Hmmm Im still a noob to Mids, but this is what Im looking at in an "affordable" build. Its not perfect, but I think it will do what I want it to. Eventually I would like to purple an immob, hold, and confuse. I will be going reactive incarnate to help with damage.

Hopefully I didnt miss anything major. -
Im getting into making my first real dom (first to get above level 10 anyway). Im not even sure specifically what Im asking here. Doms seem to do a little of everything (controls, ranged, melee, debuffing), is it better to slot everything a little or pick a specialty and focus on it?
I read somewhere here that I need ~125% recharge for permadom, how exactly does attacking/teaming effect domination recharge?
I tend to play melee characters, even when Im a blasterMy dom is plant/psi, so any guidance given (I dont want a build, just general concepts) would be awesome.

Have they said anything about how the titan mechanic works yet? A titan/regen sounds fun to me if the clickies dont ruin the momentum.

Quote:This^Um... from what *I* understand...
VIP = Subscriber. You pay your $15/mo, you get to play everything.
Compare that to current system: same thing
Premium = former subscribers who want to just play for free. You get MM/Cont/etc. through paying a one time fee, OR if you have previously earned veteran rewards.
Compare that to current system: N/A. Right now if you are a former subscriber, you can't even log in... you may have bought the retail box, but you can't log in without a subscription... so CoH:Freedom... now gives you *some* of the game without a subscription...
I don't see that as a loss situation...
If you stop paying for the game, you stop getting as much of it. More than none though, thats pretty good considering its free. -
Quote:I dont have a single non-tanker character that is softcapped to any defense. It is not necessary to play this game.Simple:
The majority of players in the game are not soft-capped to defense.
...
The majority of players in the game who have stalkers have to play stalkers via the designed hit-and-run tactics.
....
Why do you suppose stalkers get all of those other attacks in their "assassin strike" powerset? I wonder if the devs thought we might stick around and use more than just BU, AS, placate, run away? You really should try playing a stalker once. They aren't as awful as you make them sound. -
Im also curious about this. Build up, assassin strike, fight, fight, fight, placate, assassin strike, fight, fight. Dont see anything that would interfere with titan weapons.

None of the lore pets really fit my concept, so I want to pick one that compliments my build. This char isnt "maxed" out, and I dont intend to change much, he works perfectly for my playstyle.
Incarnates slotted:
Barrier Partial Core Invocation
Reactive Total Radial Conv
Pyronic Partial Radial Judgement
Before the new pets came out I crafted the seers tier 1 with the intention of going total radial for mini-fortitude. Now Im thinking phantoms total radial for adrenaline boost (to fille the gap when instant heal is down). Keeping in mind that I dont want to rely on pets for anything more than big boss fights (and would prefer the non-killable support version), and I have no intention of revamping my build, What pets would benefit me the most?

Anyone have screenshots of the new pets?
Also is there an efficient way to turn the "seers ally" I already crafted into something I like better? Its only tier 1 so Im not losing a ton of effort, but it would be nice to not waste anything. -
Quote:I just modified this to turn on 7 toggles on my WP by pushing the same button repeatedly. This prevent turning toggles back off when the game is laggingThis might work for you if you change it to your suiting.
/bind lctrl+\ "+down$$powexectoggleon "Rock Armor"$$powexectoggleon "Crystal Armor"$$powexectoggleon Minerals"
It only works for me with powexec_toggleon though. -
The -tohit of DM should go well with any set that utilizes defense. Im a big fan of Willpower myself, but I bet most people here would agree with using Invuln.
-
I shield/buff myself ALL THE TIME when I solo. I just choose the ATs that are capable of doing it.
On the other hand, I do wish that my tank could make the team damage cap, reduce an enemies tohit and resistance to negligible amounts, as well as use effective aoe holds and have a crashless nuke. In fact, we should cap all characters in everything like they are during the ouroboros mission of the alpha slot arc. That would be super awesome all the time. -
I know mids is pretty good if I wasnt too lazy to figure it out. I just typically build my characters on the fly instead of planning out every detail. I just needed the recharge equation to decide if actually planning out my set bonuses would be worth the effort.
To get the recharge I need I would have to rethink my whole character, so Im not ready for mids yet :P -
Quote:Yes, you are. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has this problem
I've been playing the game on and off for 6 years and every time I come back, all I want to play are defenders/controllers/corruptors. Nothing else I make gets past level 10 before deletion.
Considering how much customization is available to me I almost feel guilty for not exploring moreBut I can't be the only one, can I?
Naw just kidding. I have at least 1 of each AT, but my melee toons (scrapper/brute/tank) outnumber the rest 10 to 1 and are the only ones I play consistently. -
I suck with mids, so does anyone know how to calculate the recharge time of a power based on ed cap, alpha slot, and IO bonuses?
-
Quote:I see where you are coming from, but I am eating reds on top of melt armor also. There is almost always a better choice to spend your power picks and slots on. It's not so much that Melt Armor is a horrible power in and of itself, it's just that scrappers almost always have something more useful they can take.
The -9% resistance really isn't all that significant. You'll boost your overall damage output more just by popping a single small red inspiration, which A) lasts 20 seconds longer, and B) You don't have to wait 90 seconds to use another one.
Even if your enemy has resistance to your damage type, you will STILL boost it more with an inspiration than Melt Armor. A small red boosts your damage by 25%, half of that is 12.5% (enemies rarely have more than 50% resistance to any damage type). Melt Armor on the other hand is still giving you just a 9% boost.
In my opinion, by choosing it and 6 slotting it, you probably wasted a power pick, and definitely wasted 5 slots that could have been more useful somewhere else.
I look at melt armor from a teaming perspective too. Most of the time I spend on my scrapper is in a duo with my friend's blaster, and a few other people at times. On a small team that is lacking in other debuffs that 9% seems pretty cool to me.
My scrapper isn't a high end build by this forums standards, but I still dont agree that slotted melt armor is THAT big of a waste. Maybe not the best choice, but not bad. -
If I remember right three slots on resilience gets you 3-4% more resist to s/l. Putting those slots somewhere else would be more useful.
-
Quote:Is this in regards to farming, or do people ALWAYS skip melt armor? I love it, and have mine 6 slotted. I dont mind the 1.5min recharge because I use it on harder targets, and it lasts for 40 seconds so its on almost 50% of the time. Yeah, it only does -9% res, but over 40 seconds that seems significant to me. For someone with perma-hasten levels of recharge it should be able to stack for bosses and AVs wouldn't it?Yes to Fireball. Avoid Melt Armor like the PLAGUE.
It has an insanely long recharge, and you will barely even notice any effect from it. It is the most commonly skipped power in Blaze Mastery. More people take Ring of Fire than Melt Armor.
Im not sure what Im missing here? -
Is this some sort of bug that will eventually be fixed? Why have the crash at all if only to punish new players that havent got into IOs yet? This is madness.
-
-
Which set handles the -def better? Pros and cons of each?
I'm making a boxing concept toon, so I would like to be able to turn off visual effects on the secondary.
Which stays alive better in more situations? -
-
On my main I have a 50+ build, a 27-47 build, and a 1-26 build. On my other characters I don't care enough to worry about it.
-
If you are looking at /fire only for conceptual reasons, you could do /inv /regen or /wp and turn off the visual effects (I think these 3 allow it). Then add a fire costume aura later.
Fire/fire/fire is a wicked aoe beast though -
I think /fire gives up some survivability for damage. I know it has lower resists than /elec. My fire/fire brute can be squishy sometimes, but it kills things fast enough that I dont really worry about it.
