Well, Sam. You're sorta screwed...
Uhm. Maybe you could squeeze Void in there? Sort of a series of katana swings faster then the human eye can register to all the folks around you. Color the shadow as faded as you can and play it off as a visual quirk. His movements appear to be shadows whipping across the ground because the human eye can't track 'em.
The -dmg component coming from the shattering of weapons/limbs as you go.
The Dark damage is a bit harder to explain... I personally would say that being empowered by the Well as allowed the character to move so fast that the laws of physics can't keep up sometimes. So the slashes simply register as matter vanishing into nothing. Which as far as it matters, appears to be "Dark" damage.
Honestly, if they just added the ability to alter the animations you could just throw in a "Hold aloft sword + swing sword" animation for Ion and be done with it. A REAL lightning rod. Oh well.
Your Earth guy could get away with it. If you make a costume that's more metal based with an electricity aura and bind it to casting Ion. You could them using natrually magnetic rock to build a magnetic funnel to channel electrons. Thus causing lighting blasts that they can partly direct. Welll, you don't need a costume, but it might help with the lore aspects in your head. -
Hm. While I am still displeased at my lack of freestuff...
I appreciate your response on the matter, while being a bit late you still came through to us with information. I was seriously considering just ignoring these sorts of events from now on but your response and what looks looks to be an honest to hami attempt to improve upon the experience and learn from mistakes...
Well. I know it's not easy to do this kind of stuff. And the explanation(Trying to run an event while also doing your job) made sense. AND you've presented your plan for making the next one better and working on fixing the problems we feel popped up this time. So... sweet. Communication is important and I'm used to getting the standard vague and automated responses that something that looks like it took real human effort stands out.
It remains to be seen if you guys can improve the (perceived or not)quality of events. But I'll give it another try.
Thank you very much, I look forward to having you around -
Because this thread needs more subjective feedback...
Subjective:
All: The heads need to be given some of the options other heads are allowed. Horns/glasses/hair/goggles/etc. I do understand how hard that is, I honestly thing it's worth holding the pack up to add that in. As well, the ability to use the sliders on all the heads. Animal Fur option for "Flat" feet option
Avian: Needs more feather options. Even if just a feather tail. Ideally some talon gloves, or wing-hand/arm gloves. In addition, some extra head-feather options and/or color patterns so we can make a wider array of birds.
Canine: More head color patterns. Ideally the ability to two-tone it with a few pattern options. A closed-mouth head option. If sliders are out, then a fox head, if a fox head is out, two-tone with fox patterned shape.
Feline: A closed mouth option for the heads. And to see the pattern ported across more body parts. Capes for example.
Additions: I would beg you for a clawed human foot option with bare and animal fur options(at least). Even if just the "Flat" option with five little bitty claws sticking out of the toe areas. -

Wait, you have to have an account?
...I wish someone had mentioned that in the original post. I feel dumb now.
Do I need to be facebook friends to see the Facebook updates in a timely maner? -

Quote:But dismantling the Seer network would let people like the Resistance and Syndicate flourish. The Syndicate would begin their takeover of the government, slowly subverting it to their ends.I also have to disagree, Sam. Freeing the seers is clearly the correct moral choice. Forced labor, forced servituded, imprisionment for no crime, clearly violate all the normal rights and freedoms that we hold. The fact that there are political implications as a result are just the consequences of your choice.
Meanwhile the Resistance would begin the systematic destruction of the city. There's too many anarchists in that group to maintain control once the limiting factor of the Seers is gone. With the Syndicate controlling the government, the Resistence would have little trouble causing mass havoc and destruction.
All this internal strife opens up Pretoria to...? The Devouring Earth.
If millions die, how can the choice be called truly moral?

We have tons of ideas for new EATs, personally I'd love to see some Rikti EATs. Give them an embassy in Galaxy, that zone could use some love. It would be their personal starting zone. Or convert those buildings that they refuse to finish into them. Give them some unique contacts and tip missions and let them switch between Traditionalist and Restructurist.
There's also all kinds of other things...
Oroborus Agent AT with time based powers and a story that expands on their goals and personalities.
Corallax AT that opens up along side a new underwater zone and explains just what's going on with those guys.
FINALLY getting the BBotE EAT... whatever exactly it is
I always thought a assult/support "Movement" type AT might work. Melee range debuffs and inherent travel. For the Flash/Angel/Nightcrawler characters who have travel as their primary focus. Can't really make a character with superspeed or teleport as their focus right now, I think there's room for an AT that specalizes in travel powers and the related abilities
Gimme a minute and I could come up with another half dozen. Rikti still seems like the most obvious idea to expand on a story that needs it. It's the logical progression of the war. Of course, they might want to wait for the GR storyline/Coming storm to end.
The most likely EAT would be a Pretorian one. The Spy AT that jump sides and maybe uses the mimic-tech they created. -
Quote:This risks Stalkers griefing teams by targeting the tank or off-tank and causing a team wipe. This might even happen accidentally. No other AT has access to such AT canceling powers. It would be like giving blasters the power to remove controls off people, wouldn't it?B - Allow placate to be used on allies. Placating at an ally (may require alternate animation or facing) would grant a wide PBAoE -taunt, similar to the way AS grants a terrorize. This places stalkers an a unique position to "anti-tank" Simultaneously helping both squishies and other melee be keeping aggro focused. This gives the stalkers the ability to do for teams what they can do for themselves, manipulate aggro at will in a deflective rather than absorptive fashion.
You might try having it instead grant a temp-power when cast on players that holds different effects for different ATs. As an example, for blasters and corruptors it might be a single burst of anti-taunt. Where as for Tankers and Brutes, it strengthens the effect of their taunt powers temporarily. Sort of a "You should hit that guy, not me" effect.
Stalkers are in a unique position of being able to leave or stay out of the fight if they want letting them consider their options(in theory). Maybe that should be leveraged?
(of course if Castle don't see nozing wrong with the class. Talk is for naught.) -

I don't see any reason not to port it over. It might require tweaking, a few sets have before when being ported. But that's about it.
My only request would be that they give Masterminds a version of it too. I have a few dream/nightmare villains waiting to come forth. -
I would appreciate alternate animations for the "Weapon" sets. You can easily make two Fire Blasters obviously different just via coloring. One character with green fire one with black. They look, and for some, feel vastly different.
But all of the weapon sets are denied that, there's nothing to color. I very much believe that these sets deserve alternate animations as a higher priority over the rest.
Two Broadsword wielders look identical, two archery wielders look identical. And so on. The actual list would be...
Katana/Ninja Blade
Axe
Mace
Claws
Broadsword
Dual Blades
Dual Pistols
Assault Rifle
These sets are defined less by their colors and more the weapon shape and style. You've already given us the shape, which I love. I believe adding the ability to change weapon styles is the next logical step.
Katana could use a more realistic katana style. Or a more fantastic one, perhaps a style like Kenshin, where the strikes are near instant. Beginning and ending sheathed.
Broadsword could use a faster or slower style. A "Big sword" (and maybe some swords to go with it) style with more weight and heft to it. Or a "Fast Sword" style to match the skinny swords.
Dual Pistols/Blades could use some less fantastic options. As much as I love them, they're a bit... spiny. Some simpler animations would be good, if only for the more exotic attacks.
Mace and Axe desperately need something to make them different from one another visually
Archery and Assault Rifle are a bit harder to deal with. But you gave "Holding two pistols" it's own unique feel. I'm sure there's something you can do to spice up these sets(I'd still put them lower on the list, if only for "What do we do with them?" reasons)
Claws... well... personally, I'd like to see a "natural" set of animations. Open handed claw attacks and maybe some claw models to match. But I leave that up to the art team to decide if that's feasible without looking dumb. Might just need a "Bestial Melee" set *shrug*
So... that's my suggestion. -
Subjective: Hrm... not what I was expecting. I'll get a LOT of use out of the CC emotes and the costumes.
They seem fairly generic, they don't scream "insect' or "Lizard" or anything like that. They're just... that. BioLum has a fishy feel, but even then, it doesn't appear to have scales. Keep in mind that I think this is a good thing. They KIND of look demony, or boney, or coraly, or planty, or fishy. Enough so that you could use them for a number of costumes. Props for that.
For the record, here's what I came up with.

http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...rgExample1.jpg
Honestly, was I the only one who thought "Zerg" when they saw the set? -
CoH would be 40 times bigger then WoW if the Devs could just follow those simple guidelines!!!
-
No, I think there are much better Story linked ATs to poke through first. I would rather an Oroborus(SP?) AT
And all in all I'd rather see some more non-epic ATs.
Perhaps a... "Traveler" AT.
Primary = Travel set(SS, Fly, TP, SJ, and throw in some more like digging or what have you)
Secondary = Assault(Ala Dominator) perhaps.
Inherent ability being bonuses for moving around, Maybe +dmg or +def. Making them a blitzing type.
Or...
uhm... hm... I think I see why they don't add more base ATs... this is hard... -
Quote:Yeah damit! Why aren't you perfect!?
Those kinda mistakes arent tolerated in business. Why do you allow yourself and your developer team to let these mistakes "get by" in the first place?
Edit: wait wait wait..."Those kinda mistakes arent tolerated in business."
...Bull&*!@.
Every piece of software out there has bugs, errors, miscalculations. That's what patches are for. This game is bug free by Microsoft standards! They're the biggest business around!
To jump on the guy for this, claiming he's offended some divine commercial law by daring to let a product pass by with flaws. Seriously? -
Quote:I'm picturing Castle going "Holy shmoligins! Don't let bad things happen? Why didn't we think of that!? This will revolutionize the game making industry--nay, the world!"I hope the people(s) responsible for the series of separate and distinct errors that have resulted in SC being what it is today get the wet noodle beating they deserve or however PS doles out reprimands to prevent such future easily avoidable mistakes.
It is a big disconcerting though, the "clients" have been sending in reports that should have been "audited" for a long time regarding Shield Charge. If the issue had just gone unattended that would be one thing, but it received green light for a major change and wasn't "audited" at that point either.
Is there a lack of communication at PS where the QA team doesn't have access to proper information on how the power designers have implemented powers to function? Something is amiss internally because this issue was easily preventable and is now either going to result in a massive nerf or at the very least another ill afforded time sink from an overworked power design team to rectify the issue.
What the old saying? "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Test stuff better before it goes live please and at the very least please don't authorize changes to powers without some form of audit performed on said power (this is honestly what is bugging me most). You're a busy guy and now look at the mess that has been created. We all want the game to succeed, but players have a right to be upset in this case. You strike me as being overly defensive about this issue, but regardless of where you want the blame to be placed it is not in the hands of the players. We have performed our due diligence with regard to Shield Charge and the same can not be said of PS. If you are getting upset at what players are saying now just wait until you go through with the necessary (and large) reduction to the power, it will be worse than ever because it was approved for a massive buff. And All in a short time frame relative to the evolution of other powers in this game.
We all understand that this may not be your fault directly, but you are the one addressing the issue and afaik you oversee the powers team. You are welcome to throw an underling under the bus if you want, some managers do that, or you can accept the responsibility inherent with overseeing a team.
I'm not interested in the forthcoming apology that has accompanied many of the power changes recently. I couldn't care less if you guys are remorseful about changing things. I personally think it is pretty tacky to attach emotion to the process and seems manufactured actually. I care about the specific breakdown in the process that allowed something like this to happen and making sure it is corrected so that future development is more efficient and productive. If the limited time card is going to be played constantly then I'm interested in making that finite resource stretch further. -
I think I know what's going on in this thread...
All the good will aimed at David Nakayama has created an imbalance in the force. It's siphoned away the goodwill aimed at other Devs! -
Quote:Just make lower Burn's damage, leave it's fear, and put that damage into a powerful DoT. Even if they run, they still take tons of damage.(Balance the numbers yourselves mathmagicians)Honestly, the set you should be looking at is Fiery Aura. Even before Shield Defense, I've felt the set lags behind our other secondaries. Shield Defense just made it that much more obvious. What Fiery Aura gives up, it doesn't gain much in return.
Is that what that hissing was in the RWZ? -
Quote:Well how about a T-shirt printing service? There are several technical problems with this.
- 3D Printing methods require solid mesh objects, which our costumes are not. We use a "building blocks" methodology, which results in a huge amount of flexibility. In order to get 3D Printing to work for one of our models, we'd have to export your character as a solid mesh, which would require a non-insignificant amount of work. It *may* be possible to automate the process; I don't know. I kind of doubt it, though.
- 3D Printing doesn't support Bump mapped or reflective textures well, and those are both things we use a lot of in our costume bits.
- Aura's aren't really doable at all in 3D Printing, and for many of the best costumes out there, the Aura is a key feature.
That said, we'll continue to follow the technology and, hopefully, one day it'll be doable!
Me, I still want posters of my characters.
