    Optimal Rage?

I try to get Rage to recharge as fast as possible but do not go out of my way to gimp my build by only going for +recharge bonuses. If the set I'm looking at has a +recharge bonus in addition to the other bonus I was looking for then that's great. Personally, for a leveling build pre-set IOs, Rage will normally get 2-3 slots. When it comes time to start thinking about IO sets for a finalized build, then Rage gets 3-5 slots.

As a brute with lots of Fury already built up, doubling up on Rage is most likely not necessary. As said earlier, tougher foes may factor in though. I find that Rage usually gives me enough to-hit that I hit almost all the time. In cases where I am not, then usually popping a yellow is a better option than doubling Rage. Sometimes though I just like smashing a mob so hard they don't know what hit them, then I gleefully use a double-stacked Rage.

Also, having the extra recharge in Rage helps when it comes to -recharge debuffs. I say better to have it recharged and wait to click on it again till the first Rage is about to crash, then to keep looking at it wondering if it will recharge at all.
  2. Toggles will not drain your Endurance bar-- ATTACKS drain the endurance bar. Unless you are toggleman. So, as a defender it comes down to endurance efficiency with those attacks. And they are not very efficient at all. High end cost, low damage, piss poor inherent all add up. Probably simplest solution-- give defenders a damage boost.

And exactly why is Ultimo running 4 toggles? For survivalibility of course. Low HP and lack of being able to properly defend yourself with your own primary is a very real issue with defenders. Again, simple to solve? Maybe not, but more HP gives a defender more time to live.
  3. Try to hit any bargain stores in your area that sells software. Sometimes you can get a steal with an older box version and yet you still get access to the entire game as if you bought the most recent box out there. There are some extra perks in some retail boxes but it doesn't make a difference in game play. And since the trial is actually the entire game anyway, there is no extra downloads.

Note: be sure to upgrade your trial account and not create a new account.
  4. I believe that the improper format corrupts the data and is therefore unfixable. So, unless you want to input the sets and slots by hand, you are SOL. But I could be mistaken.

Don't spend money on a server transfer, just reroll on your server of choice. Really, leveling to lvl 14 or so is so easy that I don't hesitate to delete and remake if I screw something up in the build. By the way, Altitis is contagious and this is the way it spreads.

Because they are in improper format for these boards.
  7. You're right about CJ but I was thinking of the Karma KB IO for its first slot.
  8. Whirling Hands does piddly damage on its own but Fury will help of course. The problem for Inv is that those foes that get stunned by Whirling Hands will stumble away and stop feeding Invincibility. Meaning those tougher opponents will be unaffected and suddenly may be able to hit you more often unless you build for +def or have a way to immob foes.
  9. OK, I have made an electric armor brute but never got out of the teens with it. So, is Grounded skippable? I'm thinking mainly of tanks. Tanks have higher resist starting points than scrappers and brutes and I was thinking tanks would still be capped to Energy even without Grounded. I'm willing to deal with potential KB and Immob and most likely take CJ to remedy this.

Basically, as a tank, take Grounded or go with CJ?

    14 50's

I have 26 lvl 50's on 2 accounts in 4.5 years of playing. Took me 9 months to get the first- an energy/ energy blaster, it wasn't the first blaster I made but it was the one I liked most. The first blaster I made got deleted. The first toon I made was a BS/ INV scrapper that sat for awhile unused but did get to 50 a few years later. First villain ever made is a Ninja/ FF Mastermind, still sitting at lvl 30; it is gonna be one of my projects soon even if just to say I got one to 50.

So my totals: 7 tanks, 5 scrappers, 4 blasters, 3 defenders, 2 trollers, 2 brutes, 1 corr, 1 crab, 1 stalker. I still need the aliens, the other SoA, MM, and a Dom.

I set a goal for myself to have a 50 on each server but so far only got to 4 servers. Of those 4 servers, only 2 of them have 50s on both accounts. I know the server transfer would make this a piece of cake now but: a) I'm too cheap; b) I want the satisfaction of actually leveling and playing on that server; and c) unfortunately most of my ingame friends only play on 1 server-- I have managed to get some of them to make toons on other servers though. My real life friends and I run on different servers fairly often though.

I thought you could go into the Shards if you were exed below 40. But with i16 coming up, it won't matter since they are removing the level restriction from hazard zones.

GC is not an auto power, it is a toggle and as such requires end usage. Phalanx is the auto power you might be thinking of. BUt, yeah I thought it was overslotted as well but sometimes you do so to get the set bonuses you want.
  13. Your defense #'s do not match mine in my Mids'. Most likely because you have Phalanx unmodified in your version to show the defense as if you have 1 teammate standing next to you.

OK looking at your build: Yes, having sets in those defense and resist powers will be very beneficial. I see a few things to think about. You have Boxing slotted better than KO Blow. Kinetic Combat is the better set for a positional defense set. The Steadfast will serve you better for both exemplaring and leveling if its in True Grit. Having both Focused Acc & Rage is over the top IMO. If you ever run FA, your end bar will go away fast.

I need over 200+ merits to get that one? Ugh... I haven't done SF much. I only have about 144 merits.

What's the best way to get merits? SF or finishing arcs?

Do you get merits from finishing old arcs through Oroboro?
I wouldnt save the merits to buy the Clouded Sense proc but get a few more and buy a more lucrative recipe like the Miracle, Numina, or LotG special. Sell that recipe for a lot, then put a reasonble bid in for the Clouded proc. Might take some time, but you will end up with more infamy to help finish out your build. Of course, if you happen to want one of those other recipes I mentioned, then you need twice the amount of merits or start to work the market to build your fortune.

Sorry I just had to fix that for you.

Low level content did get a look at relatively recently: Hallows and Faultline revamps, Isolator badge is available after the tutorial, inherent accuracy buff that fades close to 20, .... . And soon, level restrictions will be removed from hazard zones. Unfortunately the Devs need to prioritize where they decide to add new content.

Lets me think about leveling outside of AE with a hero:

Lvl 1-5: Tutorial and lvl 2, then streetsweep or Sewers team to 5, maybe 6. half hour tops to get to lvl 5.

Lvl 6-10: Go to Kings Row, get police band. Do 3 missions then get bank mission for temp travel. Get a new contact from Detective. Then run more mishes, either contact or ploie band. Lvl 10 in another hour with a team, slightly longer without.

Level 11-15: More scanner missions and another bank mission for another temp travel power. Get to level 12: To do Posi tf or not to..... that is the question. Posi is a guaranteed lvl 16 in about 2.5 hrs with a good team, slightly longer without. Or just do mishes. Here is where you may hit more content or just do police scanners, 3-5 hrs to 15.

Level 16-20: More scanners, another bank mission, another temp power. To do Synapse or not? Synapse is a guaranteed lvl 20, maybe 21, in another 2.5 hrs on a good team. Otherwise content oe more scanner missions. Here, if you haven't done Synapse, you may want to really do content, 4-6 hrs.

So, level 1-20 in maybe 8.5 to 14.5 hours of play time. That's a really short time in the carreer of your hero. If you take the quick route, you put some balm on that itch and use Ouro to flashback all the content you missed if you want. Let's face it, a good portion of the playerbase think that the low levels suck until Stamina and SOs.

So, to my point, sure I wouldn't mind seeing more lower level content, I just don't see it ever being a high priority for the Devs. Too much effort and not enough players satisfied.
I also saw in another topic somewhere about revamping low level story lines. Same thing applies, too much effort and not many players will ever know what they did or even care. Of course this is all my own opinion.

Currently I have a global recharge of 47.5% to which I could add another 7.5% if I drop Hasten for Combat Jump (and slot LotG) for a total of 55%. Additionally adding Combat Jump and 3 slotting it w/LotG would also increase my overall defense and my max health (which would increase my regeneration rate as well).

I also have a Force Feedback Proc in Footstomp.

Rage currently is slotted with 1 lvl 50 Recharge enhancement and 5 slotted Adjusted Targetting for a Recharge of 1m57s making it permanent. I have noticed that for a good amount of time I have double Rage and w/Hasten (and possibly the FF Proc) I occasionally have triple Rage. I also seem to spend a substantial amount of time in Rage crash with this set up.

The total % from Adjusted Targetting is 21.2+26.5+26.5+42.4=116% plus the lvl 50 Recharge enhancement (42.4%) comes to a grand total of 159% but the stat window shows a recharge rate bonus of 103.8%.

So I have several questions concerning the numbers:

    1) If I remove the Recharge rate enhancer from Rage will it still be permanent (sans the global recharge or Hasten modifiers)? And, as a follow up, if not how much global recharge would I need to make it perma w/out the lvl 50 42.4% Recharge rate enhancement (but w/Adjusted Targetting)?

    2) Do I need Hasten to double up Rage or will a global recharge of 55% be enough?

    3) Is triple stacked Rage really worth it in terms of extra damage vs crash time?

Thank you in advance for your posts.
OK so I saw that you removed the recharge IO in Rage. By any chance, you don't have Rage on auto do you? No matter how much recharge you have, you almost never want to click on Rage again until it is blinking. Exceptions are harder to hit oppenents and for the sheer joy of doing a ton of damage that hopefully kills a mob quickly.
  17. So you contend that defenders need "better" graphics meaning more dramatic? SO we would now have all defenders turned into lag producing Earth Trollers or anything Thermal? Yes I agree, boost defenders effectiveness--- To Do More Damage!

The "Vigilance" inherent should be taken literally: defenders should not be falling asleep on the job. One way of doing this would be to give a defender a mez protection/resistance buff for each team member, similar to Khelds getting mez resistance for each controller or dominator on the team. Or they could build up a "Vigilance" power similar to Domination that provides two minutes of mez pro/res and end reduction when clicked, and is charged by the Defender primary powers (something like Domination and Defiance).

The latter would be more useful in general, but I'd be happy enough with the former.
Vigilance should give bonus end reduction for being an active defender working similar to Defiance and Fury. The more the defender uses powers, the faster the Vigilance bar fills. But to prevent breaking that system, keep the spamming of only 1 power (think "rocking the aura" or giving 1 peep CM all the time) from stacking more than 2-3 times to fill the bar. Toggles could work by how many are in the affected area. And attacks should fill the bar MORE then just spamming from the primary.

Now back to the OP: give my defenders more damage please!

Case in point: On a recent Posi tf, 2 defenders (me on a sonic/sonic and another, Kin/elec) were blasting away at an even lvl conning lieutant CoT mage with 1/2 HP left. We each landed approx 4 outta 8 attacks, with both of us having Siphon power active on us, and we still couldn't finish it off. Here comes the lvl 12 scrapper and "whack! It is dead with 1 hit!" while we could have each blasted away for a few more attacks before killing it. Sure we were both safe, but WTH with just a little more damage bonus, we could have finished it off.
  19. Make sure that you do Stephanie Peeble's arc in Striga before you hit lvl 26. When you complete that arc you get a renewable temp power called the Wedding Band. It gives resistance but unlike Tough from the fighting pool gives resist to all (but psi, I think) instead of only smashing/ lethal. And the resists from Wedding Band are greater than Tough's. If you miss Stephanie's arc, you can do it thru Ouroborus after you hit 26.
  20. You've sacrificed a lot more accuracy for FSC and Combust with Oblits with less end reduction but greater recharge. The accuracy shouldn't be an issue but endurance issues might creep in.

Also, thinking of the knockback IOs, 3 pts is usually good enough for most of the pve content. Anything that beats 3 pts usually beats 6 pts as well. So, CJ could be leveraged for more defense or used for a set bonus like LotG: +7.5 or Kismet: +acc. Or remove the Steadfast from Plasma Shield and move that slot to Stamina for the Performance Shifter: +end. Then you could also put more PS's in Stamina for more HP.
  21. Ya know, this is a good question these days. With the advent of all the temp travel powers and teleport powers, it is feasible to never take a travel power or push it off till level 30 even as that is the last level till the 40s where no power opens up in primary/ secondary. Given that the flight pack is rechargeable for both sides, use that 1 up first. Villains can buy their flight pack at level 1 but heroes need to wait till level 40 is unfair IMO.
  22. BA, Combustion, and FSC: I would think about using full sets of Multistrikes as lvl 50. You lose some acc from all 3 powers, but gain more end red for Combust and FSC which makes the slight dip in end red from BA a wash IMO. The 1st 3 set bonuses will mean nothing to you, but the last 2 with +def make up for it.

Char: 4 Thunderstrikes- the 3 trips and a Dam/ Rech
Fire Blast: 4 Thunderstrikes- the 3 trips and a Acc/Dam.
More +rec and +def, and you make up for the lost acc in FSC, BA, and Combust.

    Alternately, Basilisk's Gaze in Char.

And surprisingly, I think Fireball is good as is.
  23. Mids just didnt offer it off to just some "random guy." My understanding is, he was too involved in other things in RL to continue on with the project. SO, the Titan Network offered to continue his project. And TN decided who would work on it.
  24. What level are you talking about? Trial accounts are only allowed up to level 14. It might be that you gain xp to when you would get to level 15 but cannot level up because you cannot be level 15.
