Perhaps I've been very unlucky, but I haven't received a shard drop yet. Doesn't seem too fast to me...
  2. Strangely enough, my Ice/Ice blaster got killed by Trapdoor this morning. I was using my standard tactic to lure him into the lava. I had Frozen Armor and two medium purples, and he proceeded to hit me every time. Just stupidly bad luck. The second time around, I wiped him out easily.

Why is that weird? I play three different MMOs solo. This game has far more content than any single player game that I'd like, it's quite soloable from 1 to 50, and it's a great superhero game.

Soloable incarnate content would be nice, along with the TFs and raids, but I'm not really concerned about that. End game stuff doesn't really interest me.

Ha ha. No. The manga started first, and ran for 38 volumes. The anime sticks pretty close to around say the first half of the manga, but is sillier and has a number of silly filler episodes. For less silliness but still a lot of humor, and much more of the story, read the manga. But the anime is fun to watch too. Even though the anime lasted for seven seasons, it ended long before the manga did.

Ranma 1/2 is my all-time favorite manga, with Urusei Yatsura a close second, and Claymore my current favorite.

(Sadly, Viz didn't get too far into the Urusei Yatsura manga before cancelling the US distribution.)
  5. Chirality? I've only seen that in Japan.

    As usual, I'll recommend Claymore.

I just finished reading Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles. I'm not sure I would recommend that one. It's very interesting, but it's mind-bogglingly convoluted. CLAMP went way overboard on the plot complexity. (Ironically, by far the least complicated main character is the big ninja guy.)
  6. I fought Trapdoor three times now, and each time I simply lured him into the lava and clobbered him. Granted it helps a lot that all of my level 50 characters have Hover. I can fight Trapdoor and then talk to him without worrying about taking damage from the lava.

My Inv/SS tanker didn't even bother using inspirations. I just turned on Unstoppable and that was plenty.

All except the Trapdoor mission. For some reason, the first EB fight can't be auto-completed.

And of course I disagree with EvilGeko. IMO, all these missions should be able to be auto-completed. People will have plenty of opportunity for stuff that can't be auto-completed in the TFs.

I'm aware of that, and I use it. (Thanks, previous post fixed.) It's too tiny of a heal to be helpful to me. I picked up Aid Self in a respec yesterday though, thanks to inherent Fitness. That should help reduce the downtime at least.
  9. Electric/Energy brute. Mediocre defense with notable holes and a very weak self heal, and subpar damage for my style of play. I was hoping to find ways to compensate, since the combination does have nice status effect protection, but I just got tired of trying. Interestingly, my Stone/Energy brute does great, but she gets good damage mitigation from her primary. I set the difficulty on my Electric/Energy to -1/1, which is an improvement, but I still don't play her much. I'm sure I'm one of very few players who actually doesn't like Lightning Rod.

I was never particularly fond of Kheldians. I like my Peacebringer, weak though she is, but I play my Warshade very rarely. Warshades just don't work for me.

You can buy it for Vanguard credits in the Vanguard base.

Ironically, the Curse of Weariness would be the least of my worries in that mission. By level 50, my characters have great endurance management. I was hit with the Curse when I tried the mission during beta testing (with a Fire/Fire brute), and it didn't bother me at all. But I make liberal use of endurance reduction enhancements.
  11. As always, it will depend on how popular the new content is. They're obviously looking at the WoW style of endgame, with challenging team/raid content. That might draw a lot of players back to the game for a long time to come, because a lot of players have expressed an interest in the WoW-style end game stuff.

On the other hand, if the new Incarnate content can't keep CoH players interested, the devs might want to make the content accessible for more casual players (like me). Otherwise they'd just have to stop supporting it, because it wouldn't be cost effective for them. So if you want to keep the content challenging, your best bet is to help energize the playerbase, forming teams and taking on that new content often.

I won't mind if they stick with the TF/raid plan for Incarnates. I have plenty of other stuff in the game to keep me busy.

I plan to play pretty much the same as always. Lots of alts. I have a couple level 50 characters I still play fairly frequently, but the rest are mostly retired. The Incarnate system doesn't give me much of an extra incentive to play at 50, since all the Incarnate mission content after the introduction will be in the form of TFs and raids. I don't do TFs and raids due to my extreme teaming shyness. (I'm very introverted.)

It will take me a long time to make boosts for the Alpha slot, due to my altitis, and all they'll do for me is to allow me to go through the standard missions a little faster. Whee. No hurry on that.
  13. Hey, I'd be right there with you... if not for my teaming deficiency.

*does more missions, hoping for shards to drop*
  14. My favorite character Yukihime is approximately pronounced like the English words "you key he may".

This was not a matter of the devs reducing the difficulty due to players complaining about the difficulty.

It was bugged. The bug got fixed.

Yes, if you've got your recharge up that high, Ill/Rad is godlike before even beginning with the Incarnate stuff. You are an overpowered tankmage. My level 50 Ill/Rad doesn't have recharge anywhere near that high, and she still pwns any elite boss she runs into without needing to use any inspirations.

Note that Forbin's science officer will now be taking extra damage from enemies returning fire up his rear. (Really. It's part of the game design.)

The basic issue of his argument is that the mission can be incredibly annoying due to the mechanic of the humongous Rikti horde (and note that it's a horde that offers no rewards). Techbot did manage to defeat the elite bosses, so his tactics worked out in the end, and he didn't need help. He didn't manage to complete the mission only because he got disconnected at the end.

(Personally, I have no complaint against the annoying aspects of the mission, as long as I can auto-complete the mission.)

I was able to auto-complete the Honoree mission last night, and I was also able to auto-complete the finale in beta testing. However, I couldn't auto-complete the Trapdoor mission.

I think that, even solo, it shouldn't be all that onerous.
That would be nice. I don't have nearly that many Vanguard merits on hand, but I could always get lucky with the shard drops.

I agree with that. Lady Grey does give you good warning that things will get nasty. And since the previous mission featured an EB fight, the warning should should be enough to leave you expecting a real challenge.

*cackle* BWA HA HA HA HA!!!! *snort*
Well, that's just part of your nature as an Evil geko.

But I wouldn't be "reminded of my failure", because for me there's no failure in skipping content that I don't like. I don't consider myself a failure because I don't go into the PvP zones, and I don't consider myself to be a failure because I don't do TFs. If I couldn't auto-complete those missions, I simply wouldn't bother with the Incarnate stuff at all. As it is, I don't expect to get much of anything out of the system anyway.
