  1. QR - I don't play stalkers, and I play very few dominators.
  2. Mmmm, more howling twilight please.
  3. Coming Storm (OP) from what the experts here are telling you, don't feel bad because someone says a poison user phails at a role that isn't really the poison users role. Not using the debuffs is what really is teh suk. Also, don't forget that alkaloid makes a good resistance buff against toxic attacks like snakes and arachnos toxic tarantulas. I wouldn't suggest spamming it, but alkaloid on your guy taking the alpha could make a significant difference.
  4. Just a nit to pick, on my stormies and colds I like freezing rain/sleet to be recharged on demand, so I usually make 85% recharge rate reduction a priority. Sleet is that good, which I am sure you know from experience.
  5. I won't argue about a mastermind that uses pistols instead of alkaloid, but I have a big beef with a mastermind that uses pistols instead of Envenom and Weaken. Get in the GAME. Debuff some foes!!
  6. Wait wait, I am no number cruncher but ice storm and blizzard are at blaster level, how is that weaker AoE than Assault Rifle?

    Basic Popmenu

Interesting. I am guessing it might be more useful for someone that isn't a hysterical button clicker with his mouse like I am, especially useful on a laptop setup.
  8. Hmmm, cold's best secondary? I would argue ice.

Rad isn't bad with storm, but there is conflict in using irradiate with storm. My new favorite with storm is ice.

Kin/rad is good as is /sonic, /elec for draining, and /dark

    Dark/rad is very nice.

Sonic/rad? not sure if I saw one. The rad blast would help carry on the effects of liquefy.

Forcefield/Rad is workable. I haven't seen a lot of those.

Traps and TA go with about anything. I personally like TA with sonic; YELL at that oil slick, BURN baby BURN.

Do empaths blast? The co-founder of the triumphant defenders is Empathy/Rad blast. If you were planning to pile up empaths, I would go sonic blast.
  9. /cold corruptors is a late bloomer, but in the late game it really shines with heat loss, sleet, and benumb. I recall one instance where my Ice/cold took it to Baphomet on a trio. The cold debuffs made the fire attacks tickle.

This gives 66.60% accuracy, 94.89% damage, 33.13% endurance reduction, 49.70% defense, and 42.40% healing.

I agree with the percentages if I can't get the Hami-Os yet. I also think endurance comes before defense or heal since the protector bots run out of end in long battles - no end means no heal, no bubbles, no debuff/stuns nor any attacks. Happily, they don't need much end reduction.
  11. One thing to note, you can get away with some default binds on certain mastermind pets like robots, but you definitely need to have a bind to push the grave knights into melee. It also maximizes your heal aura's efficiency if the pets are all together.

edit: you can also shield your soul extraction

I have to admit I find them less useful and more situational, because with having to lay down debuffs and the inability to both Build Up/Aim, not to mention the lower damage of the Defender overall, it isn't a guaranteed kill.
Defenders do a majority of debuffing already, including slows, -resistance, and -defense thereby leveraging debuffs that could compare to build/aim.

Defenders have lower damage than blasters so their nuke is not usually a sure kill on alphas, but as has been suggested, a defender nuke can definitely be an omega strike.
  13. I have a Necro/thermal: Indiana Fried Zombie, he is level 25ish.

I am feeling my way through the slotting, heavy in the zombie attacks of course. From the forums I gather that the lich should have more debuff/ctrl type enhancers thrown in. Soul Extraction is fairly uber. I like having 7 pets. My travel setup may seem odd since I have the vet esception on tier 2-level 14 powers. Cauterize needs some endurance reduction in it. I can't wait to get the big debuffs at level 35 and level 38, must have powers of the set.
  14. Ah the patron question: Mu does look attractive and the benefits of -kb in the immobilization is substantial. BUT, the OP is a Trick Arrow mastermind, with only a single protector bot shield to weather the alpha strike in bodyguard mode. Every bit of defense in bodyguard is defense to all six minions. If he were a /dark, /pain or /thermal mastermind, I would go for mu, you have the heal/auras. As a Trick Arrow, I highly suggest the Scorpion set. Your safety as you hit the debuff arrows will improve dramatically.
  15. I agree that early on Fearsome Stare needs the tohit max debuff route. I think the Dark Servant should have heavy tohit debuff enhancing and the proc is gravy from clouded senses. As your character gets higher in level, the set bonuses from Glimpse of the Abyss are sizable. Fear in itself isn't a bad mitigator either. Skip the Glimpse proc and drop a pure tohitdebuff in there for good measure.
  16. The debuffs and forcefield generator make the traps defender a potent nuker!! Nukes away!!
  17. Quote:
They're not needed, but most of them are situationally useful if you are not heavily dependant on toggles (e.g. Rad) and worth considering if you have some means of restoring endurance (Heat Loss, Transference, Powersink). And nothing says fun like going up in a big boom.
This has been part of my modus operandi for years, teams of defenders and controllers with stackable buffs like heat loss, transference, speed boost, adrenaline boost, power sink, other epic siphons mean you can roll your nukes. Take turns and maximize your nukes like no other class can. With bubblers/ringers/shielders on the team the safety factor skyrockets. Then, tell me about your dps using nukes.
  18. Asking for a new class is not redundant, nor confrontational, and it obviously started some discussion.

I have a radiation defender, he has fallout but not mutation. Ha ha. When they ask me when I am going to heal them, I tell them to hold still and I will hit fallout again.

I defy any equal levelled empath to block/mitigate as much damage as an equal level forcefielder with the two little bubbles, dispersion bubble and force bolt keeping the bad guys off the squishies. The empath will run out of endurance before the bubbles ever expire.

I do agree that fortitude and the buff auras are far more important than the healing so the fighters can keep surviving.

The constructive thing I found from this thread was that the free server transfers had been extended to the end of February
  19. The backstory of City of Heroes indicates that you don't ever really die, you are whisked away at minimal health to the hospital by teleporter. So, when a hero purposefully uses a foe to lower his health he is just alerting the hospital that he needs a tp right away.
  20. Not an acronym, but 'pez' means inspiration.

Most times if someone says SC they mean Steel Canyon, while they say sky for Skyway City.
    AP Atlas Park
GC Galaxy City, pffft, who goes there?
BM for Black Market but that is not commonly used

    BP is banished pantheon
    CoT is Circle of Thorns
    KoA knives of artemis
    DE is Devouring Earth
PP can also mean paragon protector as well as Perez Park

    inc is for incoming ambush

    Knockback Build

We had an old supergroup on Triumph we started called Pandamonium where the theme was you had to have at least one knock back/up/down power. It was fun with lots of storms, forcefielder, energy blaster, even a mind controller with telekinesis fit. The deceive and levitate really spiced things up, too.
  22. I made an A/R pain for giggles. A demented USO girl that went haywire shooting and healing all at the same time.
  23. The OP reported two forcefielders rock, so do a FF and a cold. I had an FF teamed with a sonic and a stormy for all the damage mitigation on a Kahn TF, very successful. When a FF teams with a kinetic, it's truly golden. All defenders teaming with other defenders find their AoEs become big buzzsaws of destruction.

I agree with Philotic aka Westley that the electric pool is the gold standard with a nod to Psychic mastery as a close second for the psy damage mitigation. My kinetics pick psy mastery usually, for the mass hypnosis to get in close and get a good fulcrum.

I would also concur that getting the red fortune set bonuses in your defense powers is a nice perk.

Finally, the knockdown in repulsion bomb is the key feature, it's like a mini ice slick or earthquake. With psy blast, you can ramp it up with psi tornado so they don't stand much at all.
  24. I endorse the Dumpleberry. Sure it's been a bumpy ride at times, but I too very much like where this game is.

Kicking the bleeding horse on the ground, I also wish they would market this game a little better.
