  1. Laser beam eyes? If ya gonna slot it like that then I wonder why take it. Hurl knocks fliers down, do that move up and use real attacks that won't miss. I prolly wouldn't bother with physical perfection, which might be why ya took lbe, you res end drain really well, you can have good end rec. Your attack chains and toggles just need to be better end redded is all. I would rather lotg sets than red fortunes.

    Where ya differ from me is run speed. I don't bother spending slots on eeking out minute extra feet per sec. I just have 6 slotted taunt thats hastened and grab aggro if I am recovering and/or tp around happily. TP self has 2 end slots because a 13 endpoint use at a time is scandalous.

    I would do things like look at build up and ask myself would I get better if I put them slots in foc acc and take the slots from foc acc and put them in build up? Foc Acc and Tactics? Most people would be one or the other. This for me would require time to check how many different ways I could slot the powers and work out what slotting is priority and preferable.
  3. Look at how many tankers take weave, its good for extra damage mitigation. Flash Arrow is pretty much the same it will offer other players a sort of weave for free. Often its about not pulling the nearby group. Allowing a team to concentrate on one group at a time or not be overwhelmed.

    The are any number of ways to slot a power, it is purely down to what the rest of the build looks like imo as to what the best slotting should be.

    Lightning Field is good dpe versus more than 4 mobs let alone 10, it will reduce mobs end recovery which is good after they've been drained of it. Fury can be gained by getting mobs to attack you, the more the merrier and by you doing this you are doing something which will ensure mobs are tightly bunched, good for someone elses debuffs and good for other peoples AoEs.

    One could play a Brute that basically sees to one target at a time as and when they get to them or be awesome and swim in a sea of mobs taking them all out at once quickly.

    Taunt is good as its autohit but the very use of it for fury will effect your attack chain. Other attacks won't necessarily gauntlet fine or well enough.
  7. Your succumbing to spending a lot for a small bonus rather than seeing a power for what it is and giving it reasonable slotting with good bonuses as a plus. Oppressive gloom is slotted for poor bang for buck. Cloak of Darkness and Weave another example, the slotting in CoD is better in Weave and the slotting in Weave is better in CoD. By moving slots about you can get a better overall build.
  8. I played with ya build for 5 mins to "increase hp". You can soft cap but lucky shots can get thru, you can resist them shots but only attain so much in resistance, the more hp you have the more you have to work with that resistance and sometimes that extra bit of hp leaves you with a fighting chance. So were you constantly perma hoarfrosting for +hp? Chilling embrace is -dam. Knowledge of the AVs attacks comes with experience, sometimes you can tank them for attacks you can handle. Other options are debatable for your idea of play. In teams no one is expected to be an island, some people look good from the support they get and its not fair if others expect perfection from you when they didnt give it. I did an STF earlier as a defender and I wasn't at my best, newish build, new UI layout, long time no see toon and longish nails XD.

  9. I sometimes use mine to double my survivability as well as for the dam increase. It is worth the end cost to me, the rest of the build needs to be able to not suffer from the end cost is all and so I slotted for it.
  10. Back in 2007 liking numbers, I crunched every primary and secondary of the blaster set into excel (did tankies and scrappies prior) even secondary effects got included. The upshot is that each set does something better than another but that's something which nobody needs numbers to tell them that. Different themes and their different flexibilities will suit different people just because fun is subjective. If one doesn't like or get something then its just not for them. I don't get curling. I don't bother trying to change the sport. The only change I'd like to see happen to /Dev apparently can't be done.

  13. I see a side to the game where additional range might help, atleast I'd be safer. Scirroco and his 80ft pbaoe. I could want to buff from outside of that range. Atleast I'd be alright.

    Tanks do it, Brutes do it, even educated Scrappers do it.

    (If you've read entire threads or spent time on the forums and have a flexible definition of Tanking then you should establish that no one anything is needed.)

    Too much rage crashing over time? Sometimes the whole of the build has to be looked at for end drain versus end rec incl attack chains.

    I just tinkered with it for 5 mins. I would suggest tinkering and tinkering as these builds can work out more cheaply. Each +7.5 rechg bonus with that KB +rechg proc shaves .4 secs but in game do you need that much +rechg? Slotting suggestions anyhow, some slots have changed. I think further the big change was in stamina.

  17. Yeah I have one which is for keeps, I also do Ninja/TA. I think Thugs are better with /TA, Ninjas are good with my /Storm MM though.
  18. I've done more than two the same missions one after the other with the TA/DP and the DP/TA at 50. It doesn't make me an expert. I will say that at the time the corrupter was easier solo. Sooner dead the better but Defenders have been changed since (buffed for damage when solo).

    Anyway moving on, different types of defenders require teams to play differently and excel with different player tactics and different team make ups. TA is no exception. The fact that some debuffs are weaker than what other defenders or corrupters is no excuse for failure. All the powers add flexibility and either you and the team can make use of them or you can't. There are guides that are useful but you can further what you learn, meaning that the guides are good enough. A guide that teaches people everything just gives people no reason to play.

    I don't like the way Icicles, Chilling Embrace, Char or Hibernate have been slotted. I see the need to end red rather than rechg Icicles and so Oblits would be in another power. Chilling Embrace only has to get npcs down to slow only so much and base -run speed is too good imo, better to get a +7.5% rechg bonus from 4 basilisks in char than a 3.75% bonus from 5 slots in CE. Hibernate when used has a 2min no phase to it so recharging it less than 2 mins is pretty pointless. Damage type def is what Ice shields offer and so building on that through bonuses is a good option.

  21. One could put figures into excel, and in a very short time workout the best attack chain. I did it ages ago but on another poot poot including the DoT of AV and I pretty much gone with that ever since. Builds will be different and you've got to account for arcana and rechg times of your own build but I'd imagine the differences not to be vast. Easiest thing is to ask in scrapper section cos they seem to be the types who always did theirs and other peoples maths homework. Try BF-AV-NS (Res debuff from NS is good for team mates anyway) just as a guess.

  23. Okay, the OPs build has gone for 9 rechg bonuses of 5% and 7 acc bonuses of 9% what this means is that two IO sets are in excess as you can only have upto 5 attribute bonuses of upto 5%. So really changes would need to be made to optimize the build better. I think the slotting in Blazing Aura could change, I would favour Multistrike.

    Boxing is a poo attack compared to Knock out Blow or Haymaker so I would slot the other powers better and not slot Boxing at all, treat it as a pre req for tough and weave.

    Leaderships are questionable on firetanks. Combat Jump was good with either a LotG and/or a Karma KB IO, nothing more. Melt Armour is good for burst so alright if you have survivability but pricey in end cost and overtime worth less than assault. Vengeance a lotg mule perhaps but 4 Basilisks in Char would give you the same thing and proactive survivability.

    Slotwise Haymaker and Knockout Blow could do with more love. Shields less slots but better quality slots.
