Would you play this powerset? (Includes auto self destruct power)
I actually like it. You should get all the debt badges easily to.
Unless I missed something it seems really... really.. really really underpowered.
Its mitigation is scaling resists passive and... a toggle - to hit - damage aura?
Granted some interesting mechanics, but I think dying every spawn would get old really quick, when every other scrapper around you keeps right on going. I'd rather stick with shields, make everything dead and stand over the bodies rather than getting cut down every spawn and maybe taking some of them out with me.
A year or so ago I suggested a Self-Destruct powerset that was nothing but various ways to self-destruct and rez. There wasn't much interest, but some folks said they would play it. Sure, you'd pretty much be in perma-debt, but I'd be OK with that if it meant I got to constantly explode in glorious ways. (That didn't sound right, did it?)
Looks more like a blaster secondary to me. Take out perserverance, resilience, and rebound; replace with some melee attacks, and it really looks like a blaster secondary.
Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
I really like playing my Fire/Energy Blaster with Rise of the Phoenix.
So yeah, I guess I'd play it. Exploding when you die rather than when you rez would be pretty cool.
Blind Rage should have self damage rather than -Defence. The defence debuff would expose you to more to hit and damage debuffs just by virtue of being hit more often, which goes against the set. There'd be no fun in beserking in the middle of a bunch of ghosts you couldnt hit.

Do.Not.Want.
The only and last hokey concept build I did was a secondary [fortunately not respec] where I maxed a 50 MA for knockback. It was horrible. This looks like fun for a day.
Go ahead if you want.
This set is interesting. Good luck getting picked to go on a master run though. Lol

But if you self destruct all the time, you would never be defeated. What is the risk? You jump into the middle of a mob, stab yourself in the face and they all die.
Then you have the whole sucide bomber theme going. Can you say BAD PR?
Seriouslly though. I don think I would play it. But the general concept sounds like it would work.

Sounds very interesting, I wouldn't play it but only because I'd rather play a defense based toon than a resistance based toon. I made the mistake of rolling a dark/elec scrapper for a weekly team night; never again! I should have made him elec/sr.
But back to the subject, I think the tier one power is a bit much for that level considering how often one face plants early on. It may even discourage players from continuing on with the build.
Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

I like the concept in general, I really do... but I have two problems with the set.
First, other than scaling resists and mez protection (and the tier-9), there's no defense, no resistance, no +HP and no +regen. This secondary will get people dead, fast. I understand that the secondary is geared for damage, damage and more damage (+recovery, +recharge, +damage TOGGLE... check), but damage mitigation in this set will be WORSE than what Fire armor has to offer... which leads me to my other problem with the set.
The second problem is... what niche does this set cover that others do not? Fire is pretty much THE set for MORE damage LESS mitigation. Few find the set viable (though that's debatable), but one thing nearly everyone would agree on is that Fire is squishy. Other than concept (which I really like BTW), what does this set do that Fire does not? I still like the concept, I just think it needs to actually be a tad more survivable and have more of it's own niche before it could/can get implemented.
Would I play it? Heck, yes! I'll play anything in COH, especially if things die.
I do like the concept, but I'd like to throw in some improvements. Instead of scaling resistance make, make it scaling damage and recharge. (Note that the math for that balancing is beyond me.) As far a defense is concerned, your unnverving presence concept should be expanded to the prevailing mode of damage mitigation, i.e. not make you stronger but your opponets weaker. Make the set more similar to DA as far as fear and stuns and then add -dam, -to-hit, -acc, -regen, -recharge auras somehow instead of rez toggles or passives, defense, regen, etc. I think the key to this set is only as the situation becomes more dire the toon gets stronger until his/her rage explodes (or implodes- and provides knock-in NOT knock-back) and is self-consuming, but standing there he/she is in no way buffed only debuffs attackers.
Will this provide a good enough nitch to be adopted? Sorry probably not, but I like the brainstorming.

I like the idea of a berserker set, but I wouldn't design it so heavily centered around basically dying/failing.
I personally would not play the set as you have it layed out, because the toon would have a ridiculous amount of down time compared to other sets.
Well, it's not a "click and I go boom" power. ... It's a "If you kill me, it's going to hurt."

Basically for some period of time (30s?) you immediately hit back any damage you take to the originator with a melee hit for the same damage (smashing though). So say a freakshow boss swipes you, you then smack them right back for the same damage.
Imagine the hilarity of pwning an AV with their own nuke... I guess there'd have to be a damage cap.
May I suggest a commedy "Right back at you" kind of power. Something like you see in cheesy fight scenes in various kung fu/boxing/action movies where the protagonists are slugging it out:

@Roderick
I came up with what I feel is a unique powerset for scrappers, and perhaps stalkers/brutes. I've been through a few iterations of it on the suggestion forum with some positive feedback, and now I'm looking to get a bit more exposure on my idea.
I want to know from the eyes of the veteran scrappers whether the set is playable or not. Would you play it? Does it look fun? Is it lacking anything? Is it balanced, or at the very least, capable of being balanced? Are there aspects that can be abused?
I'm not going to post the whole thing here, merely direct you to the thread which is still in the suggestion forum. The link in my signature takes you directly to the latest revision of the aforementioned idea.
Let me know what you think. Thanks!
