I have a friend who's played since may 04 who is always looking for a PL mission, he's had two accounts active for years, one's filled with 50's and he still plays and pays.


The notion that a PL'd toon will always lead to a lost subscription is just the boogyman the "leveling purists" drag out whenever the latest "farm" is devastating their gaming experience, somehow.


If someone doesn't like cox, you could throw a bag of purples at them and they'll still just uninstall the game.
PL'ing now and then, like 2XP weekends, just keeps a players interest alive, if you chose to take part in it.


Statesman dedicated himself to hunting down and killing pl'ing, and gutted at least one power set in the process.

Positron went berserk over the gift to pl'ing his team handed players, and turned off a number of returning subscribers in the process.

War Witch "seems" to have a fix it and move on pov, lest the aging game she helms looses anymore subscribers.

I like to think of Empathy as a ham sammitch which radiates ham goodness to fix all that ills.

This, scrappers were insane with all ho's especially regens, but all hami'd tanks were godmode hands down, and all ho'd burn tankers were like the wrath of god because of how stupid op burn was, and with a complete set of ribosomes including in tough they were nearly unkillable.


Watching a single ho'd fire tank pull an entire map set for 8 of purples, then call down armageddon on 70 werewolves crammed into a rock was a religious experience.



A ho which effected three aspects were 32% for each, the dual aspects were 50%, and I have to agree with some of the comments about a completely hamidon enhanced build prior to ed gdr etc, regardless of the AT, was like playing a different game then we play today, regardless of how many billions in ios you spend now there isn't a remote comparison to the levels you could reach before the major nerfs.


You really couldn't have experienced the full ho-godmode on any AT if you believe having basically double what is possible today in most categories somehow makes todays AT's better, even with the full roll out of the last tier Incarnates there wont be characters of any AT as over powered as they could be during issues 0-4 period, it's ridicules even to argue that point.

I can't load the game because of this error whatever it is, the game will load in Safe-Mode, but I've tried moving the game folder (c:/Program Files/City of....) to c:/City of.., I've tried moving all game files and folders to a newly created "City of Heroes" folder in /Programs in case it was corrupted datetime information, I've tried deleting all the .dll files and checksum, I tried Verifying all Files.


It's running on an XP home that's completely up to date including the Nvidia card, with NOD32 virus protection.


I'm at a loss, I've done everything the past two hours but delete the game and start the 24hr download.


I've searched, the last time someone had an issue with this error was in 08 and there wasn't a solution offered that I can find.

I'm also running on a Win7 upgrade from XP, and I've never experienced the Tab Screen freezing issue, not even a flicker of hesitation. Without knowing anything about your system have you done the basics, drivers, virus scan, adequate memory etc.



And take any definitive statements offered by je_saist with a boulder sized grain of salt.

Really, coming into this discussion to share what you view as looking at this game realistically, but what others in the thread would consider pretty negative, doesn't seem entirely friendly.

This game has gone through enormous graphical upgrades, and is getting another one next month, for alot of people that's advancement. Sorry they can't keep up with your advanced HD gaming needs.

You haven't played with some of the better tanks then that's a fact, I mean even I got to 50 on a fire tank only dying once during the eden trial, through all the AV arcs and running just as hard and fast as any good team.

This isn't a console were dying is going to be inevitable, there are a lot of players I've teamed with from these forums that play ballz to the wall and very very very rarely get defeated.

The key obviously is not getting in over your head, if you can't anticipate that then take rotp and fill your tray with rezors, and you'll be giving tanks a bad reputation by playing that way.
