I had a sinking suspicion when I saw hurricane as a power in the list...
something about a Water/Storm being able to have 2 hurricanes just doesn't seem to fly. -

The Nictus are immune to any kind of debuff and control I think (other than sleeps). The towers on the last mission of the STF, on the other hand, are a different story. You can safely cage one of those to eliminate some of the strain on the aggro-holder.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is correct, as far as I know. Detention Field can be used on Rom, but not on the Nictus. One thing to keep in mind about Detention Field, is that it will only work up to a +2 AV.
[/ QUOTE ]
Like any other mezz, you can stack the mag until it takes effect. Have successfully caged the patrons in STF with a pair of sonic defenders (will also work with one if you've got enough recharge).
[/ QUOTE ]
you can also... you know... slot it with one of those funny HOs that will increase the intangibility, say Endoplasms -

To advertise for the Emp/Sonics a little bit more...
Each Emp Fortitudes the other.
Each Emp Clear Minds the other.
Each Emp Adrenaline Boosts the other.
Alternate Regeneration and Recovery Auras.
No stamina is needed. You have Recovery Aura. You don't need to slot, take or even use the heals once you hit Fortitude. Sonic attacks from defenders stack minus resistances, recharge and fire very quickly. Enemies will melt before your eyes.
I have two brothers that play and we come up with many many duos. This duo is the most versatile and has lots of fun buttons to press.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd also highly recommend you both take Assault, tactics is probably not entirely necessary, but Maneuvers x 2 + fortitude would prove an interesting combination. -
they are not unique, but honestly, it's not strictly necessary to slot more than 1.

Unless they wanted to give Mesmerize the ability to slot recharge in to it... That still irks me, even is I can slot multi-aspect enhancers in it to work on that.
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought I read something about that getting fixed.
[/ QUOTE ]
it wasn't a bug, it was intentional
however, it can now be slotted for recharge. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
You can also get the 35 and higher enhancements from the Midnighters and Cimerora, no mission required.
[/ QUOTE ]
You do need to do missions to access Midnighters' Club and Cimerora. You don't need to do missions to buy and sell to the stores there once you're inside. So, missions are required but in a different way.
[/ QUOTE ]
no missions required to buy enhancements in the RWZ though. -

"~=" is Matlab notation for inequality, though most people are familiar with the notation "!=". ~= is also sometimes used to denote similarity, though : /
I think he meant !=
[/ QUOTE ]
It also means approximatly Equal.

*cough* -
All versions of lightning storm were changed to no longer inherit recharge buffs, this includes the defender version.
*if* it was not changed, it is a bug and will get fixed. -
well.
Hover is not really a travel power, and slotting Swift past the base slot is really not worth it, simply because the bonus is so small (you actually get more of a speed increase 6 slotting hover for fly speed than 3 slotting hover and 3 slotting swift)
that being said, if you are purely trying to save the power slot, you can easily take hover and skip fly and use the raptor pack temp power to get you around, since you can continually buy them. Hover is absolutely viable for in-mission use, and since the I14 buff, it really doesn't strictly need more than the default slot for this purpose, I still kind of like to slot it if I have the available slots, since you can easily get about sprint speed. -
I personally think they should make respecs a whole lot more rude! They're way too nice now!

I hope so, but in either case my argument stands :P -

Wth are you talking about? I have a 50 plant/kin and his SoC do NOT cause me aggro. The only aggro you do get is if you get too close to cast SoC in the first place. Do it from a distance and once SoC is out they just stand like morons.

Seeds > MC
but
Mind Control ~=~ Plant Control
I don't see an issue.
[/ QUOTE ]
wrong on both counts
Plant relies on Seeds way too much, you get a group that 's confuse resistant, say goodbye to Plant's AoE mitigation
Seeds is a cone, meaning you have to line it up right to get the most out of it, not necessarily a huge deal, but it is something to take into consideration
Mass Confusion is Aggro Free, this *is* a big deal, since it means enemies that you miss aren't automatically aggroed on you, in the lower levels when seeds isn't perma, everyone will attack *you* when seeds wears off.
Mass Confusion has a larger area, this is a big deal when you've got a group that's very spread out.
As for plant being about equal to mind... I'm not going to get into that argument past saying the only thing plant has on mind is AoE damage, Mind takes the lead on every other account. -

sounds like someone got pwned by a Psi/Energy blaster in PvP and decided to run to the forums to cry about it.
OP:
Cry MOAR -
but if you're looking for speed, I'd stick to Claws, Dual Blades, Katana, or Martial Arts, they're the fast sets.

Assault Rifle/Traps for Defenders
Dark Miasma for Controllers -

The underlying assumption of the thread is that Defenders have a problem that needs addressing.
I believe that assumption is hilarious

Mob
I was always under the impression that Mob was an acronym for "Monster or Boss" or "Monster or Beast" but I :shudder: just looked on Wikipedia and apparently that is a backronym -

In your opinion, what makes an Altaholic different from just having several characters?
[/ QUOTE ]
Altaholics go to meetings
what? -
D3s are usually considered the controllers of defenderdom, I believe they've got access to the most diverse number of controls
Stun
Hold
Immobilize
Fear
Intangibility
Slow
Knockback
-recharge
then there's the not so controlly, but still sort of

If you don't want to take the shields, then don't take thermal or just solo or pick a non-buffing AT. Roll an /emp if you just want to heal.
[/ QUOTE ]
But the heals in empath aren't as cool looking as thermals!

this, and damn if it isn't an overall nifty looking set -
Ok, so I know that Damage Resistance resists damage debuffs, my question is: how much?
Basically, I'm leveling an Ice/Therm corrupter and will be getting Heat Exhaustion soon(TM)
Heat Exhaustion has a 50% damage debuff, which is sizeable, but what does that mean when I try to use it against Statesman who does mostly smashing damage, and since he's /invul has a large resistance to smashing
Is this a 1-to-1 thing, or is it on some sort of a curve? -
you need to be on the ground for hurl boulder and fissure, you *shouldn't* need to be on the ground for seismic smash.
Psi Tornado is the same as the Defender/Blaster Psi blast version, it has a chance to do Knock-up -

There is no such thing as "Global" defense. Global just means EVERYTHING.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not Quite
you are correct in that most powers just grant +def to everything, but there is "base" defense which is technically global defense.
