  1. I honestly rather enjoy my Gravity controller, I just kind of wish that:
    a) Its animations weren't so slow
    b) I hadn't gone with Force Fields as the secondary.

So it would appear. There were some parts where I was getting some stuttering of my stream, so if they sort of just mentioned it instead of going on about it I could easily have missed it.

They also mentioned yesterday that they'd reworked some of the story arcs in Mercy. Part of the zone's story is going and reclaiming Fort Darwin from the Longbow.

They said the set was built around two powers, and even gave them names which I can't remember off hand.

One was an enemy debuff (slow and acc I think they mentioned) and when you cast any of your other debuffs on an enemy with that power on them they were more effective.

One was an ally buff that enhanced all the set's other powers on that ally.

Oh and also they mentioned that character slots (and I think transfers) would be purchaseable through the paragon rewards program (so no real money fee).

Wait ... when did they say that? They said you could get to the zone as a praetorian directly (so continuing on without traveling to primal earth), but I don't remember them ever mentioning an upper level range.

Well I don't know about unpopular exactly. Off hand it seems a little more video-game/manga ish to me than comic book exactly, but in any case it sounds like the mechanic will be a lot of fun. I have to say, the railroad crossing sign is fantastic.

Also I'm admittedly not as 'up' on comic books as I was ages back, but I really seem to recall more characters who fought with a staff than ones who fought with giant swords.

-Two handed melee weapons set is dubbed Titan Weapons
-Not just huge broad swords, but several kinds of large weapons
-Starts out slow and builds 'momentum' which uses faster and faster animations
Also, maybe I misheard but it sounded to me like Time Manipulation had an enemy debuff that enhanced all of its other debuffs on said enemy. Which sounds like a relatively interesting shtick if you ask me.

Titan Weapons also won't be in I21/Freedom, which is kind of sad as its gimmick sounds pretty interesting.

No, I'm fairly sure you're right. They're making the paragon reward credit retroactive (the stand-in/upgrade of the vet reward program). The paragon points start next month. It's only slightly confusing.

I'm rather hoping other power sets included in I21 (possibly only two-handed weapons) will be included for VIPs though myself and that they just haven't released the full features list.

I'd be very surprised if 400 points equates to almost 15 dollars. I wouldn't be surprised if it equaled out to be somewhere around 4 though. As long as we get everything we currently get for the $15 a month then I'll be happy. I'm also generally expecting that it's more or less how it's going to work to boot. They are promising more content for the same price though (signature story arcs monthly).

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it equated to being more expensive if you bought all the pieces a la carte. As long as the promised 'bundles' of fluff work out to about the historical norms of the booster packs I'll be happy even if it costs more to get everything individually than as a set.

On the other hand, we seem to get them more often than we did before and they generally come with emotes and powers so I'm mostly ok with that. And heck we still even manage to get the occasional free costume piece so whee?
  10. Wow. I was expecting a good couple of minutes of those 23 to be skit, but apparently nope.

No big deal, really, since EBs are meant for groups anyway - hence the warning at the beginning of virtually every mission that involves one).
Oh hey, forgot about this thread.

I should probably clarify what I meant by normal since I wasn't terribly clear at all. The somewhat slower, more pre-fight setup based gameplay encouraged by the /dev powerset doesn't appear to be the typical (or 'normal') play style for CoH. So while it functions well enough when solo where you can have an unusual playstyle and be perfectly fine its overall usefulness tends to drop significantly when in groups.

So yea, basically /dev isn't generally a useful powerset when teaming. Big shock.

I don't recall having a lot of trouble soloing ranged EBs on my energy/dev actually. It's been a bit since I did any significant amount of soloing on her though. I do recall getting mostly destroyed by the Vanguard EB in the incarnate unlock arc, though trapdoor was a pushover. My general mindset for EBs has always been that they were the solo version of an AV. I know it's the 'solo and small group' version more than just solo but it still annoys me on the occasion where I can't solo one.

If it were just time bomb that was the iffy power in the set I'd say leave everything as is. As it stands though the devices powerset in general just doesn't hold up in normal game play.

I'm all for different play styles with characters, but the one devices encourages just doesn't mesh well with a team environment.

Some people actually like his work. It's true. At one point before there was really an internet, when those who did have a modem used AoL, people raved on and on about Liefeld.

Then, of course, the internet came, and people started jumping on bandwagons, and then EVERYONE on the internet had to jump on the bandwagons.

Kinda like Star Wars Episode 1. People saw it, said it was AWESOME. Now, all you hear is OMG IT SUCKS! YOU RUINED MY CHILDHOOD! Which of course, isn't true. Special Edition did that for the Childhood Star Wars fans.
It's sadly true about Liefeld. I recall a lot of my friends liked his stuff back in the day. I can't honestly recall my opinion of him, but I'd like to think I thought his art was horrible. More than likely I was just neutral over it.

Now the Star Wars Ep 1. Some of us thought it was a travesty from the get-go(not just a bad Star Wars film, it's just a bad film). I actually don't recall a lot of people liking it truthfully. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those people saying it was awesome simply talked themselves into thinking it was a good film simply because it was Star Wars. I know I've talked myself into liking a couple movies simply because I've loved a director's prior work. Eventually I snap out of it and realize what I was doing and how horrible the movie was. Usually doesn't take too long. A couple weeks at the most generally speaking.

I actually kind of like it, nice and compact.
I'm seriously debating taking them on my /dev blaster who has the drone vet pet. Just for the sheer silly number of floating drones.
  15. I'm going to guess it's not a surprise to people that I'm excited to hear this news?
  16. Um. It's been over a decade since I really looked at the source-book, but Rift's Cosmo-Knight perhaps? Since you said any universe anyway.

If I recall correctly they have FTL space-flight, they regenerate, their armor regenerates, they have absurdly powerful energy blasts, they don't take any damage from a list of damage types unless it's magic in nature and the things not on that list they only take something like 1% of the damage from. Oh, and on top of that I seem to recall that they had a somewhat absurdly powerful personal force field.

They've always been my personal definition of 'overpowered class'. Oh, they did fucntion like paladins I think. So if you were bad you lost a lot of your power.
  17. If you've unlocked a slot it's unlocked across all of your builds.
If you've built a power it stays built regardless of which build you have active.

You can change your incarnate slotting mostly at will (as long as neither you nor a team member is in combat I believe) so you still have those build options available to you regardless though. You just don't HAVE to do it that way either. I personally have two alpha and two destiny slottings available on my blaster that I change out depending on the situation.
  18. Historically speaking, yes.

My understanding is that the number of extra slots you have available is somehow kept store-side. So if it can't talk to the store it can't know how many slots you have available. If you have characters in extra slots beyond the basic you're ok to play them, but you just can't create new ones.

It's annoying to be sure, but it does happen and you get you slots back when communication is restored.

Completely aside from the 'complainers', there are people who want soloable incarnate content. To be perfectly honest, I don't really know how anyone would think it would be a bad idea.

No, you're thinking of the people who actively dislike the trials. There's also folks who are fine with the trials but who think soloable incarnate content would be fun too. Just because someone doesn't actively lobby for something doesn't mean they don't want it all the same.
  21. So, it was kind of fun. When I was in KR the game was still playable, there wasn't all that much lag (only a second or two delay), and my ping was relatively low. Once I moved in to Atlas on the other hand the ping jumped sharply, the lag became terrible and I crashed twice.

    KR was a fun though.
  22. So I was in a green-sky storm when I lived down in Florida back somewhere around '90. Biggest storm I've been through in my life. Just a terrifying number of tornadoes and waterspouts throughout the Clearwater area that day.
  23. Just as an FYI, the link from the announcement to this thread is broken. Has an extra http:// I think it was.

My understanding is they're just unlockable by 50s and they're mailed to your global so you can use them on whomever has auras unlocked (which you can unlock for someone under 30 by similarly purchasing that with merits I understand).

    Something along those lines anyway.
