  1. It would be interesting to have a special tag for NPC Civilian Reaction as a Rikti...

Like, in Paragon, instead of thanking you, a Civilian would freak out if you rescued them.

Since Rikti would be an EAT, it's fairly simple for them to forgo normal introductory contacts since they'd all be sent to the same place anyway.
  2. Rikti are even mentioned by Percy Shelly during the Origin of Power arc on Science Origin toons as the epitome of the Science Origin.

    So yeah... SCIENCE!
  3. Many many ATs possess abilities replicable by other ATs.

The reason for Epic ATs is not just the combination of powers, it's the story opportunities.

    Also...

    http://paragonwiki.com/w/images//0/0...iahPrelate.jpg

That is the closest thing to a "Naked" Rikti we have. The shoulders are indeed raised slightly...
  4. Yeah, the shoulders are mostly ornamental. I don't even think U'Kon has them.
  5. Yeah...

...You know, a general Rikti Body Type for /every class/ as a reward for getting a Rikti to 50 is a bit much...

So let's see... Taking bits from other posts...

    • The Rikti AT is Unlocked Through a TF, rather than getting to level 50. (In theory, you could allow anyone as low as level 35 to unlock it then, since 35 is the minimum Vanguard Level.)
    • The Rikti Starter Zone is based off this TF.
    • Rikti have their own unique Body Type, as well as special costume pieces. To compensate, a "Ghetto Science Booster" could be given to Rikti at level 10, allowing an auxillary body type.
    • Rikti Power Pool based off Rikti Mobs. (Guardian, Headman, Mesmerist, Soldier, Comm. Officer, Magus, Priest)
    • All Rikti would Science Origin.
    • Rikti Mind Link Inherent
    • Tradtionalist Heroes, Restrucurist Villains
    • It would take a really long time to make.
    But, it's possible! And awesome!
  6. Rikti Epic Archetype (REAT) (Spoilers Within!)

    (Now with Fresh Ideas!)

(WARNING, Written at 3 AM by a sleep deprived college student. May be slightly incoherent...)

The Rikti have always been my favorite part of CoX lore. One of my toons is actually designed to look like a Rikti. (Or rather, something between Lost and Rikti). Now, with the numerous additions to the Rikti Lore, and considering such a huge part they play in the game lore, many people have suggested that a Rikti EAT be released. Now, with GR coming out soon (which may indeed have special Praetorian Ats for it's release), I think it's time to allow for a different sort of “Going Rogue”.

Ladies and Gentlemen, here is my idea for a Rikti EAT

First Things First- The Basic Lore, and the Unlock method.

Rikti are essentially heavily modified Humans. Therefore, it's only feasible to consider a wide chunk of these Rikti to be former primal earth humans. (You can RP it differently, of course. But your character has to either be Human, a Human Sympathizer, or willing to put up with Humans for their own ends at least.)

The REAT itself could be unlocked through a special taskforce offered by Vanguard, in which you allow a large contingent of Rikti to “defect” to humanity, and grant them asylum in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles under the auspices of Vanguard.

The REAT Starter Zone, Which functions similarly to Outbreak and Breakout, though with a somewhat larger (5 – 10?) level range, is the “other side” of this TF. You start out as a fresh Conscript in the Rikti Empire, eventually discover the truth behind the Rikti War, rebel against the Lineage of War and then escape with your fellow defectors.

    The Actual AT-

First things first, A Rikti does not start as a Hero, Villain, or Praetorian. They have their own “special” side.

A Rikti starts out in a special zone in the White Plains as a Conscript. After completing the starter zone, they're placed under Vanguard care, and allowed to go to Paragon, the Rogue Isles, or Praetoria as they wish. They may select to adopt a side in the same manner any Neutral Character would.

All Rikti are of the Science Origin, and are (initially) restricted to the Rikti Body Type, and Rikti Costume Pieces. Like VEATs, they get a bonus costume slot at level 10. However, they also get to choose a single additional “Human” body type, for free, even if they don't have Superbooster Science. (This can be explained as either SCIENCE, A Riktification Cure, or a Hologram or something... Basically it's to keep people from being locked into the Rikti Body Type and the sure to be somewhat limited (at first) costume pieces.)

Like Kheldians, Rikti are also locked out of normal travel pools, though all Rikti can choose between Rikti Portal or Rikti Jump Pack powers.

From the basic Conscript Level, there are two career tracks one can take. The Soldier (Which focuses more on strong armor and attacks, and and relies primarily on Rikti Tech like the Rikti Sword or Rifle), and the Mentalist (which focuses on Rikti Mental powers). Rikti may also have their own EPPs, though this is kind of iffy...
Finally, if you manage to unlock the Rikti AT and get it to level 50, you can have access to the Rikti Body type on any toon you please as a bonus.

    TLR

    • The Rikti Archetype is unlocked through a Special Task Force available at level 50. (Perhaps the Benjamin Decker/ B'Nadek Task Force? He's not doing anything, and he's like the poster boy of Human-Rikti converts)
    • The Rikti Starter Zone is neutral, open only to new Rikti, and ends in the events of the Taskforce performed to unlock the Rikti AT in the first place.
    • All Rikti are Science Origin, and can only use the Rikti Body Type until level 10, when a second costume slot and bonus human body type may be selected. All Future Costume slots offer a choice between Human and Rikti form.
    • All Rikti start as Conscripts, and can become Soldiers (Melee and/or Ranged Attacks, Stronger Armor.) or Mentalists (Weaker Armor, Stronger Support Skills, Ranged Attacks supplemented by minor melee skills.)
    • Rikti begin as “Vanguard Operatives”, and can choose a side in the same manner as a Hero or Villain would normally during the Conversion Process (though perhaps a bit earlier).
    • Getting a Rikti to Level 50 allows for the use of the Rikti Body Type on all of your toons.

    Challenges:

    1. The creation of a Rikti Body Type. The Rikti use animations not dissimilar from those of Humans. However, the actual process of creating a customizable Rikti body type (not to mention redoing the costume pieces to fit on the body type in the first place) Is the most obvious challenge involved here. This is why I suggested the free bonus body type at level 10. It's feasible that the Rikti Body Type would be unable to wear anything but the special Rikti Costume Pieces for a few issues, and even then a full conversion of every costume piece would be impossible.
    1. The Creation of a New AT, which is a fairly complex Coding Procedure, which means that this suggestion would obviously be a multi issue project.
    2. The creation of a Rikti Starter Zone, all of the missions involved within, not to mention the Task Force used to unlock it!
    3. It would obviously require GR's Alignment System to even work.

    The Rewards:

    -Interesting RP Opportunities
-The Ability to expand upon Rikti lore even further. (What is their culture like, for instance?)
-The creation of a fully neutral AT that can be accessed by both Heroes and Villains.
    - The ability to (eventually) create that Rikti Warshade you've always wanted to see (What would that be called anyway? Riktus? Nikti?)

    MGoblin256 on Rikti Power Pools-

That said, I recall reading a user page on Paragon Wiki (Sadly, I've forgotten where it is. If anybody who knows of this page, a link would be greatly appreciated) that had a really good potential set-up for a Rikti AT that worked in a manner vaguely simillar to the VEATs, with multiple power branches that allowed combinations like those that you've listed.

Unlike the VEAT branches though, they were split into several separate pools (not sets), each featuring powers based on the various types of Rikti mobs. These included Soldier (Sword-Gun), Gunman (Arm-Cannon) Mentalist (Psionic Offense), Mesmerist (Psionic Control), Guardian (Force Field/Radiation combo), Priest (Empathy/Kinetics combo), Magus (Various Elemental ranged powers) and Comm. Officer (Pets). You could take powers from up to four (I think) of these pools (This didn't count against regular power pools such as Fitness, Medicine etc, etc)

Again, my memory of the page is sketchy, since I've forgotten where it is. But I remember that much.

    ----

I think it'd be cool if Paragon civvies fled from a Rikti player only until he/she has proven his/her good intentions (say the hero reaches level 15: Fewer civillians will flee from the player, and they will gradually start recognizing them as a genuine hero in Rikti form). Rogue Isles civvies should flee from a Rikti player regardless, seeing as the Restructurist Rikti aren't exactly the friendliest of folks.

Like you, I've no idea how the Praetorian civvies would react to a Rikti roaming about.

Tired Angel on APPs and The Unlock Method-

Ive always thought a REAT would be fun and I like your ideas. My own ideas are quite similar and I have kind of thought of the APP for Rikti could include:
    * Com Officer training - various powers to summon temporary pets such as drones, rikti monkeys and guardian
    * Guardian training - various powers to mimic those of guardian such as a weaker accelerate metabolism, force field bubble etc
    * Magi training - various attacks/debuff powers that mimic the way that some Rikti have learnt how to use magic
    * Advanced soldier training - Upgrades for Rikti that have gone down the warrior path (e.g. auto power to increase resistance etc)
    * Advanced mentalist training - Upgrades for Rikti that have gone down the mentalist path (e.g. a power boost kind of clone to boost powers of holds etc)

The only couple of things I would suggest a change in would be:
    * Make it a story arc to open them up rather than a task force, mainly because there are people who only like to solo.
    * Not a longer tutorial - I mainly say this because people may like to team from the outset and being stuck in a tutorial zone may not be fun for some. I think you could continue the the story through the use of introductory contacts.
But yeah... it's a crazy idea, it would drive BaBs, JLove, and the rest of Paragon Studios utterly insane, and it's totally awesome.

Well, I always assumed the reasoning with those zones was something like Vanguard/The Midnight Squad basically telling everyone "Look, the Rikti/Nictus are going to Take Over The World/Destroy the time stream, and if they win we'll all be SCREWED. So Unless you want to be Riktified/Possessed by a Nictus/Killed, then stop fighting for 5 minutes and HELP US!"

So Heroes and Villains help each other because the world is at stake. Heroes out of heroics, villains out of self preservation (Or if you're like me and my fixation with "Good" Redside toons, Also Heroics).

Here's an idea though... What about a PVP Layer?

There could be two layers for every zone. One that's labeled PVE, and can only be accessed by people of an appropriate faction (So, PVE Cap Au Diable could only be accessed by Villains, Vigilantes, and Rogues),
and a PVP version that is open to anyone, but in which PVP Fighting is allowed, normally neutral NPCs would be hostile if you're of the opposing faction.

Therefore, we'd have a cross factional system that not only made sense, but it also doesn't disrupt normal game flow. ((And of course, there could be PVP Scaling in these layers as well.))
  8. I could understand forgetting like, the wedding pack, or something...

But I remember I have the science pack every time I go to the Pocket D Tailor and the Height/Gender selection window pops up. I mean, it's kind of hard to miss...

Still, buying the same pack twice is a design flaw for sure.

It's representative of the Natural Origin. Cyborg is Tech, Magic and Super Science are self explanatory, so Martial Arts is Natural.

Then we have Mutant, and maybe Incarnate if you really push it...

Then we could just... you know... go through the origins again, but with a different focus? You know... Gadgets for Tech, Aliens for Natural, stuff like that.
  10. For me, the game isn't really about how fast I level. Leveling is nice, but unless there's some sort of content I need to get to RIGHT NOW, I don't spend that much time on it.

Besides, CoX is about more than just getting to level 50. Try Roleplaying. Become a mission architect. Start holding (or participating in) costume contests. Try to get all the accolade powers. Get a bunch of Blasters and try to walk to Peregrine Island. (Or a Bunch of Dominators and try to walk from Kalinda to Lord Recluse, visiting every Arbiter along the way.)

Make a ******** of IOs and start throwing them at people.

Try to do something crazy, like try to get the Portal Jockey badge at level 1. (It's possible!)

    Just... don't focus on levels.
  11. Yes please, even just for halloween.

I know that the events are kind of the point, but, I mean...

I was going accolade hunting yesterday, and I was hunting Family for the Gangbuster Badge. Supernatural Activity Occured, so my group was like "Let's go to sharkhead!"

So we hop an Ouro portal. Literally the second we land, we get zombies.

The only thing that would have been stranger is if Rikti invaded St. Martial. (And I would have actually enjoyed that since they give you an accolade power.)
  12. I think that Doms are a high risk, high reward type AT.

On one hand, if you're careful, and aware of your surroundings, you can avoid most damage quite easily. (At least, so far. I've only just started playing a Dom, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit)

On the other hand... If you're caught by surprise, you're in for a quick trip to the hospital.

But yeah, as long as you pay attention, you shouldn't take too much damage. Though, to be honest, I rarely see Dominators around...
  13. I roleplay, personally. It makes things a bit more interesting, especially if you make a toon that is purposely the opposite moral alignment of it's side. (Though playing things straight red or blue is just as fun)

It encourages socialization, can lead to some awesome stories, and it forces you to look at the game in a new way.
  14. My brute is already sort of a rogue. His backstory is basically what would happen if "The Evil Countess Crey" arc went horribly horribly wrong.

He's not a bad guy, and he does his best to help people in the Rogue Isles, but he's trapped on the wrong side of the pond because, for all extents and purposes, he's been labled a "villain".
  15. /pinatapunch

Every time you defeat an enemy, they explode into candy.
  16. I'm hoping I can get enough for some cool Vanguard stuff from this. I got the Member of Vanguard Badge specifically for this party.
  17. -It's not appropriate to ask if Lord Recluse can spin webs, because he can't.

-When told that Lord Recluse cannot spin webs, it's really not appropriate to ask "What kind of Superpower is having spider legs growing out of your back anyway? I mean, Statesman can shoot lighting. You got the short end of the "Magical Well of Godlike Power" Spidey."

-Corollary- Lord Recluse does not like to be called Spidey.

-One does not hum the "Spiderman" theme anywhere in Grandville.

    -Or "The Itsy Bitsy Spider".

-Especially not the Itsy Bitsy Spider.

-This has nothing to do with any "manhood" issues Lord Recluse may be dealing with.

-When Captain Mako asks you to get back some of his teeth, that doesn't mean "Make a Necklace out of them."

-Hiding a Ghost Trap, Soul Gem, or any sort of spirit trapping device somewhere Ghost Widow may find it is a good way to get your neck snapped by Wretch.

-Upon learning the Wretch's tragic backstory, you may be tempted to give him a comforting hug. The last person to try this is now a Tarantula.
  18. So shiny... As an in game resident of the Etoile Isles (Slogan: "You'll never get a tan on our beaches!"), Praetoria is a refreshing change..
I mean, Paragon City has a realistic city look. It's shiny, but it isn't perfect. The Rogue Isles are like "UBER-DYSTOPIA" everywhere but the nice part of Cap Au Diable and around Golden Giza. But Praetoria is just fancy... I mean, it's also evil. But it's a fancy Evil. Makes Arachnos look like they don't have any class.

Tyrant looks a bit generic without the whole superhero look going.

I mean you look at him and think "This guy rules the world? Seriously? What the hell?"

And then he tosses a truck at you and fries you with lightning for good measure...

I do want to see what the Praetorian Rogue Isles look like. I would not be surprised if it the resistance were based there. I don't think we've seen Praetorian versions of Arachnos's archvillains. I know Praetoria isn't a "mirror" universe persay, but I want to know how they're going to handle that.

    He Returns

    Great Show Last night Attercap!

Shecky should get you drunk more often.
  20. Dr. Aeon, I don't have an arc or anything (At least not one that I've finished. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES! AHHHHHH!!!), but I just had to say this...

If people keep kidnapping you to write papers for the Television, why don't you just write one paper, print out a ton of copies, and just hand one to every villain who comes in?
I mean, wouldn't that make more sense?

Also, wouldn't going into the Arc server record your meta human intelligence so Crey can use the backdoor they put into it to create your clone?

    ...You knew about that right?
  21. NightErrant

    What If...

I had this idea today after thinking about some character backstories. (LOLRP)

One of the most popular filler stories in Comic Books are "What If..." Stories, which serve to answer minor questions such as "What if this hero died during this event" or "What if this person and this person swapped powers"?

This is a concept not alien to CoX right now, particularly with the Portal Corps quests. I also realize that, yes, if I really wanted to, I could go to the MA and make arcs like this, but I just thought this would be interesting.

The idea is functionally the same as an issue of a "What If?" Comic, or perhaps something like Futurama's "Anthology of Interest", in which you are shown (and in this case, have to deal with) what would happen if something went differently. This could be done through Ouroboros, or Portal Corp, or something... No clue. But it would be an interesting series of arcs and taskforces.

    Some examples being...

What Statesman received the Power of Tartarus? (Also, What if Lord Recluse received the power of Zeus?)

What if The Weaver survived Red Widow's assassination attempt?

What if the Alpha and Omega Teams had switched places?

What if the the Freedom Phalnax (and possibly the upper echelons of Arachnos) were Riktified? (Not turned into the Lost. Full on Rikti)

What if Statesman was used in Crey's Revenant Hero Project?

What if the Rikti redirected power to Magic as opposed to Science and Technology?

What if Arachnos took over Paragon City as opposed to the Rogue Isles (This one might be too similar to Praetoria actually...)

And so on, and so forth...

I can't fit all that into an AE Limit. But that would make a very... odd task force, to say the least.
  22. Crey also owns the patent on Hospital Teleporters.

Some build up would be nice, yes... I'd like to see an Arc like "The Evil Countess Crey" serve as a possible "Turning Point" arc in going rogue. (Where your attacks against Crey drop you from Hero to Vigilante, since that's essentially what happens in the arc, for a time.)

  24. They should so have a Rikti AT in Going Rogue. Since the Rikti were duped by the Praetorians or something like that... I forget how it goes...

But yes, I'll figure something out.

    Though: Syntax: Rikti: Needs Practice.
