they just halved the value and removed any insentive for me to have bought it in the first place and I think that also deserves compensation I have however hit a wall in terms of escalation no refund will be do to me for this post purchase nerf or the following post purchase nerfs there's nothing I can do, but go freemium when my timecards runout (in which case I have 8 months left) and advise against investing in the ppm system and tell people why
Halved the value? They destroyed the value. If they think a positron/lockdown/all-hold SBE proc is competitive with an ingame proc and has a value to pay for it, if not for the PPM mechanic, it is like saying the wall is green when it´s red.
I can´t trade it, i can´t swap it onto the other account. And the ingame proc is so common, even the most casual gamer could get it without much effort ingame. So i bought something that was treated WAI and now it is inferior to the ingame products. Same with the purple proc. You can slot it at 50 in both cases. But shouldnt you need it anymore (for example when the whole proc system (old and PPM) is destroyed, at least you can trade it.
They obviously made their decision.
They have their principles, i have mine. So, it is fine. They will live without me as a customer, and i will live without the feeling to give someone money when i only see the or $ in their eyes.
(once again, i think the "nerf"/alternation/whatever to the PPM mechanic is justified, but the way all the last decisions regarding the market were done, i just can´t justify to pay them 1 cent anymore).
We don´t need to raise the whole thing to a metalevel of descriptive justice or morality. It´s easier: I pay A for a good feeling. If i have no good feeling anymore, i go to B ...or to my couch ;P
Is it still ragequit when my head doesn´t turn red and i don´t shout at my monitor? ;P
Call it upsetquit and we are fine. -
BR/EM here.
She is rangesoftcapped, has good recharge:
I love how this set plays on a blaster. BR is best with a secondary that needs no attention. So EM was the best conclusion. Had a BR/Traps corr, pimped out and all, but wasn't at all impressed by the feel of playing it. BR/EM is just like: Wrooooooooooom BAAM, whooop, drrriii piu pewpew. At range where i can't get any alphareturns. And thanks to hoverblasting i survive. Was running around getting exploration badges, when I met Paladin..i just thought, ok, let's try, and damn, he fell. Had to use greens though, because the t3 blast is still only 40 base range.
Had an Archery/MM Blaster (yeah, pimped out), and simply don't like how it plays enough to bother playing it anymore. I prefer Overcharge over RoA, it is straight forward damage, no mob-alerting, not stucked in this damn pose for years (BR gets this nice wobbeling effect).
So, yeah BR is a viable option for a blaster. Love the feel (though the lags/delayed application of damage rly are bad sometimes) of it.
So, for me, BR over Archery every single day... but well, not everybody likes pineapples either. -
Quote:Fanboys aside who are ragging on people who are rightfully aggravated for having to wait weeks for a set that was ready for release weeks ago - I hope the people who run this game will reexamine this strategy of stringing out releases.
The idea that releasing two sets at the same time would piss off customers seems pretty ironic in this case. I'd say you'd have a lot less upset customers if they had a choice between two powersets at the same time, rather than making a large chunk of your paying customers wait on a set you've dangled in front of them for weeks while trying to get them to spend points on ligers and blessing of the zephyr io's. And if said customer had a desire to buy them both, they'd buy them both regardless of when they were released.
I was very excited initially about this set, but the excitement turned to aggravation as it became clear the set was being held back from release even though it was fully ready to be implemented. At this point, I'm really not sure if I'm going to even buy it now,(.........)
The reason I complain is because I like this game, and I want the people who run it, to run it intelligently so it sticks around for a while longer. So hopefully, the way this situation was handled was just a singular mistake, and not something that becomes commonplace.
/This and the post with missing the sweet point
To add in something else:
F2P or Pay4Gain is something where you have to be careful to not f... up with your customers (sry for my bad english in advance).
I am paying for 2 and sometimes 3 VIP accounts, bought much much from the P-Store. And I am fine with it. It is my hobby.
After a break from CoH (where my mainaccount was still charged) i played Hellgate Global, the F2P version. Even there I payed for things from the store, until the point, where the only communication we got from the devs were the weekly storechanges, but bugs were not treated as it should. So, seeing that the devs have given up that game, i only felt like a cash cow that had to be milked.
Ok, I lost interest- and at that point CoH Freedom was released, i came back to CoH and was seeing that a Cashshop was implemented. Ok I thought, let's see how their shop is made, and i was fully happy, as I had the feeling that it is mostly fair, CoH was in a much better shape than ever (looking back to EU Beta), the devs seemed to react on wishes.
Really thanks for it. Well, of course, paragon is not a charity-institution, but a company that works for money. ANd of course that is ok. If it's not for money the devs wouldn't sit in their offices for hours and hours.
But, you as a company have to give the customer a good feeling. That is what the customer is after. Cash for good feeling. I totally lose that good feeling when i am treated as a cash cow. Or better said: when I get the feeling that i am treated as a cash cow. And that was the problem with Staff fighting. I see their side of the medal, but hey, i see mine.
No, I won't ragequit or somehting like that, but my good feeling is fading away when i see that a carotte was hung in front of my nose, only to be able to eat that carotte after I ate many tomatoes because of marketing strategies.
Visualize following: A man goes to a certain establishment to get a good feeling, he knows it is a lie, the other side doens't want him to actually feel good, they want him to pay. And they know that he will only pay again when he got a good feeling.
Here the devs made a poor job. They gave us too much insight to their selling strategy.
For me personally, i will not buy the set when it comes out, because i have 10 other projects on chars before of that, i simply lost my interest, and am little disappointed by the selling strategy.
At all, i wish the devs learn from that, because i simply love that game, and don't want that customers leave because of such customer-unfriendly decisions.
Again, sry for my bad english.
Btw... Zwillinger has twins... Zwilling is german for twin. Is that releated? ;P -
Quote:But....and that is most important with rad: You have everything you need: Buff, debuff, Heal, control, rez.The other thing about Rad is that two of the big debuffs are toggles. These consume end and will turn off if you're mezzed, while some of the debuffs from other sets (Cold Domination, Traps, Dark Miasma) are either clicks or clicked patches (Heat Loss, Sleet, Freezing Rain, Tar Patch) which are fire and forget.
Depending on how you like to play and what things you're doing, you may prefer some of the features from the other sets. For example, Radiation isn't particularly effective during the prisoner escape phase in BAF, but Sleet and Tar Patch are great for slowing down the minion escapees.
There's more to powers than just their raw numbers.
Prior to incarnates i wouldnt mind that someone has no heal or rez, but...looking at the trials (especially MoM), both are good arguments.
Love my new rad/sonic rly hard
Since my attacks debuff, the anchortype of the debuffs is fantastic. For normal fights i just put the enervating field on the mobs and debuff via blasts.
Rodion is right when he says that numbers dont tell everything, but rad is such a swiss army knife- you cant go wrong -
Poison as it stands is nice.
It is never as effective as for example radiation which adds a huge toolbox. So is time. Or cold. Or Kin. Or traps. Or Dark. It adds no status protection to yourself. No selfheal, no selfbuff.
But what rly upsets is the fact, that as a single target oriented character you just dont have the right tool to support your team effectivly against hard mobs / aka AVS GMS etc.
And as it would fit the theme better than any other set out there:
Give poison (in weaken or envenom) the -regen value it deserves.
It cant be that other supportoptions grant more for the team on single and on massfights, whereas poison just shines at fighting bosses.
And if you are at it: Give alkaloid the rezanimation and make it pbaoe (hmmm...i can dream ...cant I?)
Final statement: Make posion a viable option for even the numberboys, not just the /puke animation lovers (in fact that is where you find me...a puke lover). -
Capped ranged defense, 30 to S/L, 41 to Energy/negative... 135 recahrge with hasten.

My main is now an ill/rad.. And since i almost always dualbox, i searched for a good addition to that. Mainly because the AOE damageoutput, i decided for Plant/rad/fire.
Seeds will do great (stack on bosses) with the single target confuse of Illusion for controll. Enough AoE damage and AoE containment. GMs and AVs will fall. Additional -res debuff for more damage. One of my safest Duos.
I respecced in chocking cloud for some more safety- win.
Nicest thing you can do with that combo: Place PA between two or three x8 spawns, draw aggro from all, wait until they clump up, seeds with contagious proc in the clump...and then AOE them to death.. it works. It´s nice
Double AM will let forget your endurance and recharge problems. -
I strongly suggest psionic assault as secondary. Just for the -regen component in Drain Psyche for AV or GM fights.
A welcome addition in the world of debuffs -
Quote:Yeah, the direction is good (the reason why i distingueshed between "master content" and "access to content"), the conclusion wrongBy far the best answer, and what I was thinking when I saw this thread. Warshades and Peacebringers (and VEATS) have access to content that no other AT can access. And the Kheld storylines are longer than the VEAT ones. Khelds can also access all the content available to other ATs.
I can´t create Veats or Khelds for going rogue. So, they miss pretty much content i would say. Never made the storylines of Khelds, but i can´t believe they are longer than whole Praetoria? -
Have mixed feelings about that too.
It is a great change (especially for new players).
But why so late? I3 should have this -
Disagree.
Stalkers can´t debuff the regeneration rate, so they can´t fight GMs for example (ok, he can fight, but he cannot win). ATs (and there only specialists) capable of that (fighting GMS) are afaik: Controllers, Masterminds, Corrupters, Mental Blasters and eventually Defenders (here I don´t know if they have enough damage ouput).
So, basically they can master more content than stalkers (access to all content have all ATs except the epic ones). So... -
Airhammer, there are proc/power combinations that make an already good power even much more better. My favorite example is Shriek from Sonic attack (base 3 secs recharge) powered up with an apocalypse dmg proc. Fast recharging, part of a attack chain, resist debuffing, yeah= full win. Every third attack (and in my experience more often) you get that tasty extra-damage. Which is even more enhanced by the - resist component of the sonic attack set. (Mid numbers defenders: Enhanced to cap from 30 base to 60, with apoproc approximatly 95 in average...)
Yeah, I like purple procs very much. Normal procs- it depends. But purple procs are so good, it´s a nonbrainer if your build and your inf can handle it. (sometimes a proc just doesn´t fit in a power, cause you need other bonuses much more). -
Plant/rad or Plant/Kin.
Really, both would be good.
I play a plant/rad with Ill/rad duo that is a beast.
Since I´m dualboxing and sick of speeboosting and for more brutal AV killing awesomeness, I took plant/rad to acompany my ill/rad.
Both plant and ill have confusepowers that work well together and are fast recharging. Ill brings a good alphataker to the table, when plant provides the betacontrol and gives AoE containment (and damage) that Ill lacks. Kin would be a AOE killer in higher levels, while giving nice + recharge for the Ill´s PA.
Really, I recommend one of the 2 above. You can´t go wrong with that. -
Quote:
3) Chain Fences - Area effect immobilize, Minor damage.- 9.18 Energy damage.
- 0.90 Accuracy.
- 8s Recharge time.
- 15.60 Endurance cost.
- 1.17 Activation time.
- 80 ft. range. 30 ft Radius. 16 Targets max.
- Mag 3 Immobilize. 27.94 Duration.
- Anti-Fly for 15s.
- -10% Endurance.
- 40% Chance for -100% recovery for 6s.
I have one question regarding the AOE immob: Here is stated that it does 9,18 damage but not over a period of time, so am I right to assume it is instadamage? If yes, then the power is rly good as far as I see. Can´t remember another AOE imoob that gives all damage frontloaded, something that should be really good with higher levels and high recharge (with recharge rates at 2,7 secs for example). maybe it´s done so, so it can´t interfere the pulsing sleep, but who knows
Can someone prove this? -
So the team will be: plant/rad, plant/rad, rad/arch plus the new one?
Go definitivly sonic. with a fourth maneuver running, and little slotting, you are near softcap nontheless. A second layer of protection, resistance is a welcome addition to that. As well, sonic will give you a nice res debuff when charging in, and a nice res debuff for AVs. If the new char is activly played, make an ill/sonic, if passivly i would add Ice/sonic and go in for the fight after seeds. That will debuff the recharge on enemies and stack with your confuse of seeds. If you don+t need more mitigation, then go for a Fire/sonic as a passive damagedealer (hotfeet and imps, yeah). -
Quote:Also I rly think you have a point, there is one thing that makes synchronized builds better (as far as bonuses goes): they allow to synchronize power usage.Have you considered diversifying your builds some? Some powers become far more powerful when stacked, like AM, Choking Cloud, Leadership and most AoE controls. But in some cases, multiple copies of the same power is redundant. Do you really need all three characters to have Hover, Fly, Recall Friend and Mutation?
Frankly, you can get by easily with just Super Speed and Hover -- skip Fly. (Heck, with the Raptor Pack and the temp Jet Pack and the Jet Pack you get from the Positron TF and the Zero G Pack, you really don't need Hover, either. Take Combat Jumping for the immob protection.) Let one of your characters be the 'porter with stealth. The others can then add a little bit of diversity -- Spore Burst, Spirit Tree, EM Pulse, Tactics are all powers that might be useful, even with only one or two.
If you say for example that taking instead of Recall friend vengance, then ok. ( Because it won´t change the recharge times of the powers). -
Quote:Yeah, would be much easier... using Synergy too for dualboxing and also have "only" two PCs here. had always problems with Hotkeynet to designate the proper windows with Coh, so I used to run a rather passive Char as 3rd (mostly a Sonic/sonic defender).
As for this...
Well, this is how it goes.
If your using 3 computers and 3 accounts (or whatever, 1 computer per account) you can get along with just Synergy with the Broadcast patch, found here.
http://www.fundamentzero.com/index.htm
This is from Dr.Mike2000's sig. on the left side is a picture of "City of Heroes X2" click on that and follow the instructions, it's pretty easy.
If, like me, your using 2 computers and three accounts you need also install software that will send keystrokes to the different windows, I am using HotKeyNet, which is free software, you have to write your own scripts to do it, so my advice is to have one PC per account, much much easier. -
I made 2 builds (for the Controllers and the defender) so you can get an idea of slotting... personally I would not take hover and fly, but good, I let it in. But I changed Vengeance with lingering radiation. You won´t fight AVs without it....
Turn off AM and turn on Accolades to roughly simulate tripple AM (ok, here you are +10% above)
With the maneuvers from the other chars you should be softcapped to ranged. Since you want ranged, go for it.
Charge with your Controllers, lock the enemys down, drop EF, Go in, 3 CCs with holdprocs should hold everything, Souldrain on defender, Rain of arrows.. next spawn.
Btw: Can you post your Multiboxing software?

Few new thoughts on your problem: If the enemy group is not clumped as for example nemesisgroups, you could solve your problem very nice with these changes to slotting: by lvl 32 you can slot lvl 35 enhancements, and with the premise that you should sixslot your main controllsource (when IOing at 50 5 would be enough if you don´t want extra ranged defense), you can slot seeds as followed: 2 acc, 1 confuse, 2 range and one confuse/range from the perplex set ginving you: 76% acc, 54% range (near capped), and 59 confuseduration giving you: 129% base accuracy, 77 feet range and 59 seconds of confuseduration. 77 feet with a 60 degree wide arc should a hit everything and their mother
The recahrge with hasten and tripplestacked AM should be enough to lower down the recahrge of Seeds to approximatly 24 seconds (enough for every spawn on this lvl).
One problem can not be solved by that: Caves where mobs are standing on stones or behind stones etc.here the PA is rly making a little difference.
One thing: Don´t be shy to use enervating field. Since a hate the longish animation time of RI, EF is dropped rly fast and provides two very good effects: Enemy damage is lowered, and Your damage (3 EFs..holy god) is improved (especially on bossmobs).
For better control while trippleboxing i suggest:

Quote:Ok, now I know where you come from, writing from work, so can+t go to much into detail: How is your Hardware setup, 3 pcs all enabled to synchronize your buttons? Mouse is not synchronized but able to go to another screen?level 32 stuff, so Council, Freaks, CoT that kinda stuff.
I have perma 3x AM at all times with near perma Hasten (it's off by about 5-10 seconds max) and my debuff routine is two RI's with a EF tossed in, problem is that if things get around the anchor and are not debuffed I can't take the pounding, we're really Squishy, and I have 3x Manouvers and hover going too.
I'm doing something REALLY wrong here, I dunno, it might be a limitation of 3 boxing as everything is funneled through 1 target rather then hitting three different spots at once.
Here is a question, if I am stealthed and my pets are not will they attack me or the pet first?
Also, I wonder if I should take Tough/Weave and just get some more Res/Def??
Some answers: When stealthed, the mobs attack your pets (and if I+m not wrong completly, have to test it later, the produced aggro can transfer to the holder of the pet).
I don+t think it+s needed to use tough/ weave.
Designate the Healpower to one additional button of the mouse. The heal is good when 3 of htem fire in the same time. tripplestacked AM with hasten should be good recharge for anything.
Another Idea would be, since endurance should be no problem, take Chocking cloud, and after the initial doubleseed go into hand to hand combat: Since most mobs rush after their initial ranged attack into melee, they will get into the gases of Radiation (RI, EF, CC) and locked down to eternity. with three CCs running, (lockdownproc is avaible from 30) they should be held very good, even bosses.
Yes, if you are running +4 level content, tone it down to +2 or +1. The masses will give you better rewards.
Maybe later today some more infos on dual/trippleboxing.
btw: I love Cot with my plant/rad, Freaks are no problem, and Nemesis, while problematic with 1 planter (but my Ill provides good help with single confuse) should be no problem with double seeds. Dunno.
Should my PA not be avaible, I delibaretly pull with seeds or, if up, Carrion creepers. If seeded, I wait until they are clumped, and then root them. Never had real issues with that approach (wait until you can slot the confuse proc, it makes a real good power even better) -
Well, I don´t know where to begin with.
First: I recommend an Ill/rad purely for 1 reason: Fighting AVs. With your teamsetup you will tear AVs like nothing.
but I have one question. How in hell are you wiping so often?... 3x radiation infection, 3 times enervating field, 3 times healoptions. 2 x seeds for even boss control on even nemesis? I´m normaly not rude and say things like: learn to play, but with your former setup i don´t see reasons to wipe. Rad with plant is so effective in producing mitigation and damage (death is the best debuff), it´s unfunny.
But to give a +1 for ill/rad:
I´m dualboxing right now a ill/rad with a plant/rad. Both 50, both IO´d.. It´s fun. Giant monsters fall fast, AVs faster, and nothing is hard to kill. The best thing you will be able to do is: 3 spawns at once: Cast PA in the middle, let the baddies rush your PAs, seeds, roots, carrion creepers and the ill will concentrate on bosses. Evtl if needed enervating field..
One of my next projects is: plant/ cold and plant/kin duo. (right just because of doubleseeds for eternity...)
But still, I can´t believe you wipe that often.. -
Quote:Well, then I misread "I'd pretty much think that if you gave anyone the same character with the right build they'd be doing entire arcs and AVs undefeated in no time". That an av needs nearly no skill with the right build, here we share the opinion, but this sentence above implicates the whole road through a story arc, which is 95% fights vs groups and 5% AVs. An AV inside a spawn of x8 needs some skill (or experience) because you have to kill the whole spawn, avoiding AOEs early on inside one minute. (ok, you could confuse the AV to kill his henchmen). And like Frosticus said, he failed two times to complete the arc without a defeat, and that is with experience and a right build.I have an Illusion and feel that plonking some pets who will keep aggro well on an AV and getting on with the job at hand is pretty trivial. x8 setting missions is a different kettle of fish but I wasn't referring to that. I'd like to think that anyone can read the details of a power, test a few ideas and within a day go about playing an Illusion well, versus AVs given the right build. Personal survivability versus a AV isn't exactly a worry compared to playing other sets as pets take aggro. With them taking aggro you don't have to worry as much as other sets about what the AVs are capable of.
I don´t say it´s the same as going with an emp/elec into the battle, but saying it´s nothing notable is simply false.
I think you share my opinion but the harshness of your words could not be left alone
One thing left: I share your hope reagrding the ability to read, but as I stated above, my playtime says some different things. -
My newest dualboxpair is a plant/rad controller with an ill/rad controller. It´s absolutly awesome to see them in action. There should be nothing that is a threat to you: Both chars get awesome powers early in the game. The singletarget confuse in Ill doubles the usefullness of seeds since even bosses will be confused. The lack of containment in Ill will be given by Plant. You can say that you pair a singletarget specialist with a AoE monster and get more than the sum of both. You will be able to pull above the aggrolimit ( for example 3 spawns of +1/x8) with Phantom army, and be able to kill them easily thanks to seeds.
In the Endgame, AVs will be a nice snack between. Although it´s powerful, it demands some coordination by the 2 players so it should not get boring too soon. (and you don´t have to buff to much, aside a doublestacked Accelerate Metabolism which gives good + dam, + recharge and most important +recovery). The most important thing with that combo is: it matures early in the game and is rly a blast to play and a good force multiplicator. If you team, ou should make every PUG invincible.
Maybe you see how much I like the combination of both
My next duo will be: Ice/cold and Ice/ Kin controllers. Buth these will mature slowly in the damage department...(but controlwise early)
Emp/Sonic duo is strong, but could get boring after a while.
Eventually a Cold/Ice defender duo (strong but matures later).
You see, I prefer Blueside Controller or defender combinations because they are better forcemultipliers. (nowadays I prefer controllers, since i hate to run after the minions ;P) -
Sry, but to say it takes absolute no skill (in CoH terms) to play an ill controller vs +x/8 is nonsense. Or better said: It takes the same skill as a Shieldscrapper or reflex scrapper (where the build is even more important). It takes some time to understand the mechanics and the best approach. The rest is determined bye the to hit calculator.
Of course the highendtasks are a matter of a build. Without a proper build, it would be luck to succeed.
And although I know that CoH is not rocket science, I would never say that everybody can do the same things given the same character. My playtime experience says simply the opposite.
Edit: Rereading it: It takes more skill to play a ill controller than a shield/SR scrapper. The approach is simply more difficult than go in and scrap. -
Quote:How would that slotting affect the endurance costs and holding abilities though?
Also, do damage procs gain the benefit of reduced damage resistance. I would think so...
With 3 AMs running, slotted with Endmodifiers, you should have no problem with endurance (net gain of 3 end with 3 AMs and all toggles).
And yes, procs are modified by -res. Apocalypse proc in shriek is pure winunbreakable Constraint proc in CC coul be another proc option (it´s cheap).
One thing: Afaik the -res proc will only be up once on one enemy. No matter how much casters because it is no debuff, but a granted power to the victim. And the victim can only apply this debuff once on him. But I´m not 100% sure on this one.
