StJ/WP Brute Seeks advice
As title states I have a mid 30's Street Justice/Willpower Brute. I am loving it so much i've put off some of my itrials on my main to focus on this character. but now i'm in the growing pains part of development. And at times i feel very squishy. I am wondering mainly in willpower what should be avoided (if any) and how I should slot my powers. Currently i have mostly lvl 25/30 crafted IO's (not set Invention IO's).
There have been times I seem to do really really well and others as I stated I feel so wimpy when grouping and being tasked with tanking. Some of the missions we didn't have a healer and I did just fine with my 3 heal slots in fast healing, and 2 heal and 2 to hit debuffs in rise to the challenge. Then we would do some and I'd get blown away. At any rate I would like to be able to Tank if needed what do I need to do in WP to make it able to hold up in a "tanking" situation. To sum it up i'd like to know what powers should be skipped, and how to slot what should be taken. |
Make sure you have tough, and weave. I have not seen anything in WP I wouldn't take, but it is your attack pool, and other pool powers that will define the performance. Smashing Heymakers are good as well. cheap IO sets like that help leveling up. Also doing tip missions with your toon should be easy enough. get hero, or villain merits and get things like regenerative tissue chance for regeneration in health. Biggest thing to get help here is at least try to post the build you are useing so we can see where you are going with it.
Here is what I have tweaked a bit since I removed to hit debuff from RTTC. Why energy mastery... 1. fits the idea of the character I wanted to go with, 2. Energy Torrent helps relieve stress (scientifically proven fact) 3. Laser beam eyes are beyond cool. 4. End recovery redundancy never a bad thing (carnies, some freakshow, malta sappers etc..).
OH and ignore the levels of When what is slotted. I did it in dynamic, obviously would look much different leveling.

Below is what I'll be running on my Street Justice/Willpower brute. Without accolades its about 2250 hp, regen with one enemy in Rise to the Challenge is about 70 hp/sec, with 10 it's about 113 hp/sec, and defence numbers are decent. Add in accolades and Vigor alpha slot, and you'd be looking at 140-ish hp/sec with ten enemies in melee with 2600-ish hp, 80-ish hp/sec with only one enemy. Without Vigor, Accuracy is a bit low against higher level enemies.

I'd suggest running with something like this - and do consider getting accolades for extra sources of +hp! It makes a large difference, as you can see in the numbers I cited for my build. For alpha slot, I'd go with Vigor or Nerve - the build below is light on accuracy, in my opinion. While both of them provide extra accuracy, Vigor provides more hp/regen/better end management while Nerve improves defences. Personally I prefer Vigor on my Willpower, but taste varies.
I'm a bit torn about suggesting procs, since I haven't had a look at the new mechanics for how often they trigger. At any rate, I hope this helps with some survivability that you will have a hard time getting without adding defence on top of your regeneration.

Thanks for the advice. I want to stay true to the ideal of the character I created. I have decided that I don't care about laser beam eyes but I need Energy Torrent and would rather have Physical Perfection over LBEyes. Also I don't have to have afterburner.
Looking at both your builds I've got some ideas, though I am curious I have a full set of 6 superior brute's fury waiting for me at 50 and I noticed none of your builds used them. the superior buffs they gave my PB were very nice.
If you have those superior ATIO's you can really strengthen your build. Instead of going with all six in one power I highly recommend splitting the set over two powers with three IO's each - this'll give you a total of 10% Smash/Lethal defence from just two powers. Utilize this to move slots arounds and perhaps swap a few sets I recommended. I didn't include any in the build suggestion since they may be hard to come by. Also, I'm really happy to hear you're going for Physical Perfection since I do believe that'll be more helpful than Laser beam eyes - look at the build I'm using for slotting ideas.
based on what you told me here's what I've got. Its not perfect i'm sure but its a whole lot better than when I started, and it stays true to the character ideal i was going with.
I wanted to keep flight/hover i normally fight while hovering anyways, and I had to have energy torrent (for the energy blasts from fists). I'm not the SG's main tank but I wanted to be able to do it when needed and I think I can pull it off now and have some good damage to boot.

As title states I have a mid 30's Street Justice/Willpower Brute. I am loving it so much i've put off some of my itrials on my main to focus on this character. but now i'm in the growing pains part of development. And at times i feel very squishy. I am wondering mainly in willpower what should be avoided (if any) and how I should slot my powers. Currently i have mostly lvl 25/30 crafted IO's (not set Invention IO's).
There have been times I seem to do really really well and others as I stated I feel so wimpy when grouping and being tasked with tanking. Some of the missions we didn't have a healer and I did just fine with my 3 heal slots in fast healing, and 2 heal and 2 to hit debuffs in rise to the challenge. Then we would do some and I'd get blown away. At any rate I would like to be able to Tank if needed what do I need to do in WP to make it able to hold up in a "tanking" situation.
To sum it up i'd like to know what powers should be skipped, and how to slot what should be taken.
