Quote:I'm not surprised at all. it's generally known on the interweb tubes that many of of the MMORPG.com forum community members are dicks of the highest caliber. They'd troll their own mothers if it suited them
Edit: What really gets me is how negative people are being on the forums about CoH. I don't think this game warrants that much bashing. Are they people paid shills for Cryptic? Hey, it's happened before. Maybe CoH killed their dogs? Posi and BaBs will have to apologize for that one. They aren't being payed to bash CoH... they're just continually miserable creatures with nothing better to do than troll on Internet forums. Frankly they make some of us look like saints.
Edit: After reading the comments though, didn't see too many negative comments, but I did only check the first four pages or so. -
Quote:I don't see that happening. However, NCSoft could take a page from Vidiotmaps and update their mapsWe could ask the devs nicely to incorporate the Vidiotmaps updates as the official maps?
But hey, if this isn't corrected when GR cosed beta starts, I'm sure someone could bring it up... -
I did Hardcase's arcs once... and only once. Damn bleeding heart. Not really a hard case either - so ironic.

What he said. Honestly, we're just going to have to wait until and after Hero Con, because Marketing loves to use face-to-face events to spill big news. I'm sure we'll have plenty of second-hand info during the con, and plenty of first-hand info soon thereafter.

Nah, was just curious more than anything. But thanks for the 411.

That's so odd... I was thinking of this very topic today and was wondering what had come of it.
I noticed his DeviantArt account is closed and that his website doesn't seem to have been updated since May. I wonder if he's still selling art professionally. Shame if he isn't.
In any case, glad to hear that this was finally resolved amicably. -
Quote:Grace shmace... it's all relative anyhow. Just like "terrible things"...but you're willing to make one of your heroes fall from grace in order to do redside content.
That's even worse than "I'm not a villain."
"I am not a villain, but I'm willing to make one of my heroes do really terrible things so that I can play on redside."
There is an old Vulcan proverb... only Nixon could go to China. Except in this case, it's Manticore and the Rogue Isles -
Quote:In my experience playing a MM from 1 to 50, I hardly ever stand around. I play Bots/ Traps mind you, and it may depend on the Pri/Sec combo that you choose. Are Masterminds really that hands-off in play? Even if not, my main concern about them is that much of the fighting is done through the pets. I love pets, but usually I like them to support me, rather than the other way around. For that reason, in WoW, I preferred a Warlock to a Hunter, and in Diablo my necromancer used a basic clay golem to tank, while he used each level-up to strengthen his own damage and control.
But from my experience, at the very least I'm throwing Web Grenades or using Vet Reward attacks to soften enemies.
However, I'm usually leading the charge. My MM has almost no attacks, but I run in with BG mode enabled and start planting Poison Traps and Caltrops. When the enemy starts attacking me my Bots in BG mode not only soak damage for me, they retaliate automatically. And when I'm not placing traps, I'm tossing Insps, placing Triage Beacons, tossing grenades, using Nanomachines, etc.
Some MMs prefer to lead from the rear, but if you want to lead from the front, there's certainly opportunity for that. The trickiest part of playing a MM, IMHO, are the keybinds, but Sandalphan's old keybind guide will help you more than I on that front, if you so choose to play a MM.
(More about MM keybinds in the MM guides here) -
The staircases take some practice, and require stacking with both the floor safes and the cubicle. However, I could see perhaps using the metal stairs in a tech setting... although you would need to use something else for the bends, unless you want a wood/metal mix.

PlayNC.com also accepts PayPal, which can debit directly from one's checking account.

Quote:I would have started saving up money last year if I had to fly to Hero Con this year. And I did... but I had to spend savings on my wife's teeth, plus I have college courses. Oh well, even if I wasn't going to be in closed beta, I'll see GR sooner or laterOk well, not all of us can fly across the country/world to go to herocon >.>
So, maybe they can twitter the update or something -
Quote:Funny is relevantNext time, don't rebrand unfunny (and potentially politically charged) pop-culture references with a thin veneer of game relevance, and then expect people to laugh instead of seriously debating the implications of such a policy.
But I guess if we can't find it humorous, we should brow-beat it into the ground! YAR!

Quote:Somebody already beat me to a line about Heroes not being the ones to think about Genocide. Heroes also are unlikely to think about breaking regulations and rules. If you're familiar with the story-line of CoH, Heroe's weren't always accepted with open-arms by the communities of the world. In many cases, beings with meta or super-powers are still viewed with suspicion, hatred, disgust, and other negative emotions.
While Supergroups, Anti-Heroes, and Aliens are more accepted in today's Paragon City... the rest of the world treats the quarantined zone with a bit of... distrust?
Statesman alone wasn't responsible for the fight against the Rikti. He worked with a wide range of other organizations and super-powered beings directly. As such, I'm not really sure he can be faulted with not wiping out the Rikti when he was probably physically capable of doing so. As was revealed in the external comments, Statesman's Freedom Phalanx aren't really the optimum group for taking the fight to the Rikti to begin with.
Was it a mistake for the Power's of Paragon City's Dimension to not wage war against the Rikti? Or against the 5th Column? Or against the Praetorians?
In some aspects... yes. In other aspects, a peace treaty with the majority of the Homeworld Rikti Society is within reach... as those who play through the RWZ arcs find out. Perhaps once the Rikti Lord of War is defeated once and for all, a genuine peace can be discussed, and we'll find out what super-powered threats the Rikti face in their world.Quote:Well, I for one am generally in favor of horrendously vile moral acts, but let's set that aside for the sake of co-operation for now.
While it's true that the Rikti traditionalists are horrified at the truth of the war, the vast majority of the Rikti populace still does not know the truth of Nemesis's culpability in the inter dimensional conflict. This information is being brutally supressed by the Rikti warlord Hro'Dtohz. Or however he spells it. And the military, the actual dangerous segment of Rikti culture, supports their general. We know the truth, but the Rikti do not, and as long as that ignorance persists, they remain a threat to you. I mean us. To us. To innocent people. Yes.
But here's another angle to look at it from. We're all used to Nemesis's shenanigans over here. The Rikti don't seem to have an extra dimensional counterpart to a schemer the likes of Nemesis. From their alien perspective, even if they knew the truth, there is the very real risk that they might quite logically conclude that even if most Primal Earthlings did want peace, the attack DID originate from one of our own. We haven't given Nemesis over to them for justice, nor are we ever likely to do so. Nemesis is a monster of our world that did great harm to them, and continues to wish them further harm. Even if they believed that we, as a world, tend to rebuke Nemesis and his followers, what is to stop another threat like him from rising to threaten their way of life yet again?
No, logically, even if as well informed as we are, I believe the Rikti would continue to present a very real threat to our world. And thus the best thing for all of us is to settle in for a long, grisly war with a nice high body count on both sides.
I love co-op.Quote:Did everyone miss the memo that the Rikti weren't at fault for the invasion, so some sort of retribution against the Rikti homeworld would actually be a horrendously vile moral act?
I still remember people disagreeing with me that Nemesis and everyone in his organisation seriously should have been seriously squashed out of the game due to the kind of reaction that his machinations would attract from all sides (he'd come back of course, but I don't think he could have operated as openly as he still does). So, yeah: the Rikti were the victims here.
Statesman's greatest mistake is letting the Rogue Isles continue to operate. -
The only way to know for sure is to adjust your rep and retry.

Alright, here's my WIP. But who am I kidding? The base is always a WIP.
Instead of creating a three-floored workshop, I opted for two floors instead.
Besides being easier to place storage items on each floor, it uses less desks and therefor less polygons. Lesser-used Holiday salvage is stored above, while frequently-used Invention salvage is kept below next to the Empowerment Stations and Invention Table. Access to the balcony is via a spiral staircase.
I do have to have a 2nd workshop though - not for lack of space but due to the limitation of storage items per room. So the 2nd room is accessed through a security gate that goes into the storage vault, which also has two floors (I created this room a year ago or so, but moved it recently).
As an aside, the SG base is thematically a re-purposed cathedral. Every cathedral has a pipe organ to the best of my knowledge, so I created one the best I could, above the base entrance. Just wish I could use some tech control pieces outside of a control room, but I work with what I got. -
I think your reference may have been too obtuse for this crowd S_H

Quote:The room had all floors and ceilings removed. I have a signature spiral staircase I like to use, but even adjusted evenly between floors, the storage bins were still clipping into the floors.Did you lower the level of the bottom floor to the lowest? Maybe that could stop your clipping. I am interested in seeing your L-shaped layout.
I got some work done on this Friday or Saturday. I'll try to post some pictures tonight or tomorrow, once I add some more room details. -
Regardless, I finally got the screenshots today to submit my arc.

Quote:Edit:You remember that thing we had about seven years ago called the Rikti War? And how we failed to achieve victory? How come we didn't cross 5th Dimension and push those algae-eaters back to the Great Wall of Kun'Ger Ke'ee? Then take that wall apart brick by brick and nuke them back into the stone age forever? Tell me why! How come? SAY IT! SAY IT!
All right, I'll say it - 'cause Statesman was too much of a p***y wimp to let Vanguard go in there and blow out those alien bastards!!!

93.94%... must have missed one. Not bad though.

Plunging V neckline and tight PVC bodysuit > sharp metal arm and corpse-like face.
Also, here's a better pic of Arakhn. Combat shots are rarely very clear -
Here is the SOP for which you're looking. Probably want to use the support network tool described therein to find the culprit.

Quote:Been saying this for a while now... it would also eliminate the need to have level caps per zone, meaning that everyone would have more zones from which to choose, regardless of level.Have the Trick Door Spawn use the 'Purple Damage Scaling Code' that Giant Monsters use, please.
All special outdoor spawns should use it. Giant Monsters use it, Rikti Invasion uses it, Zombapocalypse uses it, the new Deadly Apocalypse uses it... please make door spawns use it.
