I did a little reading about this power (which I've just picked up recently) but I had a question or two lingering in my mind..

1) While the power pulses continually to apply the -def and -tohit, which are autohit, the *hold* is dependent on accuracy. And the hold is only triggered *one* time: when the power is activated. Is this correct?

2) In your experience, do mobs tend to scatter and run out of the area of effect? An issue if the team composition happens to be you and oh, say, 4 scrappers.

3) For slotting, I'm planning to slot for -tohit and recharge in 3 slots, then in the other 3 I'm thinking about putting procs: Lockdown's hold, then Lady Grey's and Clouded Senses' negative energy damage procs. Since the power duration is 30 seconds, am I correct in understanding that these procs with have 3 chances to be applied for the duration of the power?

1: Yes, that's right. The hold is pretty short, and its entire purpose is to soften the enemy counterattack until the knockdown sends all the enemies into flopping fish mode.

2: Since it doesn't deal damage, enemies will not try to avoid the debuff.

3: I believe you're right. You MAY get four tics if the power checks at 0, 10, 20, and 30 seconds, but I seriously doubt that.

I agree with Garent. Since they flop a bit like fish, not as frequent as earthquake or freezing rain, the safe spot for the squishy to position himself is directly in the middle of the effect. Melee attackers that do get through will be have their tohit debuffed. The defense debuff is more noticeable on harder targets.

Slotting Liquefy: Bare bones, 3x recharge, 3x -tohit. Max efficiency: 3x Membranes (Recharge/Tohit/Defense HOs). If you have so many slots in your build that you don't know what to do with them, you could add in procs, +range, or maybe an acc/hold HO or two. I tend to avoid proccing out powers with a recharge time as long as Liquefy, but it could work.


Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

Oldish thread, but just wanted to say that the debuff procs (lady grey and clouded senses) will have a chance to go off every 10 seconds, but the lockdown proc will only have one chaance. This is because the debuffs and the hold are caused by two different pets, and while the debuff pet's power goes off every 0.2 seconds, the hold pet's power only goes off once every 9999.99 seconds.
