  1. Cynic in me: Wow, that only took like 4 years

    MM in me: YAAAY!
  2. I ported my Scrapper build to a Brute build and came up with a pretty nice setup. All those extra HP will help power Siphon Life and really extend your immortality line. Less damage overall, especially in the AoE department thanks to losing Fireball, but big gains in survivability. You'll still be a superstar against anything that isn't Psi.

  3. So my Elec/Fire was a resounding success. The goal, unmatched burst AoE damage, seems fulfilled. My next idea was the scrapper that can't die.

I know this particular combo has been discussed before, so it may be old news by now, but the build I'm talking about is DM/Invuln. I've never made a DM or an Invuln past the 20s before. Maybe it's because I never paired them. This combo looks utterly amazing on paper and it's a little different than what I'm used to playing.

I usually go for the high damage AoE monster Scrappers. DM doesn't exactly put out a great deal of AoE. Maybe the change will be good for me.

    I'm looking at...

-S/L/E/NE/F/C soft-cap with fully saturated Invinc. S/L capped at 2 enemies, E/NE just about capped at 3 enemies.
-Capped HP thanks to the Accolades
    -Perma Dull Pain
    -Near perma Soul Drain
    -Near perma Hasten
    -Great ST damage chain
-330hp heal (if I'm doing my math right :/) every 3 seconds, which just so happens to also be a part of that great ST attack chain
-Extremely high damage APP with Fire Blast and Fire Ball.

Outside of super expensive purples and the Glad Armor 3% I'm not sure how much I could appreciably improve upon this build. Well... I could make him a Brute. That would give him more HP and access to easier AoE patron attacks as well as Darkest Night. Anyway, any suggestions/ideas/personal experiences for this character build?
  4. Enjoy!! S/L soft-cap. ~40% to E. 20%+ to everything else. Enough to get you effectively soft-capped to everything with one application of Fearsome or Darkest Night. Perma Hasten. Good end use/recovery. Good, relevant enhancement values in all powers as well.

Note: No incarnate is selected yet. Cardic Core will solve all end issues. 2 Purple sets are included. They are the cheap ones. Bid lowish and let them sit for a while. You'll get them eventually. I would say this build is fairly expensive, but if you put the time in you can get pretty much everything with 1 or 2 A-merits. When I'm working for a build I will run 2 of my more powerful characters on -1/1 and bang out 5 tip missions a day. I imagine with a level shift it's even easier. Takes about 20 minutes each and you get 2 A-merits every other day, or in other words, 2 of the 1-merit-wonders every other day.

  5. Your first inclination of DM/Invul in a great idea. That particular combo, built right, is probably one of the most, if not THE most, resilient melee characters you can make. You can have an awesome attack chain in DM that does great ST DPS and Soul Drain being Perma means you're running a huge damage boost at all times. With the addition of an APP AoE attack you can have some decent AoE also.

Top that off with a permanent and massive boost to HP, a good self heal that you can fire off every 3 seconds that also happens to be part of your attack chain, near perma-hasten/Soul Drain level of recharge, and soft-capped defense to everything but Psi, and you're essentially unkillable.

This is a DM/Invuln scrapper I made a while back. Porting this over to a Brute is pretty easy since the builds are the same. You would have to move some stuff around to get a patron pool. Taking Mu Fences and Ball Lightning would be a good idea to give you a decent amount of AoE if you want it. NOTE: The build I am showing you has the Glad 3% IO in it. With that removed (I'm guessing you don't have one/want to get one) you'll be a little short on F/C with only 43% in a fully saturated situation. You're still FAR over the cap on S/L and E/NE. I'm sure there's a way to Find the extra 1.5% F/C defense to cap that if you are crazy for it.

Keep in mind this is using the Spiritual Core Paragon Alpha Slot.

Aim>FS>Assualt with Core Paragon Musculature Blizzard from a corr does 2500 damage assuming all damage ticks hit and before scourge kicks in.
  8. I like your FA cone and target cap suggestions and would like to raise you a faster hitting Flamethrower and Ignite.

As to the topic, I'm of the mindset that the crashing nukes are still a left-behind artifact of the pre-ED days. When everyone would just six slot them for damage it was understandable that the crash needs to be extra harsh.
  9. I've played all of the "power builds" out there. Well maybe not all of them, but a good deal of them. Well built and heavily invested into IOs. None of them even come close to what my Plant/Psi/Fire can accomplish.

With Perma-dom levels of recharge I am capable of complete lock down of pretty much any given spawn in the game with the 1-2 punch of Seeds>Roots and then I can completely annihilate them with my huge arsenal of AoE attacks. I can give myself >1000% regen and something like 13 end/sec recovery perma, I have high levels of mezz and KB protection, and if all of that isn't enough, I have Carrion Creepers to cause mass chaos, a relatively fast recharging AoE hold that can also lock down an entire spawn, an AoE sleep to control AVs or anything else and a fairly useful pet who can run around and take care of business. /Psi is no slouch in the ST damage department, either.

But none of that matters because even with SO level slotting by level 22 you can have Seeds up for every spawn, and even without Domination running you can confuse entire spawns minus the bosses/resistant enemies. Early on, Seeds is the shining star of the set. However, by the end-game you will have a whole box full of tools to use.
  10. Just use Fulcrum Shift on one mob and use your normal AoE attacks. On the next spawn open with RoA. FS recharges fast enough so that you can keep it perma fairly easy. It's possible that you'll have a hard time using FS>RoA if your team is killing things fast enough but you'll always have it ready for the next spawn.
  11. You're gonna be dying for endurance on a SS/SD character until you can get some serious slotting done. After that it opens up into a strong combo. If you hate rage crash (and who doesn't) you can go DM, which is probably the best solo primary for /SD.
  12. Neogumbercules

    Arch/Dark?

I would say stick with the Corr. /Dark brings so much to the team that a Blaster just can't. I haven't played the sets together, but I have played them individually. Tar Patch>Rain of Arrows would be a devastating combo especially when followed up with Fistful and Explosive. All of the other DM greatness would make you an outstanding addition to a team.

Fire/ matures sooner and probably does more overall AoE damage, but it is a bit slower with Rain of Fire. You can't go wrong either way.
  13. I wish my /FA and /DA had a taunt aura. It makes it so much easier to handle a group of enemies. I hate runners.
  14. Here's an S/L/E soft-capped, perma-hasten (with 2x Siphon Speed or the Spiritual Paragon) Kin/DP that shouldn't break the bank too bad.

  15. Here's a perma-hasten S/L soft-capped Fire/Dark. One application of Fearsome Stare will make you pretty much unhittable. Darkest Night sweetens the pot. You can easily switch out the Leaping pool for flight and move some stuff around to fit your concept/liking. This is my default "Fire/Dark" suggestion build :P maybe it can help you generate some ideas.

  16. Assuming you put gun to my head and forced me to choose...

I would choose the Scrapper every single time. There is nothing the Stalker can reliably do better than a Scrapper and I can't fathom a scenario where I'd be thinking to myself "Man! I could really use a big crit to deal decent damage to that one enemy!" This is especially true in the current state of the game where everybody and their grandmothers have some kind of opening salvo that can effectively kill/disable an entire spawn. The so called "tough targets" people always complain about (like Sappers) are completely marginalized in the world of IOs and the generally high player knowledge thanks to this game being fairly aged and well understood.
  17. The great thing I found with VEATs is their potential and options when slotting IOs. I managed to make a Huntsman with soft-capped M/R/AoE and damn near soft-cap to every damage type AND perma Hasten. And it was easy. That's what makes them fun to me.
  18. Neogumbercules

    Thug/dark

The LotG +rech can be slotted up to 5 times on any given build. Even better, this does not break the "rule of 5" on any other set. That means you can have five LotGs slotted and five 7.5% +recharge bonuses from something like Sting of the Manticore or Basilisk's Gaze because the game sees them as two different things.
  19. There are a lot of high selling enhancements that you can craft with 1 A-merit, if you're looking to mix it up. I ran 2 characters, 5 missions a day for each for a week and got enough to make several hundred million inf. At -1/1 you can bang out your 5 daily tips in about 20 minutes on a level 50.
  20. Not to sounds like Cpt. Obvious, but the cardiac alpha is the only way to fly! :P
  21. I imagine that's how my entire team feels whenever I run in and use BU>FE>LR>Burn>Fire Ball on my Elec/Fire/Fire scrapper.
  22. The people working on Mid's are amazing and do incredible things for our community. If I had money to spare I would definitely donate some their way. Good job guys! I know I really appreciate it.
  23. Here's an S/L soft-capped, Perma-Hasten with 1 Siphon Speed Fire/Kin with the Mace APP. Soul Mastery on a Kin is somewhat useless. You can cap your damage on your own with Fulcrum Shift. Soul Drain will just slow you down, and you'll get pretty much nothing out of it. The APP version of Soul Drain is terrible anyway.

  24. I'm gonna lean towards the troller. Being able to keep all of the enemies inside of a tight, AoE-friendly radius with Cages, -and- being able to keep them all mezzed goes a long way towards increasing your kill speed and keeping yourself alive, even from attacks that you haven't built defense towards.

Containment + Fulcrum shifted Fire Cages, Hot Feet, your AoE Epic, and whatever other damage attacks you have will give you more than enough kill speed. I've not seen anything like it that matches it on both safety and consistency on a squishy.

Fulcrum Shifted Imps are a nice damage boost as well. I suggest Stone Mastery for the S/L defense shield.

Here's a build, since I like posting builds.
