    Erm, what?

    Mind Control is absolutely over the top heinously broken on Dominators (I've recently duoed Lord Recluse's Strike Force, Master Tin Mage, Lady Grey Task Force and Imperious Task Force with my Mind/Fire and friend's Mind/Psi), Mass Confusion is probably one of the best Tier 9s on Controllers out there. Instant aggro release, softening up of mobs AND you can follow up to avoid XP loss. TK is great in Minds of Mayhem, the AoE Sleep is fantastic as another soft aggro relief tool, Levitate is a nice damage tool, Dominate good...there is not a lot wrong with this set and call me crazy, but my Mind/Cold crushes most content and both her and my Mind/Bubbles make Master runs trivial. On Dominators it gets even sillier.

    Buff/Examine:

    Stone Armor - It's a relic now with Willpower around
    Force Fields - Add that Ablative HP mechanic to the shields
    Ice Melee - This set could be...better. Replace the aoe Sleep with something else at the very least.

    Be wary of buffing:

    Regeneration: Again, it's a fine set. One of its pluses is its reliance on the player actually being awake instead of facerolling across a keyboard. It's quite powerful with Invention Origins and decent to good without. Remember that players can and do dip into power pools...

    Trick Arrow: Has a great array of tools. -Regen might be the biggest hole (in EMP Arrow iirc though), maybe make the debuff durations a bit longer.

    I think someone on Liberty mentioned they did it in 3 hours...but maybe what Neuronia said is true...can get it down to 2 if you know what's what....*shrugs*
    Yeah, it involves running it with 4-6 people instead of 8.
    One person stays at Quaterfield and clicks missions.
    Rest of team needs Assemble the Team or Incandescence (not sure if that's available at Dr. Q) and you basically just blitz everything.

    With the lower team size you get less mobs which means less kills...I'd still not do it again now that my badgers have it completed.
  3. First powerset I thought about with the tough and long-lasting is Regeneration. Staff would fit the knowledge base since it has "forms".
    I'd elaborate more but your posts need a proper frame of mine (no offense), reach me in game though if you would like.
  4. 111 Merits in an hour and a half to two hours if you play your cards right.
    I can see it getting run every now and then.
  5. IOs and Incarnates killed a lot of the challenge/goal-achievement.

    I remember a friend of mine would PL on the Ninja map in PI on his SOd Kat/SR, set to Invincible. Then when IOs came out he soloed STF up to the last mission of a Master run. Now everyone and their aunt has defense cap, bloatrous damage, a nuke and pets.

    The only things left are to solo trials...they honestly should look at how easy it is to defense cap, but I'm not sure they are ready for the pitchforks and torches that would assail Paragon Studious if the went into that particular corner of the game world.

    Hopefully the Battallion don't suck and fall over like most of the other content in the game so far.

Until Black Swan shows up serendipitously (is that a word?) that is, and you realize the same weakness used to take down Diabolique can work here as well.
    Did this on Champion, took us maybe 8-10 minutes tops to drop him:

    Pound on Tyrant.
    Spam "Lightning, jump away!"
    Use Ultimate Inspirations, Lore Pets and Hybrid at the 25-30% Health mark.

    When the odds are stacked against you, the resources the game provides make it a fair notch easier.
  7. We are winnarz.

    We did a practice run and couldn't nudge him down without pets so out came Lore during the real thing and, combined with Ultimates, Tyrant went down like a sack of potatoes.

    Thanks for the Team Insps as well. Woooooooooooo.

    Cool.
    So my 31 Elec/Thorns Dom did this mission absolutely unknowing what it entailed. The Elec Confuse does NOT hit an entire mob at once, it jumps from one to another. So I can throw my two second animating single-target hold on a sword...or throw down the sleep patch that takes another few seconds and hope that sticks. But I'm being hit by Sleet, Time debuffs and all sorts of other obnoxious effects and hey...I'm not PermaDomed so I can hit my Fury and get Dom up...once. Then I get to attack with my Thorns...except Impale has the speed of a baseball pitcher and the other two are decent enough but still nowhere near Thorn Barrage (which I don't have yet).

    So I can use inspirations. Fantastic! If only you resurrected in an area with an inspiration vendor. Instead you resurrect outside the Midnight Mansion and the spawns follow you, so you need to kite them and then you end up in a hedge maze where more Animus Arcana await. And that's just the first wave. And then you face off against an EB. And then seven waves of Talons. And MORE EBs.

    Oh, but they give you "allies". They are as useful as free parking to a pedestrian, but they are there...for twenty-five point three seconds while the axes chop them to bits. Zombie Montague sure was helpful too, guess he doesn't come back from the dead like most zombies.

    Yeah...lrn2play ends up being "Autocomplete this annoying mission that was probably made by Dr. Aeon, Positron and Zwillinger hopped up on Tahiti Treat and pig roast after they've played Diablo 3 Beta on Hell Mode."

    Mmmmhmmm...

    As long as people continue to ignore the actual complaints made by the people complaining in these threads and instead chastise them for complaints no-one ever made, then I will continue to dismiss "learn to play" arguments out of hand.
    Sam is by FAR my favourite poster and meeting him today to design his powers reminded me of why. Anyone that intricate about power choices and able to retort so well is invaluable.

    Now let him onto the Blaster feedback so we can all be entertained.

  9. Can be really OP in some combinations (Bots/Dark, Bots/FF, Thugs/Poison. Demon/All sorts of stuff) and meh in others (Mercs/). Can be vulnerable to massive AoEs and so on, haven't seen a lot of them on trials lately.

    Good AT, needs a lot of legwork to manage.
  10. I've spent more and more time logged out since I don't want all my characters to unlock every Incarnate slot, grind for salvage and then wait until the next Incarnate slot occurs.

    My most recent fun has been duoing stuff like LRSF, LGTF, ITF and so on with a longtime friend. Right amount of challenge and right amount of power level without all the frustration of bad drops at the end.

    Agree.

    That last fight defending the Midnight Mansion was super long and super lame. The few zombies they gave to help out were laughably ineffective and died as if made of tissue paper. Too many ambuses, too many EBs, too many ways to lose interest.

    Pretty sad as most of the other arcs were pretty good.

    Echoing DumpleBerry.

    I PL or get PLd to 50, solo/duo TFs and when I can't do that I team for TFs or trials. I'll genuinely help anyone that needs it but I prefer my own pace so I don't skip Invader requirments and so on.

    The first two aren't exactly fair to someone who -only- has Incan because they'll be up against people with Rebirth. The last isn't exactly as fun, since Judgement/Destiny/Interface can make things a lot more interesting without anything being broken.

    What exactly is the norm now?
    Leagues used Alpha only, no Interface procs no Judgement no Lore Pets no Destiny.

    There probably won't be any leagues for the foreseeable future though so whatever you want to roll with should work as long as everyone Incarnates/IOs their toons out appropriately.

    Have you considered skipping Judgement altogether (except as a prerequesite for the next tier) and dipping into a power pool? You can use Kick or Punch from the "Weave Pool" or an Intimidate power from Presence or so on. Those might not break concept but still be useful...
  16. I would go for Vorpal Radial.
    It adds a +DEF bonus for a short period (hard to kill), it's player-based (Trolls hit in melee) and does a nice amount of damage (they all do).

    Yeah not seeing a bundle anywhere...as much as I want this set I am not spending points on the items individually.
  18. Universlaly go for Energy Manip:

    Boost Range - very handy in target selection.
    Conserve Power - always useful for that little "breathing room".
    Power Boost - Useful for the boost to stuns in EM and can help primary.
    Bone Smasher - Fast-animating, hits for decent damage.

    Generally take highest damage/highest range attacks and slot with 2-3 damage, some accuracy and some end redux/recharge.
    Snipes can be taken or left on shelf...if I'm power-hungry I leave them.

    Like taking Stealth on all my builds and PFF in the epic for a panic button.

    IOwise I always build to hit HP cap (1606), for +Damage and +Recovery.
    Like to add as much +Range as I can too, from PvP IOs or wherever I can find it.

    Think my Fire/MM Blaster has close to 35% global damage.
    Generally subscribe to the "Best defense is a good offense, but buy shares in Personal Force Field if that doesn't work out" philosophy.
  19. In the clan of "Blaters are fine" here, but if I had a wishlist:

    1)Give them the highest damage mods. If a melee class like Scrappers has a higher damage mod then even Blasters with that but the "Kings of Damage" should be Kings and not knaves;
    2)Some small mez protection but extremely leery of this as then Defenders, Corruptors, Kheldians, Controllers, non-Dominating Dominators will want same. This should definitely be tied to attacking and should last a very short period;
    3)More damage vs. boss/AV/Hero/Monster/Giant Monster class enemies. Since damage is all they have then might as well make them useful.

    Fulmens' idea is pretty nice too.
    Can't wait to see the changes, dread being the Dev stepping into this potential minefield.

    Yeah that was easily the most tedious/unfun mission in Night Ward:

    Seven waves of Animus Arcana
    Ward
    Seven waves of Talons
    EBs

    Hmmm...yep, looks like an auto-complete target for me next time.
    Rest of Night Ward is great though.

    Not to mention she shows a callous disregard for authority or anyone outside her little playcircle.

    Yes yes, Presidential/Politician jokes notwithstanding this would be a terrible, terrible idea.
  23. At the moment there are a handful of PvPers left, maybe 30-50 max.
    Sentry4 is hosting a nice school/learning enclave called PvP Redux (global channel) and you can head there for stuff. They do RV Thursdays at 8 PM eastern and other stuff Firdays and Saturdays at same time.

    Freedom still has some kickballs and so on.

    Here's the thing though, if you are going to invest time in PvP here are your roadblocks:

    1)You need capped hit points on a squishy (1605) so you need to run all the Phalanx TFs for Task Force Commander, then kill a bunch of mobs for Freedom Phalaanx Reserve then do more content for Portal Jockey. Some of these badges are easier redside;
    2)You need to get invention origins; you'll need 42 poiints of knockback protection in zone, you'll want procs and recharge boosts. More time spent PvEing;
    3)You'll want all your Incarnate abilities. More procs, more heals, more pets, more broken stuff.

    So you grind all this, hours upon hours and...maybe 10-20 people in RV. The rest of the server is busy doing trials or RPing or PvEing or designing new costumes. Maybe a league forms up and you get five or six teams and have some fun for a few weeks. Maybe you find a friend that PvPs and you shoot the crap with them.

    PvP is in a coma right now. There are vital signs but the more IOs they add and the more incarnates they add the steeper the climb is for a few player. That's not even mentioning the drastic rule difference between PvE and PvP environments. Are there some goals in zones? Sure. You can get a nuke in Warburg, but someone might gank you and get your codes and you have to start over...same in Bloody Bay for Shivans. So it's actually not even worth going for those rewards on populated servers.

    TLDR: You have to do tons of PvE work (easily dozens of hours) to get up to par and then you get to fight a handful of people for a half hour or so.
    Try it and see if you like it but...

    Nothing really redeems the Justin Augustine TF for me, but at least it's not hours long.
    Ive seen teams knock off Dr.Q in an hour and a half or less.

    Keys to success:

    1)No full team, drop to four or five people to reduce spawns;
    2)One person parks at Dr. Q to click missions;
    3)Assemble the Team on every team member;
    4)Pack enough AoEs to obliterate most missions and ghost the rest.

    Most of the time though it's a massive slog and I certainly won't run it again.
    Have done all the Shard TFs they are fairly meh...Faathim's is probably the most interesting.
