  1. 1. Not really high as a general rule for base damage, but defenders have buffs and debuffs that compensate very well.
    2. /Sonic is very popular. /Dark has some fine features that bring many to call a Dark/Dark defender the closest thing that defenders get to being a controller.
    3. I don't know how to answer this as I enjoy the journey. Which end game are you referring to? Hamidon raids? Rikti mothership raids? Statesman Taskforces?
    4. No, many defenders pride themselves on being Offenders and taking it to the foes. My stormies, rads, and kins are VERY in your face kind of characters.
    5. Well, at one time I would have boasted that storm defenders were KING, then they nerfed the hurricane. I will only say 'no comment' to the current pvp, because I haven't dabbled any since the latest PvP changes. My PvP encounters are primarily doing the run for Shivans in Bloody Bay, hoping like hell I don't get ganked with a pocket full of components before I finish the firebase.

I wonder if the multiple-build code is the underlying functionality for the Going Rogue game, only right now we're limited to builds within the same AT. I haven't made any use of this feature yet, but I'm glad the devs saw fit to include it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know, I bet you are right. Dollars to donuts it will be something like a build change when you are in Praetoria and then you will have the opposite hero or villain zones available to you.

I wonder how quickly the cooldown to switch back and forth will take, or if it will be like a domination thing where you have to build up opposing faction to activate the switch.

You can rename them, too. >.>

[Elaine Benis]Get OUT![/Elaine Benis] *pushes Bill and scurries off to check his dual build Rad/rad defender*

Yep, it's true. I need to learn to read more while playing instead of just skimming. "Select Build Pug" is more informative than "Select Build 2"
  4. Stunned realization... this is separate from Issue 15.
  5. Most Rad users take accelerated metabolism. Most users of accelerated metabolism take hasten.

Irradiate is decent for a corruptor AoE, but the big thing is the defense debuff in irradiate - 30% for 10 seconds. You will just hit better especially at the lower levels.

O2 boost is a power more like clear mind or increase density with one of its properties being a minor heal. O2 breaks/prevents sleep, stun/disorients, and protects the ally from endurance drain. O2 will also boost perception radius negating the night widow smoke grenade laster in the levels.
  6. 1. Well for one, there are so many good choices and a limited number of powers you can take.

    2. In the late game, I like teleport on my Rad/rad defender while he is running choking cloud and having a stealth proc in teleport.

    3. Rad/Rad is really a beast.

    4. For all the toggles I foresee you wanting to run, you will want stamina. It is worth noting that the rad blast powers are lighter on the end use than their defender/corruptor cousins.
  7. Thank you for both quick replies. I tend to build/create modify my villain groups first and then attach them to mission attributes. This technique should handle the situation well that you have described.
  8. I didn't know this could be done. I was in a MA mission and the boss was a freak tank but he had a custom name. This is something I would love to be able to pull off: not necessarily tweaking the standard boss' powers but just to rename him. Please tell me how.

Powers look good, though maybe a few to many attacks, but thats a
personal choise. I would make a few changes

    1) Forsight at lv 20 22 or 24 no later (its just too good)
    2) Mindlink 22 24 or 26 no later (same reason)
    3) Smoke granade - not needed
    4) Spin or Evicerate, your two aoes ... I would get one of them a
bit earlier in lv, you have them so late
    5) As good as air superiority is, its over kill with all the
    attacks youve got.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The commentary here is solid. I could never take Mind Link later than level 24, such uber sauce. If you really want fly as a travel power, air superiority is as good as hover. You can knock things down, which is good, too. My widow took combat jump, slotting jump in sprint, and hurdle as its ghetto travel power. For going distances, my widow relies on the temporary travel packs. The extra smidge of defensive oomph in combat jump isn't bad.

I took smoke grenade later on when I was picking up some AoE features for the later game.

    Any thoughts from seasoned SoA's?

Novella spoke truth, but truly your both SoA's as long as you
take those leaderships and other "group" powers, youll be

even if you stay wolfspider and she stays bloodwidow.

  11. Sorry, a bit of a hijack, but I don't suffer from uniqueness often. I am sure others appreciate the headsup. I do have a fight in my mission.
  12. I have a local mission created and edited with no errors, but it says I have a 'invalid level range' when I try to test it. I have a set of villains set level 20-34.
  13. Bastion Task Force, we had this nimrod of a scrapper that would intentionally overaggro the whole 5th col cave map and bring them back on the team. We had many wipes, people were competing to voice how the team should improve. So the scrapper QUITS after aggroing at least four 8-man groups, along with a couple other players that were fed up. Most of the rest of the team was down or in the hospital except the empath and my stormy. I told the empath to hotfoot it back to the mission door, and I would cover her so she could recall friend and resurrect more support. Hurricane and tornado held back the oncoming hordes of Nazies while the empath did just that, and she even popped up close enough to heal my stormer from time to time. The remaining 5 of us had no trouble finishing the Task Force without our 'damage dealer' and the other two that got fed up.

    (1) Additional Character Slot: This reward is granted annually to each player that has been part of our Veteran Rewards Program. Months: 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 should all reflect this value.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does this mean we get 1 additional character slot for each year we've played?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes. I have all character slots unlocked on the only server I play on, so future year-mark Veteran badges won't really do me any good as far as additional character slots go.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You have 36 characters on one server already?
  15. If the bug was never killed, then its still ALIVE! GAH
  16. [ QUOTE ]
You can also walk away with a massive +7.5% global recharge from the Recharge IO here but that one is very expensive.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think 'very expensive' is a massive understatement like comparing a mile to a light year.
  17. Wow, they gave /FF to corruptors?
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
yeah that is true, but generally controllers r really preffered to defenders

    [/ QUOTE ]

    By YOU.

Insanely weak attacks? Pshaw. An attack is NOT just about damage, it's also about any other status effects it gives. A Sonic defender, a Rad Defender, a Dark Defender...their attacks add fantastic debuffs, which weakens the enemy allowing them to be taken down quickly. Throw in all the additional buffing a Defender can do, and you should be able to easily fathom why a Defender can be beneficial at any level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I want to chime in that psy blast and ice blast have decent debuffs, too, regardless of how much damage is resisted. Also, some individual debuffs don't stack on the same power, some do, but almost all of the various attacks stack with debuffs of sister attacks in the same defender secondary.
  19. A forcefield defender can still provide ~95% defense to a veteran pet. Add a little sonic resistance, I think the pet could last longer than the first AoE.
  20. Rambling thoughts on 24 pages of info.

    1. Yes, it's definitely a world without you.

    2. I don't have a 48 month badge, so how could it be a 48 month anniversary already?

    3. How many people perished in the Rikti War, for it to be overshadowed by the Outbreak plague means to me it didn't happen in the current time line.
    4. Don't we find Crey using portal technology in the Shadow Shard? Technically, Diviner Moros could cook up such a convoluted plan. Time travel/portal users: Rikti, Arachnos, Portal Corp, Crey Industries, 5th Column, and Nemesis

    5. Spoiler

.... if Nemesis said he uploaded his intellect, perhaps he already had before the encounter in the RWZ as a backup plan?

    6. If there had been no war with the Rikti, then the Crey could have pilfered the technology from the Rikti and claimed it as their own in this altered future. This is based on the open access by anybody to the Rikti world theory. Also, for there to be no war with the Rikti, you have to have some sort of change in how Nemesis interacted with the Rikti - a BIG change!

Awesome event, though I do think it could have been extended for another week or two.

Having said that, I love Lighthouse saying it could be swtiched on to full scale invasion insanity for just a day or two here and there. I think that ought to continue at least till the next issue, and I think it's kind of a spicy idea that any old day the Rikti just get cranky from overstarching their shorts and hit the warpath. Nice little uncertainty every day you log in, eh?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have very much enjoyed this event. I too found out late that the accolade power is more than just a token nod attached to a badge. My level 39 sonic will very much appreciate a burst of psy resistance through his career in the 40s against carnies and psy blasting named AVs like the Psy Clockwork King.

I think the random days of invasion madness could be prolong into the next two or three issues, just to get pumped up for getting the badges on alts that missed it so far. I don't know the direction of the rikti raid content on the game, but a random invasion day here and there would get folks attention.

To a previous poster... you only got 2 bombs each raid? You need to team up more, my friend.
  22. 399% graduated with honors? Obviously they don't teach MATH at the university.

It's too bad you have to have an empath with 36 months veteran badge and 50 million influence to be able to afford a single healing set.

It's too bad they couldn't find a healing set for transfusers and twilight graspers with some accuracy in it.

It's basically a slap in the face to non-empath defenders, the whole I9 spiel. Empath, scrapper, tank, that's all the devs want the community to play.

    Running power Sets (2 sets)

    Celerity: (levels 15-50)

Put 2 of the set together to get: a bit of reduction to how long you can be immobilized
Put 3 of the set together to get: a little bonus to how much health you have as well

    Quickfoot: (levels 10-30)

Put 2 of the set together to get: a bit of reduction to how long you can be immobilized
Put 3 of the set together to get: a little bonus to how much health you have as well

    [/ QUOTE ]

The point I was making is that it was previously listed as a set through level 30 only, but I received a level 49 Quickfoot recipe. Also I received two level 50 common IO recipes on my level 46, which I will use in due time
  24. I like this guide. Its simplicity is fabulous. I did want to mention, my level 46 mastermind received a recipe for a level 49 quickfoot set: endurance. I don't know if it's a bug.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
    ...

If he only hit you for 3300, count yourself lucky, he hit me for 4695 more than once. Overpowered ? Sure. But how else are the devs going to FORCE you to bring along a buffed tank. Everything else up until LR himself we did tankless with little difficulty. If they let that stand, tanks would be screaming bloody murder. ...

[/ QUOTE ]That's exactly my point about the cool kids. You shouldn't HAVE to have a Rad to take down an AV, you shouldn't HAVE to have a stone tank to take down another specific AV, you shouldn't HAVE to have a bubbler for the reactor core in the TV trial, but it sure helps. The core of all teams according to the devs has to be Tank, scrapper preferably /regen and an empath defender, and I say that's bullpucky! Why should they make a rad defender as nearly as invulnerable as a tank with RI against minion, lieuts, and bosses, but then neuter the HELL out of debuffs when it comes to AVs? I want this game to be more than green bar maintenance for the already overly self important tank. All the way up to ED we saw tanks solo the entire content of this game and then they cried and cried over the defense nerf so what do they do? They nerf the debuff, defenses, and controls of the squishies to compensate to balance PvP.
