Quote:You know what? This requires a bit more elaboration.Seriously, aside from the bad idea that shutting down a server is, you're operating from the unproven assumption that highly-populated servers are more desirable for everyone. They're not.
Shutting down Pinnacle to solve the alleged issue of "there were only 40 people on Pinnacle" is doubly illogical. Firstly, there will then be ZERO people on Pinnacle, won't there?
And secondly, if there's an insignificant number of players on Pinnacle and a good number of players on Server X, shutting down Pinnacle will add, by definition, an insignificant number of players to Server X. It won't even be noticed, let alone be game-changing.
You think Server X players saying "Oh yeah, I heard they shut down Pinnacle, but I didn't notice anything much happen as a result" is what'll bring in people who've never played the game?
Bizarre. -
Gah.
Quote:If the Devs shut down some of the less active servers and make everyone go to a different server(s) that will help tremendously.

Quote:Want more players? It's really simple.
Add in more objects of desire to returning players that you want to stay

More, BIGGER, titan weapons.
If you ask me, and nobody has, I'd say that if they want bigger numbers the next step is the same one every other product, service, or company uses: advertising. Everyone (and I mean this in the sense of "actual everyone, including elderly aunts and that immigrant family next door," not just "everyone who reads Penny Arcade") has seen TV Chuck Norris and Mr. T on television pitching That Other Game.
TV time would require A LOT of upfront money. Is it a wise business move? I don't know -- I don't run a game company. But it's been historically proven you can sell almost anything with TV ads. If people will pay for Salad Spinners and Garden Weasels, they'll buy COH/V time, even if they don't know what it is. -
Due to the patching nonsense, I showed up too late to get onto the teams.

I saw a rumor this has been changed/removed in the last build. I never paid much attention to pre-stacking insps, but you might want to look into whether they have changed/are intending to change it.

Quote:Congrats on TT's longevity and popularity! It's the longest-running event in COHG/V for sure, one of the major MMOs at this point. And as we creep up on the next milestone I wonder if any other mmo has ever had a monthly player run event that's bordering on 100 consecutive months let alone one that expanded in it's seventh year.
Though even if one did exist somewhere, TT could beat it up.
And although it's much smaller, not a public event per se, and not even based in an MMO, I do know of at least one Diablo 2 group that's been meeting weekly since 2002 (that's more than nine years of regularly scheduled mayhem!) -
I have an Inv/SS Tanker who's having a devil of a time deciding on an Alpha ability.
The build already is above the soft-cap for s/l/e/n defense (50%) with one foe in range of Invincibility (I wanted a debuff cushion), and around 40% for f/c. It does not use Hasten. It does use Tough and Weave and the passives, so 90% sl res and 30-32% e/n/f/c.
I've been pretty happy with the build overall, this isn't about fixing various holes really. I was originally planning to make Musculature, of all things, because I often feel like a bad guy has just a sliver of life left, and Musculature would have defeated him. Endurance is generally fine -- it can run down in savage AV fights, but I've never felt like he was gasping for end.
But the addition of the new Agility and Resilience alpha abilities has me reconsidering. Raising defense & recharge with Agility or the exotic resistances & taunt with Resilience both look good.
Any thoughts? -
It's worth noting that although Fiery Embrace is better (partly because it adds in a way roughly equivalent to base damage), Fiery Embrace PLUS Build Up is better still (and Build Up raises FE's damage in addition to the non-FE damage.)

I was kinda hoping you'd discovered a new pet, maybe a beetle or a caterpillar.
-
Improbably enough, I showed up after all. I ran a team through level 50 tips -- Carnies, Arachnos, Rikti, and Malta. When one player grumbled about the tough opposition, I said, "The other ATs are running the easy missions."

I want to be there for a rare Guardian Server TT, but family obligations will call me away.
We were SUPPOSED to do the family thing over the weekend, but for some crazy reason people decided to sleep in instead. -
Sorry nobody's helped you until now.
Most of the Scrapper guides are pretty old, for three reasons.
- Some info has not changed, so new guides would be reiterating a lot of the same material
- The game (especially the high-end game) has become a LOT more complex, complicating the difficulty of making a truly comprehensive guide
- People just want to play, not write guides
Fortunately for you, the powerset combo you're interested in has one of the more up-to-date guides available:
Fury_Flechette's Electric/Shield and Fire/Shield for any budget -
I admit I haven't paid attention to all the levels of access...so I'm not an expert on what Free or Premium players get. But I think that free players are somewhat limited in what they can spend influence on -- can they even slot inventions without buying a license? And isn't there a low-ish cap on how much inf they can have on one character?
Before you go chasing big money, might be worthwhile to find out. -
Quote:PLUS 8 would be really impressive. Not to mention a pretty difficult setting to find. TIMES 8 is more your speed.Cimerora has some arcs (I think). Should be fun cranked to +8.
You can get him through flashbacks in Oro if you want. -
Quote:This is more of a problem in early levels, I imagine, and seems to be worse on a Brute since Build momemtum comes before Follow Through. Here's the scenario: take all the primary powers up to Build Momentum, don't slot for recharge or get hasten....now jump in a mob. It goes like this: Sweep-> sweep -> crush -> follow through -> sweep. Now wait forever for your powers to recharge while your Build Momentum is wasting away.

Regarding iTrials: I recognize that the devs are trying to 1) challenge teams and 2) make us think outside whatever boxes we've become accustomed to. But still, the various "instant death" mechanics added to the iTrials, while frustrating for all ATs, seem to especially impact Tankers. At least my own character concepts are predicated on my Tankers being tough and hardy, not on their ability to notice a flashing circle amid the dazzle of everyone's combat effects.
Simply exempting Tankers from all the "instant death" mechanics in the iTrials would be a start. -

Why do Tankers need any increase in damage? Everything dies already.

Can't the software restock my power trays for me? It feels pretty onerous to try and rebuild each character's custom layout because of something that I didn't choose to do.
