    People read slow.

Asking people to read slow is like, like well it just won't work.

Keep up the good work Posi!!

Do you have an NPC using the "Captured (Energy Field)" animation? They've changed that animation. This is causing arcs to not start, but it doesn't flag the arc as having errors when you go in to edit it.

Edit your arc and republish it. You can select the new "Captured (Energy Field)" if you want, or leave it at the default starting animation. When you republish it, it should be accessible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

ARGH! Thank you! I couldn't figure out why my published arc was not working. It showed no errors when I went to edit it but I couldn't play it either.

    Meh.

I just re-signed up a few days ago, thinking I'd give this game another shot with some friends.

Before todays patch, it would crash maybe once an hour. Post-patch today it has crashed twice in 5 minutes.

Vista64, Q6600, GF8800gt, with the newest drivers and the hotfix (properly installed) suggested in a different thread.

I'm not rolling back my drivers (for many reasons), so what should I do? Just pay for this one month, play 3 days, and quit once again?

    [/ QUOTE ]

As suggested earlier post dxdiag and hijackthis logs so others may be able to help.

As to a few others in this thread, could we keep it to the topic at hand? Having an argument about Windows 64 bit is not helping the OP.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
I have endured the random driver crashes that apparently come with having Vista and a new graphics card, but it was only a minor annoyance. Until today. This morning's patch has aggravated this error so badly that I can't even get to the login screen without the game crashing. Thanks alot. If you didn't want my money, you could have just said so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A deep breath may be in order. First, as I'm sure you can read the hotfix for Vista WAS from Microsoft so CoX wasn't the cause of the problem. Playing CoX exposed the problem but it wasn't because of something they did.

Second, I have 3 machines running Vista and running CoX. I had the initial crashing problem until I installed the hotfix. Now I'm fine. As others have mentioned, they all run Vista and are not having problems.

Finally, in saying all that I think you need to take a second look at your system. As someone above me has indicated you need to post some more information regarding your problem and see if people can help diagnose what is wrong with your computer.

Frustration is understood blaming CoX for the problem is not
  5. Hmmm, yeah I went in to check and make sure my one published arc was still working and it won't run. I loaded it up in EDIT to check it and there are no errors showing, but I still can't play it =[

Guess I'll just have to wait until they fix whatever the problem is.

    Arc Reviews

I would appreciate anyone's honest feedback on my first published arc.

Arc Name: Dawn of a New Day
    Arc ID: 131320
Faction: All Customs - Chancellor Security, Priddellians
Synopsis: Hero(es) are sent on a wild goose chase in the beginning to create a cover for an evil leader to try and take over Paragon City. With your contacts help, you have to figure out what is really going on and put a stop to the plan.

Scales rather well as I ran it with my lvl 43 emp/ele defender and was able to finish it. If you want to run it at 50 and have upp'd the difficulty you should probably bring a few friends for the last mission.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  7. I've run into the same problem. I tried a map that said 8 possible patrols and or ambushes but by the time I was done it was only allowing for 6. Maybe it had something to do with the type of the group of enemies I was working with...shrug.

As Culex indicated I don't understand a lick of it either >.<

    Arc Name: The Oblivion Lens
    Arc ID: 91897
    Faction: Heroic
    Time: 45 minutes.
Synopsis: What starts out as a battle against the Circle of Thorns turns into something far more dire when a mysterious artifact is recovered. (Does contain an arch villain in the last mission.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Decided to try this one on my 50 ng/ng blaster. The custom group is nicely done, a little rough for soloing blaster with all those to hit debuffs but I persevered to the end =] Reading through all the content, I would have to say it seems a tad bit confusing. I know this won't be a lot of help (sorry) but maybe somehow if you are going to do some editing maybe try and make the story a bit more clear.

I made it clear to the AV and gave him one try but he was a bit too much for my poor lil blaster.

Over all a very nice original story.
  9. Steam is a distribution engine that was developed by Valve. They are the group that gave the gaming community Halflife, Counter Strike, Day of Defeat and yes I could go on.

It is only a voluntary distribution conduit for you to keep track of games and updates. Keep track of friends and what games they are playing. It's pretty awesome that Paragon Studios has decided to take this step. So many people using Steam now, it will most likely result in an influx of new players. =]

    Nice work Paragon Studios!!!
  10. I can understand the player's frustration. But as the OP said it is a new tool and I think with time MA peeps will learn how to scale their bosses better.

The last two missions in the arc I'm working on are probably pretty rough atm. I've even given the player help with a high level ally, but it still may not work. Shrug. =]

I may rework it a bit more but I think as long as the players of the MA missions gives valuable feedback to help the builders know when they may have gone over board will go a long way in helping find the even balance for the harder missions.
  11. I'm going to go out on a limb here and post what I "think" the devs are hoping will happen here.

Honest players will ignore the ratings and play arcs and missions based on their descriptions. Thus if the mission is good, these people will rate it accordingly.

We just need to hold tight and weather through this initial stage of people "griefing" with 1 star ratings and let things settle.

I for one have not gotten over to play any player missions but I do intend to and I WILL be honest in my ratings and I will post comments as well.

All I can say is have faith in the core group of honest fellow players and ignore those that grief just because they can.
  12. YAY, I'm on someone's ignore list. Oh well that really bothers me.....o wait.

Did you ever think that when Posi mentioned the respec that was when it was going to be. Then maybe, just maybe something happened and it had to change. And maybe, just maybe to make things easier to everyone involved they decided to group things together and do several maintenance projects during, god forbid, maintenance.

You all also act like, you'll never get another free respec again.....guess what? I'm sure you will. Long time players maybe should not respec every other day and you might have a few respecs left don't ya think?

Also, I image that Posi is extremely busy and has a lot on his mind. God forbid the lead designer of a very well developed game makes a statement that turns out later to be in error, most likely due to circumstances beyond his control.

Good lord people, here I thought this was the City of X forums and not the World of Whinecraft forums. What the hell is wrong with some of you.

I come here to get away from all the cry babies on the WoW forums and all I see are people crying over time frames of announcements. Good god some of you are pathetic.

some of us are getting a little annoyed as to the way things are "forgotten" If you don't like what I say, put me on ignore.

Actually no, I'll just sit back and watch you blow a gasket over a game, all the while laughing till my sides hurt.

And to Snow Globe's latest response, well I'm sure the next time they want to give out a free respec they will be sure to check with you on your schedule and to make damn sure you've already used your respec from the last time before they schedule the next one. <rolls eyes>

  15. I am a one person villain SG with all my alts in it. I have 15 alts in there so I'm at the max prestige I can get for members (starter prestige). If that is all you want, there really doesn't seem to be a need to upgrade your plot from the original 8x8, thus making rent a moot point.

I just earned enough prestige over the weekend to put in a control and energy room plus one each of the base control and energy pieces. Along with the starter combo set, this supplies more then enough energy and control to run my two transporters, my medbay my salvage storage and invention table. I've read and found it to be true that you really don't need more then 4 teleport beacons if you are a villain.

So yes it's very doable and I have to admit I've had loads of fun making my own private base. Now as I earn more prestige I can play around with the decor and really get it looking sweet.

In fact, I saved Lord Recluse's post about this:
    [ QUOTE ]
Rent does not cause item decay. The affect of rent is that your functional items become non-functional. You can be offline for a month and your base will be unchanged. Back rent does not accrue. All you need to do is make the most current payment and your base is fully functional again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well to be honest, he did say the truth.

A: You do not lose items. Nothing disappears.
B: Nothing does change about your base.
C: Base rent does not incure past the 1st due (will not stack).

So all in all, what was said is true. Just not the whole truth. You are correct that they never stated that we could be locked out of our bases after soo much time.

I am also co-leader of a small COV SG. We have around 32 members, of which probably half are on regularly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This discussion is failing, in part, because we have a really broad definition of "small" being used here. I've been admonished for calling my 14 member SG small and here you're calling a 32 member SG small?! There's no way I could call a 32 member group small given the upper limit is 75. What then is an average group? A mid sized group? A large group? A very large group?

    [/ QUOTE ]

agreed, 32 members is by no means small. To me 15 or under is small.
    15-40 = medium
    40-60 = large
    60+ super

    at least IMHO

    [ QUOTE ]
I am just dissapointed because my SG of 5 RL friends and a couple of additions wants a base...not a raidable base just a base.

but to get the function we want we'd need a power room, control room, work room, teleport room, infirmary, and a hall. At 150k a room that's 900k just for rooms. All that prestige just for the ability to rez at your base and teleport to hazard zones.

I like the idea of having general rooms (power, control, infirmary) be cheaper and having raid specifc items and rooms cost more.

That way casual gamers/SGs could get a functioning base reasonably quickly. While big active groups who would want to (and would be able to) do trials and raids would have a higher goal to work at.

My friends and I were very discouraged when we saw how much we had vs. how much we needed to build even the smallest base, and now we have 998 rent due on our entrance portal. Anyone know how to erase your base?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just want to chime in to be one of hopefully many voices heard on this subject. This is our VG's almost exact situation and attitude about the whole base issue. We really like it. We are really trying to make it work, but it is very discouraging. Every time we chat about it, we wonder why the core systems are so expensive.

Essentially we want Zone TP, medibay/rez circle (that returns you to point of death like the hero's does), that thing I heard a rumor about that sells you and purchaces from you inspirations... and really some decorations... oh and the mission computer... we are just now scrimping just enough for the mission computer so we all don't miss the level 20 to 25 SF ...while we are still in our 20s. (a couple of us are going to have to exemp down as is.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am one that feels the same way as well. Don't want a "raidable" base. Just want what they want above. Something with just a few bells and whistles so we can do a few extra things that will make our villian lives a little more easier. Exactly like they have said above. I would like to build a small base with an infirmary, a workroom, a teleporter and a "commons" area for our small group to be able to "hang" out if we want. we are a small group.

As to the one question about deleting your base, you don't have to pay the rent just let it go. You won't lose anything. Just when you are ready to continue just go pay it. Back rent does not accumulate.

I was intrigue by the theory earlier in this post about the devs not having the content behind some of the larger buildable items, which is why they are so expensive to place. Very possible they don't have the code in place to actually make the stuff work..........very good theory from whoever thought of it.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I have to agree with Reality Check. Bases do seem to be violently skewed to large SG/VG's. One of the most attractive elements of the 'City' games, IMHO, has been the ability to affiliate and identify with a small group but still feel like you make a difference. Now, if you associate with a small group you are at a distict and SEVERE disadvantage.

    *shrug*

    I, for one, am disappointed...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would have to agree as well. Those of us with small groups, that still enjoy playing our heroes as well and went to COV to create a small SG with our mains and all our alts still doens't number the limit of 15 bonus cap. Yeah some of you will come along and say well why didn't you join another group? Well because we didn't want to. I look at all the cool things I could do with the base editor and then look at the lack of prestige I have.....shrug.

Maybe there is something I'm not fully understanding about all this. Not like we want a base that can be raidable or anything but it would be nice to have the infirmary and the transporters and just a nice place to call our own.

I think it's a cool idea, just would rather it not be so twisted toward large groups.
  20. Can't add much more to any of this but I do want to say I love being an Energy Blaster. It's great, it's awesome, it's just lovely.

Just one note to the one person who insisted that we are broken, we are not.

To the few who said get PowerPush, your crazy if you don't have it, I don't. I do well without it. I have the Personal Force Field from the Epic Power Pool and it does just dandy. It's great to see the baddies all go flying backwards to land on their [censored] when they get close to me.

Always let the aggro masters take the aggro. I always look over the whole "playing" field BEFORE the fight starts. I always look above, that is where most teams will get defeated is from above (someone mentioned that earlier and I concur) If there is another blaster in the group coordinate your attacks. Nothing worse then both of you wasting your sniper attackes on the same target, especially when you both can one shot them.

KNOW WHEN TO RUN. PERIOD. It's called self preservation and to be a successful Blaster you need to have a full dose of it. Don't turn and try and get one last shot in, just RUN. Wait until their backs are turned and then come and snipe them in da [censored]!

One thing I forgot to comment on, was the conversation on accuracy. It's never a waste to slot in one ACC. NEVER EVER. Even with Build up and Aim, they only last a little while. It's always good to have the extra percentage help. Never can hurt.
  21. I like CoH/CoV. I played Wow. Took one character all the way to lvl 60. Found I hated the end game content with a passion because it was all about loot and loot and loot and it was just aweful. I came back to CoH, played the CoV beta and really don't intend to go back to WoW.

I have not found that ED has cause any extreme problems with any of my characters, I don't love ED but I don't hate it either. It's change. Most of the time people don't like change. So they will use anything they can find to fight the change. Even subscription numbers to cause problems. ED does not prevent you from slotting your powers anyway you want to. I still slot my Nova power on my blaster with 6 DMG. It works fine.

The numbers are just that Numbers. I have no problems finding people to team with on either CoH or CoV. Actually on CoV I get tired of the blind invites all the time. Those of you who said it was very easy to find teams back in I2/I3 must realize you had a lot of people at your level back then, same as CoV does at this time. So you have a lot of people in your Zones. CoH is now more spread out. People have prefered "friends" they like to team with because they know how they play. Pickup groups are not the norm anymore because they are unpredictable.

Jack is right, Blizzard has a great past in creating games. Coh is still a child compared to WoW. Believe me there are plenty of players on Virtue. We are yellow almost every night. CoH/CoV is not dying. I believe that. If you don't want to believe that, your right to. I know what I believe.
  22. I have to at least say this I pre-ordered mine from Gamestop ONLINE and had them SHIP it to me. I got ALL 7 which included GHOST WIDOW. Don't know how I did since all you are having issues with the ones that got sent to the stores. Maybe because mine did not come from a store??? Sorry all of you who did not get her........she really does look slick tho; actually all the clix look cool, even statesman....Manticore is my favorite.

heh ((anyone who doesn't want theirs.......I'll take me off your hands ))

**EDIT**One thing I forgot to mention, what was weird though was that Manticore was set off seperate, in a inlaid section by himself. The other 6 were under everything else. Not sure that matters but thats how it was in the box.
  23. Redeucer,

At what lvl is your blaster at currently, what do you have buildup/aim/nova slotted with? If you can supply this information I think it will be easier for us to help you with your question.
  24. THANK YOU Statesman, for understanding that some of us like to solo and or just don't have the time to build a good team!

    Boss Changes

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
The only changes I've found so far in the Hollows is some graphical changes to the Outcasts, some badges, and the caverns trial now has a level cap. In fact, one of the Hollows cave missions has even been made easier. There used to be a mission with two named bosses fighting in the last room, Greased Lightning and Redrum. Now poor Redrum has gone AWOL and Greased Lightning is forced to fight a lowly Gardvord. Go figure.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ha ha ha ... Rundum, not Redrum.

Did they seriously make that even easier? The last two times I ran that with alts, the minions were all white/yellow, and then poor Rundum and Greased Lightning were green. It was ridiculously easy already.

    STOP NERFING TEH RUNDUM!!!1!!!

    Go Greased Lightning!

    [/ QUOTE ]

What they have changed in the Hollows is an increase to ambushes once you get to Flux. You have to be very careful coming out of his back alley when he asks you to hunt down outcasts or you can be dead in short order.
