I'd go Katana/SR. Build for Acc/Recharge/End until SO's.
Take Divine Avalanche as early as possible and slot it out fast.
Once you hit SOs, it just becomes completely unfair to NPCs, even to +3 bosses.
Also, Sprint+Swift+Quickness+Ninja Run will have you seriously debating whether or not you'll need a travel power. I know I'm considering respec'ing out of SJ right now.

Kat/SR will be very nice once slotted.
But i'd always choose Shield if i was going the DEF route.
I've had SR an it's dull, it's awesome, but dull. Shield charge just makes a good set even better.

Hard to argue against shields, but the OP was building a ninja themed toon...
I'd go DB/WP, DB is a pretty set and willpower is tough from the start to the finish line.
Some nice new chinese swords in broadsword (and DB for that matter). Dont know if kat has the new swords.

It's worth noting that, unspectacular as it is, Quickness gives SR both a movement boost and a recharge boost, both of which are considered desirable when slotting out almost any character. Yes, it's not Shield Charge, but it's not chopped liver either.
It might mean your foes wind up with chopped livers a little bit more often per minute of combat, though.

My vote is Kat/SR. Thematic for Ninjas, and an all around awesome build from very early on. (Capped Melee defense at lvl 12? OMG!)

I want to take advantage of the new Ninja Super Booster pack because it finally has things I have always wanted to make.
I have several options on the all " natural " Ninja themed character.
Broadsword/Shield
Broadsword/SR
Katana/SR
I kind of what to stay with these themes although I have given some thought to Willpower and just turning all the effects down to look more " natural ".
I would like some thoughts from the people that have played these sets. I think I am laening a lil toward shield as I have a shield because there are lots of shield options.
