  1. Not an issue for SR, but secondaries without knockback protection might want to slot Kick with that knockback set that gives 3 pts of -knb (I forget the name).

The second way fits more accuracy and healing at the cost of some recharge, and is intended to work better against tough targets, such as AVs, EBs, or monsters. Since there is only the one target to heal from, you need to be able to hit and you need it to heal a lot.
I kind of split the difference, although perhaps closer to the first option.

The Dark Regen slotting I like best: (using slightly lower level IOs for some degree of exemplaring):

    30 Theft of Essence a/e/r
    Any Theft of Essence proc
40 Touch of the Nictus a/e/r
    40 Numina e/r *
    40 Numina e/h/r
    40 Harmonized Healing e/h/r *

*or use the Miracles of the same types -- it depends on whether you've already hit the "rule of 5" slotting limit for the recovery bonus Miracle gives)

This results in 94.8% end reduction and recharge, 36.7% accuracy (but I get a lot more from global set bonuses...like +60 more) and 38.6% healing. And of course the endurance-stealing proc.

OP: Check out the Iron Eagles (Player Events section). We play "hardcore:" Any defeat results in deleting the character and starting over.

We take teamwipes very seriously. :P

I'm in agreement with Bill. Even when I'm playing my Iron Eagles, if someone wants to join the team and asks "what do you guys need?" I can't bring myself to tell them -- it's a point of personal pride to be able to play with any weird combination that shows up on a given night.

About stacking buffs: if a defense-based Tanker is softcapped, he might want a +resistance buff instead of another stacked +defense buff.
  5. I'd just like some way of filtering out the seasonal event badges, like the Halloween ones.

Some of my characters have almost finished some of these and by God, there they sit atop "closest to completion," but I can't do anything about that until the event in question. Halloween itself is close, but surely the day will come when one cannot finish an event on the last night, and who wants to spend a year looking at the "almost completed" badge status taunting us from the top of the list?

Note that you can right-mouse on up to ten individual attributes on that list and select the "monitor" option to place them in a tidy little window that stays open while you play. This is VERY handy for stats that change, or the Rage crash, or for monitoring your "last chance to hit" to know when you're debuffed, and so on.

Well, it would still cost you End if you clicked it. :P

OOH! I just remembered one I see in WW form time to time that love -- I hope my memory does this justice: an Earth/Storm Controller named Unnatural Disaster, with a bio that goes something like this:

  12. Tankers are roughly equivalent to what was known as "Bricks" in pen-and-paper Champions. One of my all-time favorites is a female fire tanker named Briquette.

As far as concepts go, my friend mousedroid has a character called Mr. Piddles and Kelly.

I frequently see names I really like, but my mind is a sieve sometimes. I will try to post any I can recall.

    Purple Drop Rate

I went a couple of months without any purples at all (admittedly I wasn't practicing intensive agriculture) and then recently took my Shield/Axe Tanker out for a spin just for fun and got one in the first few minutes....and a second one 41 kills later. Wasn't even thinking about drops at the time. (Went back through the combat spam to count the kills just because it had happened again so soon that I was curious).

Extremely long odds can still produce strange clusters and droughts.

    Concept help?

Looking to make a concept character and having difficulty choosing sets. This guy is an Australian Aborigine who inhabits the Dreamtime -- the Aboriginal creation myth.

The character will be modern in origin (he'll wear pants and use the transit system) but tied to a deep mystical past. I'm using one of the faces with the eyes closed; he will be blind to the physical world but sense everything through the Dreaming.

Spirits are central to the Dreamtime stories, so I am thinking Illusion Control would be a pretty good match. I've never had a higher-level Illusion Controller anyway.

For a secondary, I'm stumped. I've tentatively tried Storm and Sonic; Storm because exposure to the elements is part of the natural world, and sonic because songlines and singing are a big part of Aboriginal culture.

But I'm not entirely sold on Sonic, and I already have a Mind/Sonic Controller of medium level. I'm not averse to reusing the set, but I might find something else I like more that could be can be shoehorned into the concept .

So I thought I'd pick the collective forum brain for suggestions or ideas to help make the character come alive.

    Thanks!

I took it more as a comment about the expectations of people who demand "fresh" end-game content, since all such will quickly become un-fresh after a few weeks. Additional content is fine, but to imagine that any dev team born could produce limitless quantities of high-quality, new-feeling stuff to do at that pace at which players will consume it is to descend into self-delusion.

    Stone/Dark Build

I have just glanced at the build -- I don't have Mids, so someone else will do a better job analyzing in depth -- but Granite isn't slotted for resistance! Granite Armor should really be at the ED cap for resistance (and defense too IMHO). Personally I find 3 Defense and 3 Resist IOs to be a good slotting (I'd rather pay the full end cost on the greatest protective power in the game than weaken it) but you'd be even better off frankenslotting it to get good end reduction (2 def/end set IOs and a straightforward all-defense IO from one of those 2 sets; 2 res/end set IOs and a straightforward all-resistance IO from one of those 2 sets would be about ideal.

I strongly suggest this change be made, and that it be called the Dick Cheney rule.

Well, if it's in a toggle it checks every ten seconds. Every ten seconds counting from when you start the toggle? Every ten seconds according to some server schedule? I don't know.

Let's say you're facing Mr. Big. Your proc checked four seconds ago while you were looking for him. Now it cannot activate for six more seconds, period. There's no chance you'll have it for the fight unless you wait.

If you had it in Aim, you'd have a 5% chance of having it right now, no waiting!

BUT...there's a caveat. Let's say you DO hit AIM...and it does not activate the Build Up proc this time. Are you going to attack? Or are you going to wait for Aim to recharge and try again to get the proc?

If you are going to attack anyway and not wait in hopes of getting the proc, then Ben_Arizona and the others are right; it makes no difference; your chances of the proc being up randomly in a toggle are no different from your chances of getting it to go off in Aim. Either way it's active 5% of the time you could be making your big attack; the only thing you control is if you decide to wait and not act (which probably is a LOT worse for your DPS than not having the proc active).

In other words, in a toggle, you only have a 5% chance at any random moment in which you happen to make the "shoot/don't shoot decision" to get the benefit; in Aim, you only have a 5% chance to have it activate in the specific, chosen moment you make the "shoot/don't shoot decision." Both are 5%, aren't they?

The scenario in which you do get to have any influence over the proc going off at the key moment is the scenario where you wait.

    My SS/Inv Build

Also, the newest issue introduces a tanker-only inherent power called Bruising, which gives a decent debuff to enemy resistance -- meaning you and your team will do more damage to a target with every attack once you've hit that target with your Tier 1 attack (Jab).

For that reason, I recommend reconsidering one-slotting Jab. I would probably six-slot it now, since I'll be using it a lot (for the debuff) and it's largely a waste of animation time to use unslotted attacks.

  23. Consume now grants -end drain resistance, and end drain used to be how Carnies killed my Fire Tankers. Have you tried slotting Consume for max recharge and spamming it to keep the end drain res active?
