  1. They'd have to be very weak or very end intensive, but I don't see that as being a huge problem for someone who, say, wants their scrapper to have a pistol for thematic reasons.

The only place this might bump into trouble is for people who already have weapon sets--as far as I know, you can only have one custom weapon, so they'd all have to be a "standard" weapon.

I could totally see a set like:

Snap Shot: Ranged Damage, Minor. Long-ish recharge, single target. (pulls out the standard desert eagle model)

Burst: Ranged DoT, moderate damage. Long-ish recharge and high end cost. Single target. (Uses the standard M16 model)

Micromissile Launcher: Enemy Targeted AoE, Minor damage. Fast recharge, but very high endurance cost (12-ish end per missile).

Flashbang Grenade: PPD Flashbang, hand-thrown. Very high endurance cost.
  2. Haaaate SS for brutes, I just don't see the appeal in flooring your own damage every few minutes. Stone Melee's where it's at.

That said, a Fire/Fire scrapper is definitely a contender. Powerful self heal, and if you can get your hands on a knockback protection IO (to slip into either one of your shields, or into combat jumping) then you're golden.
  3. Hm, possibly replace Spectral Terror with:

    Nightmare
Targeted AoE Sleep (Mag 3, semi-low duration), 66% chance for Mag 3 Fear, 33% chance for (an appropriate percentage) tohit debuff?
  4. I just played through this arc, and it was amazing. I was a bit worried as a level 17 fire/fire scrapper, but it was quite possible (although might not be great for tickets due to the ally on the middle two missions).

This is chock full of references (some of which surprised me); and most of the custom mobs are amazing (or at least giggle-worthy (I really like the minion-level mobs in the third mission; they're well designed and made me laugh hard enough that they almost killed me while I was trying to get screenies. :3 ))

5/5, and the humor's perfect. Also, the "guardians" in the last mission were amazing (and not references I was expecting).

My only beef? No Souvenir... I was hoping for a little piece of this arc to take home as a reminder. ^_^
  5. If you get the chance, could you give one of mine a shot? I did your disco arc. ^_^

Arc Name: The Invasion of the Space Ape Armada
    Arc ID: 81043
    Morality: Heroic
    Factions: Custom (x2! Well, x1.5 >_&gt
Difficulty Level: Moderate to Hard. Mission 2 has an EB who may or may not have spawned next to an optional boss.
Synopsis: When the vicious Admiral Silverback of the Space Ape Armada leads his fleet on a mission to conquer the Earth, it's up to you to lead the counter-attack against these savage invaders and save the Earth from conquest by monkeys!

Because that wouldn't quickly become a contender for most annoying power in the game? They changed that power for a reason. I don't know anyone who ever even had it before they did.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I did, and it was terrible.

But yes, I agree with everyone else. Just saying you "want" something without a concrete idea of what powerset would grant it is very vague.

Come up with a theme (special effect) and a powerset idea (complete with all 9 powers) that would make this idea plausible; and the devs will consider it the same way they do any other powerset request.

    Weenie Weenie

I'm still 90% certain that "Delicious Dogs" is a reference to Delicious Weenies (a hotdog stand from the cartoon "Invader Zim"; which aired on Nickelodeon (many of the tertiary / unimportant characters were named "Nick" too >_> ).

  10. influence isn't money. You get a bonus for saving civilians because they then go tell all their friends / blog about you / etc.
  11. Possible tier 1 replacement if Keen Sight and Clear Sight are combined:

    Oversight
Low-level party defense buff (maneuvers equivalent, possibly; or a half-cost maneuvers for half the end or something like that. A cheap toggle of some kind, perhaps?)

I know the others are hit-or-miss, the intention was more to get people thinking about odd combos that'd make decent potential pool powers.

So, anyone else have any new power pool ideas to throw into the ring?

  13. So, we need some more power pools. Well, not “need”, but a bit more variety would be nifty, and there’re very few actual ideas. So, the trick is, what superhero tropes are missing from the game that would be doable without an excessive amount of resources?

None of these ideas is especially well polished, however, they were some quick ideas to expand the power pools a bit and add a little variety.

    Super Vision
    Clear Sight
    Passive, low-level To-Hit Debuff Resistance

    Keen Sight
Click power, +Perception (about the same as a small yellow, enough to defeat night widow smoke grenades). 60 second duration, 300 or so second recharge

    X-Ray Vision
Toggle power, PBAoE -defense aura. 10ft radius, no agro, 0.56 end per second. -7.5% ish defense debuff

    Spot Weakness
Click power, long recharge. Surveilance-esque enemy ‘combat attributes’ readout. Perhaps with a minor -resistance or –defense attribute

    Grenadier
    Flashbang Grenade
Targeted AOE, 5ft radius mag 2 disorient, long recharge

    Tear Gas Grenade
Targeted AOE,10ft radius “pet” that can trigger the choking animation, chance for mag-2 sleep

    Web Grenade
Web grenade, but with approximately 3-5 times the recharge and/or a greatly increased endurance cost

    Concussion Grenade
Targeted AOE, 5ft radius, Low damage (energy/smashing), long recharge. Radial knockdown.

    Karate
(this is a punch tree, and a melee damage power pool. Gasp, I know. This’d be harder to implement, but we really don’t have any damage-themed power pools. It’d, of course, be lower damage or higher end-cost then an attack from an actual powerset, but a reasonable way for say, a ninja mastermind to get some ninja-esque martial arts. Or for a martial arts scrapper to get some punches. Thematic, but not intended to be especially game-breakingly powerful. Anyway, on to the pool!)
    Palm Strike
single target damage—a palm strike to the forehead. Low damage + 50% chance for mag 3 disorient

    Low Blow
Single target, low damage, mag 2 sleep for 6 seconds

    Martial Block
Clicky, self +def (ranged, melee). Essentially like build-up, but for defense. Very long recharge.

    Uppercut
Single target, Moderate damage, foe knockup

    Investigation
    Cluefinder
Passive, auto, increased inspiration drop rate

    Salvager
Passive, auto, increased chance for rare salvage drops

    Looter
Passive, auto, 5-10% increased influence/infamy for defeating enemy mobs

    Master Detective
Passive, auto, 5% increased drop rate for all drop types (Vanguard merits, enhancements, salvage, recipes, inspirations, MA tickets, etc)

Now if only they'd look over the things that resist (or have defense against) psi to make the late game more enjoyable.

Honestly, if they just made Malta Turrets and bank doors less psi resistant, I'd be thrilled. There's nothing quite so fun as being beaten by a pet-class mob because it has 90% resistance to your only real damage type; or spending four minutes plinking a bank vault to death.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Werd to that. :/

Though, from most reports on the matter, Toxic isn't in any better of a situation for similar reasons. Kind of weird, isn't it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

As a bane spider player, the only thing I've noticed that really resists toxic damage are pop-up turrets (you know, the cute little ones that show up on the Longbow ships). Fortunately, they're weak to smashing so the set provides its own mitigation to toxic ray doing a total of 12 damage against one of them. ^_^

Psi suffers because it lacks any sort of mixed damage attack to bypass or mitigate some of the things that heavily resist it; which means you either have to hold some things to death or (if you have a mind primary, which ALSO does pure psi damage) Levitate things to death.

Honestly, I'd be satisfied if bank vaults weren't 70-90% psi resistant. I can blow up cars with my mind, but a door resists me more then a Fake Nemesis does? o.O

I can understand why high resistances exist, and thematically the two most egregious ones (malta turrets and bank vaults) make sense... but from a fun standpoint, they're irritating. After 50 levels of bank vaults (and ten of malta turrets), I can honestly say my mind/psi dom is the second-least fun character I've ever had. Pointless waiting to kill things that don't even give experience is not enjoyable.
  15. Now if only they'd look over the things that resist (or have defense against) psi to make the late game more enjoyable.

  16. This has been asked before, quite recently too.

IIRC, the reason is because powers are baked into character height on creation; so if that height was then changed, rather then animating at the new height; all powers would remain based on the old height.

So, in essence, if you designed a minimum-height fire blast / energy melee blaster, then changed him to maximum height, his fire blasts would all launch from slightly above knee level; and the power effects of energy melee would hover about waist height (and if you've never seen the animation for Bonesmasher, well, I think you can imagine where the power effect for that would originate >_> )

    On the Tremor Argument:

Have it, use it, love it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /sign!

Tremor is the only total-focus animation power I don't hate. The AoE and damage more then make up for the animation time. If it were a second or so faster animating, it'd be vastly superior to footstomp due to its (far) quicker recharge.
  18. I've been around since three days before launch, and honestly... yeah. The City's in pretty good shape. I've seen tons of improvements over the years, and honestly ED was an improvement. I still have an old character with pre-ED slotting and, well--it was pretty boring. One accuracy, five damage... that was such a naive time.

Which isn't to say there haven't been any setbacks; but compared to launch? Compared to four years ago? Three years ago? Two years ago? Things have improved greatly in Paragon City. To claim otherwise would really be to feign ignorance of the things that have improved.

Really, the only thing I really miss from launch are 5thie street mob spawns and the King's Row pedestrian bug.

    So frustrating

    [ QUOTE ]
I must be really gimped or something then because even with

    domination up
    demonic and charged armor running
    fiery embrace popped
    three small purples
    two small oranges
    a medium yellow
    a medium red
and a confused Immunes Surgeon healing me

I can't get Polyphemus down below half his hp before he kills me. And it's the same story with all the other Elite (knew that, was just tired last night) Bosses I've run across in Cimeroa. Are they all super resistant to mind control and fire damage or something?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What powersets? I'm assuming mind/something.

Joust more--if you stand there and take it in the face while you try to build up enough magnitudes to take the guy, you're going to lose. Instead, bounce around like a crazy monkey, hop back, hop forward, and keep yourself out of reach while you stack holds / sleeps / confuses until something takes.

If worse comes to worse, SLEEP the guy. Most AV/EBs don't resist sleep at all and so sleeping them is a good way to gain a second or two of breathing space.

(Cimeroran mobs are actually psychic vulnerable--they're generally equivalent of invuln tankers--the only soft spot in their protection is psionics)

    The Coming Storm

Ever notice how all the alternate-universe versions of Statesman are evil?

I kinda wonder if Paragon Earth might be an aberration. After all--if the criminal Marcus Cole is supposed to stay Evil, a dimension where he's 'good' would be the "evil parallel universe" for most. Especially since Paragon Earth set up massive walls to "protect" its citizens, and in Praetoria that wasn't necessary...
  21. PoptartsNinja

    Dead emotes

Probably not--which means either the "laying on the ground dead" non-animation has a higher priority then any other animation; or there's likely an if statement somewhere that says "if health = 0, do not animate".

If the first is the case, there's no way around it. If it's the second, all that it'd take is a slight reworking "if health =/= 0, do not animate".

... assuming it's that basic; which it probably isn't.
  22. PoptartsNinja

    Gravity Question

Elec's -recovery and end draining isn't anywhere near enough to scratch an AV's endurance (since they resist endurance drain and recovery halt). Against an Elite Boss, though, the end drain is great.

... But yeah, it's still much better then energy for dominators, in terms of damage potential. But then, energy blast in general could probably use a bit of help.
  23. Honestly, I'd be ok with PSW getting a nerf if they re-balanced the things that resist psi to not be completely ridiculous. Few things resist psi, which is why it's always had lower damage--so the things that /do/ resist psi take an inordinate amount of time and effort to kill; and most of the common 40+ mob groups have at least one mob that highly resists (or has a high defense against) psi.

Most carnies have psi defense--I don't have hard numbers, but it feels like at least 33% defense

CoT Succubi have both a staggering amount of psi defense (I average about a 50% chance to hit against them) and psi resistance

Night Widows (and fortunatas, and all of Ghost Widow's line) have both psi defense and resistance. Their resistance seems higher then the defense, usually.

Devouring Earth Devoured's greatly resist psi damage. Upwards of 60% resistance, if I remember right.

Malta has both high-hitpoint robots which resist psi heavily (at least 50%, levitate consistently does more damage against titans then any Psi power). Additionally, Malta has turrets with 90% psi resistance. 90%. Let me tell you, it's awesome watching an attack with the potential to do 142 damage do... 14 damage against a pet. Turrets are also immune to control powers, for a double helping of "I'd better wait for Mass Hypnosis to recharge before I do anything"

And Bank Vaults have... what, 80-90% psi resistance too? I'm almost tempted to see whether I can kill a vault door faster with /brawl/ then I can with psi attacks. I'm sure the psi attacks will come out ahead--but hey, I have more of them then I have brawl.

Honestly, I do think these resistances need to be looked at a bit. Some of them (Carnies, Night Widows, Malta Titans) are probably ok where they are; but 90% resistances are no fun, especially solo, and when coupled with mobs with heavy status protection (Turrets, Greater Devoured, Night Widows again) those high defenses become almost crippling.

I generally don't play my Mind/Psi dominator, and not because my Dom can't control or isn't effective. I don't play because whenever I do bump into one of these heavy resistors it takes so long to kill it that I generally give up after four to five minutes of trying to kill a single boss/lieutennant/pet and go play something else.

Psi is good, however, a quick look at the things that heavily resist psi would probably be a good idea.
