And, yes, the Combo system in Street Justice is ten times better than the combo system in Dual Blades. For starters, it isn't annoying fiddly busywork that only comes into its own past level 32. You'll be popping off full combos at LEVEL 2!

    OOOOH....this makes me excited.

I may have to reroll Backup Dancer...which sucks sorts cuz I leveled her so hard on XP weekend with MA/Regen. But this sounds much more her style of fighting than MA...which I am loving though.

Curse you and your dreaded Math and temptation!

    I agree.

I think I had Dark Melee in mind when I was referring to how certain sets do not lend themselves to being "Assassin" style, based on the mechanics of what they achieve in their "Deadly Attack". Dark is one of the hardest to peg because of the very nature of it's power. It's melee, and it's negative energy, so the build up and bust of neg energy would be a fit. The giant skull is sort of ammusing on occasions.

I almost wish there was a 5% chance that Minions and LT's would instant "Die".

But Animations currently do not reflect the unique aspects of both the Assassins Strike, or in my perception how such a powerset would actually cause such a deadly strike.

Certain ones. Kitana, Dual Blades, Broadword do capture the imagination of being Poised for a death strike. However other such sets that are mainly bare handed or clawed lose ground on the coolness factor because they are poised to stike....something. I feel like Claws should aim for the throat like an animal does, Martial arts should have a raised hand strike reminding me of a serpent rearing it's head.
  6. You actually brought something up I had been thinking of for a long time Sam, and while I believe that mechanics of the animations and also the powers present pose part of the issue, but to answer your question.

I truly believe that an assassins strike is both a finishing move and an opener, which either finishes an opponent by bypassing strengths, armor, resistances because it is lethal beyond the point of a normal attack, which would bring both the element of surprise and an assault on the enemies vitals.

However in modern warfare I think of such strikes at range, but considdering this is designed for an AT which feels much like a DnD rogue, who attacks in melee from stealth or generally close range, I feel like the element of surprise and exposeing an enemy weakness from observation is lost because a good assassin picks a mark which is safe to kill because they have the cold calculated time to pull it off. Sadly, that will not be the case in CoX due to mobs size.

My issue with the current look is that the buildup to the assassins strike (The Squat of Doom) is not giving me the feeling of being an assassin, nor does it feel a good example of what either "surprise" or attacking "vitals" feels like to me, and I think it's because many of the sets are old, and lend themselves very poorly.

Snipes in the game feel like snipes, and the original animation makes it feel like a snipe, and it's epic as just that, and truly feels more acceptable as an assassins weapon than some of the stalker options. It's aimed, it's concentrated on, and because of the range element it allows for hit and run options, which makes it feel like an assassins strike.

I hope that sort of gives my feelings on it.
  7. Mine seemed sort of lack lustre, but I still did enjoy the Double XP weekend, although I found it hard to find teams on lowers because my lower levels were mainly redside.

    But

    Grave-Dust (Dark/Pain Corr) Level 30 to level 38
    Nyte-Terror (Illusion/TA Controller) Level 1 to level 21
Backup Dancer (Martial Arts/Regen Scrapper) Level 5 to level 28

I sort of neglected my level 45 Scrapper, and my Level 41 Blaster.

I did however opt to jump on my level 50 Emp Defender to help some of my SG mates and some folks on my friends list to 50

I have to agree with Sam. This thread died because it should have. The woman in the community did stick up for ourselves, and some liked what we said, and some didn't.

At the end, this died because it was an unneeded conversation in the first place.
  9. So funny that something Iconic as other superbeings wings are only a available through vet rewards.

Yeah, it's frill, and yes I do sub much.

Just, it seems like they should have been given from the start or as a recipe. Sure you get to be special because you have angel wings, but honestly, it's lost it's thrill.

The only issue I see with having them as a vet reward is that cool ideas that you have are impeded by time played as opposed to money you would spend in a shop for such frill.

It's an identifier, but one that locks character ideas and concepts...and is not changeable by spending money from your pocket, but dictated by time (Spent from your wallet) as opposed to want.
  10. My toons names are important to me, but I have already been told by two players that if I don't move to the VIP that they would take two of my names.

The only issue is that I don't like the idea of the VIP server.
  11. There are certain colours in the palette that will cause a better "glow effect" and usually it 's the 3 colors from the middle left of each color selection that will yeild the best results and generally if the metal is darker coloured.

    But it does work.

All Dom assault powers have been more a combo of Blaster/Blaster secondary. It's always been.

I find it funny when I read reviews where people say the Corr is the blaster version of the villain AT's when actully it's the Dom. Sure, both have blast sets but the Dom in general has better melee damage than their ranged damage.

They are the Blapper....only more efficiant at doing it.

Well thats not where my comments were going at all.

I believe that all AT's still shine in one way or another, but the debate on tank mages or mage tanks is a solid discussion.

I was simply meaning that when playing in a group of all incarnates I feel like I should play mine, because if everyone else gets shiny things, then I should play my shiny thing too?

Keeping up with the pack I guess.
  15. Also, ealier mobs are not supposed to be as challenging as other mobs later game.

Obviously your friend is not fighting Malta/Carnies/High level CoT/Knives of Artimis or Devouring Earth, which can all be annoying for certain AT's based on the power choses.

I don't think it's any different than other games out there where you fight things that don't even aggro until you make the first attack, nor do I think it's any different than the "Giant Rat, Kobold, Hob Goblin" kills in other games.

Low content is designed to allow you to learn the AT without the constant concern of always being defeated.
  16. Plant Doms/controllers

I believe most of their powers must be used on the ground.

The Imobs definately need to be used on the ground

You can always exemp down. That is always an option, and many of the arcs are pretty sweet at lower levels. I think the concern is that generally people do higher level content or even tips for merits (For IO Sets) and many of the fun TF's are actually higher level. It's the stuff you strived for from the beginning for the most part so you can participate in some of these TF's.

So, it becomes a matter of looking at your 50's (Most incarnate that I have seen as it's just pure beneficial to do so and not that hard to begin with) to bring them to the content that you like doing. In my experience people like to run higher TF's, and even an ITF people want to do it at 50, and it's hard to convince people that doing it at 36 is fun. It's because of Recipes and the chance to gain purples which fetch good money on the market...which then allows for IO's you would not normally gain otherwise
  18. Well I sort of get where the OP is going with his concern.

    Ill give some examples.

My Main (Mind/Psy/Fire = Perma Dom)

~Ranged Holds and Attacks that after the invention system made her damage recharge and survivability amazing
~Mass AOE Damage (Void Judgement) which debuffs hits like a dark Defender/Corr
~3 different interfaces which debuff like a sonic/dark/poison
    ~High Defense
    ~Barrior with a res component
    ~Pets for 5 minutes
    ~Never ending Blue Bar
~Strong Melee Capabilities because of Psi Assault
    ~Self Res
    ~Fireballs on fast recharge
    ~Instant Status Protection
~Clarion (Offers status protection to my team as a buff and also to myself)

    My Controller (Grav/FF/Psy)
    ~ Buffs
~ Holds, and decent ranged damage
    ~ AOE Judgement (Cryonic)
~ Debuffs to hit and - regen through Diamagnetic interface
~ Ranged Psy Damage and AOE through Psionic Tornado
    ~ Status Protection
~ AOE Heal (Rebirth) which heals more than my Empaths Aura
    ~ Never Ending Blue Bar
~ 3 pets one being lore based which drains endurance (Storm
    Elementals)

So yes, I do see where the OP is going with his concern about things. And when the definition of Tank-Mages is that "Ranged Glass Cannons eventually have more survivability than Melee" I think it has to be looked at both ways.

Yes, my two amped toons have more ability and survivability than some/most melee types depending on what they are doing, especially normal content, one also needs to look at the flip side.

We have now Mage-Tanks. The Melee set which has always had more survivability to begin with, and can potentially have all of the things I mentioned above, but with all the bells and whistles of the ranged or specialized AT's. How they differ is that the Tank/Scrapper/Stalker/Brute actually become more unbalanced because of the natural survivability that they always had, and IO's that enhance said survivability even more...plus Pets/Heals/Status Protections/Force Fields/Debuffs and large AOE potential.

I still stand by the fact that the later is more imbalanced than the former. The melee crowed gains more benefit from the incarnate system, IO's and epic pools as it further enhances their versatility causing balance issues.

While I cannot say that I feel useless, when I am playing with a 50's group on something not incarnated I feel as though I should switch to my 50 incarnates because Im not carrying my own weight.

It's just the way it goes now, and for better or worst it's not changing soon. Is it the right path for the game? I am not sure. Does it bother me...not sure. Does it trivialize once complex content? Yes! It does and it makes getting things that much easier.

On the flip side, with Freedom coming into play and high level content not being available to free players, the content will sort of revert to what it once was, and two things will happen.

    A) people will sub just to gain access to these powers and abilities.

    B) people will not play because of the imbalance of the AT's from the stand point of what th original AT's would offer a team to begin with.

I am curious about what will happen. But these are just my observations
  19. Mind/Psi or Fire/Fire Dominator!!!

Why? It makes everything die! It makes your Tank sad? It's cheapy IOed and procced for max doom and eaily perma dommed at even lower levels, and it's melee/range options are built in to allow for power pool choices which allow for more "hittage" (Not a word, don't use "Hittage")

You are a squishy glass cannon without your kill death ratio being close to each other.

So it's like a blaster, but the low fat version. All the taste with half the calories!

Yes. The actual descriptions says it does some damage, but frees an ally from Hold, Disorient, Imobalize, etc, while adding +res to those effects. These effects stack along with +damage, +Recharge rate increase and +perception.

What I am saying is the opposite.

The later part of the power...+res to status effects. +damage, +Recharge rate increase and +perception seem to stack breifly.

However since on of my mains is a faithful Empath who uses clear mind often, I have noticed the primary effect, Which is to "Free the ally" does not seem to work like clear mind.

We were fighting Family Consierge with singularities. Im firing this off a lot. When it works it turns the hold and the imob into a slow (Which is normal) as with web grenades etc.

What I am saying is that Im not able to bust the actual hold. My friends are still held even if I stack EM, and use it when they first get held. Soemthing is wrong here.
  21. Im playing a Dark/Pain Corr at the moment.

My only main issue with Pain so far is Enforced Moral being almost a waste.

I know what it does. Many people don't however. They think it's clear mind, and they get frustrated when I can't make a "Hold" go away.

Based on the fact that it's not protection, but resistance and adds other nice bonuses I would personally rather have clear mind. Considdering the power does not last long enough to add any form of considderable resistance, and it only hits one person at a time and it should be stacked.

I could stack it all day and see very little benefit, and since Im mashing it, Im not mashing something else more usefull.

If it were a group buff like a thermal shield or something then maybe it would be benificial...but otherwise It' more trouble than it's worth.
  22. My issue with Keyes is that the mechanics make it unfun.

Im fine with the mobs, and Im fine with the mission.

The pulse reduces all but the melee non squishies to nothing but eating greens until you eventually run out and end up in the hospital anyhow.

People will argue with me I am sure, but everytime I do a Keyes half of the team quits anyhow so there is really no reason to ever do one.

    ~Stalkers lose stealth
~Doms depending on how they build will lose half health per pulse
    ~Controllers (Same as Dom really)
~Defenders (Healers can be and make the end easy...if they make it to the end)
    ~MM's Why bother!
    ~Corrs (Same as Defs)
~Blasters are used to death and don't complain as much

This really just means Scrappers/Brutes/Tanks are the only ones not really complaining about this trial

    It's just unfun!

Im sure now the Power Pack of Fan Chicks are gonna eat me alive...but then again this is my observation, and Im rarely daunted by things that are challenging.
  23. Actually...Im going to pose a bit of an argument.

People who are looking at races, religions and other aspects of MMO's that differentiate between factions of any type have a large rush at first towards being the darker of the options.

I have seen it with almost every game other than CoX, and I believe it's because people are told...Red is Dead, and it is party because of that that red is actually dead/quieter.

The thing is that when freedom becomes available I believe that Red will be more populated than it is now, except on the VIP server in which it will remain the same because of our current mentality.

I expect to see a large flux of people making villains, because frankly villains are often times more complex...or thats just my oppinion.

But I don't agree with Golden Girl at all when she says people prefer playing good over evil. I simply believe people prefer playing with others, and at this point, considdering Blue has been out longer and more people have a large amount of 50's blueside, and red currently is not as populated that people sort of leave red side alone.

Red has generally more compelling storylines. Better contructed arcs and much better dynamics.

    Long/Short

VIP server red will be dead.

Every Other server open to Freedom player will have flurishing Red Zones!
  24. Personally...I am getting nervous. Nervous like I was when AE came out.

I don't mind beng a VIP, and paying for things like powersets with my points.

However if any of my toons are altered that I have been playing for a long time, and to fix it, I need to pay for it, then well...I know Ill not be pleased.

They did that in another FTP super hero game and wrecked my toons.
  25. Imobdiots - Controller and Doms who open with an AOE imob before the tank goes in and Can't/Wont understand why they are dead so fast. (Elec fences and Plant control...Im look'n at you)

Prostit-tots - Boys/Girls who use hight slider and kilt to shorten both. They stand in Pocket D look'n like really naughty kids a la "hit me baby one more time"

CHUDS - Creepy-Huminanoids-Using-Dinky-Size....I'm a tank...look at me! Im so big! I can rule everything!....Don't make me go first! *Sobs Softly*
