So other then the Plant/Thorn Dominator which is one of my Favorite Power sets, I really would like to do a Gravity/Something Dom, From checking them out Gravity/Ice seems like it would be fun but I really don't see alot of posts with gravity, so I was hoping to get some input from any other Gravity/X Doms out there and see what you guys think, Any information is greatly appreciated thanks!

You don't see a lot of posts on gravity because the world is divided into these three camps: The people who levelled a gravity character and now assiduously demand that they are fine and fun and balanced because otherwise they'd feel like idiots for wasting their time, the people who can see how gravity has failings and know that if they actually say as much the first mob will bawl at them and call them 'pl'd crybabies' while they're trying to discuss game balance issues, and the other 99.9999% of the planet.

Gravity has some problems. You can ignore them. Gravity has some idiot proponents. I'd advocate ignoring them too.

Elec so far is the only thing that I have pair with Grav and it does great, I haven't had any problems with it solo or teaming.

I happen to be one of the strange ones I suppose: I like Gravity. It's my favorite control set. But yeah, as Talen points out it does have its issues.

Grav's a late-bloomer so ideally you want to pair it with an early-blooming secondary. /Electric certainly fits the bill. /Psi does not, though that may change with the upcoming tweaks Castle's got in mind. (For the record, my Gravity Dom is Grav/Psi.)

Something with some decent AoE would probably help as well. Gravity's got some semi-decent ST in it, plus when you plop down a spawn with Wormhole it's nice to be able to take care of them all then and there.

/Ice could probably also work as well for Power Boost to beef up Grav's lowish AoE control ability.

Gravity/Fire

Fire Assault is the only set that can really truly be played at range, and Gravity is best at range. Not to mention the fact that Fire's damage will help Gravity out by killing things before you have to control them. Gravity is a fun set and Fire Assault is just as fun.

Nothing now. Wait for the dom changes, I'm sure gravity and energy will get big changes, so I'm going to make on possibly on test or once it launches.

OP:
I also started a Grav/Elec recently and so far the early levels have been fun, she's a little spit-fire called E-POW (because G-POW was taken) I love elec on my blaster, and I love the playstyle of doms so it just seemed natural...I chose GRAV as a primary because it was something I hadn't tried yet. I am not dissapointed or really impressed...yet (only lvl12) The other posters have already answered your question I just wanted to chime in. Happy Hunting!

Energy has better side effects than electric IMO, not to mention powerboosted vengeance!

I would be very very curious as to how Energy would be made better than Electric.

Turning Bone Smasher into Havoc Punch would be a good start.

I have no major quarrels with Energy for Doms. My SP3 Mind/Energy does quite well.

However if they decided to give energy a bit more damage I would not be adverse.

-end is a pretty crappy side effect. I'd be satisfied if they added powerbuild up w/ a 120s recharge and 15s duration.

Ah, I get it now... sp3 orbital hybridisation in chemistry because your character is a chemist that now directs energy from chemical reactions towards enemies.

I started a grav dom yesterday because I grouped with a grav/elec and the Propel animations were cracking me up. I had to have one.

I chose elec as a secondary without doing the research simply because he was elec. I'm considering re-rolling into energy instead. That power boost spell sound awesome, the set itself is rumored to be getting buffed (?? I haven't seen anything definite, but I haven't been looking either), and apparently it's got one of the strongest ST dom attacks in the game. In addition, since the first spell, the spammable one, does knockback, you can slot that Chance for +recharge IO and spam the crap out of it for easy permadom.

Of course this is all theorycraft. People on this forum seem to hate energy (even though there are two grav/energy guides extolling the virtues of this pair) and seem to love elec. *shrug*

Propel is both the good and the bad of the set. The animation itself is cool. There is nothing like watching the random stuff it comes up with. The animation TIME is the bad part. I suppose they could knock a second off of it, but if they had to lose the random object feature to do it, I'd rather they didn't.

Propel is what you either hate or love about Gravity, because you either hate or love it. Personally, I want to see it become a 5% cone. Essentially a straight line, but I'd just love to blast a car through a line of baddies.

You should play what you enjoy, but if you choose energy, be aware that you're choosing low damage. The upcoming changes will make it more playable, but it's not clear how it will rate compared to other secondaries.

Check the powers guide in my sig for my full opinion.

The reason most don't recommend energy is that the damage is considerably subpar compared to any other dom secondary. It has no AoE damage to speak of (lolwhirlinghands, as most say), and the single target damage is lackluster due to long animations on the two best attacks, power burst and total focus. It doesn't matter how much damage total focus does in a single shot (and it is a lot, I'll grant you) if the animation is so long that you could use two other attacks for more total damage in the time it takes to animate. The stun and knock effects in the powers do make for some nice additional mitigation (which I feel is underrated by many), and power boost *is* a useful power, but it's still not really enough to make up for the lackluster damage. As things currently stand, electricity does everything energy does, except better. It has build up, it has a worthwhile AoE (only 1, yes, but that's one more than energy has), and the melee attacks hit like a freakin truck. The only thing energy has that it doesn't is power boost, but if you want power boost, go /icy and, again, get better damage than energy.

Now, that is all presuming that the set is left unchanged. We don't know what castle might do to it, but it is known that he is at least thinking about making some changes, which may improve the set considerably. Depending on what he does, many of the usual objections to the set may no longer apply. For now, though, realize that you would be sacrificing some damage if you choose to go with energy. It's not unplayable, by any means, but it *is* worse off.
