Good luck with the alpha strike without bodyguard.
  2. They will do that on defensive/stay if they get involved with a runner/flier/tp'er in a 'running' gun battle to the point they can aggro other groups and add to the frustration. It's part of the defensive more than the 'stay'.
  3. The number of AoE blasts makes DP very fun to use with kinetics. With transference you can blast forever until you break all your toys.

    Kin/psy

Kinetics have these aspects for success:

    Recharge
    Accuracy
    Surviving the Alpha Strike
Desired team powers outside kinetics primary

With resolution to the first two, I don't think a kinetic needs fitness (especially six slotted stamina)
Accuracy cannot be resolved using an Aim power since psychic blast has no aim. I would highly suggest tactics.
Surviving the alpha strike-your solution seems to be the fighting pool. I can't say how successful that would be. My kinetic went the stealth route. Pop a Run/stealth IO in sprint, you might find it advantageous.
Since you don't have the Aim for added accuracy, leadership falls in your lap for extra team buffs. This isn't shabby.

Your siphon power and fulcrum shift are woefully underslotted in my opinion. 66% accuracy buff, 66% recharge in both would be minimal in my estimation.

I don't like putting IO enhancements in powers for which that feature can't be used - your case damage in siphon speed. Kinetics is tight, and I would tighten that up.

I do like mass hypnosis, so much I would take it as soon as available, level 41.

Kinetics is fun, and I hope you don't feel like I completely violated your concept.
  5. Garent and Amy are gonna scrap over Fearsome Stare! Oooooo drama on the Defender boards. I am just kidding guys.

My two cents: on my darkities, I slot for uber tohitdebuff for those special hard targets that like to resist tohit debuffing.

    ColdySpots: Level 48 Natural Corruptor
    Primary Power Set: Ice Blast
    Secondary Power Set: Storm Summoning
    Power Pool: Teleportation
    Power Pool: Fitness
    Ancillary Pool: Mu Mastery

    Villain Profile:
    Level 1: Ice Bolt -- Empty(A)
    Level 1: Gale -- Empty(A)
    Level 2: Ice Blast -- Empty(A)
    Level 4: O2 Boost -- Empty(A)
    Level 6: Snow Storm -- Empty(A)
    Level 8: Freeze Ray -- Empty(A)
    Level 10: Recall Friend -- Empty(A)
    Level 12: Ice Storm -- Empty(A)
    Level 14: Hurdle -- Empty(A)
    Level 16: Freezing Rain -- Empty(A)
    Level 18: Health -- Empty(A)
    Level 20: Stamina -- Empty(A)
    Level 22: Hurricane -- Empty(A)
    Level 24: Steamy Mist -- Empty(A)
    Level 26: Bitter Ice Blast -- Empty(A)
    Level 28: Teleport -- Empty(A)
    Level 30: Frost Breath -- Empty(A)
    Level 32: Blizzard -- Empty(A)
    Level 35: Tornado -- Empty(A)
    Level 38: Lightning Storm -- Empty(A)
    Level 41: Power Sink -- Empty(A)
    Level 44: Charged Armor -- Empty(A)
    Level 47: Summon Adept -- Empty(A)
    Level 49: Conserve Power -- Empty(A)
    ------------
    Level 1: Brawl -- Empty(A)
    Level 1: Sprint -- Empty(A)
    Level 2: Rest -- Empty(A)
    Level 1: Scourge
    Level 2: Ninja Run

I threw this together for discussion sakes with personal priorities of blended attacks, must have primaries and secondaries, and there is a real crunch at level 20 to be sure. I have a Storm/Ice defender and a Cold/Ice corruptor both of which seemed to flow smoother.

The main function I am trying for is an AoE machine of DEATH. Freezing rain > Ice Storm > Blizzard/ or Frost Breath with a Power Sink endurance rebuff chaser along with Conserving Power because I KNOW Storm and Ice are both endurance hogs.

I know a lot of folks would choke at where I would take Bitter Ice Blast, but I can't do without Freezing Rain, Stamina, or Hurricane. It's in the Stormy Bible.

edit: I guess you could rely totally on the mayhem temp travel, start fitness earlier, and take recall friend in the 20s to get Bitter Ice Blast in before 20.
  7. There are all kinds of synergies:

Cold or Storm with ice blast > ultimate slooooow
    Kinetic electric > end drain
Kin, Storm or Cold with psy blast > turn back the clock on recharge!
    Dark/sonic > -resist
Rad/rad > defense debuff on an AVs scale
  8. 8 pages and still no:

    "There can be only one!"

    "Swing away, Merrill, Swing away!"

    "Vere volf? THERE Volf!"

"Lili Von Shtupp: Tell me, schatze, is it twue what they say about the way you people are... gifted?
    [sound of zipper opening]
Lili Von Shtupp: Oh, it's twue. It's twue. It's twue, it's twue!"

"One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach, all the damn vampires."

I rate Shadow Fall, Tar Patch, and Darkest Night as indispensible, but they do not have the immediate impact the dark miasma trifecta have.

This is exactly right, Siolfir. I bend over and fart and spend 50 cents a day on entertainment or excess food and beverage. Even the Red Box DvDs are $1, and you get two hours of entertainment. Buy in larger chunks of time packages and the savings are more.

    I need to vent!

On my kinetics, I don't have the vigilance to keep perma-SB. I do watch health bars and blue bars and hit transfusion, transference, and speed boost appropriately. I refresh speed boost between my 'cycles'. I try to keep siphon power, siphon speed and fulcrum shift firing within a couple seconds of recharging. These three siphons can make or break a fight as much as speed boost. Of course, I don't mind if a gentle reminder comes along, 'hey, I need some speed boost'. 'SB ME' every 119 seconds gets annoying.

In short, in a big group, I hope the controller kinetic would hit the AoE hold before the speed boost cycle, but you HAVE to manage the blue bars, too. Playing a kinetic can be trying, but that's what alts are for. Excuse me while I log into my Forcefield defender for a respite.

    Bots Question

I am not disagreeing with anyone wanting more information on protector bots, but for Statesman's sakes why don't they sticky one of these threads when it comes up again and again.

    66% Acc
    at least 66% dmg,

then fill out, six slotted, for defense, end reduction, or even stun, just don't waste a slot. I recommend against slotting for heal since the protector bots will wait longer to heal a minion until it takes more damage so that the heal is fully used. You have the chance for quicker deaths of minions with more heal than less.

This is exactly why my Robots/Dark mastermind took photon grenades for more AoE mezzing potential. I would also hit the HT before the dark pit because you WILL stun all the minions with HT, no chance for return fire from minions.
  15. The primaries really do play differently. I am a bit biased against ninjas - they are very kamikaze in my book. Thugs primary offense comes from the second tier, although the top level, bruise can lay out the damage, too. The arsonist plays differently between his first appearance and after the bruiser shows up on the chopper. Necros biggest damage dealers are also second tier. The lich is like a dark/dark corruptor boss. With the level 18 power you can have more than six pets out, too.

I haven't delved in the mercs much.

    Liquefy

I agree with Garent. Since they flop a bit like fish, not as frequent as earthquake or freezing rain, the safe spot for the squishy to position himself is directly in the middle of the effect. Melee attackers that do get through will be have their tohit debuffed. The defense debuff is more noticeable on harder targets.

  19. I have a storm/DP up to level 25. The default pistol, dual wield and empty clips are good. I found it very tough to fit all three in before stamina and level 20. If you do, you are likely to push back either snowstorm or steamy mist until after stamina. I think rain of bullets just looks silly, but its an effective AoE. I like suppressive fire. I am not fond of the whole executioner's shot gig. Penetrating shots is fun. The nuke is a must have. By the way, I experienced all the dp attacks during the dual pistols beta, so I do have experience with them if not on live yet.
  20. So Ultra, do you think the Posi Busting Elf should go for Taskforce Commander?
  21. For robots I would usually prioritize equip over upgrade for my protector bots getting their heal power for the other robots. The upgrade does give the first tier their massive AoEs, the Assault bot his AoEs, and the protector bots their AoE stun/debuff seekers and photon grenades.
  22. My style on my warshade is I try to look for the most damage potential and the most damaging setups of groups. In light of that, I use unchain essence, quasar and of course stygian circle to feast on fallen foes. I like my nova form a lot, too. In a way you can position melee minded foes into death zones directly beneath a hovering squid and then deal all kinds of AoE destruction from above.
  23. after that... defenders and controllers.
  24. I have rolled 2 /DP defenders so far. I will probably roll a traps/DP too. I really like how the powers fit together in the early levels on my Kinetic/DP, Billy the Kinetic. I don't feel like I am missing any major powers. Repel is quite skippable, and I am delaying Increase density. So far the Chem rounds stacked on siphon power seems to be a golden combo for dealing with boss damage.

Not such an easy groove on my Storm/DP. I want ALL the storm and ALL the DP so there is some conflict there. I am delaying O2. I though about also delaying steamy. I might roll up another build since I am above level 10 for soloing so that I have more than 2 DP blasts by level 12. Level 14 is travel; 16, 18, and 20 are stamina bolted in for the stormy end drain. This hero seems to be going to be a slow maturer, but by level 30 I should be set between defense and offensive balance.
  25. I just tried to get in again and the message was changed to say the server was not open to the public yet, yadda yadda yadda. So the test server upgrade is there, the elite few are tackling the big ugly bugs first.
