I've been on that SF and it was also the only time it happened for me. I've done the Ice Mistral SF two other times this week and it went smoothly. I also did the IMSF every couple of months before got the whole WST thing and it never happened.

On the other hand, last week on an ITF we couldn't the first mission because one boss enemy spawned under the map so we couldn't get Sister Solaris to react to us. A GM fixed for us in about five to ten minutes.

Conclusion: The devs hate co-op content.

    Is it just me...

As others have said, I didn't notice any change. Around every Issue release there's people who like what they're getting and people who're disappointed with it and they argue. This dies down after a month the Issue is released and starts up when more information about the next gets released.

So close to I20 as we are, naturally we'll be seeing more threads.

Oh, also, I don't usually post in newbie question threads but I sometimes check them out, but those still seem as friendly as helpful as ever. This is the thing we're known for being friendly about. Oldbies may argue a lot, but they're all very friendly and inviting to newcomers.
  3. I think I'll mostly stick to the Ice Mistral Strike Force this week. That pretty much solves all my concerns.
  4. Well, what the devs tried is to set up Cole as literally everyone's enemy. Heroes are naturally against him becaus he's an interdimensional invader and villains want him gone because he's busting in on their turf, plus the promise of stealing his phat lewts and bust in on his turf. The Resistance have obviously been against Cole since level 1.

It's a wee bit more complicated with Loyalists, though, but not really much. The idea is that Power guys are in it, well, for power. They want to rise through the ranks and gain control over those they consider inferior. Then they learn that Emperor Cole plans to basically replace everyone with clones of himself and realise there's no future for them in Praetoria so they head out into Earth Prime. By the time they're 50 they're mighty powerful and they don't feel like becoming someone's lackey again, so they hold no sympathies to Emperor Cole.

As for the Responsibility guys, well, I always took them as the good cops in a corrupt state. They want to make their world a safe one to live in Then at the end of their stay in Praetoria they learn about their Emperor's invasion plans and realise that not only many people in Earth Prime will die, they will take the fight to them and the civilians and innocents in their own home dimension will suffer and perish. At this point the good cop decides to go on a diplomatic mission to Earth Prime to both show them that us Praetorians aren't all that bad and to show their dear and loving Emperor that peaceful coexistence is possible and preferable over an all-out war.

Then your Emperor shows up and calls you a naive idiot and at least at that point the good cop's illusions might start to crumble.

On that note, the Behavioural Adjustment Facility and Lambda Sector are purely military targets with next to no civilians around. The Responsibilities strike there to cripple the war efforts and minimise civilian casualties, and in the case of the BAF prevent mindwashed Resistance members to run amok in the city and kill innocents.

So as I said earlier, the devs tried to set up Emperor Cole as literally every toon's enemy. I think we can all assume the reasons for that are purely practical. Instead of making a huge amount of content in a little amount of time for Heroes, Villains and several Praetorian orientations, they just focus on one thing. Of course, when you have one thing meant to suit everyone, you'll just end up stepping on plenty of toes.
  5. How dare you stereotype my server! All the stereotypes are wrong unlike the stereotypes about your server, which are all 100% true!

Edit: Seriously now, is there any reason for the seeming enmity between Virtue and Freedom players or is that just some kinda silly rivalry based on being the two biggest servers?

The only time I ever got the Midnight Dodger badge was a team where we had so much stacked Maneuvers and other defense buffs that the whole team was around 100% defense. That and destroy the Director in under a minute made sure none of the bombs actually hit us.

So yeah, in my experience defense helps plenty.

And about Battle Maiden: If she actually regenerated while she was gone, after a minute or two of fighting Champs she should be back to full. It's a safe assumption that she does not regen while she's off the map (back in orbit?)

    Fun with Apex

This only tempts me to make an All-Stalker SF.
  8. As far as I know you have to hit the coin to trigger the last phase of the mission.

That said, if the drones are inactive, they seem to be unable to catch any aggro, so all enemies head straight to the players. The reason you still fight on the bottom of the stairs is that the drones are still susceptible to AoE damage. So the reason you failed is because the War Walker AoE damage destroyed a drone.

I can only assume, but it seems like the uninformed person heard "if you want the Master badges, you need to fight at the bottom of the stairs" and holds this as the gospel truth and if you ever slightly approach the stairs the badges won't be awarded. You know, the kinda people that care a lot about the how but don't spend a single thought on the why.

    Fun with Apex

"All ATs welcome" has always been my motto regardless of what I'm doing. If I really feel that a certain AT is necessary, I will switch if necessary to fill that hole. Otherwise I feel anything can be made to work with the tools you're given.
  10. Two days ago I threw a Renault SF together, and a couple weeks ago I did both Posi 1 and 2 in a row. It's a wee bit harder to throw them together but not majorly so.

I dunno, with the amount of people that are concerned over the lack of low-level toons you'd think there'd be lots of low-level toons. It feels kinda incongruous.

  12. Aw, now it loads the normal City of Heroes start screen first.

How can I change it to the Praetoria one again?
  13. So as far as I'm aware, when I6 and CoV first came out, the Operative Renault Strike Force went kinda like this: You had a mission in Sharkhead Isle, then a Hunt of 20 Longbow in Nerva's Agincourt neighbourhood, a mission in Sharkhead, a mission in Mercy and then two more hunts of 10 Longbow in Nerva.

I dunno when it was changed, but whenever I did the Renault SF, it went from the hunt in Agincourt right to the double-hunt of Longbow in Nerva, skipping two missions. I did the Renault SF yesterday (it's been a long while since I last did the SF admittedly), and the two cut missions were back in, and it really caught me off-guard. I cannot remember any patch notes or posts about this happening.

So, does anyone know when the missions were put back into the Renault SF and why? Or for that matter, does anybody even know why they were cut in the first place?
  14. This is going to sound petty. Hell, it IS petty, but I am kinda tempted to just ragequit CoX over this idiocy.

I know Paragon Studio is not responsible for this, but it's not like it matters when NCSoft tries to make it impossible for you to renew your subscription (or god-forbid if you want to cancel an automatically-renewed subscription but cannot access your account!). It's like the higher-ups saw [insert MMO here]'s RealID and thought, hmmm, that system was already intrusive and horrible. How can we make it worse?

That said, I hope this goes the way of RealID. Then again, Blizzard is a US company. NCSoft is a Korean company and we're predominantly European/American users. I fear NCSoft just will not give a damn.
  15. I actually only ever put in gibberish into those fields precisely because I think those security questions are never actually ever secure.

Now I'm afraid I'll end up locking myself out of my NCSoft account forever. If I disappear at the end of the month, you'll know why!

You can do the ITF with an all level 35 team and Romulus Nictus would spawn as level 35 as well. I assume the new TFs are gonna work the same way.

Posi in the LRSF once gave me three shards. I was pretty flabbergasted when I saw that.

Anyway, I am pretty sure the ITF is so shardilicious is because it has a plethora of EBs, who in turn have a higher drop-chance for shards than bosses and below, as well as six AV fights, counting Romulus Nictus as four. With so many enemies with a higher drop-chance you can naturally get more shards in less time than other TFs.

The RNG being a cruel deity who will smite you if you don't sacrifice enough goats, though, you'll sometimes just get nothing.
  18. Almost all of my toons regardless of their morality use red. Some use black also, but I am pretty much incapable of using a colour that isn't red when making toons.
  19. The only time a cyst was ever dangerous to me was when some Nemesis lieutenants stacked Vengeance on it and its Nicti.

All the other one hundred times cysts don't even register as speedbumps. I heard they used to be a bigger threat but by the time I started playing a Peacebringer they weren't anymore.

Oh, and this isn't just talking about high-level either. The last time I saw a cyst was on my Warshade on a level 15-ish team. They had no problem either. Seriously, the boost Kheldians get from their inherent is pretty sex when they're on a full team, it's practically a crime not to team with them.
  20. Farming bores me, so I don't do. I don't exactly if others do or not, either. You do what you find fun, I do what I find fun, and everybody's happy.
  21. The thing is yeah, we always had enemies spawning as +1 to the current difficulty, but ever since the difficulty setting revamp, that system was borked.

For example, you could have three minions at +0 or two minions at +1, or a minion and a lieutenant at +0 but just a lieutenant at +1. The +1 mobs were smaller to make up for their increased strength.

With the new difficulty system though, we get three minions at +1 or a minion and a lieut at +1. This is what makes the whole +1 code noticably harder.
  22. Enemies kill-stealing my other enemies. What has the world come to...
  23. The only thing I wanna see done to Peacebringers is the Recharge for [Conserve Energy] cut down a lot so it becomes at least vaguely equal to [Stygian Circle].

Other than that I love my tri-form PB and still play her regularly. Yeah, she'll never be the best at anything, but to me this game has never been about efficiency but about flashiness, and if there's one thing my PB can do it's flash!

Wait that didn't come out right

I'd really rather it got sorted but, hey, I also know the record for ever revamping/fixing stuff around here...
You can actually enter a contact chain in the middle or end of it red-side. If your goal is Technician Naylor, you don't necessarily have to start with Darla Mavis to get to him. In fact, the couple of times I went for Technicial Naylor I never once met Darla Mavis because I'm usually already 30 by the time I leave Sharkhead Isle.

Excepting unlockable or otherwise special contacts, every contact red-side can be gotten by doing a Mayhem Mission in the right level range and right zone. And yes, I know ParagonWiki says that Naylor is introduced by Psimon who in turns is introduced by Darla who has to be gotten through a Mayhem Mission, but that information is incomplete.
