Beyond that, Stalkers. Didn't play them until they were fixed to be actually worth playing. Right now I have two, but with plans for more.

I DID play Blasters, but before the Defiance changes, I only had one and even that one wasn't worth playing. Since then, I've gotten two to 50 and one into the 40s and there are a few I'm forgetting.

Beyond that, what I don't play, I never will. I don't play Tankers, because they don't do enough damage. I don't play Defenders, Controllers and Corrupers and I never will. I tried plying a Kheldian, but that didn't work. I tried playing a Dominator, but that failed. I haven't tried a villain Epic, and I likely never will. No real reason to, as I don't enjoy Arachnos powers to begin with.
Funny. I couldn't get into Claws until recently, either. It was the metal rake scraping the cement sound effects that always put me off of the set. The funny part is that you don't play VEATs, but it was my Widow that made me reconsider Claws. After playing her up to the 30s, I rolled a rough hero analogue, a Claws/Willpower Scrapper, and have loved playing her.

You get a whole bunch of badges. That's it. The Nemesis Staff is a mission temp power for heroes and one of the choices for the 33 month vet reward. The other choice is the Blackwand, which is probably the other staff that you're thinking of.

    I wouldn't.

I realize that the beacon badges are SG-wide, and it doesn't matter who gets the exploration badges for a zone to get the beacon badge.

The game obviously keeps track of the badges, and knows who gained that last badge for the beacon.
If that's how they get lost, it's a transient bug. I know that I earned all of the beacons for my hero SG on my main. That hero was accidentally kicked by a twitchy-fingered SG leader sometime after and reinvited within a minute, and we didn't lose a single beacon. This was a couple of years ago, mind you, so things may have changed in the interim.

In the 1990s, Image was notorious for delayed books. The disease has spread to both Marvel and DC in the last decade. Just about every year, you will find at least one big ticket project that has a delay of at least a couple of months from each of them. The most notorious example that comes to mind is Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk, which had a three year delay between issues in the middle, no joke.

Either explanation is reasonable in the absence of facts.
I still find it unlikely that any decline in CoH/V subscriptions would have caused NCSoft to stop publishing those numbers for all of their games. We were never in the same ballpark as Lineage in terms of subscriptions, after all.
  10. Just noticed that. Better go grab a Lost Curing Wand.

CoV was announced officially right when CoH launched, so it was a year and a half lead time for that.

The untimely announcement that they had a fully-designed webpage and a trailer up for within 12 hours? Do you really think they're just sitting on professional trailers with CGI and that decent-looking webpages can be ready in mere hours? That announcement was about a year before expected release, a shorter time by about 6 months than there was between announcement and release of CoV. It was early, but probably only by about a half a day.

I thought about this while getting some candy canes to unlock a few things on some characters, so I looked at a character that I made right after Issue 11 and Ouroboros. She had full contact bars for everyone in the Hollows, which you don't get to keep when you do them through Ouroboros. I then checked her Souvenirs, and found the ones for Wincott and Flux after the ones for Bonefire, the Clockwork Captive and the Vahzilok Plague, meaning she did them sometime after hitting level 10 naturally. That means that, at least by Issue 11, they no longer had a level 9 or 10 cap. Unfortunately, the individual arcs didn't give Souvenirs before Issue 11 that I'm aware of, so I can't be as certain about earlier characters.

    fastest flight

These days, 2 even-level Flight SOs in Fly plus Swift with no Flight enhancements in it at all will cap you. That's ~66.7% enhancement value, if you have Swift, to get past the cap. It doesn't matter what the source is, SOs, HOs or IOs. Be warned, the Fly speed cap is still only 58.6 mph.
  15. It also leads me to ask if it's even possible for a Deadly Apocalypse to occur at all on villain side during this event. I haven't played villains near as often as heroes during this event, and I don't have the zone events channels monitored on a lot of the lesser-played characters that I've been playing catch up with old Winter badges on, so I couldn't really say, but if what Zombie Man says is true, it probably can't happen at all in the Rogue Isles right now.

Therefore, it will skip to a zone it can go to, like the Hollows. Once the winter event is done, it should resume it's normal randomness.
It isn't the presents, or even the chance of a Winter Lord, that's stopping it. I saw a Zombie Apocalypse while there were presents on the ground in Mercy Island last week, and I know that Winter Lords can spawn there. Perhaps it's the chance of the Lord Winter's Realm present that is keeping it from happening in city zones, since those don't seem to spawn in Mercy.

Combining those two and averaging is really close to the ~1 in 6 average that I came up with during my two longest cycles of runs of the mission, both defeating 60 Minion + Lieutenant pairs. I didn't get into the statistical detail that you did, but your numbers corroborate mine nicely.

This part is key for the advanced slope. The original one is so short that I've gotten it easily on level 12s, so long as they had the Zero-G Pack or Inertial Reduction. That advanced one is so long that the lower speed caps for lower levels make a lot of difference. I essentially had to re-learn the course for every 5 or so levels lower that I got. It took a long time and a lot of luck for me to get the Gold on the advanced course on a level 25 last year, due to the lower speed cap and some combination of my reflexes, slow dial-up connection and computer, so I gave up on getting it on anything lower than that. If I could count on a 50 to team with them for SSK, I'd be all over it on my lowbies, but I've resigned myself to a level 25 minimum to attempt it without that kind of aid.
  20. They get replaced 7 days after you use each. I used 2 the first day, 2 on Wednesday, and the other 2 on the weekend last week, I got 2 back Tuesday afternoon, 2 more early yesterday evening, and will get the other 2 back this weekend, it looks like, for example.

That's actually a matter of debate. Tradition and early proclamations make the case as you stated, but later acts of Parliament use language stating that "...the Union Jack should be regarded as the national flag."

I don't know about other dial-up users but I've found that the one I use will auto boot you after four hours and really doesn't like it if you try to reconnect immediately. This caps a session download to roughly 55-70MB per session. As it is right now, an Issue major patch takes me several days to fetch and a normal routine patch takes anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours to get.

The only way I was able to participate with the CoV beta (last wave) was because friends who played back then (but not anymore) gave me a DVD with a copy of their test directory since the initial patch was over a GB in size.
Mine generally runs for 8 hours before it drops. In an ideal world, that's about 150 MB of download, but the updater can be fickle, gradually slowing down over a long update so that I only get maybe 100 MB before a reset. I can immediately reconnect, though. Sometimes a reconnect is fast enough that I don't get booted to the login screen when it happens while I'm playing.

The real problem is the fixing files process. Since that doesn't give a cumulative lock on the individual files the way that a patch does, it means that any file greater than 100 MB in size is doubtful to ever be fixed, and any file greater than 150 MB is definitely not ever going to be fixed. This is why I try to keep up on patches to Test.
  24. The wailing over robots and several other mob types that really heavily resist Toxic damage would be immense. Like Psi, Toxic is little-resisted by players, but there are a whole bunch of mobs out there that resist it, some very heavily.

Edit: Upon further review of Culex' resists spreadsheet, most robots don't actually resist Toxic. Snakes, Banished Pantheon zombies, pretty much all Tsoo, just about every Devouring Earth, Arachnoids, a few types of Arachnos and any kind of Ghost are the main resisters, with a few other things thrown in for good measure.
  25. We have full ground coverage now in Michigan, but still only around 2 inches deep, thanks to a snow shower overnight. We've been denied appreciable snow on the ground here for two of the last three Christmases, so I hope it doesn't melt away in the next few days.
