Yes, I opened that can of worms =D -
I just have one thing to say: If you do NOT ship at least one set of Depends for VIP subscribers for the day that they fully announce what is in I24.....I'm going to be disappointed.
It sounds like i'll need a fresh pair of underwear when it's fully announced.
Definite thumbs up on what we already know of I24!!!! And, yes, i've really liked the direction the game is going as well. -
So, i'm not a coder....and i admit i have no idea here, but something strikes me strangely.
The old bases are resource intensive-- however, we can have 60 billion missions in the mission AE system with custom maps, custom mobs, custom dialogue.
I don't see the difference between saving all that information for the AE and then having bases being resource intensive. People have asked for maids/butlers or SG members that are logged off roaming the halls or doing tasks in the SG base like they are "hanging out there" in their time off. (I do realize that tracking logged off characters might be an issue though....it is a tad different...but perhaps we have work arounds?)
I don't see why that's difficult compared to the AE missions of having characters in it, saying and doing things.
Perhaps there needs to be a tweaking on the code to make it less intensive? A more efficient way for it to work?
What I'd love is if we get access to inspirations (without the badges!) and a hospital that fully heals you (without the badges!) and personal space.
Personal space, like someone mentioned, going up an elevator and then allowing members to decorate their own spaces.
Perhaps give permission for people to decorate their own areas or other parts of the base. This is a BIG reason why I left my previous 2 SGs.....and started my own SG base. I wasn't able to change anything ever.
I started it just after (unfortunately) the SG prestige give-away back when. All my alts are in my SG....and I've literally gotten to the point that I have SO much prestige that I don't know what to do with it now.
My base doesn't have everything (mostly limited by stupid badges) but it has a lot for only me being the contributer to the prestige. I'm....2 or 3 base sizes away from the biggest base. However, after getting all the TPers....and putting an Ouroboros crystal in....and some storage stuff......I don't know what else I can do with it.
As someone mentioned above: A pvp arena area, a "danger room," and other functionality can be added.
I DEFINITELY vote for working up SG bases from scratch. Bases should make our lives way more convenient-- the current ones only do so marginally.
EDIT: and I DEFINITELY vote for the legacy base idea where you can have your old base and upgrade to the new base when you are ready. -
Yeah, I definitely think this is a plus....it's some of the things I've been asking for.
Along with better secondaries.....that are actually, ya know, useful :P
However, I think we're running into the old issue that we need more enhancer slots. I've heard they tried to give us more slots.....and it broke the game. Same with messing with bases.....breaks the game.
I ain't one dem dere pro'gammers.....but I think they need to totally redo some basic aspects of the game (like leveling, power choices, and enhancers....and bases) to address major problems in the game.
I dunno. It's asking a lot, but I think i'd totally be fine if they halted the storyline and new zones or redone zones for an issue and totally did just "fix everything." LOL. -

OK OK, I'll make a signature without my name in it!!! JUST STOP FIGHTING!!!!

Quote:What's more practical and would be a better story that makes more sense would be relocating to another dimension and giving Hamidon Praetoria.
So that means what our dev team will end up doing is give us yet another iTrial that you have to farm to unlock the next iPower, letting us beat the Hamidon in an anticlimactic showdown so we can put the Praetorians back on their world and everything will be nice and happy in the end with no possible issues.
Amen, the Magi trial was so anticlimatic, I'm like....wait.....what? It's over?
Cole doesn't get up and say: Ha ha ha, you think you've beaten me??!
....and then fuse with the power of some uber something-or-other where he changes form and gets granted a ton of new powers and 6 billion more hps. I mean, that might not common comic-booky thing, but certainly a gaming thing!

Quote:Hey, we wanted inherent fitness. We can't complain that the NPC's can't keep up now.
Also, please don't type your name at the bottom of your post like that. This is the 21st century. We can see your name on the left, and you can create a signature that won't be automatically thrown into a quote when someone responds to you.
What if I *REALLY* want credited for what I said, huh??!
Besides, with how often I post.....it's too much work to create a sig....had one before they moved the boards!
Still, pet AI/following heroes are horrible. With fitness or not. We need a lot more control over them.
Mr. True Shot -
Well, the dimensions are infinite....so really, there's WAY more than 2 options
Find uninhabited garden world: mine it into the ground for resources.
More than likely, we're going to save Praetoria's butt from P-Hammi.
Mr. True Shot. -
Oh, I thought you were going to say that NPC heroes/villians that follow you can't keep up with you even without sprint on and consistently have to be checked that they didn't get lost or stuck....or, aggro something you don't want.
Mr. True Shot -
I think addressing the snipes is a good idea....not sure about the implementation however. Again, I won't know until I test it. I agree, it might not sound like a much, but then again, it may really make a big difference.
Thematically, I don't like the way this is handled....though I have no better idea at the moment.
On my character, at least, the regen is useless from the /devices buff. If I need health, I need a heal....and I usually need it during the wind-up in Rain of Arrows (see below.) Regen does nothing for me.
Recovery is never an issue with my character either. I rarely run out of endurance. I don't think the regen/recovery is the way to make blasters better.
What I feel DOES need addressed for blasters is the T9 nukes. It's been said before:
- no END crash
- rechargable faster (judgement or Rain of Arrows recharge times)
- the wind-up times need to be shortened (as most often when I die, it's in the Rain of Arrows wind-up time.) Wind-up times for RoA make it a requirement to use at the beginning of battles.....and even then sometimes, things are all dead before it goes off. I now use my Fire Blast Judgement power (forget it's name) to blast for AE damage in groups.
- All T9 blasts need to be changed to a Targetted PBAoE or "enemy targetted AE" (perhaps give an option for which you want when you chose the power, or keep the old power the way it was for those that don't want to lose options.) This allows us to stay at range without closing for use of the T9s
Also, secondary powers need addressed:
- from day one, it has been noted that a ranged blaster has secondaries that require melee range for damage. As a /devices character, this is less true. I've managed to keep myself at range with my archery/devs blaster-- however, I recently rolled a mental/mental blaster. The amount of melee range stuff is ridiculous. I've only picked out 2 good powers in the secondary set-- and this is the secondary set that is supposed to "be the best secondary for blasters."
- what needs to happen? Alternate powers you can chose instead of the old melee ones (leave the melee ones in for those that like blapping.) Things like "Time Bomb" can become "Charged Bombs".....click it, lasts about as long as "build-up" and all your single target powers get a 100% proc of AE small bombs detonating around the target hit...causing knock-up and significant damage. Effectively turning a single target blast into an AE blast-- AE blasts would have multiple AE blasts going off as well. (Just one suggestion for a change....upping the blaster's damage with a useful secondary power.)
- perhaps add in "assault-like" self buffs to up damage on blasters as a secondary power.
- add more powers into the secondaries like "World of Confusion" or "Arctic Ice" that is AE around the blaster and helps the blaster mitigate some damage in times of over-aggro issues. Things that wouldn't save a blaster that was "just too dumb and aggroed everything" but something that helps the blaster help himself in emergenices. Perhaps, like that power that encases you in ice and makes you unkillable for 30 seconds and regens/recovers you fully (this is the only regen/recovery that is useful...when you are invulnerable to boot! LOL.)
Also: Electric blast needs updated:
- again, allow the ability to choose all the old powers so people can keep their old Electricity blaster....but things like "Chain induction" and "Thunderstrike" would be awesome. Voltaic Sentinel sucks because it's not controllable at all....it blasts if you get too close....and, at least as far as I know, could fall behind when you are running.
- Perhaps add in visuals that allow the blaster to turn to electricity and jump himself through the whole patch of enemies he's firing at....an updated "Chain Induction?"
In summation: I think blasters should be the king of AE damage (versus Stalkers and Brutes and Scrappers).....I think adding a secondary power that changed single target powers into AE powers for a brief time (for bad situations) would be fun and a powerful "save your butt" power. Improved T9 blasts help as well.....as well as useful and new ranged secondaries. Then blasters would be a thing to behold. (They are fun now, yes, but need work.) -
/devices:
Time Bomb ---> Cluster Bombs
All single target powers spray a cluster of bombs that cause fire damage and multiple knockup effects. AE powers spray mulitple clusters of bombs for carnage.

Thank you for your time =P
I know, I know....suggestion box ---->
I figure someone is reading this in the announcement that I24 is changing blasters. I can get the idea that blasters (at least my own blasters) shouldn't have to melee range for secondaries =D
Mr. True Shot. -
Yeah, differences in playstyles. True....but, giving us options on making T9s much more useful can't be a bad thing.
You can build your character how you like.
And like I mentioned (maybe only under the electricity example) is that these secondary power changes can be a "choose the old power or the new version." Because, lets face it, if they announce any changes-- even if they are excellent, there will be a back-lash of "ZOMG YOU CHANGED IT SO I CAN NO LONGER BE A BLAPPER!!!"
Give us options. Keep the old styles, pick up the new ranged styles....or new assault-type secondary power, or whatever else they decide would help the blaster do damage (or avoid damage in a bad aggro-management moment)....maybe some of those new AE targetted eletricity damage fields that some of the Banished Pantheon got-- so the blaster doesn't have to be next to the enemy, but there's still a field of damage in the midst of a lot of enemies. Etc.
Allow blasters to remain at range (muchlike /devices do for my blaster).....but allow the secondaries to enhance our damage. Ohhhhh....perhaps a new power that has the ability to change all of the next attacks we do from single target to AE damage (sort of like a "build-up" but changing everything to AE damage.)
Damn, i'm full of good secondary ideas today. =D
Fixing the secondaries could fix some of the griping about blasters not living up to their potential.
Mr. True Shot. -
Oh, and forgot to mention: all T9 powers should be AE targetted (like RoA) or AE enemy targetted. I hate having to run into the middle of a group and use PBAoE T9s. Melee range means a world more of hurt....not to mention, a wrong button push and I'm blowing bullets and jumping around like a nut and wasting my T9 on my dual pistols =P
Mr. True Shot. -
I dunno. My blaster (archery/devices/munitions) would probably "Meh" this.
He does have his sniper blast.....as runners are a pain in the butt sometimes. However, the extra regen won't make a difference. If I need the health, I need a friggin heal....not a regen.
My stamina is never an issue, so the +END is sort of not needed at all.
Though, I get to cycle in my snipe now, which has "high damage" compared to my other powers....I think it is less damage than "blazing arrow." Again, another high damage power to throw in there (and sounds like "targetting drone" will make it fire faster by skipping the interrupt time?)
Depends on how it plays out.
I was HOPING they would address the T9 blaster powers. The "BIG BOOM" and END drain.....and address the fact that even "Rain of Arrows," which is awesome, has too long of a wind-up to be useful for anything but an opening power (and even sometimes it takes too long before everything is dead anyway.) Most of the times I die, it's that I started RoA with full health and no aggro....but during the wind up, something changes or something targets me....and by the time I can move, I'm dead. Especially on incarnate level stuff. Fighting against pink or blue rings? Have fun =/
The T9 blaster powers need addressed. The END drain taken out....the activation times lessened. It should be like the judgement powers: Big boom ready for mass AE damage. This is how blastes should be.....but, instead, their T9s are limited. Blasters should be king of area damage to set them off from Stalkers/Scrappers/Brutes.
The other issue, which is ESPECIALLY pronounced since I made a mental/mental blaster.....the secondaries of blasters are HORRIBLE. I've been using /devices forever, and I like them-- most are useful or have a purpose. MOST. "Time bomb" and "Smoke Grenades" can go die. However, I recently rolled a mental/mental blaster. I hear /mental is one of the better ones.....but, there are only, like, 2 useful powers in it-- and the rest are all melee range damage. They really need to work ranged options into the equation....or powers like "World of Confusion" where it's a help if the blaster finds himself in the middle of a ton of aggro. The power isn't a definite "save me!" but possibly enough to earn him some leeway until he can GTFO of dodge or do something else....or have the tank save him.
I think the secondary powers of blasters should be geared to things that are ranged damage or somehow enhance damage for the blaster.....or allow something like "arctic ice" or something to affect melee range things you DON'T want around you. (For years, I've LOVED caltrops on my blaster for this reason....creates a safe area for me.)
And for obvious reasons: Electrical blast needs some different options (you can still chose the old powers of electricity, but allow there to be an alternate power you can choose for a new electricity blast. Perhaps "chain-induction" and "Thunderstrike" versions....but, obviously, improved...and different concepts for blasters.)
These changes they proposed are at the best minor changes....it's almost like a footnote...not a major announcement. If they ever addressed what I brought up, then i'd feel like it's a major blaster overhaul worthy of the "major blaster announcement" title.
Again: Meh.
Mr. True Shot. -
I had the same issue with my natural Arrows/Devices blaster/Munitions
I couldn't come up with a natural type judgement power (I think all powers, including Epics and Incarnate and power pools need many more options, btw.)
I finally gave in and went with the Fire judgement. Why? Well, my arrows do involve explosive arrows (looks like fire explosion) and Flaming Arrows.....so. I decided that the incarnate trials allowed my character to get his hands on advanced devices.
Now, when my character uses the Fire Judgement powers.....he has a device in the palm of his hand that shoots out a powerful blast of flame into an area and decimates whatever is in it's range. Yes, the fire blast is a "hand blast".....so, I can only imagine there is a small device on (or in) his hand that produces the blasts.
He also mostly uses barrier. Again an advanced device. He also summons Cimerorans....as they were the closest to "natural warriors or fighters" that I could get. Plus, i'm big on getting my DPS up....and they were the "highest DPS."
Ya know, a simple animation option could solve these issues too. Like, if my character pulled a flame thrower (or something just way cooler than that) as a device to show that it isn't being generated by my character himself.
Mr. True Shot. -
The end of the article is really telling.
I LOVED the Spiderman and Wolverine and the X-men animated series that were out in 2008-ish....and they cancelled them. UGH. Seriously, those were the best ones yet. I was a BIG fan of the 90's X-men.....and now of this new animated one. I wasn't so much into X-men Evolution....
....but they keep cancelling these good cartoons =/
Mr. True Shot. -
*runs back and forth naked* AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Mr. True Shot. -
I think the relevant point is here.....would you travel back in time and be my daddy??!
It'd be much better than the **** who I got.
Mr. True Shot. -
Back when I reading X-men (and I've kept on it somewhat in general by what my friends tell me....or wikipedia)....Gambit was off the X-team for awhile.
He went to X-treme X-men, then left with Rogue. Then came back and left again.
I know he had two limited series.....one of which REALLY expanded his powers and explained the Mr. Sinister connection (before, of course, putting the powers right back to status quo.)
Gambit was REALLY powerful.
However, again, I only know vague things....haven't been able to afford to keep up.
Mr. True Shot. -
WOW, if you liked "Gambit" from "Wolverine: Origins," then you'll LOVE this character in the comics.
The Gambit in the movies, I thought, was a ****** bag. And sort of misportrayed. Gambit doesn't make his cards float and move on their own accord.
Gambit has always been a favorite of mine since the X-men cartoon in the 90s.
He's had his own title a few times....but I haven't been collecting nor keeping up with the comics since the early 2000s. Money reasons =/
Mr. True Shot. -
Yeah, I echo these sentiments. It's just an unfortunate side effect of heaping a ton of Nemesis spawns on top of one another. Old game mechanics clash with new.
Mr. True Shot.
PS: On the other hand, this is EXACTLY how HE planned it!!! -
I dunno why Positron is SO worried about water blast colors.
Now off to reserve my new character name: Watersports.
Possibly if that name is taken, i'll try Golden Girl....oh wait, that's taken. Golden Showers!!!
Mr. True Shot. -
Ask Jack Emmert. ED/GDN nerf-- I left for a good many years until IOs and buffs (and more content) were added back to the game.
I still couldn't play my original character: ice/storms, as it'd been altered too severely. He's now sitting on my character list....never used.
I had to roll a new character altogether.
Ice/storms was NEVER overpowered to begin with....and the ice slick nerf infuriated me. When I joined, I thought it was SO neat....a control power I'd never seen in another game and made that character feel so different....and look: there's ice on the floor!
Then the nerf on recharge and duration of the ice slick.....we could only have one slick out at a time....and I think you couldn't even summon another for a few more seconds after the slick disappeared.
So, before the nerf, we could have 3 ice slicks out at once with recharges....no one DARED stack them or you caused knock back and it negated the purpose. However, we had a unique control (at the time).....and could surround our team with slicks if we needed to in a bad situation.
And guess what: flyers/Ralaruu and werewolves honey badgered our ice slicks. (Probably more, I forget.)
I re-rolled an ice/cold recently (as that was my original concept for my ice/storms back when) and I just really didn't get into it. He's at 50....unlocked the alpha. I still prefer my blaster and stalker though.
So, ice slick is the power for me....I guess, that was altered and made me ragequit. Still can't be "fixed" because there are no "duration" power enhancers. Sad, ice slick was my favorite power.
Served Cold (ice/storms;retired controller)
Mr. True Shot (archery/devs; blaster)
Electric Potential (ele/ele; stalker)
Cold Shatter (ice/cold; meh, new controller) -
Quote:I'd say not likely!
Jacob's Ladder is not only better DPS than Havok Punch, but it can be slotted with a -Resist Proc, and a different purple set (for more purple proc goodness!)
And JL has the same animation time as HP.
Yeah, I need some serious slotting help with this character too =D
I really need to delve back into the world of optimal IO slotting. Been SOOOOO long.
Mr. True Shot. -
Now with the I22 changes, I've been thinking about this alot when we fight AVs in the iTrials.
I've gravitated to using: charged brawl, havoc punch, chain induction....and then anot her charged brawl if the orange ring isn't around AS. I hit build up when it's recharged too.
I avoid lightning rod, jacob's ladder, and thunder strike as they all have longer animations and don't allow me to use an orange-ringed AS as soon as AS recharges.
Just wondering if that's optimal as I don't know much about the numbers.....it feels at least optimal.....but then I feel guilty about neglecting my big AEs (I use them solo....or when dealing with multiple targets of course, but the AVs I stick to the abovechain.)
Mr. True Shot.
