Well, i for one refuse to nerf AE. i hope all the other players reading this thread also refuse to use their nonexistent authority as well.

I vote we have to PAY inf to use AE after all it is in game a company that provides a service. If I go to the local arcade I have to pay to play video games why not AE?
i have no knowledge of what you're talking about, but based on what others in this thread have posted i fully support whatever it is you're complaining about. As long as the missions don't exploit flaws or otherwise break or evade the rules i'm fine with them. i enjoy joining AE teams on occasion both for the interesting stories and the tickets. While i prefer getting both at once, i have no problem with the occasional arc or mission that just has one. i usually just blow all my tickets on rare salvage* and uncommon recipes.

*While i enjoy crafting and selling IOs on the market i'd rather get the exact salvage i need without doing the bidding and waiting. It's just more fun for me to use AE. i get amusement and exactly the salvage i wanted at the end. Perfect.

    Traps/?

My traps/dark just realigned the deflector dish. Okay, he was actually a mild-mannered globetrotting adventurer who was in a lab accident when a professor who was an old friend was attacked by agents of a sinister power seeking to steal the professor's newest breakthrough just as he was visiting the professor.

"Hello old friend, you're just in time to witness my latest creation. Stand over by that panel and vomit the switch when I tell you to."

    *CRASH*

The enlightened person is aware of this, acknowledges it, and proceeds to act in such a way to maximize their own benefit, which includes minimizing 'costs.' Acting outside of normal socially accepted bounds is permissible under such a thought system, if the subjective benefit outweighs the subjective costs.

This is frequently misunderstood, however. It does not say that you are allowed to run roughshod over others freely; it simply says that you can if the benefit outweighs the costs. A suitably powerful, rich and connected person can do things that an average person cannot, because they have the wherewithal to ignore the outcry of those below them -- the cost is not high enough to consider. In other words, the subjective repercussions of ones actions determine their legitimacy.

As a philosophy, that's pretty dark, though it goes a long way toward describing the corporate mindset.

In real terms, this is semi-sociopathic behavior on the part of the person being discussed in the OP (and, to some degree, PK's behavior.) Being a bully and seeking to ruin other peoples entertainment for your own pleasure is not excusable behavior to most people. It shows a significant lack of empathy, at the very least. The argument that "it's just a game, don't take it so seriously" is used frequently by those who engage in this behavior and they are correct, it is just a game and it is one that has rules, both written and unwritten. As a game, certain behavior is expected -- players must play according to the written rules, and, in the cases where a rule does not cover a given aspect, the players should play according to mutually agreed upon rules. In a face to face game, a player who chooses to break those unwritten rules is likely to find himself not to be invited to return to the game. In an MMO, such isn't really possible. In such cases, reporting the player for harassment should be used if asking them to stop does not.
i was reading the thread earlier and it's rather surprising how much this mirrors my own thoughts. The comparison that actually came immediately to mind for me was how similar Objectivism and LeVay's Satanism are in their core beliefs. Both basically elevate selfishness and self-interest as being the primary guide to behavior. (Old Anton called it Satanism mostly to piss off the Christians all around him due to what he perceived as their hypocrisy. It's a big middle finger to conventional values and involves no actual Satan or demon worshiping, just worship of the self and ego.) More interesting to me is that a rather large body of research suggests that in many animals altruism and cooperative behavior actually offers significant advantages over selfishness both for the population and the individual.

    Damage output?

Here's why. Increasing damage slotting increases DPS and DPE at the same time. While the third slot loses something due to ED, adding a third slot is still a 17% increase over two slots in damage per attack. Personally, when using SOs or roughly equivalent common IOs, my slotting preference is 1-2 accuracy (two for fighting +1-+3 foes) 3 damage, and either 1 end reduction and/or one recharge. If I have slotted two accuracy, I choose end reduction or recharge on a power-by-power basis. (Low base recharge powers always get the end reducer, for example.)

My opinion is that you should trade in Boxing, Tough and Weave for Assault, Aim and possibly Hasten. I think that taking Air Superiority is mostly poor on a Defender, but slotting it and Boxing are really not the right investment. Put those slots in your ranged blasts instead, to get them to six slots. Your melee damage modifier is even lower than your ranged one. Spend the slots where they'll do the most good.

As others have suggested, I think you have traded too much offensive output for mitigation. Adding a third damag SO and Assault is going to be a 28% increase in your DPA over two SOs. Increasing your DPS with a power like Hasten won't help your DPA any, but it will improve your ability to hammer down your opponent's HP regen better in short bursts.

Yes, you'll be more vulnerable. However, you'll defeat foes what I think will be noticeably faster, which means they'll have less time to beat on you. At least with Dispersion Bubble, you don't have to worry so much that what they'll land on you will be mezzes (except for sleeps).

I realize that it's possible that none of those suggestions mesh with your character concept. You need to accept that the game's balance framework doesn't allow arbitrary character concepts to function effectively.

If you want to build a character for high defense, I really suggest you investigate that with IOs rather than the fighting pool. I know you feel they're not part of the baseline game. However, they are a part of the game now. Don't ignore them if they can help you do what you really want.
Agreed. i also almost never put more than one end reducer in an attack, especially with fewer than 3 damage slotted. My fast charging attacks don't even get a recharge reducer once i've got a decent number of attacks.

i don't know the answer to your question, but asking the regulars in the Technical Issues & Bugs section of the forums would be your best bet. There's even a thread there devoted to Vista issues. Besides, in my opinion they've had things too easy lately.

    Technaught: Level 50 Technology Defender
    Primary Power Set: Force Field
    Secondary Power Set: Energy Blast
    Power Pool: Flight
    Power Pool: Fitness
    Power Pool: Fighting
    Power Pool: Leadership
    Ancillary Pool: Power Mastery

    Hero Profile:
    Level 14: Fly -- Flight-I(A), Flight-I(21), Flight-I(23)
Quick pointer: 2 Slots of flight speed in Fly should put you over the flight speed hard cap if using SO's or better. i have Defender with one 50 flight IO in Swift and Fly and she hits the speed cap. Slotting flight enhancers in Swift gives a fairly minimal return, but every bit helps for Hover, which is in no danger of hitting the speed cap even with max slotting.

  14. Here in Connecticut the snow started in the evening and was over by early morning. Thoroughly disappointed since the various forecasters were predicting snow starting noon Saturday and ending around noon Sunday. Still, visibility was nearly nonexistent driving home at about 1:30 in the AM. Top speed was about 35mph due to lack of visibility. Made what's normally about a half hour drive take over an hour. Even so, i still made better time than all the other cars i saw headed the same direction. 4WD FTW. (Also, driving an old Legacy instead of an overweight SUV and not driving like a macho jackhole helps, at least in my experience.)

The tailor does not provide the option. Is there a solution?

    Thanks in advance!
The science booster pack, available for $9.99US in the NCsoft store, allows you to go to one of the tailor surgeons and completely change your character's model. You can alter type (male, female, huge) and all the scales (height, proportions, all the body sliders). Of course this is on a per slot basis, and is the only ony way you can change a character's height after creation.

The science pack also gives you a bunch of costume pieces and some special emotes.

    More details here.

Edit: Vulpish beat me to it. Have some +rep, Quickdraw. (Well, i gave everyone who beat me rep, but Vulpish got it first by posting within the same minute i did. )

Yeah. i didn't get involved at all once i saw it was more of the same as the last several.

Sometimes you find someone with a learning curve like the approach to the Rocky Mountains, not much progress upward happens for a bit then it takes off into the sky, and sometimes you find someone with a learning curve like Utah's Salt Flats, not much progress upward is made for a while and then you realize it's actually a circular track and no real progress is occurring at all, just an endless circling that gets nowhere.

Rather than play greyhound to the thread's dog track rabbit i'm happier to pop in now and again, sit on the sidelines, and watch the looping patterns as they cruise by covering the same ground again and again all the while getting nowhere.

As for Cimerora being a theme park created by Recluse (or Nemesis)... far more likely is that it's related to the Dream Doctor if it is some sort of alternate/pocket dimension.
Location of Cimerora portal: Midnighter Club.
Person with ties to creation and/or shaping of pocket dimensions: Dream Doctor.
Member of Midnighter Club with a book there that even references things related to shaping dimensions/reality: Dream Doctor.

The best thing is that you now get good cell coverage even in an ancient Roman city. The downside is that all these ancient Romans walk around discussing the latest happenings in Rhode Island. i guess it's just as well they didn't make it into the historical record with any real detail.

And while safety is certainly one of the eases of Flight, another is just straight ease of use. It's the only travel power in the game that you can set yourself to move forward at altitude, walk away from the computer to take a bio break/answer the door/make a sandwich, and come back and still be moving forward towards your goal.

No other travel power is that easy.
Fly can be enhanced for more speed, but at SO levels adding one slot to Fly puts you hard against the speed cap IME. The Zero-G pack becomes nearly useless for Fly if you add a single slot or take an additional flight speed boosting power like Swift.
    ...

The straight line being quickest argument for flight would work better if the game was set in a relatively small radius O'Neill habitat, but otherwise there are usually enough barriers to straight-line travel between most places to make SJ much quicker. Flight is safer overall, but i can count on the fingers of no hands how often i've had a character get defeated by random mobs while traveling in dangerous areas using SS or SJ in the last three years or more. Well, there was the Hollows, but then i used to have alts defeated there while stationary simply by having 12 or more mobs who were +3 or better suddenly materialize around my character, so it doesn't really count IMO. (Before the revamp the Hollows' spawning was just wonky.)

All that aside, Fly is still a fun travel power. Slower than the others, yes, but i still have multiple alts who use it.
