Typed or positional Stj/FA

ok before I invest too many more astral merrits I would like to know which sould be cheaper to build. Also which one with no concern for cost would end in a more effective build. I have gone with musculature, and pyronic, and have not made, but have unlocked interface, and lore. the an accompanying build would help, but trying to figure out what I need once I know where I am going is something I think I can do. Accuracy is my main issue, but recharge may be one as well as I have a lot of waiting in my ST chain Initial-ribcracker-shinbreaker-finisher-repeate. Thanks for any constructive input.

While there are some exceptions to the following:

  • The best Typed defense set bonuses can usually be found in 3-4 enhancement slots.
  • The best Positional defense set bonuses can usually be found in 5-6 enhancement slots.
So in general, chasing Typed defense bonuses will typically use less enhancement slots then chasing Positional defense bonuses, and give you more flexibility in builds. As always YMMV.

indeed but I am looking to utilise my abundant area damage, run Itrials, and tip farming with this set of power coices especially with sets like obliteration being there reasonably priced and with fewer powers to put Kin Combats in would I be better chasing positional, or should I still go typed.

How common is this combo anyway I see no builds for it 10 pages in?

I've got one, and I remember Angelxman81 had a thread or two about his. I built for typed defense, personally, and have been quite happy with the results.

Fire Armor is hard to build for positional...it has no inherent defense...

You could likely get to 32.5% M/R/A but you can softcap S/L defense without trying too hard, and not sure about Street justice, but you could likely get E/N close to 45% if there are enough AoE powers in there...use 3 erads in burn with 2-3 other IOs to get the endurance/recharge/accuracy/damage up, and do it again in your damage aura and the 2 StJ AoE powers and that will add 13% to your pool powers for E/N defense, if you pick the right ones then you will have +/-12% DEF to all. Use 4 kinetic combats in your ST attacks normally with a piece of crushing blow or mako's bite to get the accuracy/damage/endurance redux where it should be. 4 kinetic combats add 3.75% S/L defense.

Bttween the 2 sets I have 4 AOE bits 2 PBAOE and 2 TAOE. global recharge I know is going to have to be a focus because healing flames needs to be ready for those spikes.

Hehe, WOW Im impress you remember I got one.
This is kind of uncommon combo.
My build is a bit obsolete my now... Need to update it but not sure if Im going to reroll into DB/FA or what lol

Here is my build, maybe it can help you take direction but I know could be better, also I took the Pyre mastery for concept.

I deffinitly either want to cap positionals, or typed for all major benefits, and have at least reasonably high recharge. I have 4 pieces of oblit in blazing, and a full set of smashing heymaker in shin breaker at the moment. I plan on having 5slot DW in healing flames for the recharge. It is currently 6sloted with 3 SO heal and 3 SO recharges. I am terrible at accounting for all all set bonuses often, and do not pre-slot well for them. I do well with lots of time to play with things in game, but looking at numbers alone in mids does nothing to help me. I have all my AOE things 6 sloted atm with acc/rchg SOs in them save for blazing.
