  1. Soliciting feedback for this.

    Basically:

Teams list rosters in seperate thread
    8 Core, draft 3-4 more.
Best out of 3, Home pick Map 1, Visitor pick Map 2, Random Map 3.

    Alpha slot only.
Maps: All in except Monkey Cage, Office.

    Powers:

This is where it gets a little dicey. I asked four or five people whom I consider fairly reasonably (Masque, Pixel, PF, Artic and Katalyst) about this and the responses were pretty varied.

Basically, asked whether TK, Stalagmites or Soul Storm were problematic.

About half wanted no TK. Masque suggested just getting rid of all of them so you could just go by normal skill/evade/etc...and it seems a lot just want to roll with whatever, but limit on Tauntbots (1 per team) and Stalkers (2-3 per team).

I'd like team captains (figure out who you are) to discuss this because once the league starts, I don't want to hear:

"OMG YOU USED PINK BLAST BAN BAN BAN!!!!!!"

My only objective here is to keep the remaining 8 v 8ers busy and happy with a ladder.
Prize-wise, not much I can do personally...but I can ask Z if we can get gold titles like U2BG got, or maybe even costume codes or other swag.

Season long enough to have two matches against each team.
Playoffs? This might not even be feasible if we have only 3-4 teams.
Trades fine, but maybe cap trades to first few weeks so you don't have a team dropping then everyone else absorbing them.
Playing people...should be up to captains, but would be nice if everyone got to play if they are good enough to play.

    Thoughts...?

Now if the U Trial is able to be speed (which from what I've seen and read so far, there are already strategies that could make it speedable) then that's a different story.

If I had my way Keyes would give 2 Emps, and the U Trial would give 4.
I don't mind Keyes (It's annoying, but so is farming hundreds of mobs for hit point Accos) but there's no reason to do it with BAF and Lambda being on "zombie mode", where we can basically roll our faces over the keyboard and succeed. I'll probably try the Underground Trial. If it's fun (IE I don't get instakilled, instaheld, have to do repetitive actions involving carrying an NPC around) I'll do it more often...

As for farming, it's been around since Day 1 and the Devs haven't killed it yet. Heck, in some cases (PvP IOs, Purples), you either have to play the Market to get them or farm player characters over and over or mobs over and over to get a drop. Or just accumulate enough Empyrean Merits or Alignment Merits, as a result of farming tips and trials...

    Not only that but...

You won't have recovery bonuses from IOs, so Therms might get nasty.
You probably won't be near the hit point cap, so 1200 hit point squishies are going to make for some nasty matches.
Unscrupulous players could still "cheat" by slotting a single IO in some powers to boost performance.
Recharge on powers might be sluggish in making attack chains.

That said, I'll be glad to help out if it gets going.
  4. Double XP is tomorrow and there are show-stoppers concerning Account connections to I21 valdiations, so I'd say no...

Anecdotally, 35-39 Silver rolls have been doing great for me.
Pulling 5,000,000 - 40,000,000 per roll out there excluding the really crappy stuff. Been doing much better than the Bronze rolls of late.

    Wrong.

Ex Libris herself said there were 10% + of player base pop at its peak.
Test had several dozen people doing matches on any night, if not more.
In between issues 5 and 9, you easily had 20 teams (counting both sides) of 10-20 people each in the various ladders and that's not even counting zone play.

Next time you're going to be incorrect, please do so without a wall of text.
  9. KB powers would be hilarious out there, but of course PvPers would be slotted against them. Pinball games with new entrants would be great though. Have one team on a geyser, other team on second and chain Force Bolt people around the shard.

Don't think the Devs will go for this, maybe a Shard arena map though. :P
  10. Fantastic news!

Would love to know how we access the Paragon Market interface, however.
Is there a store ingame or a slash command? Howz it all work?

    Thank u kind citizen
1 v 1 ladder will likely have a seeding tournament then all participants will have a set ranking (0 or whatever) and gain/lose points according to an ELO K value system. For example, if you're #1 and #8 beats you they would gain K=8 (let's say) but ideally if you beat the #8 seed you wouldn't gain as much, maybe 2-3 points. We'll see.

3 v 3 ladder might have one or two AT restrictions (so people don't bring all therms, for example) but that's about it.

Also, lft for the 3 v3 ladder (you can have 5 people registered on your team).
  13. Tired of the team grind? Want something a little different?
Check out the Lethal Lottery! All participants will be paired with a random partner. At the end of four rounds, the top four scoring players will be randomly paired in a 2 v 2 best of three.

Second place: 75 mil each + remaining prize

Nota: For my own sanity in making pairings and assigning partners, this event will cap at 16 participants. First come first served for registration.

Note: Must play at least two rounds to obtain a prize, no joining and quitting to get your prizes.

  14. Yeah, It's annoying.

I got the completion badge and I'm done with it, just running BAFs for Astrals and alternating with Lambda for Empyrean.

Keyes is unfun, not doing it again unless I'm assisting with badges.

Clearly we have failed then, for PvP is all about the griefing, drama and rage.

    It was fun.
Thanks to everyone on Elefants, Smallz as captain, R-Tech, Bambi, Hemm, Ska-Core, Lin, Nugget and everyone else that got in when they melded teams. It was awesome being on a team with quick locks and pressure.

Thanks also to DE, we struggled a bit toward the end and but it was fun.
Nice going to MP on Rad, Just on Emp and EE and Arky as well as our Blaster crew.

Thanks to Masque for hosting despite a lot of arguments and side-tracking.
Thanks to Arky for generous use of Vent.

Big thanks to Zwillinger, Glue Arrow fl yo. Thanks for the prize support too.

Wish I could have helped more, not a lot of questions though so I guess the mentors did their jobs.

Hopefully see some of you in the 3 v 3 ladder or the 1 v1 duel ladder.

Just look at all the players here with 2004 and 2005 registration dates - NCSoft has been getting 6-7 years of subs from them instead of getting 2 years up front, and then having to support what would basically be free playing VIPs for the other 4-5 years.

    Best thing you've ever said.

I've been paying for 7 years on one account and two years on another account, gladly as well. If I hadn't kept my subs "active" through these payments I doubt I would have any interest in the game. To me, constant financial infusions into something keep my interest in ints development and activity levels.

This happens already with purples, PvPIOs, accos etc...there are always going to be some that can either grind out the loot, play the market for the loot or buy the loot from RMT.

You are a vigilante whether you are a hero or villain, there are no real-world consequences for anything you do.

I play blueside more because I can run all the Phalanx TFs and get over a hundred Merits, while Redside gives me bare bones, which is why I switched my new Controller to redside for Patron powers but am PLing to 41 so I don't have o go

    2. All original villain ATs came pre-nerfed out of the box, the the gimmicky inherrents tacked on to make the pre-nerf not seem so bad. The worst of this was dominators but alot has been done to fix that issue. Right now the biggest issue is stalkers which the devs for some reason will not recognize at this point as needing the most help in the game right now. For some retarded reason they think stalkers have aggro issues but the issue is damage.

    5. The lack of additional content to get parity in this game. There are almost twice as many hero tfs than there are villain sfs. That needs to be corrected. Fill in every where there is a level range for the. Basically what needs to happen from here on out until parity is reached is add 2 to 3 villain sfs for ever 1 hero TF they add. Also new villain zones like the hollows, striga and dare I say it the shadow shard. And for the love of gawd stop making so many tfs where villains have to be side kick to the heroes. In only a few comics you would have heroes and villains working together like this, realistically the villains would do their own thing to stop whatever force that is intruding on their territory instead of playing sidekick to the heroes. Just for once make a SF where the heroes are actually the sidekick of the villains where they are having to choose the lesser of two evils instead of the villains doing something for the greater good.

    .
Agreed. You can literally make one villain and see all the good content on the first go through; few mayhems, some contacts and all the SFs and then...you're done, so you make heroes and join your friends, not because it's heroic but because you want to play with other people.

Redside has some great stuff, but just not enough zones and contacts to make it desierable for repeat play.

Community. The CoH Community is outstanding. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and warm are a few of the words I regularly use when describing our Community to people who are new to the game. Rarely can you point to the Community of an MMO as a selling point, however in the case of CoH, it really is.

Sometimes, when I'm on my personal account, I forget that the folks I chat with on a daily basis here on the forums don't know who I am in global channels. The people you play with in CoH put you that much at ease .
Z, go get more flashy costumes, they're neat.
Also Glue Arrow more, not being glued against a TA is

If I had to sell someone on the game, I'd say it has a lot of customization for your characters, lots of flashy powers and even though gameplay gets repetitive, you can find mini-games like inventions, pvp, the market, role-play, etc.

    No thank you.

When I get advances ingame I politely rebuff them.
If they insist I report them for harrassment and /gignore.

I can chat ingame with my female friends if I'd like to...or with all my friends. My current best friend from the game is male and we chat offline all the time.

I get where you are going with the gym analogy, but unless someone tracks us through slips of information/IP/address snooping, which is far beyond the scope of NC Soft's moderation, we still control our own environments.

Also, not to take this TOO far afield but I developped friendships with a number of gay women over the past 10 years (they shared an interest with me so we arranged irl meetings in a safeish zone around the theme, in Baltimore Comic Con years ago) and the overriding theme around us was that we welcomed males but made it abundantly clear that advances were unwelcome - either from disinterest or safety standpoints. As Philly expounded, harassment is quite possible and likely from a same sex enclave and is equally as uncomfortable.

There are female only channels ingame. I know Gender Poison on Champion Server used to run one (still does?) and had character meetings too. I thought it was great but had too many channels already and didn't keep up with that group for a while.

Also, Golden Girl, I've vacillated a while in between putting you on ignore or not but you aren't helping yourself with comments in this thread.

P.S. Sinister Dirge is eminently correct in his comment about "check outs".
