  1. I'm 100% supportive of the idea of DP scrappers, but I would also hope that they are somewhat "hybrid" in terms of animations to justify it and make it a more visually diverse set. More like gun-fu, rather than "dual pistols but with melee range".

Wait, who's this person? A friend asking me a question? I check the global and it's nobody I know. So I ignore it and work on filling the team up.
For starters I think it's kind of narcissistic to use the Helper title solely to make your name prettier/different. More than anything else though, it's the above attitude that bothers me the most about this situation. As though politeness is such a rare and valuable commodity that it shouldn't be wasted on the unwashed masses.
  3. AO maybe? I know Archetype has traditionally been abbreviated as AT but it's just one word, makes sense enough to say AO.

Or possibly $O but that's a bit too unsubtle even for me.

This post is unnecessary. I hope you don't think all the people who were against the pack were saying "I hate this but I'll buy them anyway". I imagine it's that sort of rigid thinking that got the idea the go-ahead in the first place.

The fact that I opposed exclusives doesn't necessarily mean that I will be willing to jump through any hoop you put out in order to obtain them. Much more likely I'm going to look at your obstacle course, shake my head, and go elsewhere. Even just making that announcement likely cost them a lot in terms of goodwill and customer loyalty.
  5. These all sound like steps in the right direction, pending final costs and drop chances. I just want to stress how important it is to have the costumes not be exclusive either. Anything other than being available for purchase directly, for 400 PP (even if said purchase is restricted to VIPs or something) is probably not going to go down well.
  6. I know this post was mostly a rhetorical "pat yourself on the back" type thing, but since I'm in the wrong country for the pummit I thought I might as well leave my feedback here.

Well if we're talking strictly in a sense of a shift to the new hybrid model, I like that it has brought back some old friends who stopped playing a while ago.

    What haven’t you liked?
The increasing pressure to spend above and beyond the subscription price, and getting the impression that we as VIPs need to do this to subsidize the new costs of F2P players. Also the VIP reward system (confusion about dates, separate dates for tokens/stipend/server transfers) being overcomplicated and buggy.

What can we do to add even more value to our VIP subscription?
The obvious answer is to stop nickel and diming us to death. Including more powersets and costumes as VIP content as opposed to making everybody pay extra for them. And perhaps most importantly, realising that goodwill is a commodity in and of itself, and that making us feel like VIPs instead of marks will go a long way towards keeping subscription numbers high and subscribers happy.

    Comic Relief

I have always wanted a Tinfoil Hat.
  8. I tend to spread around as much as possible in terms of powersets, but looking over what I've made, and what I've got at 50, Traps pulls noticably ahead. I'm sure there is a reason for this, but I have no idea what it is.
  9. Seeing as we have enough alternate dimension Marcus Coles to encircle the globe, they could always kill off this one and bring in another and attempt to shed the character's baggage that way.

"Hey guys, I'm the new Statesman. I'm just like that last guy, except for all the things about him you didn't like."
  10. Thanks, this also agrees with Chad Gulzow-Man's full market listing which I just remembered about. So, a few people were getting riled up over nothing, apparently.
  11. Currently they're showing up as 1800 for 90, there was a minor disagreement in team about whether the price was raised recently from 1600 for that pack, can anyone confirm?
  12. I'm of the opinion that Dark Miasma should be brought over exactly as is to Controllers. I think it would be very strong, but I don't think it would amount to being overpowered when compared to Rad, Kin or Time.

I'm not saying it would be more or less powerful with the changes mentioned, I'm just not really a fan of changes that seem unnecessary. It also tends to confuse the niches that have been formed for the current sets. And what if a Defender/Corruptor wants Fade or Soul Absorption? It just doesn't make all that much sense to me to do things this way.

IMHO save the new power ideas for the new powersets, come up with new powers to fill in Dark Control/Assault instead. But I'm guessing it's too late to convince anyone otherwise...

If they have to include enhancements, I would rather see a chance for random high end (ie. pool C or purples) or PvP recipes...note that I would still consider this a bad idea, but it would remove the "exclusive" while still remaining highly desirable.

As I said in the main thread, my problem with the idea is the combination of exclusive + random + real money. Obviously they're not going to remove the "real money" aspect, which is why I'm trying to focus on the other two for my feedback. Removing the random is basically selling them in the stores, which is fine with me but goes against the marketing desire for "repeatable" revenue streams.

All that being said, I am not the type that Super Packs are aimed at. The truth is I will probably never buy them regardless of what they contain, exclusives or not, but the way they are handled can and will have an effect on whether I think my subscription is worth maintaining.

Maybe 95% of your complaints. I understand the reasoning behind your assumption - costume pieces are (currently) locked to the account while ATIOs will be tradable on the markets. But there are still problems with the idea of ATIOs being in there. Currently there are 14 ATs, but HEATs and VEATs each share a set, so that comes out to being 12 ATIO sets. 6 enhancements per set, meaning 72 possible enhancements.

Now for an in-game analogue. I don't know if you've experienced this situation, but maybe you've seen the purple RECIPE FOUND text float up on your screen, only to discover that it's the Sleep proc and worth less than some of the uncommon pool A recipes. I have experienced that feeling, and let me tell you that it's horrible. Now imagine if you paid money to experience it.

I haven't verified this personally, it sounds wrong somehow...surely they don't think of customer support as a VIP only perk? If true I agree it's disgraceful, but I would have thought there was an avenue of support for F2P even if VIP gets priority.

Anyway, I'm in the same position. Two VIP accounts, one billing date on the 21st (which expires tomorrow, and I'm not going to renew until this nonsense is sorted out), and the other on the 28th (paid in advance until March). Both got VIP points on the 12th of October, and nothing since then. I got my reward tokens, I think...but there's no easy way to confirm that. Server transfers I don't know or care about, I have no need of them.

It's going on 6 weeks since I last got VIP points, something is clearly wrong here, and nobody on their end seems to realise or care about it. From my perspective all of the VIP reward process is pretty much an unmitigated disaster, and going by forum and global channel responses I'm not alone in this thought.

To be brutally honest, it seems like they're ignoring the existing problems in favour of thinking up new ways of trying to get money out of us. If there was a billing problem on their side of the transaction (eg. people getting VIP access without getting charged) I'm sure they would drop everything to fix it ASAP, and I would agree with that. But when the problem is on our side, it's ok to leave it unaddressed for months?

ONE SOLID FACT: Team Up Teleporter (LFG queue) will work inside door missions, and has other unspecified improvements to encourage using it. Courtesy of twitter.
Best news all day, if true.
  17. I have two VIP accounts, one billing date is 21st, the other is 28th, the last record of either of them getting VIP points was the 12th of October. I'm also beginning to question the value of a service that doesn't deliver anything on time, or worse tries to convince me that I'm not owed anything.
  18. (another Justice player here)
The thing about that particular rumor is that it was said by someone who is a long standing player and actually tries to help people in the Help channel, so it was unlikely to be a troll or anything like that.

But I also check the community/dev digests fairly regularly and I couldn't remember anything along those lines. I also went back a few pages in both and couldn't find anything, so I'm guessing they were just misinformed about the dev post.

That being said, it would not surprise me at all if the notion had crossed the dev's minds. I would strongly disagree with the idea, but it wouldn't surprise me.
  19. I can confirm this, I was trying to get the defeat badge for Failed Experiments but I was under total power suppression when inside the ghoul base. I was able to advance it by using Lore pets outside and heading back in, but 5 minutes wasn't enough to clear the rest of it.
  20. Considering it's been well over a month since I got any points from my VIP stipend, I don't have enough to throw away on vanity items like this.
  21. Perhaps a better way of summing up my own feelings on the matter is that I want a villain who is logical. I despise the "insane madman" type of villain, I've always seen it as a narrational cop-out, the type of bad guy who does what the plot needs, just because it's the opposite of what good guys do.

The type of villain I want is the one who plans. "This is what I want, this is how I'm going to get it, and this is what I'm going to do to you if you get in my way", kind of thing. I consider the best example of this in game to be old-school Nemesis - by "old school" I mean the old contact missions before the newer writers started trying to use him as wacky automaton comic relief.
  22. The poll in question was this one, and to be honest that was one of the most exciting periods in CoH's development. Right now we're at a point where the developers seem to ignore feedback entirely. I know they don't, but there are a bunch of dubious examples from recent patches that can be cited as evidence. That poll was the first (and last?) time when players were genuinely consulted about the direction of the game, and it's sad that we never got that kind of connectivity with the development team again.
  23. I have two accounts, both VIP which haven't lapsed since Freedom launched, billing dates are the 21st and 28th, and according to my billing summary the last points I got from the VIP stipend were on October 12th, for both accounts.

So I'm pretty much completely confused by when I should be getting points. My understanding is that the initial Freedom announcement (when the VIP stipend was tallied from) was in June, meaning June/July/August/September points were already included? But points in October were either my September points late, or my October points early?

It's a little depressing that the only part of this whole thing that seems to be working flawlessly and transparently is the part where they take my money.

    Any chance?

I was under the impression that Titan Weapons (and MoM trial) were not actually part of 21.5 and were just being tested alongside it.

Anyway, my opinion is that it's unlikely to be 21.5 because they've mostly deployed issue updates on Tuesdays. That isn't to say it's impossible, and I would very much like to be wrong, I'm just guessing that it's unlikely.
  25. The most skippable powers in /Traps are Detonator, Triage Beacon and Trip Mine (approximately in that order, depending on your playstyle). Everything else is must have, IMHO.
