Return to the future.
First off, this is probably impossible. Also, the level cap was 40 in Issue 1, there was no PvP, no villains, no Inventions, no badges, no Market, no AE, no Kheldians, several of the zones didn't exist...
Yeah, this is probably one of the worst "repeal ED" posts I've seen. ED isn't going away. A rollback to Issue 1 would probably break the game in a variety of interesting and catastrophic ways. This is not a good idea. Probably not even a possible idea.

So, you think the game nowadays is in good shape?
Sorry, this aint my opinion, but, its just me.
I've been around since three days before launch, and honestly... yeah. The City's in pretty good shape. I've seen tons of improvements over the years, and honestly ED was an improvement. I still have an old character with pre-ED slotting and, well--it was pretty boring. One accuracy, five damage... that was such a naive time.
Which isn't to say there haven't been any setbacks; but compared to launch? Compared to four years ago? Three years ago? Two years ago? Things have improved greatly in Paragon City. To claim otherwise would really be to feign ignorance of the things that have improved.
Really, the only thing I really miss from launch are 5thie street mob spawns and the King's Row pedestrian bug.

Seems like your opinions is precisely what it is. Let's look at the things you listed though - ED, the market, punishment for exploitation of the MA, badge removals
ED can't coexist with Inventions - if we had both we'd be stupidly overpowered. Right now the power that the high-end Inventions such as Purple Sets offer is offset by their rarity and thus their cost on the market. So the only way you could feasibly repeal ED would be to undo Inventions. And yes, I like Inventions better. Instead of 1 Acc/5 Damage I now have a number of viable choices that offer me different things. Making builds is more interesting post-Inventions than it was pre-ED.
The market.. I'm not sure why this is even a 'problem'.
Punishment for exploiters... again, not sure why punishment for cheating is a problem. Some people got hit unfairly and those punishments should be reversed and most likely will be. While a public apology wouldn't be out of line, neither do I think one is absolutely necessary so long as the innocent people get back everything in good order. As for there being punishment at all, I have trouble believing that anyone other than those who were cheating are against punishing cheating.
Badge removal - not a huge fan of this one, though after they posted the reasoning I can understand it. Frankly, the high count badges probably should have been left out of I-14 entirely rather than being removed later, but hindsight is always 20/20. In the end, if it results in fewer very high-count badges, I'm optimistic about this change.
Overall, yes, I think the game is in good shape.
Rolling the game all the way back to Issue 1 would somehow magically make the game better? Don't think so. The game is much better, more fun and more complex now than it was at release. Which pretty much goes for any MMO anywhere. With the possible exception of SWG.

I think it's in far better shape, yes. And I'm going to assume by "Issue 1" you actually mean release, technically "Issue 0."
Let's see, going back to Issue 0 would, for me:
- Delete probably half my characters, between villains, Kheldians, and those on extra slots.
- Ruin multiple others whose powersets didn't exist. (Sonic, TA, Archery, Mental manipulation, Plant controllers, /thermal, Cold/Ice Defenders...)
- Ruin anything that has IOs in it. Not just sets.
- Remove 50s.
- Remove multiple zones. The Hollows, Eden, the Shadow Shard, Striga, Croatoa, the RWZ reverting to the RCS, and more.
- Remove any indication you're on a story arc.
- Force you to continually run around tram stations, as the trains would only go one zone to another - no menu to pick from.
- Remove my SG bases, and everything stored inside of them. (Bases did not exist until COV.)
- Remove my global friends list. (I3 or I4.)
- Gut probably 80% of the *remaining* characters costumes.
- Remove auto-exemplaring from task forces. Hope your exemplar doesn't drop, since you'll be auto-kicked!
- Break multiple story arcs, where you'd get an error instead of a waypoint.
- Remove the fifth costume slot. (Edit - going to issue "0" means removing all but one slot.)
- Remove capes and auras. (Issue 2)
- Remove the respec trial
- Only allow you to trade 9,999 inf (Issue 2 increased to 99,999.)
- No TP confirmation or rez confirmation.
And those are just for starters.
"No" doesn't begin to sum it up. "Bad idea" doesn't begin to describe it.

I was not there yet, and i agree with the ED. but i will stand on my ground, as my community friends,
We all believe that MA is killin the game, and or was too early implemented.
therefore, i envy the knew player that dont use MA, and i wish they where servers with different versions, as in FPS. So one can play their own style.
That would be more efficient than having many servers with the same game.
I wish this would exist, so you'd get my idea.
^^ What Justaris said.
The game is in fine shape. Just because you can no longer herd the entire map and blow everything up with your fire tank doesn't mean the game's bad these days.
Tell me, OP, do you play in Peregrine Island?
Or do you have a villain?
Do you do any Orobouros missions?
Do you collect badges?
How about using monsterous legs?
Do you like to play PVP? or visit Pocket D?
.... Guess what: Issue one didn't have those things. It didn't even have capes.
So: no. No, it's just your opinion and the game IS actually a much better place than it was before. Yes there have been some stumbling blocks, but never - NEVER - has the game been "worse" than it was 5 years ago. EVER.

No. No it would not be "more efficient". Do you realize how many different teams of developers would have to be there to keep one server different from the other, AND offer them upgrades at the same pace? This isn't an FPS. If you want that feature: play an fps.
I like this game the way it is. MA, Market, everything. If YOU don't like the ma? don't play them. Pretty simple. If "all your friends" don't like it either? Well hey ho! There you go, a whole group you can team with without going to the MA! woot!

I don't think you represent "gamers".
I think you represent "just you". So please, enough with the presumptions. The game's INCREASED in fun and INCREASED in value to the company over the 5 years it's been out. Removing anything - as you can see by the furor that taking away the badges caused - is a BAD thing.
So you're saying, that "way back when" it was *everything that this game needed to be played by everyone playing it*?
Because - I'm a gamer. And I like it just the way it is.

Yeah, you're hopeless. Not even bothering.
Nine full ATs and multiple powersets "dont' appeal to gamers."
Upper level content and the zones to host them "don't appeal to gamers."
IOs "don't appeal to gamers."
Having missions actually be playable "doesn't appeal to gamers."
Right. As I said, you haven't thought this through at all.
You want a suggestion? Do some research on what would actually be affected before you make a suggestion. Like going to the wiki (link in my sig,) and typing in "Issues" to see what was added when and JUST how much you'd really lose.
If there was ever a post to highlight the value of /jranger I think this might be it.

Still, i like the 'nostalgia' Server idea. Why would a game would have the same bandwith for less players, if they could keep the long gone (o short gone) dudes by letting em having the game they like?
i dont get the marketing idea behind this.
Or maybe they didnt think about it.

If you express it in the "suggestions" forum - which you did - the idea will get picked apart by people with a clue about how the game works.
Think harder about the suggestions you might make, but realize that no one will just come in to praise your ideas "because they're yours" - it's open season here. That's why this section is in the "for fun" area.
We know plenty more gamers that DO like the entirety of the game as-is.
I know there are a couple people who have suggested "we should go retro and have a launch server because I like 6 slotting things and herding whole zones!!!!!!one21!" But those are suggestions that *also got torn apart* because they are *not great suggestions, and not thought out properly*.

It'd be nice if you thought about the idea. As for having different versions of the game on different servers, that's not more efficient. That's less efficient. Many people like to complain about bugs in just one live version of the game. Having multiple versions of the game means having to maintain and troubleshoot several completely different iterations of the game at once. It's a nightmare from a CS perspective.
And what about cross-server setups like the Market or global channels? And where do these extra servers come from? Why should the Devs expend extra money to (supposedly) keep players who left over changes to the game. I doubt putting up a non-ED server where people could go back to the bad old days of unkillable Fire Tanks would really retain more players. A few might come back, quickly get bored and leave again.
And that's assuming your 'nostalgia' server would be a new one. If you made one of the existing servers into this nonsense, you'd lose players. A lot of players.

Well to the OP. Let say you had it your way and we all reverted back to issue 0. Do you know how many characters I would have left on my main server? 0. Yes you see it correctly there would be no more characters I could play.
Majority of my characters are villains, so Issue 6 has not come yet so they are gone, my few heroes, the powersets they have were not around during Issue 0.
Also why I joined this game was primarily to be a villain. I could go to any other game out there and be the good guy and play whatever roll is needed at some point. That is boring to me, gimmie my dark, gloomy side, let me the baddie heroes have to face off.
Ya sorry but simply no.

I have to say the City_Life starts the best threads ever
Since we had ED, aka, you cant play like you used to, then the market, then post abuse punishments, then post badges removal, i suggest the next issue should be issue 1.
Lots of new players dont know, me included, what it was like. but issue 4, when i got on, was fun.
So, this is why i suggest we go back in time.
Issue 1, Its prolly saved somewhere. put it back on, call it 'Nostalgia'
and let the players appreciate.
