Oh, good, they managed to make them even creepier.
I happened across an old Furby while cleaning out some storage a few weeks ago. Must've been ten years old. The batteries were somehow not dead. It was like digging up a zombie.
Well a long time ago a person who I worked with brought his daughters' Furby in from home because it was driving his wife crazy. So we stuck it in a box and put it under our conference table and forgot about it. A few weeks later during a meeting with the VP of Engineering someone must have bumped the box waking it up. Nothing happened until the VP started to ask some questions about the presentation and suddenly a voice came out from under the table.
"BORING!"
I thought our immediate bosses were going to die of embarrassment.

That thing is just gorram creepy. Don't they run these things through focus groups? You'd think someone would've stood up and told them that the Furby looks like it's going to steal your soul.

I still have mine - I don't dare open the battery pack since I pretty sure I left the batteries in there when I got bored with it 12 years ago.

hehe they do look a bit creepier...
I sent this link to my best friend; he got a furby years ago while at work and took it a part and had its "skin" out for display and tried to make the actual mechanical part do random things.

I cannot remember which of my warped friends did this, but one of them worked with a girl who dragged hers with her everywhere she went. Including to work. Then one night she accidentally left it there. Said friend immediately snagged it, took it home, parked it in front of the TV with an... um... adult station running the entire time, then brought it in to work again.
To say that this thing would blurt out the most unreal things at the most inappropriate time would be the understatement of the century.

As much as people claimed otherwise, a Furby doesn't mimic what it hears. It "learns" English simply by shifting it's prerecorded vocabulary from Furbish to English solely based on the amount of time it's "hears" while "awake" since it's last reboot.
