If you needed to pay Paragon Points for SOs, TOs, stuff like that...would be very, very hard to accept.

Brickstown:
Why?
It has a huge freaking prison in the middle of it that contains HUNDREDS of super-powered beings and it's nothing more than a morass of Crey, Council and Freakshow. Meh.
How I'd Fix it:
1)Replace Freakshow with a PPD presence:
Remove all the Freakshow spawn and replace them with PPD. Have flying (Peacebringer) PPD around the Ziggurat, engaging escaping prisoners. Have non-affectable PPD and Prisoners fighting each other.
2)Lower Council presence considerably:
The Council are EVERYWHERE. Seriously. From level 10-50 you see them in almost every zone. We get that they are an omnipresent faceless evil-evil group but it's time for a little change. Have them be around The Abyss Towers or something, but start phasing them out.
3)Put Crey mostly around Crey's Folly and the southern part of the zone:
Since this is the zone that is nominally controlled by Crey, keep them there but closer to the center of the zone. Their levels can stay 30-35 to keep them consistent with the costume mission and Manticore's Task Force (getting to that), but add a few Paragon Protectors and Paragon Protector Elite doing propaganda toward citizens (think of Nerva).
4)Rework Manticore's Task Force:
Kind of meld the new zone look with the old TF objective:
1)Prevent Zig Escape!
Enter the Ziggurat and stop prisoners from escaping. Perhaps a small Crey presence is there trying to get them out for testing (remember the Reveant Hero Project?) or something else.
2)Investigate Crey presence in Brickstown.
Small hunt, gives you clue to next mission.
3)Rescue PPD officers, retrieve files.
You find out that Crey has been sending converted prisoners into PPD HQ to steal files on their Ascended troops. Wouldn't want Crey to to get that much more powerful so...
4)Face off against Hopkins or a Paragon Protector X2Z:
Lose Hopkins completely; move him to the Countess Crey arc instead.
Final boss is a Paragon Protector that sends a wave or two of prisoners after you (Phase 1) then converted PPD (phase 2) before fighting you himself. The PP uses "dirty tricks" to make this fight tougher (room suddenly goes dark, or slow patches on floor, etc.).
20 Reward Merits instead of 30-odd.

Thanks everyone for joining in. There were certainly some speedbumps (lack of a marker at Portal Parter for examlple), but overall it was a very fun event.
ITF Death Race tonight! -
Prize breakdown posting in a moment.

Just wait until you see Kidneytic Malaise, boy are you in for a sharp joilt of pain to your Paragon Points...
-
Just tearing through stuff at level 19...can't wait to get Sky Splitter and Serpent's reach. Heck, only Eye of the Storm is slotted (albeit with Scrapper IOs) and I'm still mushing enemeies to bits.
It's not Fire Melee or Street Justice or Shield Charge or...but it does what's needed and that's turning pixelated forums into gruel. -
Quote:Yeah Singys don't use the same holds as player characters. TK is broken but you can get out of it by using your first few attacks as a Blsater (Defiance) or by attaking the TKer or using the Pain Domination Clear Mind, which has a damage controller.Exactly. I fought a friend of mine's Gravity Controller with my Scrapper. I turned on Elude and his Singularity auto-hit perma-held me through all my defences and essentially defeated me without the player's help, pretty much. I fought another match in Anto-Cat's events where I got tagged with someone's Telekinesis and I spent three quarters of the match shoved into a corner in the woods doing nothing. Anti-Cat was the only Blaster, and consistently the only one dead most of the time because he'd get held at range, dropped from the sky and killed easily since the guy had no status protection.
The last thing I want out of PvP is be the NPC to some player's personal enjoyment.
But yeah, pre I-13 with some tweaks please. -
Quote:Yeah, we know about that but this is re-wrting history. To explain:
They removed Statesman from the game i23. The mission to rescue him from the Praetorians used to give you the "Statesman's Pal" badge.
They changed both the mission and the badge to refer to Positron, even if you already had the badge.
Which, frankly I think is BS because there's no reason the mission couldn't have taken place at a point in time before Statesman died, or couldn't have kept existing as a Flashback with the changed arc granting a new badge.
.
My bubbler and other characters rescued Statemsn. Statesman is a part of this game's bacground lore, from the first Rikti invasion to his demise at the hands of Darrin Wade. Changing this smacks of hubris. I would rather they remove Positron's Pal from my badgelist rather than changing it. Or let us get Statesman's Pal from Ouro and we can get the new one.
Really dislike this change. A lot. -

Also made a Staff/SR and loving it so far, though only 18.
Nice set, probably not overpowered though. -
Quote:Late night would work with me since I have the Olympics stuff going on from 9-11 pm (more or less) Mon-Friday on Champion. Monday/Thursday/Friday should be done rather quickly though.QQQQQQUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE????????????? ????????????
It is time for some Aunt Flow revenge, oh wait... different game.
The Quarter Pounders would be willing to challenge dUMB P.M.S for next weeksies, maybe. Apparently we may only be able to do anything not on Tues/Weds, before 5 pm central or after 11 pm central. Or something like that. James has bedtimes and Jester gets hammered on Tues/Weds. -
Heh. About this
Quote:
New Mez rules- I like them. 2-4 seconds is plently long enough to help a stalker get off an AS, or for a melee toon to hustle its <pancake> rearend over to the target to hit it. Honestly, anyone who thinks controllers and doms are not viable in pvp, hasn't really been PvPing. ATs are more than just their primary and saying /posion doesn't mean a controller is viable is fooling themself. Thats like saying in PvP tanks fight by spaming taunt and hoping their chance for psi damage proc kills something.
DR-Im on the fence- I get that it was suppose to help lower the bar for players to try PvP. I just don't think it worked.
Inherent resists- not a fan, but I get why they were put in place. As much as people wanted to kill other targets, they also didn't want to die *that* fast on their squishy characters. I'm just not a fan.
DR is ok...hits Defense kinda hard but Heal Decay is bleh.
Resists are meh. Beats carrying a tray of Oranges and a few Break Free into matches I guess, but the dual build feature would allow us to get Psi Shield, Fire Shield and so on.
Mixed bag at best and duel Sepultura already so they can challenge us in the Level 5 Ladder :P -
Quote:Yeah, we had two full ladders going...VORI gone, Ajax and them gone, pretty much everyone on my teams gone...Vinnie and some of them are around and dUmb kinda stuck around through I13 and the last PvP D6/D8 ladder or whatever...but Arena PvP took a huge hit with I13, there just isn't denying that unfortunately.
I just think the mass exodus of PvPers post I13 that everyone believes happened sort of happened but not to the extent that everyone thinks. As I said before, this games population has decreased that along with free transfers lead to most PvP zones being ghost towns (but look at the hollows on most servers, its pretty much tumble weeds there as well). If the zones are empty and someone ISNT willing to transfer off their home server, then pretty much they will have zero chances of PvPing (in zone) so they eventually either quit or find another aspect of the game that they enjoy.

Even the LEvel 5 ladder lost 2-3 teams. That's cool though because it's the msot fun I've had in an Arena setting since the first Freedom PvPL.
Zones are KINDA fun but again, too much base camping for me to stay there for more than a few minutes, even with droing base campers...that's fun for about 20 minutes or so.
But that's cool, PvP in that other game has people complaining about healers, OP classes, etc. etc. It's part of the PvP experience I guess. Had a ton of fun playing L4D lately, but mostly because I can shoot my partner in the head/back when they are getting too lippy hehehehe. >.> -
When X-Funk was still around he'd break up PvP farms on Pinnacle...one time he TP Foed a victim to all the Explore Badges in Warburg before finishing him, ending with a message like: "You're welcome for the badges, from Nites of Darkness!"
Classic stuff.
Then there was the time some people on Champion went under the Hive's map during a Hami raid and Snow Storm pulled GMs into the bowl, or the other time they just attacked Hami from under the map, thankfully enough of us rushed in to get our hit in.
Awesome stuff. -

Quote:Heh.Because I'm pretty sure that they do not have the sirens running 24/7. I mean, I'm not positive, and I'm not an expert...
Yeah, there is one down on Elgin Street next to some eateries I used to frequent. Basically you enter to see a front desk and some doors. You *SO* cannot just walk into the holding cells and so on.
-
Z had it coming, I remember him having five power pools on his old Grav/TA, just keep farming him plox.
-
Good points.
It was pretty jarring back then to take your favorite alt to Siren's then get TP Stalked, but got over it pretty quickly. The most annoying thing has been having to relearn EVERYTHING with all the new stuff like DR, damage per activation, etc. etc. It's just not as fun anymore...I used to PvP on Test for hours and hours. Statesman's Watch then Integrity then otehr groups just practicing and then doing matches on Thursday and Sundays...yeah for sure most people were tons better but it was competitive around the middle. Now it's just...meh.
I can hardly bring myself to do team arena anymore. Level 4 stuff is fun because you just damage spam and respawn. Zones are awful with travel suppression and heal decay. It wasn't like you couldn't kill healers before if you spiked them, and you could even cage them too in the day.
One thing I will give them credit for is they fixed Arena crashes, we got selectable maps and we got PvP IOs too...that's all good stuff. PvPEC did some nice work too with the various ladders and server events but it just got tiring after awhile...too much arguing and not enough fighting. -
Because I don't know anything about the missions or their challenges before I enter them. Some of the Dev's Choice arcs are littered with Elite Bosses, others are quite fun. There is also too much crap to sift through and some great arcs go unplayed.
Mostly use it to get a few levels these days and leave it alone for the most part. -
Quote:The system is broken.I saw another thread about Zwil, and this made me wonder a bit as to why it is I never set foot into a PVP zone. Through word of mouth I hear only 5% of players ever go there. I can count myself as part of the 95% who don't, but I am starting to wonder what it is that makes me part of that 95%. I have very little experience in the matter, but nothing quite so concrete to make me shy away from PVP in the game...
Now, I can go and make some 3 page report on my thoughts as to why it is I never go slugging it out with someone else in the game, but who wants to read that? So, for now while I collect my thoughts I come to the players to ask why it is you don't PVP yourself.
It's damage spam + procs + more procs + damage.
Holds aren't remedied by Clear Mind or Clarity or stuff like that.
Need stupid amounts of KB protect (41.5+)
Team PvP is not bad but still not a lot of room for old favourites like Storms, Sonics...
Zones are garbage with travel suppression and Heal Decay.
PvP IOs need to be farmed or bought in PvE instead of getting them through normal PvP play. -
Harry Foxbottom aka Quick Brown Fox, is rampaging across Infinity server redside! Great fun, this powerset.

Quote:Yeah it is...over the top, but I can get it.The amount of whine and rage surrounding Staff Fighting is absolutely hilarious.
People have been wanting to swing sticks around FOREVER. That doesn't justify the millions of threads or in-thread derailments (guilty as charged on the last) but the anticpation plus the preview on test just sent people overboard. Lesson learned on all our parts, in that the Devs will likely be more cautious in seeding test and we'll be more patient in the future.
(I am STILL going to get Staff on both accounts pronto on Tuesday, no doubt about that. I wants my sticky-sticks of doom-doom!)
