Quote:That meshes with what the EULA/ToS *say* at least. I hope so, because I have explicit written permission from at least one author to use the likeness of one of his characters, but I really doubt anyone would recognise it anywayThis is hearsay, but I recall hearing of a published author who recreated his own characters in this game, got genericed, and successfully got it reversed because after all they were his characters. I'm totally blanking on the author's name right now, and I don't think he plays any more. No, it's not he of the Zuni mask, he makes up originals anyway. I'll think of it in a minute.
Jim Butcher, author of The Dresden Files. That's who it was, just remembered. Several years ago he played, supposedly. -
Every kind of story has been written, countless times. I guess you could break a concept into a name, a costume, a backstory, an alignment, and a powerset. Copy any four together and you're probably ripping something off. But really, it's all about intent. You know whether the character is your idea.

Quote:/this. Since Jobs seems to envision the future being entirely based on HTML5 (and displayed on a "revolutionary" tablet device!) I figured that would make sense for the iPad. But hey if it already works, it already works. Certainly it's not as full-featured as mids, but we are talking about doing it on the iPad, not a tablet with a full OS.I'd guess they're talking about HTML5's canvas element which allows all sorts of things to be done completely within the constraints of HTML. Someone did the first level of Super Mario Brothers with it among other things.

I've been quite please with this monitor:

As for keyboards... as strange as it seems, an old apple keyboard (bond-blue imac era) is the best I've ever had. Crisp and responsive, has worked perfectly for years. Of curse you can't just go back in time to a CompUSA or whatever >_> -
Holy crap, $1200? Screw the computer, buy a motorcycle or something!
Okay that was unhelpful you should get... um... you should... get.... a... get a.... motorcycle. It's warm out, I can't help it! I'm less than convinced spending $1200 on a computer is the best option. I mean a $600 rig will run this game quite nicely. One thing though; dual monitors can be quite nice. That way you can have music/messaging/teamspeak/whatever open without needing to tab. -
Yeah I used to be vehemently opposed to the hollows, but I'd recommend them now, especially If you want to team.
The only thing I'd say you would be remiss to overlook in AR/Dev early on is Targeting Drone. You'll run into other issues later on, but don't let anyone tell you AR sucks. it's just different. -
Quote:Hubuduwhat? I always thought Champion was #2 or 3 in population... But yeah most people go to atlas. Naturally I almost always go to galaxyChampion is a low population server. Try starting on the Freedom or Virtue servers in Atlas Park if you want to see more people

If a scrapping tanker is a skranker, is a tanking scrapper a trapper?

Really? I've found my /elec brute to be about as survivable as invuln, and I still haven't gotten around to respeccing into energize.

You may be familiar with another... computer thing... which may or *may not* be another game which came out around the same time as CoH... It's very cartoony?
Anyway they have a system of PvP which is sort of a cross between zones and arena, but it automatically scheduled by the game, and works cross-server. It's nice for the casual player, because there are goals beyond just a kill-count, and since it just starts automatically when there are enough players, no one has to organize it. There are certainly players who maximize their effectiveness by having the best gear available, but it's not a pre-requisite to participate and have fun. Then once you do it enough, you get access to some special gear which although not the best possible, gives you an ample reward for participation.
I'd love to see something like this. -
Long time no see. How's it going? Ever figure out what an Imeco is?

Quote:I'm curious: Do people prefer the markets now, where it takes hundreds if not thousands of millions of inf. to buy one set, or the markets before, where it took weeks of sitting on bids to fill out the same set? Without ticket farms, the market blue-side would still be a barren sandheap, and given basic economic principles, would still have hyper-inflation.Yeah, that'd be the markets even more Fu-bar than they already are, a bunch of level 50s not knowing how to play, and people put off from even touching the game because 'all people do there is farm'.
What they are fixing here is exploits. Farming, as a whole is kind of hard to stamp out, and I would say its not something that should really be wiped out. Some people do validly enjoy it, and I, and the Devs too it seems, dont mind that so much. Its when something is exploitable, such as 1-50 in a few hours, that they have to take action, and have been doing so.
The sooner that people understand that, the better.
Still, this thread doesnt dissapoint, it seems.
As for AE PLs... The devs have been making the gave steadily more PL friendly for a long time now. This won't stop anything. -

I figured it out! The pre-download is CONCLUSIVE proof that i17 will be....
Released, at some point. Yes folks, 100% of issues that have had pre-downloads have later been released. -
The problem isn't maps, it's builds and the basis of the in-game economy.
First off, the "right" build can farm anything. It was the average player that needed the help.
Second, the game is currently set up to reward farming AE maps and punish trying to get sets via merits. You could spend 18 hours on whatever you want working through all four shard TFs to get ONE numina recovery/regeneration, or you could farm for thirty minutes on a scrapper with... shall we say a positive charge and an extra piece of equipment to "shield" them and earn enough through sales of ticket rolls to buy one, or maybe two.
People farm because that's the way the game is set up. Applying band-aids doesn't affect the root of the problem. -
Quote:I'm stealing your thing. If you have one, and only one, wish for tankers... something to enhance your tanker gaming experience... what it would be?
For me... I want power customization to reach Granite Form. To the full spectrum of the other powers (Lava, Crystals). I am very visual-based... so that would be a major thing for me...
And you? What is your wish, Tankers? -
Quote:(Pretend I'm saying this head back with my eyes closed, waving my finger)It's not like the XP a tank gets is less than the XP for another AT.
Um, actually a good tank protects their team from debt by taking it themselves. It's the tanks life to protect their teammates from all bad things. We take the aggro for them, we deny all buffs and heals, we absorb all things nasty. We censor their art and literature so they don't get offended, and try to explain their math homework for them. We are the guardians of society, pillars against the onslaught of depravity and madness of the world. I mean if you're not really for that kind of responsibility... Okay enough of that
Really, everyone at low levels has end issues, not just you. Just play with teams, rest when you need to, and have fun. Slot some end redux! If I got a spines/dark through the low levels before AE was born, you can handle it with an end drain. -
And I didn't say it had to be tuesday, or that it couldn't be
Either way, Tuesday is the most Kafkaesque day, so patches are most likely to be a part of the madness.
Madness! -
Yeah but McDonalds doesn't have ToS and a EULA saying they're not liable for anything
-
Well saying it's just as likely to be a [not tuesday] doesn't supplant tuesday being the most common patch day. Tuesday is a popular patch day for a lot of software.
