  1. Kat/WP or Kat/SR. Either of those would be excellent.
  2. Shutdown is better than all the crashes. Including the last crash that happened right after I got my first respec recipe drop ever. Mapserve and come back and it is gone, poof. There goes 70 million or so. <sigh>
  3. Another common stated advantage of earth over ice for vets is that earth's -def overcomes the vet attacks poor accuracy. Makes up a lot for the low damage of earth having three hard hitting free attacks starting at level 1. I find it a lot easier to solo an earth over an ice now a days.

I'm not entirely sure why they've done this for some powers and not for others, but I'm hoping that they get to it eventually.
And my ice blast and AR defenders hope they don't. As a defender it is nice to have some powers that actually do a decent amount of damage thanks to the pseudo pets (ice storm, blizzard, ignite).

So yea, your hope is my defender character's dread.
  5. Not one mention of pairing gravity with the new /cold? What I was thinking of...Seems like it'd work well, only drawback is having to wait so long for sleet. On the plus side you'd get to turn singy into a floating snowball.
  6. Loving my Dark/AR, lvl 37 now. Between tar patch, petrifying gaze, and the pet immobilizing things for you sometimes too, you can definitely leverage ignite's great damage.

Also, I'd think AR takes the crown of best defender AoE damage possible now? Feels that way at least. Good AoE damage overall and I haven't even got full auto yet.
  7. Or they could actually post announcements in the announcement forum. The one they gave the subtitle of

"If you need to know about...here's where we'll post it."

Guess they didn't think we needed to know about it.
  8. I guess it does if they expect us to always hunt through dev digests to see everything. Silly me for expecting it to be posted as an official, "Announcement" section of the forums, not in the discussion section, as something as serious as this.

Edit: Thanks for the link though.
  9. Wow, log in the next day and the store is STILL unavailable as well as my extra slots. And still not even an announcement about it.

Now we add poor communication about the problem to my complaint about this.
  10. Yea, have to agree. Once it is unlocked it should stay unlocked. From this it seems they reverify every time you log in that each slot is "purchased" or not. Sorry, but that is beyond the pale of bad software design, IMHO.

I think you need to read the entire thread. Today's issue on Virtue has nothing to do with the rest of the thread and I believe is something entirely different. There was another thread started on today's issue already.
  12. Yea, west coast is having bad issues today too, but it seems different than the on-going east coast issue. Hopefully it won't take as long to fix.

Why I play on two different servers (one east, one west). Couple of years ago West coast servers were having the exact same red spike issue and it took months to fix.

Right now, both coasts are bad though.
  13. Yep, for me it's either this on the West Coast servers or the lessor but more frequent red spikes of lost packets on the East coast servers. East coast thing has been going on for a month or so now. So do I want my netgraph to have a few big red chunks or lots of little red spikes?...decisions, decisions.

    Screw Rad blast

    [ QUOTE ]
I also wanted to see Dark Blast more than some set called Rad Blast.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same because I think it might be fun, I find it funny those that think dark blast would be overpowered. More like underpowered IMHO unless they make some big changes. Especially the amazingly wimpy heal of life drain as a worry? Aid self heals for over twice as much at base, with only a slightly longer recharge (20 second instead of 15). Drain psyche has already been brought up which also more than beats it.

Blasters are all about burst damage and dark blast lacks it big time. I think dark and electric are actually pretty similar, both trade burst damage and a third hard hitting attack away for extra safety and control. And we know how popular electric blast is....even though I like it.

    Vigilance

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    - I have never seen once a defender turned down for a team because of their inherent power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    True.

But... I HAVE seen Defenders turned down, because they are Defenders.

I have witnessed someone kicking a good Defender out of a team, to make room for a Controller.

And I have experienced the boggling and dubts that accompany trying to find a team, and not just being ignored, but being rejected.

It has gotten better since then - it seemed when I started the game there was "lol defenders" phase going on... but it sticks with me.

I keep hearing how awsome Defenders are... but I have yet to SEE it. I have yet to EXPERIENCE it. All I've seen is that they start off as pathetic, and - with time, effort, and at least 22 levels of pain and masachism behind them - they can turn into something... mediocre.

So! I have no scary number to back myself up. Just a feeling in my gut that... something's broken, and it needs to be fixed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have seen some of that as well. Mostly in the curious requests on broadcast or on the global TF channels where more and more often I see "need controllers and corrupters for ITF", and not defenders. And some of the same for AE (which I tend to avoid except for making my own missions anyway so no biggee to me there). Anecdotal I admit, but I also wonder what it'll be like when Going Rogue gets here.

On the other hand I've seen how awesome defenders can be, so I can say I have experienced it.

To the original point I think my problem with vigilance is defenders were already awesome on teams, so getting an inherant that only works on teams, well, just isn't very helpful. Whatever it is, I'd like to see something that works solo too. With more people in AE I find myself solo more often than before so I'm finding defenders tougher to play now a days.

    Sonic upgrade

    [ QUOTE ]
Here are my thoughts on Sonic:

Sonic Siphon: I recall this was an AoE when Issue 5 was being tested but in one of the patches that moved powers around it got made into a single target effect. Honestly though it wouldn't hurt to have it as a small AoE like Acid Arrow is and you wouldn't really need to change any numbers with it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you, that finally clears up its animation to me. The way the power animates always made me think it should be a cone. I always just thought the devs were crazy giving it that animation for a single target attack. It does not fit at all.
  17. Vazh mortificators. They will kill their friends, rez them, and them kill them again.

    Server status

I might need to add a new ignore rule to my list...anyone who threatens to leave this game for Champions when they post a complaint gets added to my ignore. Will be #2, #1 of course has long been anyone who uses the term "fanboi".
  19. It can be painful early, but the right IO slotting ends any real end problems. I have a spines/DA scrapper and I always say if I can make that have no endurance problems, anything can work. That is running 10 toggles including all the DA ones (except the fear aura), tough, weave, and even quills. All going 24/7 except in Wentworths because I don't want to be one of those people who leave quills running in WW.

I don't even have any of the special +rec uniques with the exception of 1 perf shifter chance for endurance. You do it by slotting the right IO's and getting 60-80% endurance reduction on everything (attacks most importantly), without sacrificing damage either. At least that's how I did it.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Kinetics if you're looking a non-dark set, since that set is all about stealing power from foes. Of course that follows a more spiritual vampire theme than a traditional theme.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yea, was thinking kinetic/dark would be good.

I think the best would be mind/dark controller...if they ever let controllers use dark as a secondary. You could build one as a foe in the AE and I bet it'd be pretty scary in more ways than one.
  21. Welcome.

Fire melee for scrapper is very good damage and would fit your requirement.

Fire armor is good and fits your theme and desire to go all out damage, but be aware it tends to be a bit less sturdy than other scrapper armor sets. It is certainly workable though, especially if you work on eventually getting the more powerful enhancements later.

"Better people" is up to debate. The two most populated servers are Freedom and Virtue, that is not up to debate.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
The defender version was ghastly, but I am having good success with the blaster primary. It seems to be doing better than my archery/ at the same level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exact opposites of my experiences. Electric blast's damage over time seems decent to me, but it's burst damage is poor. That taken into account, it works better for me as a defender set than blaster. That is examining the blast set in isolation of course, go something like elec/elec and you can overcome that with the melee attacks if you want to blap with some nice burst damage.

Also noticed however, that on a defender Volty does almost as much damage as the tier one blast. The blaster version doesn't do anywhere near the same as the tier one blast. So it seems volty as a "pet" isn't knocked down as much as the regular defender blasts are. Add to that volty's slow steady damage tends to come into play more often on a slower killing defender compared to a quicker killing blaster. I find him more useful to defenders.

As to archery, it can get all three of its ST attacks by level 6, including the massive damage of blazing arrow. Add that to the extra accuracy boost and endurance discount which are more important in the lower levels than later. Archery is fantastic at low levels for a blaster. So, really different feel than you on that one.
  23. I skip hasten on my kinetics because I get tired of hearing the hasten sound effect go off constantly. For those that haven't noticed, if you have hasten active, hasten's sound effect goes off again everytime you cast a power with any kind of pet or pseudo-pet. Kinetics has a lot of pseudo-pet powers.

Minor thing to most people probably and I know a lot don't even play with the sound on, but it gets on my nerves.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Popular suggestion, though just as popularly countered with 'For the love of all that is holy, can we get something besides a smashing/lethal set for melee?'.

There's plenty of variations on the theme in the Powers sticky in the Suggestion's forum.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For melee sets, Psi blade came in 2nd on the poll after dual blades if I remember right. It is for sure the one I voted for. Still hoping it is next anyway.
  25. This thread was worth a chuckle.
