Build help for Fire/SS

Hey guys my Fire/SS tank just hit 47 and I thought I would IO him out as I'm starting to hit 50. I spent an hour or so in Mids trying to think up a build ( I'm kind of a noob when it comes to Mids.) The build below is for recharge and perma-haste and hopefully end my endurance problems when I hit 50 I plan to go the Cardiac Alpha slot to help with end problems I might have had. If the good community of the forums could help that would be great.

Just said the same thing on a previous post. I dont like running leaderships. Why not slot the 6th slots on aura, burn and stomp for the extra defense from oblits? itll give more than manuevers alone. ill try to post my fire/ss brute build if i can figure out how.

This is what i use to farm liberate tv. hover is over slotted. those are on stamina. i just dont have the inherent fitness mids. hover is only 1 slotted with a 7.5% lotg.

With the radial boost, the rech is very nice on burn and stomp. I can hit each twice per mob.

Okay, the OPs build has gone for 9 rechg bonuses of 5% and 7 acc bonuses of 9% what this means is that two IO sets are in excess as you can only have upto 5 attribute bonuses of upto 5%. So really changes would need to be made to optimize the build better. I think the slotting in Blazing Aura could change, I would favour Multistrike.

Boxing is a poo attack compared to Knock out Blow or Haymaker so I would slot the other powers better and not slot Boxing at all, treat it as a pre req for tough and weave.

Leaderships are questionable on firetanks. Combat Jump was good with either a LotG and/or a Karma KB IO, nothing more. Melt Armour is good for burst so alright if you have survivability but pricey in end cost and overtime worth less than assault. Vengeance a lotg mule perhaps but 4 Basilisks in Char would give you the same thing and proactive survivability.

Slotwise Haymaker and Knockout Blow could do with more love. Shields less slots but better quality slots.

Here's what I'm runnin on my old fire/ss. Solos and teams like a champ. I went cardiac for the end reduc and eventual extra resists. He's running 43.9 def to s/l 44.8 to nrg/neg and 30.8 to melee to help with the exotic stuff. He is more than capable of tanking anything I have encountered thus far.

Great build man, the only problem you will run into really is ice and psi at first glance but your kb is only at mag 4 which is a death wish unless your going to be a scrapper. May want to work something out on that. Also some more regen will help, you can probably get past 240 easy.

Of course this is first glance so I have not tried anything, I normally don't go so heavy on the defense for a fire. maybe even slotting kb at 8 is okay because we have SS with it's knockbacks to keep you up long enough to heal. I think it would end up hurting you in the long run though.

I seldom get kbed, that attack has to connect before it can move you.
There are a very few foes I have to watch, carnie illusionists are one they have a high psi dmg mez that is not vector tagged, no defenses or resists to that so it all hits. Let more than 3 or 4 of them beat on me and I will eventually go down. Of course in those rare cases I just rotp and beat them down.
On a 50 death/debt is not a deal breaker.
RE: regen. I went that route on my first IO build for this tank. It helped but no where near as effectively as soft cap level defenses.
For me the mitigation is Death>Juggling>Defense>Resist>Heal>Regen>RotP
By the time I am leaning on regen the situation is so bad its not really going to make a difference anyhow.

Ah very nice. Glad to hear it works for you The regen was a curious one for me but I can see that the defenses are helping you more. I tend to lean towards regen over defenses as long as I have solid defenses because I know that fire has no defense debuff protection but the beauty of this game is how skill based and unique we can be. Our play styles can be very different. Keep doing what you are doing as long as it is working

Well said.
I've had three totally different and very effective IO builds on this tank during his career.
Including one that was "wrong",+dmg/rech with medicine pool for dual heals.
All three worked great with minor playstyle alterations. It would not surprise me to learn that there was another three great builds foci I overlooked.
The huge amount of variety is one of the things that has kept me playing so long.
