Grounds... of.... Battle.

You may be familiar with another... computer thing... which may or *may not* be another game which came out around the same time as CoH... It's very cartoony?

Anyway they have a system of PvP which is sort of a cross between zones and arena, but it automatically scheduled by the game, and works cross-server. It's nice for the casual player, because there are goals beyond just a kill-count, and since it just starts automatically when there are enough players, no one has to organize it. There are certainly players who maximize their effectiveness by having the best gear available, but it's not a pre-requisite to participate and have fun. Then once you do it enough, you get access to some special gear which although not the best possible, gives you an ample reward for participation.

I'd love to see something like this.

They need to fix pvp first lol

I do agree though but I prefer RF onlines version. You had a war in a certain area 3x a day, you werent forced to participate but the idea was kind of like a capture the flag thing, you had to destroy the enemies area whilst protecting your own and the first one to return enemies flag to base wins.
In RF when they won they were granted access to an area in the centre which was a mine with better resources, it was protected by a guardian so if any opposing factions tried to enter they were one hit killed lol.
If CoX had something like this it could grant a global buff to one side of the game for the next few hours until the next one runs.
Something along the lines of 'Victory of Justice' for heroes and 'Dark Domination' for villians.
Of course the buffs would be some use but not so powerful as to make a huge upset with the game. The buffs also get cancelled for the next war and the losing side of the previous war gets a small boost in damage for the next one or something.

/this. A lot of work needs to be done on PVP right offhand before getting new "stuff" in. (Not just fixing mechanics, but seeing what they have planned for base raids, for instance - they've hinted at "something" but not near term.)

I wouldn't object to it, mind you. I just wouldn't expect to see anything for some time. We've got such a small PVP population (even counting the "casual" folks who'll go in and screw around, but not create builds, etc. for it - like me) it's hard to really push for new stuff or changes.
