One thing I haven't seen lately that I enjoy are P_P's posts about not enough loot or content or how drops are so easy to get when she plays like 35 hours a day.

Cool contest, nice work everyone! I vote for * ImagesByAlex's recreation of "Nymphes et Satyre" by William Bouguereau, the idea of the toons dragging him from his work into Paragon was a cool idea to me. Second to * Tacky_Tricky's recreation of "Pequenas" by Alphonso Mucha, I really liked the texture and colours.

Yes but the information was there, it is their own fault if they couldn't be bothered to read it.

it doesn't matter if they read it or not.
Post all the "don't eat people" signs you want on the Savannah, lions will still do it- that's their nature.
Players will find efficient reward paths.
If developers don't want them to, it must be coded into the game.
Asking doesn't work, period. It never has, it never will.
Their release of AE was like throwing a deer into the lion cage and then having a screaming fit when it got eaten.
Gamers acting like gamers is predictable and understandable.
All the fault here lies with the devs, the alleged 'adults' who threw a huge fit when their paying customers didn't use a toy they way they wanted them to.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why is this thread so long when this was posted on the first page? Giving people the means for an easy path then expecting them not to use it 'because they say so' seriously doesn't understand their market.

... the people who didn't heed the devs wouldn't find themselves in the predicament they now find themselves in if they had simply 'obeyed the rules'.
If you leave a treat on the counter, and you tell Jimmy its not for him, and Jimmy eats it anyway hes' gonna get spanked.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you're actually surprised that the treat was eaten, you don't understand your market very well either.
To correct your analogy however, said cookie might not be eaten by your one well mannered child, but put that cookie out on a table in your front yard, with a sign saying "delicious cookie, do not eat" where all the neighbourhood kids can see it. -

...That's *not* stoked about Going Rogue? For me, I see less pros and more cons. Like, if defenders make their way to villains, corruptors will most likely be ignored. People will prefer Tankers to Brutes. Am I just being overly-negative?
[/ QUOTE ]
My biggest fear is that I'll hear non-stop about morons who can't wait to go rouge. -
So, if side switching is permanent, I see defenders being even more wussy when corrupters are available blue side. I'm thinking mainly rads and darks.

Does the chest piece clip with super big boobies, like the vanguard chest piece does? Unfortunately my chest slider is stuck at max.

Here's my toon in pencil form. I haven't drawn in 20 years or so, lemme know what you think!

Instead of saying "all you get for $10 is a crappy wedding set", you could argue that the pack is purely fluff, and not required. The really cool stuff comes in the form of "free" issues (meaning they cost no more than your monthly) every 3 months.
The vet rewards are really not much more than shiny stuff so old farts around here can have some 'bragging rights'. They don't elevate vets to super-super-heroes, but they get something as a small token to say 'thanks for the continued patronage' from the devs.
But perhaps the coolest thing about this game is that if you announced in global that you're new and are having trouble getting to your mish, more than one higher level person would show up to pound the bejeezus out of the purple cons to help you out. This is the only MMO I've seen where players don't constantly ask "what's in it for me?" -
Why do they keep you behind glass though? Did they at least put some air holes so you can breathe?

Yeah the more I think about it.....
Isolation zones in Steel Skyway and all of Talos? Huh?
Thats not right.
Well we know Recluse has dabbled in time travel and the "resets" on the anchors in RV.... what if someone tweeks the resets a little too far backwards....
Anyone remember the Story arc with the time traveler from the 5th Column circa 1940. Of cource it still leaves the question of Nemesis involvement as well... this scenario seems to remove him from the game.
They've been talking about a shake up, but this would be mind blowing.
One more thing... 4 years? Correct me if Im wrong, but wasn't 4 years ago the beginning of the CoH testing (Alpha or closed Beta)? I dont think open/public Beta testing started until Feb, but 4 years is an important clue.... (And arent all the fallen contacts that were introduced after the initial rollout)
[/ QUOTE ]
You're right! Taking these clues in conjunction with the wallpaper, it means, they're rolling back to I1 and starting over. Remember, positron promised something we've been asking for since the beginning...we're going back to the beginning.... -

Its a stylised Ouroborous for sure.

It means that I11 and all further issues is a re-release of I10. Cutbacks, you know. -
There shouldn't be any level restriction. You want the name, you obviously care about the toon, therefore you should keep paying. Anything else should be fair game for active accounts.

I frankly don't feel that the two "support of quality player initiatives" features or more contests are in any way compensation for the lack of something that was billed as a feature of the game that'd be part of our subscription.

I'm still confused. What is Curse-Gaming.com's official relationship to Cryptic and NCSoft. What part of this is supposed to draw my attention, as a casual community person, to your website. Why? To put it bluntly...anyone can see that you have a unique forum title, Nimloth...but you're not a redname. I'm not upset, I'm just confused. Cheers!
[/ QUOTE ]
The City of Heroes Community and PR teams maintain a number of relationships with fan, community and gaming web sites. Sure, there are things we can do on our own sites, but it is part of our philosophy to support fan initiatives as we can. The bottom line is that we won't always be in a position to do everything we want (after all, who is)? By leveraging the capabilities of other interested parties and sites we endeavor to build and maintain our community.
This relationship with Curse-Gaming is one example. If you are not interested in taking part; no worries. If you are aware of interesting things happening in the community then by all means, please let us know so we can do what we can to support it.
[/ QUOTE ]
With all due respect, what exactly do you do with this site? as pointed out in many recent threads, this site os so out of date in most areas, it's like the game isn't even in business anymore.
Saying you aren't in a position to do everything you want is a misnomer. I don't see much of anything, much less not-quite-everything. "Leveraging" other sites means 'get them to do the work for you'.
Why not 'leverage' the NC/Cryptic staff to do something, or leverage their butts to the unemployment line. -
I didn't enjoy this event either. I'm not a fan of forced teaming, and teaming with the other side doesn't do much for me.
I forget who was what, but the CoT mission that opens the arc was WAY too frickin' long.
In the end, I ended up working the system so Snaptooth conned grey just to get it over with.
Sorry devs, two thumbs down on this event. -
I hope it's something that lasts, unlike the pathetic Prima Binder update system. I wish I could just stop doing stuff at work and still keep my job....hmmm, I guess that'll be my question for Statesman since he did the pdf thingy.

Unfortunately rules are rules. They have to be enforced.

All of them? Even questionable ones, or questionable interpretations of them?

Since NCSoft owns the space, yeah.

I am a by Gods customer and the amount of control I am willing to give a vendor has significant limits.
I am not particularly annoyed by the staff or the rules, but Christ and Horus in a crap game, folks, do you really go through life bowing to "the rules" this way? Accepting the dictates of authority because it IS authority, and telling others to do the same?
[/ QUOTE ]
You are more than free to vote with your dollar, and leave. Why is it so difficult to accept the rules of someone's house you're a guest in, regardless of whether *you* agree with them or not? Don't like a 'no pets' policy in a rental complex? Find another one without that rule. No need for drama.

I read enough in the blaster forum that convinced me not to make an arch/dev. Not what you wanted to hear, but it helps explain the scarcity of the build.

Why does everyone keep saying "Dominators need a damage boost but not to Blaster levels"?
Our holds have pathetic, minor to moderate damage. Even at a blaster base damage they would do very, very little. Compare that to Fire sword Circle or Total Focus or several other blaster secondaries.
Blasters have an entire set devoted entirely to damage. 5-8 damage abilities at range, compared to maybe 4 that a dominator gets outside of holds. The damage of our ranged abilities doesn't come close if we stick to a ranged chain (and I constantly gripe at dominators that refuse to melee)
No final-tier nuke. trust me, even at blaster base damage, that final tier nuke makes a HUGE difference.
No Boost. Most get aim. Most blasters get aim+boost (and there is no way in heck a dominator, even under the effects of domination and an aim, and even a couple of reds, can pack the punch of a boosted nuke)
So, in short, even if we got the base blaster Damage we would still not be outdamaging blasters at range, and doubtful we would be outdamaging scrappers at melee either (except dark, but that's a special case cause dark scrappers have better controls than dominators)
If you want to 'even it out' then make domination not affect your damage output. In fact, a lot of people would love this change as it would allow them to work out a more 'stable' style of fighting, particularly against minions.
But I don't think giving Dominators a blaster's base damage would negatively impact blasters or corrupters in the slightest, and at least on LRSF and other SF's they would be desired for their nice damage output, even if their holds are... less stable than desired.
Blasters would still outdamage in range and melee, controllers would still out-control, Scrappers and brutes would still outdamage in melee and outdefend, stalkers would still pick off the bosses better, corrupters would still outbuff, masterminds would still outtank, Kheldians would still do...whatever it is Kheldians do.
Seems like a neat, elegant solution to me, Doms would be wanted for their single target controls and area damage
[/ QUOTE ]
This solution makes quite a bit of sense. To add to it, I play corruptors, and while they're aren't meant to be blasters, they are supposed to be 'the nuke' of CoV. I play defenders alot as well, and I really don't see THAT much difference in def vs cor output. Certainly no one would say defenders are nukes, so yes, make doms damage= blasters. -

Seems one of my SG buddies has a problem. Whenever he leaves the SG base by the front door to re-enter Faultline, he finds himself stuck in a building. The building is invisible, and he can run around within its perimiter, but must be teleported out.
Dont know if anyone else has had this problem, but it seems rather significant, as it happened EVERY time he tried it.

It's a known issue already listed in Lighthouse's list. -
Was part of my 1st SGM last night, and the day after, I'm still confused, and annoyed by the experience.
Team of 8, roughly lvl 23 in new Faultine. Save the Steel Canyon Bank. We're all new to the experience, so we load in with instruction to rush to the bank. One guy was VERY slow loading, and broke the team up spatially, some waited for him.
I flew to the bank, others ran, jumped, whatever they travel- although the jumpers were often aggro'd and low in health just getting to the bank. I'm a DDD, and couldn't decide whether to heal the team, debuff the enemy, or plain attack. Didn't matter, I died within seconds of arriving at the bank, by a freaking AV surrounded by a small army of lts, etc. Way overkill IMO.
Rezzed at hospital, flew back, engaged AV as the team slowly regrouped. Fighting AV near the bank still, mision failed. Total time in mish, I'd say 5 minutes.
Having to fighting an AV takes time, meanwhile the bazillion mobs run away. Now, I thought I saw a WP at the far end of the map for the truck, and assumed the bad guys (assumed to be the AV, who is carrying a sack of money) reach there=mission failed. There is no way they reached that truck in that time, and if they did, screw these missions, they can have the money. Not fun.
