Quote:the running only seems to happen when rains, or in this case wirrelpool is used too soon. Especially with darks ability to sap damage off of 10+ of them and finish a spawn in less than 7 seconds this is usually a non-issue.The main problem I've run into when using a blaster to farm is how much everything runs away. Even using a secondary with a damage aura, apparently it's not the same thing as a real aggro aura. It's a shame since blasters can kill stuff so fast, but nothing stays bunched up to effectively do it.
While yes, it can be done, I find it to be more trouble than it's worth. -
OK the initial concept for Plaguebringer set. I like the idea of giant sized rats, and bugs. Plagueborn should have -regen in his second set uf upgrade attacks. Alternatives would maybe be putting the roaches smaller in the minion, and add the rats as LT's. I want the plagueborn to look like he was maybe a lab assistant mutated by disease. Minions should add a debuff like disintegration which spreads the debuffs of your ST attacks without the damage. I want to avoid -regen early in the set.

I have a concept
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=293005
here. Plaguebringer. Working out ll the details. I want -regen in there somewhere as it is too obvious for that set, and probably in the boss pets second upgrade lineup. -
Plaguebringer Mastermind concept
Malaria-Deals minor toxic damage over time foe -def
Plague Rats-calls 1-3 rats high toxic resistance average smashing lethal low psi average defenses for t1 pets Rats would be about medium dog sized
Ebola- deald moderate toxic damage over time for -res to toxic with high debuff that decays over the duration, and provides a bonus to it at the end of the effect for 2/5 of it's time.
Infect carriers-standard pet buff adds toxic attacks, and causes a cloudy looking brown aura around pets.
Mosquito Swarm- Target area minor toxic/lethal DoT on cast check only. Alternatively an anchored DoT similar to radiation infection as a toggle with less damage. No debuff.
Giant Roaches-calls 1-2 roaches Should be decaying with again strong toxic resistance,a nd average smashing/lethal. Weak to fire. Mostly spit attacks dealing toxic damace.
Infectious-Unique in that it should be an aura buff on the mastermind which effects those in supremecy range increasing toxic damage with a 30 second duration and long cooldown. Only small increase spread across 5 pets. Does not effect your own toxic damage.
Plagueborn-Human ranged pet uses thrown AOE choke with vomit animation chance. Mostly target AE stuff here. Vomit attack comes with second upgrade.
Engineered Disease-Second upgrade gives rats a minor DoT aura, and roaches gain area dot and spreading plague attack similar to disintegration. -
I have a /El, and /Dark water, and both are very tough, and at level 10 began running my self powerlevel farm at full gate where as my melee toons which are usually the strongest at this had to wait til at least 26 to go full throttle. /psi should do better than these secondaries, and I have once again found love for blasters. Used to have an Arch/Dev long ago, but alas she died to low fun factor as the game progressed.

Quote:I personally will be slotting either Doctored Wounds, or Nictus depending on accuracy issues laterReally digging my Water/Mental blaster.
I'm not quite sure how to slot Dehydrate yet. Nor Drain Psyche, but I consulted a guide for that one.
I played on and off all day (mostly on) and got to level 26.5 after 4 DFBs, Posi pt. 1, Posi pt. 2, Synapse, 2 DiBs, a small handful of solo missions, and about 4 level 50 Tip missions.
I'm really loving it, but this isn't a good evaluation period. Everyone else is running around with Water as well, and so things are getting torn up in all of the AoEs. I also haven't gone up against my first +2 Rikti boss yet solo yet (that's where Blasters always show their frustrating sides, IMO - solo against bosses that mez).
I'm trying to figure out what makes Whirlpool so much better than the equivalent Rain of Fire and Ice Storm... More damage and a debuff, I'm guessing.
Currently I have all powers except the first, Aqua Bolt, which I replaced with Mind Probe as I leveled. I've now replaced MP with Psychic Screem, to have yet another AOE, but the awkward cone and animation may ultimately doom it back out of my build.
A whole lot of fun, if nothing else. -
Well just as a test I got one water/el blaster to 10, and decided to see how it ran in my melee self PL farm, and low, and behold it tore it up with an efficiency not seen in my melee toons til the 20's. level 10-14 in slightly more than 30 mins. I grant you than DFB can do it faster, but this is at 10 so when it gets to 32, and begins owning the double sets of mobs teh way my /fire brute did I will expect rapid ascention.
-
I am absolutly sure both times I converted I had the /end version.
-
I filed a petition, but in case anyone is having the same issue here it is. I had 8 enhancement converters, and 1 sephyre run/jump yadda yadda range endurance recipe. I figured ok make the enhancement, and I get 2 50/50 shots at getting the -kb version. First go get the exact same enhancement out of it. ok I figure 1/3 chance. Go again, and same enhancement. no change at all. statistically it should have changed. no change same enhancement. I thought it was supposed to exclude the enhancement you were using in the first place, and yes I double, and triple checked it was exactly the same. I realize the other one is very similar with all the travel types.
-
Here's the problem I am having. I have gotten several recipes, and enhancements on the market, and have had them there for over a month. They have consistently been selling for more than I have been asking with 2 days where some dipped below, but I still have not sold mine. One I have sells consistently for 10mil, and I have it up for 8mil. I see it selling day after day for 10mil, and a month with out selling it at all. is there something I am missing here?

I deffinitly either want to cap positionals, or typed for all major benefits, and have at least reasonably high recharge. I have 4 pieces of oblit in blazing, and a full set of smashing heymaker in shin breaker at the moment. I plan on having 5slot DW in healing flames for the recharge. It is currently 6sloted with 3 SO heal and 3 SO recharges. I am terrible at accounting for all all set bonuses often, and do not pre-slot well for them. I do well with lots of time to play with things in game, but looking at numbers alone in mids does nothing to help me. I have all my AOE things 6 sloted atm with acc/rchg SOs in them save for blazing.
-
Bttween the 2 sets I have 4 AOE bits 2 PBAOE and 2 TAOE. global recharge I know is going to have to be a focus because healing flames needs to be ready for those spikes.
-
How common is this combo anyway I see no builds for it 10 pages in?
-
indeed but I am looking to utilise my abundant area damage, run Itrials, and tip farming with this set of power coices especially with sets like obliteration being there reasonably priced and with fewer powers to put Kin Combats in would I be better chasing positional, or should I still go typed.
-
ok before I invest too many more astral merrits I would like to know which sould be cheaper to build. Also which one with no concern for cost would end in a more effective build. I have gone with musculature, and pyronic, and have not made, but have unlocked interface, and lore. the an accompanying build would help, but trying to figure out what I need once I know where I am going is something I think I can do. Accuracy is my main issue, but recharge may be one as well as I have a lot of waiting in my ST chain Initial-ribcracker-shinbreaker-finisher-repeate. Thanks for any constructive input.

Quote:Posting a build ould help us help you. First off I found no9 use in putting to hit mods in RTTC go all heals. I put a triage set in there to start. As title states I have a mid 30's Street Justice/Willpower Brute. I am loving it so much i've put off some of my itrials on my main to focus on this character. but now i'm in the growing pains part of development. And at times i feel very squishy. I am wondering mainly in willpower what should be avoided (if any) and how I should slot my powers. Currently i have mostly lvl 25/30 crafted IO's (not set Invention IO's).
There have been times I seem to do really really well and others as I stated I feel so wimpy when grouping and being tasked with tanking. Some of the missions we didn't have a healer and I did just fine with my 3 heal slots in fast healing, and 2 heal and 2 to hit debuffs in rise to the challenge. Then we would do some and I'd get blown away. At any rate I would like to be able to Tank if needed what do I need to do in WP to make it able to hold up in a "tanking" situation.
To sum it up i'd like to know what powers should be skipped, and how to slot what should be taken.
Make sure you have tough, and weave. I have not seen anything in WP I wouldn't take, but it is your attack pool, and other pool powers that will define the performance. Smashing Heymakers are good as well. cheap IO sets like that help leveling up. Also doing tip missions with your toon should be easy enough. get hero, or villain merits and get things like regenerative tissue chance for regeneration in health. Biggest thing to get help here is at least try to post the build you are useing so we can see where you are going with it. -
I took intimidate because I want to get the AOE fear, and it was that, or the ST taunt. will I at least be likely to be able to solo unlocking my alpha, or is poison gonna just be screwed.
-
I am leveling a bots/poison toon, and have come up with this so far. This is a solo build, and my team build has left me less than happy. I seem to tank well on 0/1 missions, and would like suggestions on making this a power solo build eventually. I see people posting about soloing 0/8 missions, and if possible I would like to do this, but the best build I can get will be the best build I can get. I plan on doing tips to get hero merits, and putting Kcombats in the melee slots, but if that is a bad idea I would like to know before hand. Also no enhancements in this as I just made it on my 2nd build slot, and tested it in a S/L damage mission I made in AE.

This build is only for farming AE missions. Flash freeze is there to give me time to get in the middle of everything, fulcrum shift, and then I frostbite. I then proceed to kill things, and right now it seems defence is my biggest issues. Also accuracy which will eventually be taken care of by IOs but with out IOs right now I am unsure if I could effectively farm tips. The SL def of rock is key to surviving atm, historicly this toon does not survive well outside that realm even as -1/x1 setups. She tends to get killed between transfusion recharge.
I have a team build which works really well, and has all the support stuff in it already. -
even with getting my def as high as it will go with purples sometimes they land a lucky set of blows that kills me in the alpha even after FS when I break the sleep. fire will let me keep AOE damage and in fact has more of it, and give me res instead.
-
how so. if I feed myself lots of purps I can do +1/+8s (accuracy is still low for anything beyond +1)
and they never kill each other. I lead with the aoe sleep, and then FS SS then my AOE immob and fissure jack tends to pick things off fast, and I focus my any ST attacks on low health stuff. Minions are dead after the first wave of AOE stuff. LTs take about 3 and bosses die soon after that. the biggest issues I have is accuracy and def. Again I do plan to stack chance for samage into that aoe confuse I can use 2 set pools for them. -
I haven't tested this, but I would be surbrised if it didn't because I have gotten scourge out of boxing, flurry, and air superiority, but it has been a few years since I played my corr.
-
OK I am rushed for time so excuse me if the organization is off. First off one single healing powerset sounds a lot like in EQ when Sony thought other healers needed to be less than half the clerics power to maintain balance. This led to clerics being in extreamly high demand, and as most clerics never learned the class outside that role, a beliefe that that was all they could do. There were a few really good clerics who soloed, and did very well but most believed that it wasn't possible. They then proceeded to balance EVERYTHING around clerics healing power, and this led to much of the content being undoable with out a cleric, or at least 2 other healers.(one could get through some, but would be out of mana in one fight) unless you had access to raid level gear. This led to few clerics with high demand on their time, and clerics pretty much being the bosses of everyone who wanted to do anything meaningful. I remember when most of us were lucky to do one alternate ability point an hour clerics were complaining about only getting 3 so they would wait for a better group.
Second saying thermal is not a healer is like saying shaman and druids in this era were not healers. It is, and they were, but not as much so as the more focused class/powerset. Thermal has 1/3 the healing tools of a pd, and 1/2 that of an emp. Thats 2 heal powers, and for a long time it was the only healer for a vil.
Thirdly IIRC stacking buffs, and debuffs early when this game was out did make therms capable of healing for a team, and on top of that 2 would have been sufficient with some co-ordination to make the team poissible. this was especially true if fighting against fire, or cold damage.
Fourthly when I played my elec/pd corr as a main (when PD first came out)
I used to keep my mez resists up on team mates, but was asked to stop by several teams who wanted it to be done when they were mezed, and so I did. when did this change?
Finally those saying "-def is not effective in trials, and buffs are stacked out the backside anyway" I am sick of spending 30 seconds stunned, then 1-2 unstunned, and then 30 more stunned on my kin. When I play my kin in trials I usually go like this FS>SS>Transfusion>SP>Transference>Fissure>Transfus ion>Transference>Fissure>repeat
I SB between fights, and every other rotation, and I ID between fights, and try to peg a blaster with it every other rotation. otherwise some random guy/girl. I get to do this about 1 in every 6 trials, but more often it boes FS>waitformeztowearoff>Transfusion>waitformeztowea roff>Transfusion>waitformeztowearoff
Find the guys that need CM a blaster, or a kin, and tag em pls. you may feel useless a bit, but you are healing indirectly through the kin heals, and giving end through transference. I never have these mez resists stacked on me. I even took acrobatics for this, and still have an issue with it.
