  1. I have over 100 characters on Virtue already.

    ...what?

I think the main difference between Virtue and lower population servers is that on Virtue you can have an MS raid going, AND a hami raid, AND a Magisterium badge run, AND three other incarnate trials, AND multiple task forces, all going at the same time.

On a lot of other servers, if they're doing an MS raid, well then, that's the big thing that's happening. Maybe an itrial going at the same time and some TFs, but not nearly as many things to choose from at one and the same time. At least, that's my impression. Any server can do anything in the game, but only larger servers have lots of those things all happening at once.

But at one time I flipped between servers a lot. Now I don't, because there are too many things to do with my friends on Virtue. Friends tie you to a server more than anything, really.

I mostly join teams formed from private channels these days, so I don't PuG a lot. That can really alter how you see a server. But I did two Summer Event runs this morning through the LFG tool, both random PuGs, and got all 10 badges on each run. ^_^
  2. I've had to do this for all of my trollers and corruptors because I'm in love with Scorpion Shield. And I've had to do it with my heroic SoA of course (three of them so far).

It's annoying, but it's just something I'm resigned to. My latest beam/rad corruptor Jennie Nova is currently about to turn rogue after picking up patron pools and scorpion shield... she was hero a week or so ago. She's level 44, I usually wait to level 50 and do it but I decided to make the jump a little earlier this time.
  3. What it means to me:

    Um... win? Win what?
  4. Well, they got more money out of me because I had to buy the packs to get the costume set. That was what I wanted most. I spent... what was it, 800 or 1200 points for 24 packs? If I could have spent 500 points for just the costume set I would have, and they'd have made less money. That probably applies to a lot of people too.

    That's my opinion.
Strictly from a money standpoint, it was apparently one of the best business decisions they ever made. The Super Packs have funded a lot of other things in the game.

I didn't like the idea of the Super Packs either, but I bought the 24-pack sale deal for each of my accounts, and that netted me the full costume set on each plus a lot of ATOs that I could use or sell, a lot of merits that I could use, and a bunch of stuff that I was pretty "meh" about but I've found uses for later on. No wolf, nor did I expect one or really desire one And it was fun opening the packs. But I've also easily been able to resist buying any more of them.

But given the success they saw with selling them, I wouldn't expect them to change anything.
  6. I think if I didn't set goals for myself I'd have quit a long time ago. I like playing, but what really drives me forward is whatever my current goal is.

Oh... and congrats! I don't actually get Portal Jockey that often myself, it's not something you get easily by accident, you have to run through the arcs yourself (either solo or leading the team).
  7. On the other hand, there's a common bug that I've run across 3-5 times where a hostage can take damage, and if the enemy guarding them had AoE attacks, they can kill the hostage while you're trying to rescue them. Then you're stuck because you haven't rescued the hostage yet, or you were supposed to lead them somewhere but they're dead.

The last time I had this happen, I'd seen it several times before and knew exactly what was happening. I called a GM and tried to explain what had happened. "You haven't cleared the map," he said. "No, I don't have to clear the map, I just have to rescue this hostage but I can't because he was flagged to take damage and the enemy killed him by accident." I think I explained it in detail about 3-4 times, and the GM just didn't get it. I finally said, "The mission's broke. I can't advance," and he auto-completed it for me.

Sometimes trying to explain WHY it broke just confuses them.
  8. Several years ago I called a GM for a defeat all mission on an Oranbega map. I have most CoH maps pretty well memorized, and I'm very good at running through a mission and hitting tab to target anything in sight, and I'd been over the map several times and I was absolutely convinced that there were no more enemies to be found anywhere on the map.

Turned out at the entrance to one room, there was a double archway entrance with alcoves to the right and left between the two arches, and I'd run straight through several times without looking to either side.
  9. Is this going to be another Staff Fighting thing again?
  10. The real problem with snipe sets is that you're going to only need one set max per character, so I don't think the demand for them will ever be high, even if everyone played a ranged character with a snipe attack.

But yes, Sting of the Manticore is the only one I've ever used.
  11. I always use my influence to kit out my characters first. And I kit them out to the maximum ability possible. And I have a LOT of characters. Seriously, I have 96+ characters on Virtue where I normally play... two maxed accounts, and some non-paying accounts with a few extra characters. Mind you, only two characters from non-paying accounts do anything with IOs (I can spring for an IO license when I want to play them). But that still leaves LOTS of characters with LOTS of IOs.

I was doing a little count in my head today, and I know that I market with every one of my level 50s, and I have nearly 40 level 50s now I think, plus 10 or more non-fifty marketeers... so somewhere between 40-50 active marketing toons. Some of them I don't visit more than once a month, but I logged into a few of those last night and most of them had over a billion in profits. ^_^ But also, a lot of my extra influence has gone lately to my solo SGs... still burned, just not for the 88's.

Honestly, I don't understand why everyone doesn't keep the map open at all times. Unstick it from the Nav window, minimize it, stick it in a corner somewhere. It helps me a lot!

Megamisama is my street justice/shield brute... has been 50 for months now, fully IO'd, still one of my favorite 50's! It's a great combo.

...which should not prevent you from trying out Titan Weapons. TW is possibly one of the most awesome melee sets ever.

Task Force Note: You can adjust difficulty in between missions. Also, sometimes a mission is set artificially low because a lower-level person enters it first... I'm not sure exactly how it happens, but it only affects spawns within a certain distance of the entrance that spawn when the first person enters. Things should be set normally further into the mission.
  13. I kind of agree. I'm sure it will rise in price with I24, but not sure how much.

But I make so much money doing what I'm already doing that nothing else really matters to me. ^_^ Have at it and good luck!

  14. Didn't know we were on top again. ^_^

This is just after I dropped 200 million... decided to see where we were currently. For some reason I thought we were down at #3 or at least no higher than #2.

(Bothers to read rest of thread).

    Oh hay, IC. Plasma happened!

I think I would die of laughter if villains got a Strike Force equivalent to Doc Q.

Something with 22 missions, that keeps sending you to Monster Island and PvP zones and then back to Mercy, complete with multiple Rularuu (or similarly annoying enemy) ambushes and that ends on an Oranbega map with both CoT and Rularuu and you never see an AV....

I was reminded two days ago how awesomely bad Doc Q is. After 22 missions, after multiple hunts in the beginning, after jumping from Shadow Shard to Paragon at least twice, after multiple simultaneous 4-glowie clicks (and many other missions with glowies that serve no purpose), after many missions with aggressive rularuu ambushs that will kill unprepared squishies and even moderately well built melee types dead, you finally come to the end... and not only is there no AV, but it's Oranbega with tight corridors and a kill-all rularuu and cot together... just spectacularly, epically wrong, as if they said, "how can we make this EVEN WORSE". (Well, they could add Malta and Knives of Artemis too I suppose).

In fact, now that I think of it, the redside Doc Q really should have Malta and KoA in it. ^_^
  16. I put in bids on Blaster ATO's, and I'm sure I'll make money on them, but I've been making money on them before now too. I'm not really sure how much that will change.

Still, I've been doing nothing but flipping ATOs for months now, so that's exactly where my mind went when I saw the coming changes.
  17. Skyway is where I run SSA1, where I go to run Synapse (even if it mostly takes place elsewhere), where I sometimes join in to defeat Babbage, where I go to get to Bloody Bay (I never actually go there) or Faultline (unless I take a different route), where I go to get Skyway explore/history badges, and where I very occasionally go to stop a troll rave or beat up on supa trolls. Oh, and I have to go there to say hi to what's her name during a Moonfire TF.

That's about what I use it for. On very RARE occasions it's a shortcut to or from Perez Park or The Hollows, and CAN be a shortcut to or from Talos but I never even remember that part.

I'm sure all of that stuff could take place somewhere else... and there's nothing very interesting to see in Skyway... but then again, I don't know that all the work it would take to overhaul it or replace it would actually be worth it.

One might also ask: Is Indepencence Port superfluous? Is Brickstown? Is Eden? Is Crey's Folly? Is Boomtown? Is the Sewers or the Abandoned Sewers?

    ----

When I think of Skyway... I think of playing my ice/ice blaster Jalia Ice on a random pickup team in Skyway waaaay back in 2004. I was teamed for several missions, and then the leader quit and someone else was in charge, and they said something like, "At last! NOW I can run things MY way!" and promptly kicked 2 or 3 others including me. And I wasn't sure if they were just a jerk or moron or if I'd been that bad of a player -- it was my first blaster ever, I may not have known how to play it well. And I also remember street hunting in the area near the Talos zone entrance. I was around level 16 or 17 at the time, and I probably spent a lot of time street hunting there... maybe several nights in a row. Kind of boggles the mind when you consider it in light of how things currently work.

I eventually transferred Jalia Ice to Freedom and renamed her Mouse Police (I have a Mouse Police on nearly every server) and played her up to 42. Maybe make it to 50 some day.

As predicted... we ran a Doc Q tonight. just finished. It took us 2 hours 29 mins 55 seconds, with seven people on the team and four of them with Team Transport.

    It felt longer though. :/
  19. Years ago in another game I quit and gave my account over to a friend and told him to take everything he wanted. He took the cash and some equipment (I had a good supply of cash by that point) but was reluctant to take everything because I might come back. But I never did.

I quit this game for well over a year with no intention of returning... but I didn't have a lot of stuff to give away, and this was before the invention system. Still, I'm with Goat, I could give all of my stuff away and come back and earn it back, just takes a little time. ^_^
  20. Sadly, that much awesome would probably break the game.

...but I'm willing to risk it.

Instead, we ran a Citadel, then a Sara Moore, and then I went to bed but MG ran an ITF. But they had to assemble new teams each time. :/
  22. The Council need giant robots... that actually DO something.

See, the Council are universally considered one of the weakest, blandesst groups around. But they (and/or 5th Column) are always building giant robots that are never actually finished. If I were in charge, then a Hess Task Force would spawn a giant robot in Striga Isle... and an ITF would spawn a giant robot in the third mission... or maybe after the third mission in Cimemora itself. (Though that would probably lead to a glut of giant robots hanging out on the beach or something). And a redesigned Citadel Task Force could only benefit from a giant robot in Talos.

I mean, really, EVERY task force could benefit from some sort of giant robot, but I'd be satisfied with one or two from Citadel and Hess. ^_^

And yes, the Council could benefit from several other things. Mad Scientists with special guns of various sorts, or controller/mez type powers. Female Council. Power armor. Vicious dogs. ANYTHING.
  23. Just say Doc Q, then you don't have to attempt to spell it.

Also, beware of Doctor Salad. Such a terrifying name, Doctor Salad!
  24. We ran a Sara Moore TF in 1 hour 20 minutes last night. Lots of Team Transport and the like.

We were planning to do a Doc Q, but waited until long after 9 PM to start so I wasn't willing to do a Doc Q by that point.

  25. Turns out I hadn't added a a tail to a character in a long time. >.>
