I think it'll be safe to say that you meet the minimum requirements, but you won't be using anything approaching Ultra Mode settings anytime soon. And if you're still having trouble finding the drivers for your graphics card, here's a link to the search results page from Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_wi...7.45_whql.html

I'm not certain that the minimum requirements have changed, but Ultra Mode did bump up the recommended requirements, especially if you want to utilize any Ultra Mode settings.
From the NCsoft Knowledge Base:

Also, as suggested, you may want to run CoH Helper. It will give us the info to suggest what you may need to upgrade or update. -
A little note on Walmart (not sure on EB/GS). I'm not sure if all Walmarts in Canada carry them, but my local store has both the 60 day CoH time cards as well as 30 day NCSoft time cards. The NCSoft cards can be used for CoH, Lineage or Aion.

Is your friend letting the launcher sit for a while or just giving up after a minute or so? I've run into the "Connecting #" thing a few times here and there, and the most common remedy is to just let it sit and continue trying to connect. The longest I've ever had to wait was "Connecting #12", which took a little less than 10 minutes.
Can't say that's a solution of course, but if it hasn't been tried, then its worth looking at. If it has been tried, then hopefully someone a little more savvy in this regard than myself will wander into the thread. -

There's a PuG code of conduct? I can think of quite a few people that should read up on that if that's the case, hehe.

Quote:Steer clear of proprietary systems, heh. If you're toying with the idea of getting a desktop, a good starting point would be to take a look at the systems in Father Xmas's sig. If you're gunning for a laptop, I'm not sure as I don't keep up on current laptop model lines.Thats kinda sad they upgrade their graphics and now I have to pay for it. Well thanks for the great answers, but I have one last question. What do I need to look for on my new computer so I don't have a problem like this again?

Quote:As far as I'm aware, Sapphire (and for that matter every other desktop ATi vendor) just winds up mirroring the reference release.
It's generally only in the mobile sector where the OEM Vendor's driver is drastically different from the reference driver.
Makes sense. Just thought I'd double-check, heh. Thanks -
Quote:Je Saist, would there be any issue with using those drivers direct from AMD/ATI or should I wait for them to become available on the Sapphire site?
Also: 10.5 is out now. http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx -
Only ones I really use at all are the Plasmatic Taser and the Recovery Serum. I may run into situations or character ideas that could use the others, but not yet. I've crafted all of them at one time or another so far, but those two are the only ones I keep replacing and using.

Ooo...for some reason the no optical drive thing went in one eye and out the other in my case. If this laptop is by chance not a full blown laptop and instead a netbook or so, there's a fair chance it won't be playable, or if it runs it will run only on the lowest possible settings. My roommates netbook can't get past the login screen, but a friend of mine manages to play on his, if barely, heh.

Quote:It probably does. Another thing for the Television to add to the list of requests. They're going to start feeling harassed since they just put out new drivers for us just after i17's launch, hehe.
It requires, as far as I understand, ATI to fix it in their drivers. -
Quote:I might never accomplish this on any toon.
- 50
- Two builds. One for damage, one for service.
- Five costumes I like.
- All unlockable weapons.
- All unlockable costume pieces.
- Has run all TFs.
- Has whatever the leading-the-team badge is beyond Paragon.
- Accolades, badges, whatever.
- I didn't start hating them and delete them in their 20s.
This pretty much in my case and thus far only one toon comes close to meeting those requirements (my main, an SS/WP Brute). Only thing he's missing are an assortment of badges (Ouro, healing, couple of mez and some defeats). I could care less about the Day Job badges when it comes to counting him as complete, but he does have most of them as well by this point. -
Little black boxes around objects? Do you by any chance have FSAA on? FSAA doesn't play nice with ATI cards, at least when Ambient Occlusion is on and the effect could be described as "little black boxes". If FSAA isn't on, then I'm at a loss, heh. And I may as well provide the obligatory "are your drivers up to date?" as well

You may want to at least consider what Je Saist has said before you call it flaming. Je Saist ran all sorts of different tests on at least a couple different lines of cards during i17 Beta and I for one respect her (i think her? never asked, lol) opinion, not to mention knowledge of this game and how it works "under the hood", so to speak. Its great that you managed to sort out your problem, and in fact what you did to fix your issue may help with the intermittent stuttering I've dealt with at times. But its no reason for you to rip into Je Saist with that attitude. Just my two bits though.

I'm assuming from you saying that you've tried from your "account page" that you're referring to your NCSoft Master Account. Perhaps try downloading it via the main CoH page here: http://www.cityofheroes.com/account/...of_heroes.html
I'm pretty sure the source is the same, but its worth a try. -
Quote:Aside from blank glass, this would be at the top of my list. Sure we can always get a friend or so to join the SG/VG and invite for you, but it'd save time and hassle just being able to do it yourself.

Well whatever the cause, my system is making more of an effort to clear at least some old data compared to even a week ago. Then, the game wasn't clearing anything when zoning or changing toons. It was all just being piled on top of everything else that came before. Now, I understand that it makes sense for some data to be carried over and that isn't a problem. The problem is when none of it is cleared.
A quick example of what I was dealing with. Say I start out by loading my main into Cap Au Diable then head to Cimerora via the Midnighter Club. The game would start out using around 880-900MBs of RAM and by the time I've loaded into Cimerora I'd be using 1.1-1.2GBs. Zone back to Cap and by the time I'm there I'd be using 1.4-1.5GBs. And so one and so forth. Watching the Task Manager the used RAM amount didn't dip down at all and just piled the data for the Club and Cimerora on top of the data for Cap and not clear a thing. Now though, I can watch the Task Manager as I zone following the same route and actually see the game clearing at least some data, to the point where I'm only using perhaps 50MB more than I was after loading into Cap as opposed to 200-300MBs more. So whatever the cause, it is doing something right now. -
I've wondered the same thing myself. I have noticed that old data is clearing (at least somewhat) more than it was for me prior to changing up my system and the patch on the 19th, but its still not perfect. I'll take what I can get, but old data not being cleared properly does add up after a while, even if the game isn't leaking as badly as it used to.

I believe you can buy the Valkyrie Pack as a standalone Booster. But there's no problem with just buying the Mac Edition and applying it to your account. A month of game time and the Valkyrie Pack would normally cost $25, but with the Mac Edition you save $5 and get a fairly recent hardcopy of the game.

I know this is probably the most overused suggestion, but have you checked to make sure that all your system drivers are up to date, in particular for your graphics card? And it may help if you let us know your system specs.

That would work great for me if it actually showed more than one mission marker on my map. But every time I've run into that the only marker on the map is the incorrect one, thus my way of zoning and then coming back. I hadn't thought of the /stuck idea though. I didn't think that would reset a misplaced mission door marker, heh. I'll have to try that next time I do the Seer Marino arc.
