Quote:This would make me very, VERY happy. The worst part is that this could be solved with a compromise. Specifically:
We are giving them away on Twitter, for free, during the months of July and August.
On the first Tuesday of September, we'll add them to the paragon store.
Still plenty of incentive to try to win the contest. It's free, meaning no money and you can spend your points on other stuff. And you get it before most people.
But those who don't win the giveaways still know there's a chance coming up, whether they try their hardest to win every time codes are posted or for one reason or another can't/won't try, don't feel frozen out.
And... Paragon Studios gets money from the sale of the aura.
You see, I want there to be more good word out and about CoH. I'm not worried about new players, but there's some old players that have moved on, and I'd love to see them come back. One in particular, the one that really pulled me into RPing on Virtue, I miss playing with very much. I'm pretty sure he uses Facebook and Twitter, so things out there to remind him of CoH are good.
However, the last time I seriously talked CoH seriously with someone was during the /e facepalm promotion. They asked what I thought of it, and the direction the community was being taken in, and as a friend I had to be honest with them. I don't like being put in a position of telling friends that I miss that they're better off finding a new game to RP in rather than trying to come back to CoH. Lately, I've just avoided talking CoH with people to avoid the subject.
GadgetDon's suggestion is exactly the right way to make everyone happy. Not only does it solve the problem of people wanting these things without the need to work outside of the game to get them, but it also gives you something to give away on the social media sites to build a base there. Also, seeing people with the new stuff in-game works as a good advertisement before it goes on sale. (Remember how people would gather when one of the early Titan Weapons people would show off the set?)
Follow this suggestion, please. -
Quote:The reasons differ from person to person, but as to why I strongly dislike it?I, for one, don't use Facebook because I have no real need for it. But I don't seem to have the same ... vitriol for it as you for some reason do. That's what I don't understand: the venom dripping from some people's teeth when the subject of social media is brought up.
I greatly value my privacy. I don't deal well with people by and large, and I don't want people knowing about my personal life. I also feel some of the uses people put social media to are, to be blunt, damned stupid. Yet, I often feel pressured to use the various forms of social media, like it or not. It's like they expect me to, and find it odd that I wouldn't want to spill details about my life, or care about their relationship status, or jump to read their latest Tweet about how long they've been praying for the Ex-Lax to kick in.
There's more to it than that, but I'll spare you the rest before it turns into a rant. I hate it, logical or not. That's all there is to it.
Now, can we PLEASE put "/em facepalm" on the market? -
Quote:/em facepalmWe will continue to support our other outlets (FB, G+ and our forums) with content/updates and will do our best to make sure that no matter what method you use, you have the most up to date information possible. If we've failed you in this regard, we certainly apologize, but it's not intentional (we don't play favorites).

Quote:Maybe he can be sealed away, much like Mot and Rularuu. Weakened in some way, then locked down so he can't do anything directly. To my thinking there are two problems with a "Defeat Hamidon" iTrial:
1) Can Hamidon even be killed ? The primal one always comes back and from my understanding its recovery from defeat is part of the game lore (there is also that weird text in LGTF). Perhaps Hamidon is not just a giant blob but the common "mind" of Will of the Earth, not dependant on any one body ? -

Hasten's been nerfed once already. I still miss the old version.

Force Bolt. It's an awesome amount of knock back, fast, low End cost, and it works at range. If you work things right, you can often use it to keep a target from ever closing to melee range with you while you fight off his/her friends.
Sending low level Hellions flying so far that you lose targeting lock on them is an added bonus. -
They say the victors write the history books, and I think that holds true here.
The day was saved, without the nukes destroying New York. Nobody's going to do themselves any favors by taking a stand that Nick Fury should have let the bombing go off as planned.
If the Avengers had lost the battle, however, then what was left of mankind would have held Fury as one of their greatest villains, the man that helped the invaders win. -
Not really. If you're trying to distract and derail someone, you don't go with the normal stuff they should be ready for. You throw them the unexpected.

Quote:While I don't agree with it being misogynistic at all, there IS another way to get the badge.Perfect Grifter.
This is a misstep. And a pretty misogynistic one, at that. I hope I missed an alternative for getting the badge.
All that's required is that the person running the Grifter does things right. Everyone on the team will earn it, not just that player. I've gotten all 4 Perfect badges on one run before.
Play any of the other roles, and hope that the person playing the Grifter makes the right choices. If they do, you get the badge. -

Quote:Interesting. Thank you for testing this. After I got home I tested on my Premium Account. That account has only earned 5 Reward Tokens and has filled Tier 3 with nothing in Tier 4.
Even though he had earned Reward Merits before the change to Freedom, clicking on the Merit Vendor does not bring up any dialog box at all.
So apparently until a Premium account fills Tier 4 (8 Reward Tokens earned) they cannot even spend any Reward Merits they have earned previously. -
Out of curiosity, what would you guys say are the ten worst HANDLED X-Men? The ones that should have been awesome, but were turned into massive piles of suck?
-
Doubtful.
If I'm going to regret time spent, I'll regret the time spent at work, having a miserable time. But time spent playing ANY game, especially when it involves talking to friends? Pretty far down the list of things I might regret. -
Quote:Yep, the market is gated. I think email may be too, but I'm not sure on that one. They gated the market?
I knew the IO system was limited to VIPs and tiered vets but didn't know they put basic market access behind a wall...lame. My apologies for making uninformed assumptions.
Strike all my previous comments on the subject of inspos then, I thought everyone had equal access.
Assuming email hasn't also been limited to paying customers, drop me a line in-game and I'll be happy to send along as many big inspos as you need- @nethergoat
I'll agree that large inspirations are a way past many problems (and one I'll use myself). But we can't assume that everyone has access to them, the market, or anything else gated behind a certain level of rewards or VIP status.
(Excluding Incarnate content, naturally. If you're playing that, you're VIP and have full access.) -
Quote:Really? Damn, I could have sworn that getting large inspirations and using the market required either being VIP or a minimum level of Paragon Rewards. A level you may not have reached before being able to buy access to First/Night Wards.I buy them in bulk off the market.
So can you, so can *anyone* who bothers to stop at the market before they log out and throw up a few stacks of lowball bids.
Yes, it takes *slightly* more effort than visiting a vendor.
The massive difference in effectiveness more than makes up for that one extra step.
My bad, apparently? -
Quote:Large ones are much harder to come by, and not all players have access to them these days. "Get large ones" can't really be considered a viable answer to a problem in the game when not everyone can do it.Use large ones.
That was my advice.
If you're saying you couldn't beat a couple of EBs with a tray full of large reds & purples, I'm doubting the veracity of your statement.
Quote:Your main issue isn't the game, it's your defeatist attitude.
How loudly would Controllers and Dominators yell if they started putting in ambushes of foes that simply ignore control effects? Pretty loudly, I bet. Well, having them ignore Stalker's stealth (and therefore negate almost everything that makes the class more than a second rate Scrapper) is much the same, but for some reason some people don't see it that way.
Remember how people complained that Marauder was becoming immune to Slash/Lethal, and his 100% resistance couldn't be lowered? He could still be beaten, with planning and the right characters, but it wasn't FAIR to those doing S/L that wanted the badge for taking him down the hard way. So, they nerfed him.
The game doesn't have to be totally fair to everyone, but it shouldn't be painfully UNFAIR to anyone. -
For starters, there's a reason feline aliens are a standard of Sci-Fi. I'd go with a feline base, then make it a bit "off". The Bio-Armor tail from the mutant pack and the old style, larger clawed feet would help. If you don't want a full feline face, the "Feline" normal face may do it for you (especially if you give him a scarf or mask to cover the lower face).
Gender? I'd say make it something that passes for male at first glance, then shift the male/female expectations a bit. Maybe some members of that race are born in a somewhat male form, but unable to reproduce? Add in a heightened instinct to defend its clan/pack/etc, and you also have a reason why it would want to teach others what it knows.
AT? Any of them would work well, though if you're going BIG I'd suggest avoiding Stalker. You don't want to drift into the realm of silly, after all. Staff should work just fine in any AT, though.
Personality? I like the idea of him asking "Why?" a lot. I could see him being SORELY tempted to press any odd buttons he finds, just to see what they do. After hearing about Mentos and Diet Coke, he had to run to the store to get the supplies to try it himself that night. Carrying a notebook at all times is a must, and he surely has shelves full of old notebooks filled with odd facts and observations he's made in his day-to-day life. -
If they do make the ITF the WST again, that would be the perfect time to put the Double EXP boosters on sale again. I know I'd buy a few, and use them.
-
*laughs* Okay, I like that one.
I was tempted to reserve "Puppy Water" on Virtue, then make a wolf person that used normal colors for the water attacks. (And then acts surprised when people expect yellow.)
Instead, I'll be rerolling my toxic dragon, "Poison Love" as a Water/Poison Corr. Turning the water dark green matches well with the poison attacks. -
No.
Given what we've seen of the Praetorian version of the Clockwork King, it's clear that he doesn't NEED an organic body to survive. He needs some kind of focus as his "body", but there doesn't need to be any life signs in it.
He's dead. He just doesn't realize it, and his power keeps his awareness intact and going. In a way, he's more like Numina's astral form, only less focused (thus the need for a host form) and FAR more powerful. -
Perhaps we could get this as alternate animations for the current Sonic attacks?
-
Quote:There's one way to do that, but not everyone can pull it off.Still wish I could go from the Rikti War Zone to Cimerora (or at least the midnighter club) without breaking a Co-op Team...
Call up the repeatable mission contact in Cimerora and get a mission. Set it, then have someone use Team Transporter to get the entire team there in one jump. Abandon mission or not as you see fit once you're there.
And while I can see why they wouldn't have a Tunnel gate in the RWZ, I could easily see one in Pocket D. -
Quote:And they've taken steps towards making that MUCH easier. Now, a fast hop through the Tunnel system (which can be found in both Mercy and Atlas), and you can grab a single explore badge in Night Ward to unlock it. No fighting, and it can be done as early as level 1.I would almost agree with the ITF, prefect level range, challenging enemies, good story line, however I think it falls short of being some of the "greatest CoH content ever created" for the simple fact that you need to unlock the zone, which is IMO is one of the worst designs in CoH ever.
