This games playerbase is not essentially that different to most other games. Other games have their nice people and their idiots just like we do and as much as you may find this hard to believe, the relative numbers of each group is probably about the same.
To me it seems that most of the...less desirable personalities of this game don't post on the forums very often (if at all). These forums are quite a bit more tame than other game's forums--in game is a different story, though.
  2. Pre-I13 PvP.

    And making OP characters.
  3. PvP wasn't as imbalanced as some people seem to think. Different ATs performed better against other ATs. While some were outclassed or just not good (mostly the epic ATs), PvP was still great fun. Unfortunately, I13 butchered the PvP community on my server.

    Confessions

Well, I guess it doesn't matter much anymore (don't perma ban me thrice. Please):

I'm Crimsanotic from Guardian. I've been perma banned twice and am currently using my third account.

I founded the PK SQU4DR0N (with eVolutions X) and together with the rest of our SG we used to crash The Hive to dupe HOs. Just to smite people (well, not really) we only did this during Hami raids (actually, we didn't). Unfortunately, or fortunately, all of those duped HOs are either on banned accounts or inactive accounts.

I've also spawned Kronos Titan in The Hive during a Hami Raid. Twice.

Also, when RV first came out, if you went there as a hero and then left you were still flagged for PVP. While my SG and I are not the sole reason this was fixed, we did nuke AP with our Blasters a few times.

P.S. it's been about five years since I've been banned, temp or otherwise.
  6. How many times has a closing MMO been sold? Once? NCsoft's decision shouldn't be a surprise.

Not looking desperate by not spamming people with "save our game!" and come up with an actual argument as to why these people should be compelled to do so?
  9. I think some of the ideas, like spamming emails to people like Gaben and Penny Arcade are silly and just overall look completely unprofessional and antithesis to the cause.

While it would be nice if some miracle happened and CoH were saved, I don't believe anything like that will happen.

But I won't stop telling people to quit doing whatever they're doing, not because I think their efforts are useless but because THAT effort would be useless.

GW2 is definitely a fantasy game, there's no arguing that (just to be clear, the below is not a response to you).

What I find astounding is the amount of butthurt in this thread. Several people have said GW2 is just another "generic fantasy MMO." Which is pretty funny because it's not.

First, I didn't play CoH because I like the setting (I do like superheroes, though), I played CoH because it's a good game. To me, and pretty much all of my friends, it's not about the setting of the game, it's about whether or not the game is good.

GW1, which plays absolutely nothing like, say, WoW, is still a fantasy game, but they're nothing alike gameplay wise. GW1 and GW2 are also nothing alike gameplay wise. Conversely, GW2 is nothing like WoW gameplay wise. It's great that so many people say GW2 is another generic MMO, when they seem to have never even looked up any information on the game, nevermind actually bothering to play it to see if it's a good game.

And yeah, it sucks that NCsoft is shutting down CoH, but attacking someone because they're playing another NCsoft game, especially with the hollow claims that populate most of this thread, you just look pooper peeved as opposed to actually trying to boycott NCsoft (which is a ridiculous goal in the first place).

    Butt doctor's verdict:
    Butt frustrated.

  12. Why has no one said this?

    PVP in GW2.

    CoX Emu anyone?

You're supposed to keep private servers, you know, private.
  14. Not that the OP said this, but some people seem to think that CoH2 would be an expansion to CoH, or something. Take a look at every MMO that has gotten a sequel. The sequel and the first game are NOTHING alike! Now, this is generally because both the first game and the sequel are out at the same time and there's no point in having two MMOs that are exactly the same, except one is old and the other is new.

If a CoH2 ever came out, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were, like every other MMO sequel, a completely different game. So, if a CoH2 ever did come out, I might not play it because it would probably be bad, but I would definitely try it out.
  15. Do these guys need to be high poly before they're printed (or whatever)?

But he just said you CAN still buy things on the store, so it doesn't matter what's implied.
  17. You could still find the Collector's Edition of Tabula Rasa in stores even a month after the game shut down and you could find copies of Asheron's Call 2's expansion pack for an additional year after the game was shut down.

Hard copies of City of Heroes may be hard to find simply because they probably stopped shipping them out awhile ago (when the game went F2P), but if you looked hard enough you could still find some. Most likely at stores that carry a lot of games.
  18. What do you need UVW wrapping for in regards to this?
  19. If Dark Millennium ends up being a multi-player co-op RPG (and also good), I'll probably be doing that and Borderlands 2 for my multi-player fix.

    As for actual MMOs? None.

Haha, no, I definitely am all too familiar with actually letting people know what I think of them (a GM has told me my in-game account has "quite a history"), and it was more of a joke that I could just be a total butthead without the fear of being perma banned, since the game is being shut down anyways.

You know, not that I've ever been perma banned before.

    Multiple times.

    Or anything.
  21. What I like about this game is that it actually seems you guys (the developers) care that this game is going away. I played Asheron's call 2, which was also shut down, and maybe they just weren't allowed to say anything since Turbine still exists, they were just shutting down the game, but seeing the good bye letters and the possible AMA lore edition is very...cool.

I've played this game for just a little over eight years (just a few days, actually), and it is definitely very sad to see it go.

Time to bust out the War Walker costume codes now, right?
