Unable to connect

Is your friend letting the launcher sit for a while or just giving up after a minute or so? I've run into the "Connecting #" thing a few times here and there, and the most common remedy is to just let it sit and continue trying to connect. The longest I've ever had to wait was "Connecting #12", which took a little less than 10 minutes.
Can't say that's a solution of course, but if it hasn't been tried, then its worth looking at. If it has been tried, then hopefully someone a little more savvy in this regard than myself will wander into the thread.
You can checkout support.cityofheroes.com. There used to be a network tool which would ping the updaters but I wasn't able to find it.
If he wasn't able to previously connect it could be a firewall or a port issue if he's on a campus or something.

she left it connecting , it got to 30 before she tried to log off and reconect to see if it helped , she keeps trying but still is unable to connect .
She has disabled her firewall to see if that helped but still no connection , tried changeing the port but nothing , she is waiting to hear back from support at the moment .

Is she connected via satellite?
I seem to remember, that satellite connections gives trouble, where the advice was to open several versions of CoH while trying to connect, and when one connected then kill the rest.
im not to sure to be honest , i will ask her in the morning .

Some P2P programs now interferes with the launcher and login screen...since i17.
So does uTorrent. If she is running one at the time she tries to launch the game, that could well be the issue.
Took me a day and a half of screaming at my computer before I figured that one out.
I am writeing this on behalf of a friend , they are unable to connect .
They have tried flushing the DNS , and changeing the port number as stated in other post's yet still with no look , i am just wandering does anyone else have any idea as to what can be done to fix this problem .
Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated .
