I wasn't really asking from a story standpoint, more of a technical one. Since Wade is a contact with a badge on redside, plus he's an information waypoint for a few other arcs (Mercedes Sheldon and I think Vincent Ross, possibly more), and he's referenced in at least one redside tip mission (Darrin Wade's Wishlist). While he's obviously not at a Statesman level of exposure in the game lore there's still quite a lot of things that will be affected by his absence.
-
I'm sure someone at Paragon has thought of this, but with all the talking about removing Statesman from the game nobody has mentioned Wade himself. He's quite clearly gone past the point of no return, and I'm sure everyone on blueside and quite a lot of redside isn't going to stand around idly while he threatens to end all of existence. But when all of this comes to a close, he can't just be hanging around giving out his arc with passing villains patting him on the back and saying "better luck next time".

I suppose I haven't been following the Letter Writer speculation much, but since I don't remember reading any speculation that actually got it correct, I'd hardly call it an "obvious" choice. Looking back on the clues now that I know the answer makes me wonder why I didn't suspect him earlier, but at the same time he's never really been foremost on people's minds. I suppose the main thing is that as a character who has never made an in-game appearance before, his exposure is limited to the people who actually read the background stuff.

My own #1 request for spandex-related costumes is fairly simple. I want a "tights with skin" option that can be colored white without blending with lighter skin tones.
For reference, if you take a female character, use any basic tights with skin option and color the skin and all clothes pure white, everything is exactly the same tone. I would like them to be distinguishable, bonus points if this can be worked in to include a "tights sleek" look for all skin options.
As far as the A/B/C poll posted earlier, I guess my request would fit into A or B easily enough. -
Can anyone confirm whether Microfilaments in slowing powers like Snow Storm are nerfed too? I'm assuming yes...but it would be a shame since Microfilaments pretty much have little to no use otherwise.

Both of those packs look like day 1 purchases for me, pending some disaster with regards to implementation. Kudos to the artists, let's hope the models turn out just as nice.

Officially, the "only 100 Knives of Artemis in the world" angle has been dismissed, as per this quote:Quote:
When the Knives of Artemis were first encountered, it was suspected that they were a small group of only 70, or perhaps 100 individuals. Obviously their ranks have expanded since the Rikti War as more broken or disillusioned women were adopted into their ranks and hardened. -
As far as respecs on the WST go, I don't know if it's possible but I would like to see them consolidated. That is, rather than having "24-34 Respec" it would just have "Respec Trial" and you can do any level range to count for it.
I understand that the lead up missions are technically different each time, but the meat of the trial is always the same, and having it come up so often is kinda killing motivation for a lot of people.
Considering we're coming up to a full year since the WST mechanic was introduced, and respecs have been on the list for 9 of those 12 months, I just think more variety would keep people a bit more interested. -
New Year's Pack is 3 emotes, 1 costume change emote, and 1 aura, according to this thread. It seems a little..."party pack v2" to me, but I don't know how much it costs or how any of it looks.

I've never actually bothered with calculating optimal DPS chains, but my understanding is that your highest priority is Follow Up to maintain the damage buff, and then use the highest Damage Per Activation Time attacks you've got depending on what is recharged. For Night Widows, that makes your priority list look something like this:
Follow Up > Lunge > Slash > Strike > Swipe
The amount of recharge you have will determine exactly how far down the sequence you need to go before it starts repeating.
NB - This is all without considering the endurance requirements, which may impact performance. -
Longbow Wardens get their powers from various types of super serums, there are a few missions that make reference to this, plus I think the description text on a couple of variants does too. I'm reasonably sure there is no mutation involved, but I guess a side effect of some of the serums is unnatural skin tones?

Quote:I absolutely agree that this is a problem.
- 2- Far too often when a MOM, Underground, or TPN gets organized there is a glut of level 50 characters that join aboard to either experience something new, or to leech the increased rewards from higher tier trials, and both motivations invariably cause a disproportionate amount of these trials to fail. This happens despite requests for characters to be level shifted to +2 minimum.
Quote:There was a proposal on Beta server to lessen the rewards of BAF and LAM at some point in a character's career and force them to move up the Incarnate content food chain so that they could properly progress. Oh how I wish this had happened. The more difficult trials NEED characters that have developed to a certain point of power in the incarnate system to properly contribute, but there is a chasm between the current state of Incarnate content and where it needs to be for a healthy end game. What should be a linear progression towards more difficult trials with the option to return to older content has become an incessant grind fest of the easiest content at the detriment of gaming experience and long term VIP retention.
Quote:Is there any way to fix this?
1. Scrap the idea of level shifted AVs. Difficulty should be in the mechanics of the fight, not the numbers or modifiers.
2. Increase rewards on the harder trials. They say that there is an increased chance for rare/v.rare components on them, but this isn't enough. Going through all of TPN for an uncommon component feels like you got robbed. Rewards need to be tangibly better somehow, not just vague assurances.
3. Let us see how many incarnate shifts a player has before actually getting in to the trial.
4. Make the Team Up Teleporter less awful, to facilitate easier PUGs.
As far as what we as players can do to fix the problem, I would say not much. It's difficult to change people's perceptions, especially when they're not interested in listening. -
Quote:He actually shows up in Viridian's arc too. Similar to Tub Ci he doesn't really do anything, but there you go.*Seb Frost. Sebastian Frost is supposed to be godfather of the Family, and I assume that applies to both the Paragon City and Etoile Islands branches. Playing through the hero game, you'd almost think the Family don't HAVE a leader. The villain game is a bit better, giving us the power struggle between Emil Marcone and Guido Verandi, but Seb Frost is only mentioned once, and that's only because one NPC in one mission is his nephew. This guy needs a much bigger role in the game. The Family in general needs a much bigger role in the game. They are a very serious, very efficient organised crime ring that has existed for... What, 100 years now? We need to know that.
As for old plot threads, I still want to know what's up with Lady Grey, and to a lesser extent Dark Watcher. -
As far as "forced to fail" goes, I think it's really #3 that is the kick in the teeth for heroes. The only way for them to set up that situation is for heroes to be completely suckered in by the most obvious set up in history - you can't even really wave it away by considering that players are "genre savvy", it's just heroes ignoring common sense for no reason.
#1 is fine IMHO, the fact that the evil mastermind has a backup plan doesn't change the outcome of the individual situation - Synapse saved, obelisk destroyed, Lost thwarted.
#2 resulted in some information, which is really more of a consolation prize in the grand scheme of things. Otherwise, Tommy Arcanus was saved, Numina was never really in any danger, and I'm pretty sure the Rulu-Shin got basically nothing out of the whole ordeal. It's entirely possible that the arc was all a smoke screen for Darrin Wade's true intentions which might be revealed in a later arc, but if anything I'd call this one a wash.
#4 I don't remember them actually saying that "Evil Aurora" is now in control. The impression that I got is that she was free inside Sister's mind to cause a bit of mischief, but there was nothing to actually suggest that Sister Psyche was incapacitated at all as a result of the encounter. Again, it's possible this was another smoke screen situation, going by Malaise's attitude throughout the encounter, but I don't think the status quo is affected quite as badly as you think.
#5 definitely sounds like it's going to be another "forced to fail" situation, but I'll say we should probably wait to reserve judgement until after we've played the arc.
So all in all, I think it's not as bad as you want to think. It may very well get that bad, but calling doom in this situation is a little premature. -
Quote:I've got characters of all alignments who have done trial content, so far all of them have gotten Dimensional Warder badge progress. Furthermore, Null the Gull gives the progress check dialogue to anyone, regardless of alignment, so I suspect everything except MoM is working correctly.Could it be because his toon was a pure villain and they are not 'meant' to be able to get the badge? Mine was a rogue, so progress on the badge was started during Marias arc.
I was mostly asking if anyone had heard anything from the developers regarding the intentions behind MoM, whether they had confirmed one way or the other, or whether they were even aware there was a problem. -
Quote:I've got Cognitive Radial T4 on my main incarnate, and to be honest I'm not sure if it's really all that good. The main thing it has going for it is the DoT that isn't Reactive, but otherwise...As with all Interface powers, it only procs in powers that allow damage enhancements to be slotted. The conditional VFX for the power look similar to the classic purple dots "confused" look, but they are a bit brighter/stand out a bit more. The duration of this effect is affected by level mods - so using it against level 54 enemies will only work for very brief periods of time, while using it on enemies lower than your level will bring the duration over 4 seconds. Hope that clears up any confusion on how the power works.
1. Confuse proc is low % and miniscule duration on anything that matters.
2. Psionic DoT damage numbers are lower than others besides Degenerative.
3. Psionic damage is strongly resisted by IDF, which make up a majority of all trial enemies.
Thematically I like it more than Reactive but from a mechanical standpoint I can't see anything to really recommend it unless all the other DoT types are accounted for and maxed out on a league. This is all regarding team performance, solo I believe it is even weaker since its main draw is irrelevant. -
I always thought it was a little lame that Desdemona gets the mask in UGT when my villains are in the trial. At the very least I'd like her to have to elbow me out of the way during the cutscene.

In general, I hate getting every PPD contact who is inside the station. I hate having to go through those doors every time, and I hate that I can't choose or switch. I also hate getting brokers redside who are way out in the middle of nowhere (Winston the Gent, I'm looking at you here).
-
That's an assumption, I don't think in the context of WWD he's ever been forthcoming about his motives. Darrin Wade has one huge transparent motive which may or may not be related to WWD (not going to spoil anything here, but I'm talking about what he says at the end of his mid-level villain arc) but I don't think personal power has ever come into it.

Just wanted to point out, Super Packs are not an "innovative new idea". Many other MMOs have already tried it, including our (I think less-successful) direct competitor. To me, that's enough of a reason to err on the side of caution - you should always be keeping an eye on what the competition is doing, but if you're pulling ahead then the #1 lesson you can learn from them is what pitfalls to avoid. You shouldn't be trying to mimic their behaviour.

After some investigation, it appears it's not possible to perfectly replicate the Night Widows, since it seems they use an alternate pattern on their gloves and waist capes. That is, unless the ones standing behind Ghost Widow in GV are special in some way, since I was using them as a reference.
On the plus side, Mistresses aren't too hard and I was able to copy them without too much trouble. -
When I started my Widow out I went to painstaking length to copy the exact colors used by Fortunata Seers, since there is no "standard issue" version for Widows that I could find. I was a bit bored the other day and looking to expand my potential uniform options, so I attempted to recreate the Fateweaver/Arbiter look and the results were somewhat unimpressive. I'm not even sure players have access to the same reflectivity options since I wasn't able to match it no matter what I tried, but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone else was able, and if possible to request a costume save file to work from.
While I'm here, also looking for the color schemes used by the Fortunata Mistresses, and the Night Widows, if anyone could provide me with a guide or a costume save file for these it would be much appreciated. -
I think what bothers me the most about the "one pistol per unlock" thing is that there is no "Single pistol" powerset. Literally the only people who are able to use it are dual wielding pistols, so it's silly to make them do it twice just for the sake of "realism". If we were talking realistic, there would be two total, and it would never drop again. It seems the line is drawn completely arbitrarily.
Also I am a firm believer in the "all costume unlocks should be global" mantra, for the sake of concept characters and overall options. I don't even like the idea of unlockable costume pieces (not talking about store stuff, that's a whole separate debate, I just mean Roman pieces, Rulaaru stuff, etc), but if they must be locked then I think it's much more equitable to make it account-wide. That ship has sailed though, unfortunately. -
Finally got a chance to join a MoM trial today and cleared it (huzzah). It was a lot of fun but I noticed that there was no progress on my Dimensional Warder badge on a pure villain. Just wondering, is this intentional? Not 100% sure whether Malaise is done, but it seems that the defeat of Mother Mayhem at least was pretty decisive, and as far as I know pure villains can't fight her anywhere else.
I suppose I was under the impression that the whole Going Rogue/Praetoria storyline would give pure villains a chance to get Dimensional Warder, since we're at 7/14 available between RWZ TFs and incarnate trials, and MoM was the logical place to fit in a couple more.
Either way, thumbs up for the MoM trial from me. -
For staff I'd like to see a guan dao, similar to a naginata but much thicker.
Titan weapons, I'd like to see a few more "generic blunt object" options. Like, a steel girder, or a tree trunk....but I expect they'd look a bit weird with the standard grip so I'm not sure if they're acceptable options.
