Quote:I have an elec/shield scrapper (intending to use a tower shield but not really finding one available) of a very similar name (tower of power had gone on the server I was on). Yes that was made after listening to the Zappa song.Sorry to hear about that incident. I know they're a Sixties soul band, and I remember the video game too, but the first thing I think of when I see the phrase "tower of power" is the Frank Zappa song, "Bobby Brown (Goes Down)".
No, not posting a link to that one. You'll have to find it yourself. -
I put mine in frozen aura on my /ice tank, and it does help basically as extra regen.
-
I'm torn, TopDoc is of course right in what he says, but would it encourage people to actually use the mid level IOs and then replace them with 50s later, meaning the mid level market might actually function a bit better ?

Quote:4 of us started the Renault, which went down to 3 after about 30 seconds.I'm not sure what was happening early, but we started a BSF at around 10:30pm AEDT that went to just under 3 hours.
There was also an Operative Renault SF happening at the same time that went well by all accounts.
We went through it with no problems at all and very few deaths (the only one I remember was after we'd killed the eye cleaning up the ambushes). Finished in about 90 mins with 2 brutes and a /thermal corruptor too low level to have any of the debuffs.
I'm inclined to run an Ice mistral next week if anybody is interested. -
The problem is not with the energy drain itself, but the fact that it's autohit, meaning that you WILL have your end drained every time. If they had one that required a to-hit check it would be a bit fairer as you could use either your powers or insps to avoid some of them.

Quote:It will work zoomed out provided you set the distance high enough
Does that work when you're zoomed out, though? I played with the setting some time ago, and couldn't notice it having any effect, but I usually keep the camera zoomed out almost as much as possible, and if it only works when the camera is "close" then it didn't help. -
Remember if the pulsing of some personal toggles screws you up, you can suppress close FX so that you don't see it. I do this on my toons so I can see thru the auras.

Quote:If you skip the taunt aura in WP, you skip most of the mitigation in the set, very silly. If you skip the taunt aura in /SR (yes the brute version has one) you are missing one of your key defensive toggles, if you skip the taunt aura in FA or DA, you are missing out on a power that can do 40+ a click, great for mowing down mobs.Personnaly, i've never picked taunt, and almost always skipped the taunt aura to save end.
The taunt aura gets you aggro and thus fury and is also a key part of most of the sets.
Not usually sensible to skip it unless you're intending spending your time soloing pylons/AVs. -
Quote:The PvP zone patrol temp stealth items also stack nicely with superspeed.I've used the base empowerment buff for stealth instead of dropping cash for a Stealth IO.
I had great success running Posi with a Kat/WP (which a attributed DA to keeping me alive more than WP) and also a Fire/Shield with build up early on to make FSC a killer. -
Level 33 is the absolute worst level to stop at for posi, but I suppose for the market project you have to.
Because of the way exemping affects IOs, a 33 has the enhancements scaled down by the same amount as a 50, and has less slots and the IOs available have lower bonuses.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Exempl...n_Enhancements for details
I'd float Kat/SR as a possibility, you can probably cap melee def with only one application of DA, and (a trick you also use on /SD), you overslot your click mez protection with 4 or 5 SOs as I believe the exemping bites before ED. Also overslot your defences for defence for the same reason.
I use a perma 17 blaster with Lvl 20 SOs to duo posi, and superspeed plus a -KB IO and an unbounded leap +stealth in sprint are the key IOs. -
My SS/(riot)shield brute Pink Patrol would heve to get Pretty in pink - psychedelic furs
Any MA scrapper should go with Somebody gonna get their head kicked in tonight - the Rezillos.
Psychosis safari my Mind/rad troller was named after her theme tune (80s matchbox B line disaster, the video that was ripped off for QotSA go with the flow)
Not exactly a theme tune, but was doing Doc Buzzsaw's arc about repossessing spare bodyparts when Gary Gilmore's eyes by the Adverts came on, that felt a bit surreal. -
Quote:Seconded, I used the server transfers to get some of my less played 50s off my home server, leaving me with now 3 free slots out of 36 on Victory for GR, but no free slots on any other server (although I can buy more on the others). I refuse to get a second account as the veteran rewards make the low level game so much more enjoyable.*channeling my inner Princess Leia*
Help me, CoH Devs, you're my only hope!
I have 3 pages of toons on Champion server. I need ONE MORE! Make it an even number
Make it 4. Give me another 12 slots that I can spend my money on and make new toons and have more fun! I've used the server xfers to move the toons that i'm not playing and gave them a good home on Guardian. But I'm making more.. and I dont have enough room.
Please help me! Help me feed my addiction. Help me stay on Champion! Help me help YOU!!!
With love and affection and utmost dedication to Champion,
AngieB
The other issue with playing on every server is that 10 global channels are just not enough, but that's for another thread. -
I would very much like this to stay, unless the game goes serverless.
I had 36 slots in use on Victory. I used the free transfers to move some 50s that I play rather more rarely off to other servers. All my slots are now in use on other servers (although I can buy more there) and I have a little space on Victory for GR.
Next time I fill up, I'm not sure what I will do as I don't PL, so have an attachment to my 50s and am very disinclined to delete them. While I don't mind buying the slots to move them to, having to pay to transfer each one is going to be too much. -
Quote:It was won by almost exactly the length of time we had to wait for lili to recover from a crash. We felt it would be a bit mean to do the last mish without one toon. But yes, MMs are a bit of a liability on the last mish (pets KBd off the platform dragging half the map with them on their way back up).Had a ball last night folks.
For anyone keeping score there was two racing Silver Mantis runs (won by @Redoubt's team, something of a surprise as @Lili is an expert at this one) followed by a very convenient Arachnos Flier spawn (Heat Seeker at last!) and a 3rd Respec Trial.
Next week will be a Barracuda Strike Force - more details posted closer to the start time.
BSF not a favourite of mine, and my only 45+ is a stalker that I marketeer much more than I play, so would be interested in running an Operative Renault alongside the BSF if we have people over from a BSF but not enough for 2. -
I actively marketeer with 3 toons, one varies wildly, but makes say 200-300M in a normal week (it was a LOT more over the christmas period), another makes a little less than that, and the third I log on less often, so it varies a huge amount how much he makes as I bid very low and his turnover is low, but he made 100M last night.

Pleasure demon, a succubus, so she'll get a lot more action than me

Not an oceanic, brit who plays in the mornings which just happens to be Aussie prime time.
Terminal altoholic, plays on all servers, where I have a grand total of 3 free slots out of my 36 on Victory and all other servers are full unless I buy more slots. 66 month vet.
Full time student at home, old enough to be the dad of a normal student. -
If your PBAoE does knockdown (tremor), 5 sciroccos for the AoE def and a force feedback chance of +rech. Fault gets 5 stupefy and the force feedback. Note that this proc does not work properly in the teleport attacks as they summon a pet.

Quote:Slot 2 interrupt reductions in aid self and you won't get it interrupted often.Yeah, if you're in a situation where you need Aid Self, you'll probably have mobs getting through your defenses somehow (unless you really want to bravely, bravely run a long ways away), so you'll not want it interrupted.
In all honesty for my Shield Tank, it was a toss up between Tough and Aid Self. I went with Tough, as it gives you a bit more reaction time if your defenses have been compromised (you can jump out of that mob of Romans, have longer to pop OWTS or an orange inspiration, etc.), but I did wish I could have both. -
Quote:My fire/fire blaster blitzed thru the late 20s in DA street sweeping, BP are perfectly killable for a solo blaster provided you practise on -1/-2s until you work out what you're doing and move up to 0/+1s. The other key thing is if you don't like your inspiration selection, kill an easy group to restock it and use insps in large quantities. You will earn some nice mid range arcane salvage too.Very little actually RESISTS fire, but there's only a few mobs who are truly vulnerable to it. Early levels Vahz are quite weak to it and in mid-levels the Banished Pantheon are also weak to fire. I hadn't known about the Redcaps, but they're bordering on overpowered already so I'm not sure they're the best choice for a solo blaster.
I'd say just find groups that you don't find actively annoying to fight and you'll be fine; after all doing 10% more damage to a specific group doesn't matter much if said group tends to send you to the floor quickly anyway. Ban Pan could fall into that category with all the mez they throw around. -
Well you've already tried the combinations I'd have tried.
SS/WP and ElM/shield are two of the best with a fairly minimal investment (I don't slot purples and not always top flight sets).
ElM/shield I did as a scrapper, and only nemesis and DE gave me a problem. The defence debuff resist issue can be overcome with HOs (your mez prot will take def/rech type HOs and these will enhance your debuff resist, it also stacks with itself) although I haven't bothered. I pwn Cimerorans and have no issues even with the lower scrapper hits. If the lack of ST damage worries you, set to no bosses solo.
To get your big AoEs up faster, footstomp, and thunderstrike love the Force feedback chance of +rech (it doesn't work properly in the teleport attacks).
I did ElM/EA on a stalker and have successfully "tanked" SFs on that. EA is very easy (but not cheap with the kinetic combats) to softcap by the mid 30s.
Also remember that you can seriously up your AoE damage from your epic, so if you've judged a set by the mid 30s, you may be a tad premature (there are some good ST punches in there too). -
Second hand, I'm told that it can be awkward speccing a cold for both solo and team and doing both well. Dual builds may be the way to go, leaving the ally buffs out of your solo build, taking more other stuff and bunging the decent IOs in whichever you use more.
Not sure I've ever seen a cold/arrow but should work, mine is cold/rad specced for support. I dislike psi as an assault set, but haven't totally figured out why, just feels slow I think. -
I can recommend ElM/EA as a stalker, the assassin strike helps ElM's slightly weak ST damage, and lightning rod doesn't break hide
, the ST damage is not the best on a brute for soloing AVs.
I wouldn't recommend EM on a brute as it's so sub par AoE wise in teams.
Mace is fine since the upgrades (more or less a smashing version of axe), so either of those will work. Stone melee will also work and give you some nice mitigation in crowd scenes (although not great AoE damage), plus a good ST punch. -
Quote:A fire/nrg blaster would be OK, the point being that you can get ludicrous amounts of global recharge meaning aim, BU fireball etc recharge fast, and enough recovery to power this. You can do similar with some scrappers. As is pointed out in later posts, the missions would be set for 2 not 3.The Positron Task Force contains 17 missions. Estimating 30 seconds in between missions to take into consideration the time it takes to get from mission to mission means you will be spending 8 minutes on travel time. Assuming that you had 1 hour to complete it and 52 minutes after traveling that would allow you about 3:00 per mission. Regardless of soloing the minimal spawn size will be set for 3 people. There are 4 defeat all mission spawned for 3 people which will consume the bulk of the time and an Elite Boss at in the last mission. Most of the other missions are easily sprinted except for rescuing the FEMA workers which can be stealthed but the hostages must still be brought back though the mobs to the door. Additionally, the gold challenge time requirements for a Posi is 2 hours or less. They have yet to add a platinum challenge for 1 hour or less.
What I would like to know is what purple out 50 can solo this in under an hour?
My toon is far from perfect for this (perma 17 fire/nrg with a full set of 20 SOs plus stealth and -KB IOs). I can't solo it that fast because I run out of end (about 2.5 hours), but can duo it fast. My regular duo partners are another fire blaster and an arch/mental.
One of the major advantages a 50 has is being able to carry 20 insps. If doing this with a second account, you leave the second toon at posi or Azuria.
The FEMA workers, I run to the end, do rollister, free the first worker, deal with the ambush, lead him to the second worker avoiding the mobs I can, free the second, swallow 4 purple insps and walk thru the rest of the mish back to the start with a BF in reserve if hit by a mez. -
Quote:Dr Q, 13 hours, but then we were lvl 40-41 at the start and doing it on invincibleI think one of the Shard TFs took our team somewhere in the 10+ hour range... I want to say it took 12, but I am fairly certain that is me adding time to it due to how painful it was.
