Quote:Well, I just gave you +rep for getting -rep for giving Dumple +rep for not loving Champions. And I got negative rep for giving you positive rep -- for which I now guess I should expect further negative rep.
Hahaha, this is actually kinda fun in a perverse completely nonsensical way!
Which I think is a pretty lame game.
Let's see what happens. -
Quote:Well, since Mids is a home-made, third-party, unsupported piece of software, the only options you really have are to get access to a Windows computer, boot your Mac into Windows mode (if you can), or make your own Mac hero planner. So yeah, I play on a mac, and normally I would post this is the mac users section... Buts its always a ghost town over there. That being said...
I as a mac user am gimped by the fact that I have no mids... Cohplanner works alright I suppose, but its missing half the PvP IO sets. And PvP builds are the only time that I need to use a mids type program. Grrr... Anyone know a remedy?
Really though, the fact that someone went out and built Mids on their own time, updated it regularly, and made it available to everyone, for free makes it anything but "lame", if you asl me. -
Bah. it's not THAT bad. Hell, my GF was on a wiki for a different game last night, and Firefox only blocked 2900 or so popups in the first few seconds, and it took over THREE minutes to cap 7k popups blocked.
The spam on that site is COMPLETELY within reasonable limits. -
Only at lower levels. At mid-high levels, they run up and thank you, but there's no reward. And when the low-level ones give you a reward, I think you CAN occasionaly get an inspiration, if your tray isn't full.

Theft of Essence: Chance for +End in Dark Regen. It will often repay the cost of Dark Regen, if you're hitting enough targets. It makes things a lot more tolerable.

Quote:If this is actually the case, I would propose that it be changed as follows: Toggle, 5s interrupt, 5 min recharge, 65-70' stealth radius, Self -jump, Self -fly, Self -max runspeed (roughly equivalent to rooted, maybe even slower, and since it affects your CAP, you can't be buffed to be faster), stealth (but not movement penalty) suppresses if you attack, get attacked or click a glowie.I cannot find any reference to "Ninja_Helmet", or anything close (the nearest thing I could find was the Oni's head)
However, I did find a reference to an inherent power called "Shadowy Presence", which matches your description of the stealth power. 5s interrupt, 5min duration, 10min recharge, enough StealthRadius to be invisible to anything but snipers, and gets suppressed if you move, attack, get attacked, or click a glowy. And it's a click, so when it's suppressed it's suppressed until it recharges.
TBH, it doesn't sound particularly useful...
This way, it would be semi-useful, but not really. Honestly, even if you have the patience to stealth missions at Rooted speed when alone, no team or TF is likely to wait for it, and your XP/min will go down even more than if you were stealthing normally.
As it stands, this would be even more useless than the "power" included in the Science booster. At least that one can be used for RP. This one, I can't see any use for at all. -
There are two types of bonuses you need to look at: Set Bonuses and Procs.
Procs activate (or attempt to) whenever the power is used. In every case, the IO either says "X% chance to (do something)" or "(does something) for 120 seconds". These IOs will always function, regardless of the level of the IO, as long as you have the power it was placed in. However, their level may still be relevant for Set Bonuses.
Set Bonuses are granted for having a sufficient number of pieces of the set slotted into a single power. If you exemplar, any piece that is more than three levels above your combat level stop counting for the bonuses. Some IOs give a special benefit, like the Luck of the Gambler +recharge, or Steadfast Protection Knockback Protection. These act just like set bonuses, but check the level of the IO that grants the ability only, rather than the full set. Special IOs that count as set bonuses can be identified two ways: 1- They never have the proc terminology in their description. 2- They always show up on the Set Bonuses list of your powers tab, whereas procs do not. Both set bonuses, and special IOs that function like set bonuses continue to grant their bonuses, as long as you don't exemplar too low, even if you exemplar low enough to lose the power they are slotted in.
Purple and PVP Sets are an exception to the above - You never lose the bonus, no matter how low you exemplar, or the level of the IO (in the case of PVP IOs).
If they haven't already, someone will be along shortly to post a link to the wiki page that explains more than you could ever need to know about exemplaring and IOs. -
It's been a long time since I've seen the list of the nine types of Market Forum posts. It obviously never got made into a sticky, so it likely fell to the bottom of the forum, about to be eaten by the forum monster, or, more likely, long since eaten.
Does anyone have a copy of it? -
Quote:I can't remember where I saw it; I think it was earlier in the keynotes presentation, but didn't one of the devs say something along the lines of "They won't bother you as long as you leave them alone" with regards to the Praetorian Clockwork? It's not clear to me that this was occurring. I watched the presentation live (and from a pretty close seat), and there was no targeting reticle present, so it was impossible to tell whether the Praetorian Clockwork conned gray to the player or not.
If they DO manage that change to the aggro system in GR (and further, perhaps propogating it into Paragon and the Rogue Isles at a later time), it'll be a really neat change. -
Quote:If she wasn't in the room flagged as the "end room" she could have spawned at +1, just like any other mob. Then add +2 for difficulty and +2 for doubling. Voila! +5 AV!Yup.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=194423
Been going on for a while now and so now with TF's at -1, flashbacks at minimum spawn level and regular content normal but with x2 difficulty AV's they've finally succeeded in knackering the settings of the entire game...
Don't know if it's as simple as doubling though, we had a level 42 +2 enemies villain team that spawned a 47 Numina in the conclusion of a patron arc, that was all kinds of not fun, especially when her incomings started as well... -
Quote:I frequently do nice things for others in the game. For example, when I delete a toon, I often convert as much as I can of their possessions to Inf, then find a lowbie with no vet badges and hand it over. I've gone as high as 15 million before.Because sometimes being nice for no reason is actually a good thing?
Beggars in video games are like the people who sit on the sidewalk downtown in $200 ski jackets, panhandling while they smoke cigars. I don't give them anythingeither - They're obviously capable of getting it themselves. -
That makes even less sense. Why should I go earn the money for someone too lazy to do it themselves, regardless of how easy it is?

Quote:I like Axis Breaker. There should be! ::Pounds fist on table:: I'd like to suggest "Fascist Buster" or "Axis Breaker" for badge titles.
Also, I think, but haven't tested, that 5th count towards the invisible "badge" for 200 Council kills that unlocks Council Guns and Ascendant shields. Not that that's hard to get anyways. -
Quote:I farm for badges at -1x8, No bosses, No AV.Can you get 8 people together for 5 minutes in IP ?
If so start the statesmans task force with them, let them go on their mery way and then farm the mission by your lonesome. You can achieve even greater efficiency by broadcasting on your servers/Badge/TF/etc channels that is exactly what you want to do. You can probably get at least a few people that will help you out getting the badge because they want it too.
With No Bosses set, you still get bosses, and at 8 man spawns, there are usually 1-2 per spawn, but they all scale down to Lts. And they still count for the badge, even scaled down.
As far as earnings go, you still get level 50 common IOs, and you still have the same chance for a purple drop. Your Set IOs are a mix of 49 and 50s, and you get a bit less Inf per kill, and you lose a bit more by scaling the bosses, but you're killing more, quicker, so it balances out fairly well. -

In the Q&A at the end of the keynotes, someone asked about supergroups and side switching. Posi's answer basically boiled down to "We haven't decided what we're doing yet, because we want a solution that everybody will be happy with."
-
As far as I know, there has been no official announcement of an event, or even an update to the affected mission.
-
I've also found that PBAoE attacks have difficulty deciding what's in range if you fire them while moving. If you haven't come to a complete stop before using it, there's a chance that it might be deciding that nothing's in range, even if you're bumping into them.
If you attack someone and miss, there will ALWAYS be a "MISS" over their head. If you're using the power and seeing NOTHING, no damage, no miss, nothing else over their heads, then they're "not in range", and you're suffering from the problem I mentioned. -
The "Enhancements have no effect" setting does the following:
-Makes all powers act at their base level, as if unslotted.
-Disables all set bonuses, from regular, purple and PVP sets.
-Stops procs from firing.
In short, your enhancements will have no effect. -
Quote:It's not a rumor, it's in the patch notes. Of course, as it's passed from one person who doesn't know what they're talking about to the next, it gets more and more distorted.Merits are the same for failed or successful missions. The rumor I heard that if you fail 2 LGTF missions, you'll get 1/2 merit reward, turned out to be just a rumor.
BTW, very often, the speed runners are vet TPing Penny insted of killing her, so they failing only 3rd mission.
The way it works is as follows: Failing the last mission of a Story Arc or Task Force will cause the Merit reward to be reduced. The exact reduction depends on the total number of missions in the Arc/TF. Failing missions prior to the final mission does not affect the reward.
Off the top of my head, the following TFs are failable:
Cavern of Transcendance (let the timer run out)
Eden (let the timer run out)
Abandoned Sewers (let the timer run out)
Katie Hannon (let Katie's Soul die)
Though they seem failable, neither Hess nor Hero Respec trials are failable. With Hess, you have already won when the self-destruct is initiated, getting blown up just gets you a little debt. With the respecs, failing the last mission does NOT end the TF. Calling the contact results in them telling you to try again and resetting the last mission.
Every other TF ends with a goal that can't be failed. As such, any TF except the ones I listed will give full merits, unless the team disbands before completing. -
Any enemy that was on you still is; the caltrops effect has just added a "leave this area" effect that takes precedence.
Step off the caltrops, and the enemies will come back to you.
Tanking is far more effective when you're mobile anyways.
Of course, if you're herding, the trops are gonna screw things up. But I'm not gonna get into the "tanking vs herding" debate. -
The -def part of the Rage crash can be negated by re-casting Rage. Three recharge SOs in Rage, and it will be back up in the middle of the crash. One or two small recharge set bonuses, like those in Crushing Impact, and you can recast it just before the crash, completely avoiding the -def part of the crash. Nothing you can do will negate the -Damage or -end part of the crash.
Even if you do let Rage crash, you have fairly good resists. When I decide to ride out the crash, I rarely lose any significant amount of Health.
Be careful against Psi foes. You get no Psi resist, and some Psi attacks have no positional component, meaning that they can hurt pretty bad. Judicious use of your Knockdown powers to stop them from attacking usuallywill render them useless though. -

Quote:It's been suggested many times. Castle replid to one of them and said that there's no way for the system to do a "retributive strike" power, and that if it were possible, he'd already have pitched the idea to his higher-ups.May I suggest a commedy "Right back at you" kind of power. Something like you see in cheesy fight scenes in various kung fu/boxing/action movies where the protagonists are slugging it out:
Basically for some period of time (30s?) you immediately hit back any damage you take to the originator with a melee hit for the same damage (smashing though). So say a freakshow boss swipes you, you then smack them right back for the same damage.
Imagine the hilarity of pwning an AV with their own nuke... I guess there'd have to be a damage cap.
